People trust Amazon.

In our digital age, consumers have buying power. A study shows that 89% of consumers are more likely to buy products from Amazon than other eCommerce sites. People buy from people whom they like and trust, and these numbers prove that Amazon outshines the competition.

The moment that I discovered that I could make money publishing books online I was sold. In only a few short months I was making $4,000 in passive income and I never looked back. I've been an Amazon book publisher for 9 years now and have gone on to build a successful Amazon book publishing business, in addition to other businesses.

Amazon has made it easy for anyone to publish a book on their platform. You don't need to be an author, nor do you need previous business experience. For this reason alone, I believe that building an Amazon book publishing business is a great way to start selling online.

Recently, my fiancée Tatiana interviewed me on her YouTube channel about how to make money on Amazon selling books. Tatiana started an Amazon FBA business with zero business experience and has gone on to build a 7-figure brand in less than 4 years. If you feel called to start an Amazon FBA business and need help doing so, I encourage you to follow her.

Below are some of the questions that Tatiana asked me. Over the years, I've helped thousands of people make passive income from the comfort of their homes. It's been amazing to see how people's lives have changed because of Amazon. I hope my answers inspire you to take advantage of the amazing opportunity that Amazon provides.

Let's dive in!

What does it mean to publish and sell books on Amazon?

People go to Amazon because they are looking to buy something. The process of selling books on Amazon is similar to selling physical products, but it's a lot simpler. It starts with identifying a niche, the keywords, and the topics that are in high demand on Amazon. The next step is to write a book.

You can either write a book yourself or you can hire a ghostwriter to write it for you. There are more writers looking for work than ever before. In my Mastering Book Publishing course, I teach people how to be a publisher and a marketer. That is where the real money is made.

The most successful entrepreneurs outsource their work so that they can work on their business instead of in it. Doing so ensures that you can publish 5-10 books at one time, instead of just one. This is the best way to scale your business. If you go to Fiverr.com you can get a cover designed relatively inexpensively.

Once you have your book and cover formatted as a Kindle and paperback version, you can publish your book on Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Your book will be live on all of Amazon's platform and ready for purchase in less than 48 hours. The speed with which you can do all of this is a lot faster than selling physical products.

What stops a lot of people from writing their first book is that they assume that it has to be 300 pages long. This is far from true. I encourage people to write shorter books when they are first starting. Write a book that is 30-50 pages long and price it between .99 cents to $2.99 so that you're not taking a big risk from the get-go.

If your book ends up doing well, you can go back and improve it over time.

The only challenge with books is that it's harder to make significant amounts of money with it. If you have the money, I encourage you to start an Amazon FBA business. However, if money is tight right now, an Amazon book publishing business is a great starting point. This will help you get your feet wet and gain some experience on the Amazon platform. Once you start making money online, you can eventually transition to Amazon FBA if that's what you want to do.

How much money can people expect to make with Kindle publishing?

Amazon has grown so much over the years. Today, their marketplace and customer base is huge. Every niche, category, and keyword has different potential. On average, people are making a couple hundred or a couple thousand dollars a month selling books on Amazon.

If you want to build a 6-figure Amazon book publishing business, you have to sell a lot of books.

Think of your book as a business card. When people buy your book, they are building a relationship with you. You can funnel people who read your book into another product. For example, if you published a book on meditation, you could create a meditation mat or yoga block and sell it on Amazon FBA.

Your book should never be your whole business. I'm a proponent of building a brand in a niche that has books, physical products, and online courses. This is how I've been able to build a 7-figure brand.

Can you tell us more about your new course, Mastering Book Publishing?

I started teaching people how to publish books on Amazon back in 2013. I created a course called, Kindle Money Mastery. It went on to help thousands upon thousands of people make their first dollars online. For the last two years, I've been reworking my original course.

My new and improved course is called Mastering Book Publishing. It teaches you, step by step, how to get started selling books on Amazon. I have another course called Mastering Book Marketing that teaches you how to market your book outside of Amazon which will give you a huge competitive advantage.

This is the best time to start selling on Amazon for beginners.

The Coronavirus pandemic has shifted life online. This means that more and more people are shopping online, which includes buying books. Amazon's stocks recently hit an all-time high, making them a trillion-dollar company. As the world returns, Amazon is going to be stronger than ever before.

As more people buy on Amazon, everyone who sells on Amazon will benefit too. I know that a lot of people are moving through some financially difficult times right now. If you can relate, I encourage you to use your pain as motivation and take advantage of the opportunities that Amazon provides, whether that's book publishing or Amazon FBA.

Get motivated and take action! Your financial future will thank you for it.

This is my step-by-step tutorial on how to self publish a book on Amazon with Kindle Direct Publishing.

For demonstration purposes, throughout this blog, I am going to refer to a book that I self-published on Amazon called 67 Morning Ritual Habits For Your Body, Mind, and Spirit.

This will help you better make sense of the self-publishing process. What is amazing about Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) is that anyone can self publish a book on Amazon, from anywhere in the world, for free.

You don't have to be an expert or a best-selling author. If you have a message that you want to share with the world, you can do so through Amazon's platform.

If you're ready to discover my step-by-step system for how you can become a successful self-publisher, keep reading!

Self-publishing has become the new norm.

More and more people have been making the transition from shopping at traditional book stores to online stores. This has positioned Amazon as the go-to platform for all of their buying needs. It's fair to say that Amazon has rewritten the book industry, asserting an unparalleled customer base for the e-books, paperbacks, and audiobooks it publishes. Amazon has millions of customers on their platform.

On top of that, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced people around the world to quarantine and slow down, which has resulted in people buying and reading more books. There are countless self-publishers who have been able to quit their jobs and build successful book publishing businesses.

In my opinion, there has never been a better time to start an Amazon book publishing business and take advantage of the opportunities that Amazon provides. Here is my step-by-step tutorial on how to self publish a book on Amazon. Let's dive in!

1. Create a Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) Account

Kindle Direct Publishing is Amazon's self-publishing platform. It's free to sign up. All you need is an Amazon account. If you already have a personal Amazon account, I would recommend setting up a separate one for business and self-publishing purposes. Keep in mind that you need a different email address to do so.

You can earn up to a 70% royalty with every book you publish on Amazon. Once you upload your book on Amazon's platform, your book will be live, worldwide, and ready for purchase within 24-48 hours. It's a fairly easy and simple process. Amazon has some great tools for marketing your book so I suggest you browse their platform to learn more about what they have to offer.

Publishing a Kindle book is easier to publish than a paperback version. With a Kindle book, all you need is the book file, the specific format that is required, and a cover. With a paperback version, you will need a back cover and a spine. You can get this designed, inexpensively, by hiring a graphic designer via Fiverr.com.

2. Create Your Book Title

You want your book title to be catchy so that it grabs people's attention. When they see and hear your book title you want them to want to click on the Amazon listing to learn more. I recommend using Amazon Search as a way to optimize your book for different keywords.

This will help rank your book higher for those keywords and attract more potential customers. In terms of the author's name, you can use your name or a pseudonym. It's totally up to you. You can also add contributors to your book title. If you are the publisher and there's a secondary author who has the rights to the book, you can use his/her name.

3. Write Your Book Description

You are given 4,000 characters to write a book description. You don't have to use all of the characters. However, the more space you use, the more it can help with the ranking of your book. The primary purpose of the description is for people to learn more about your book before they buy it.

You can talk about what inspired you to write the book, what people will learn from reading it, and the benefits of buying the book. This will intrigue people to buy. Think of it as a sales pitch. I like to include a call-to-action at the end of any sales copy. This directs people to buy your book.

You want to determine if you own the rights to your book or if its public domain work. If you wrote the book, you own the rights. Conversely, if you decide to hire a ghostwriter to write it for you, make sure that you still own the rights to your book.

4. Choose The Right Keywords

Keywords help people find your book on Amazon Search. I recommend that you use seven keywords that are relevant to your book. Think about what keywords people would search for to find your book on Amazon. For my book, I would type in keywords like morning ritual, morning routine, habits, motivation, etc.

If you choose keywords and your book ranks for those, you can attract more customers to your book. Knowing which keywords to target, based on which ones are high in demand, is important. If you choose keywords that nobody is searching for, people won't be able to find your book.

If you want help doing Amazon keyword research, I highly recommend using the software Kindle Spy. This tool allows you to find the right category to get ranked and helps you identify the best keywords in that category.

5. Select The Right Categories

This is where your book is going to rank and be listed in a variety of different categories on Amazon. You can rank as the best seller in each of the different categories.

Some categories are easier to rank for than others are. If you want to rank in more than one category, I recommend that you research your competitors' keywords and choose categories that are lower in competition, Again, Kindle Spy is a great tool to do this.

6. Upload Your Manuscript To KDP

Review Amazon's content guidelines to make sure that your book is compatible with what KDP requires. Decide whether or not you want to go with digital rights management (DRM). This means that you will allow people to unauthorize the distribution of your book. I usually don't want to go this route but it's your choice.

In terms of the manuscript, Amazon accepts a doc.x, ePub, or KPF file. Choose which format you want to use to upload your book. KDP can help you format your book on its platform. However, I would recommend someone to help you with this via Fiverr.com.

Your book must look good on a Kindle e-reader device. Once you've uploaded your manuscript, you want to preview it to make sure that there are no errors or mistakes. That can lead to negative reviews.

7. Create Your Book Cover

For your book cover, you need a JPG or a PNG file. Again, you can find someone on Fiverr.com to design this for you. Another platform I recommend is 99 Designs. This platform allows you to put on a contest and have designers from all over the world compete to create a design for your book cover. It's a little more expensive but you get a lot of quality options.

Your cover is really important. People judge books by their cover. It is the first thing that people see when they are scrolling through book options. If it stands out, they will be inspired to click on it. If you want to turn your Kindle or paperback book into an audiobook that can be published on Amazon, Audible, and iTunes, I highly recommend using ACX.com.

When it comes to the writing of your book, if you decide that you want to hire a ghostwriter, I recommend going to Upwork.com. It's one of my go-to places to find editors, proof-readers, and editors to help build my business.

8. Decide To Enroll in KDP Select or Distribute Your Book Elsewhere

KDP Select is a program that you can enroll your book in with Amazon. This means that your book becomes exclusive on Amazon. In other words, it can't be sold anywhere else. This is a contract that you have to agree to for 90 days and can extend thereafter. In doing so, you get certain benefits through Amazon.

For example, you can get more royalties, do a free promotion, or do a Kindle countdown deal. If you plan to distribute your book on other platforms, you can't use this feature. However, if you're only going to stick with Amazon, I recommend enrolling in KDP Select.

9. Price Your Book

There are two different pricing structures for a Kindle book. There is a 35% royalty, meaning that your book has to be sold within a certain price range, from .99 cents to $200. However, if you want the 70% royalty, Amazon incentivizes you to sell it for $2.99 to $9.99. They've determined that this is how they want to price books on their platform.

10. Create A Book Marketing Plan

Before you launch your book, it is imperative that you have a marketing plan in place. Just because you write an amazing book doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to sell on Amazon. If you are interested in learning more about book marketing, I have a program called Mastering Book Marketing. Inside this program, I provide you with cutting-edge marketing tactics and techniques that will allow you to sell more of your books on Amazon and build your online business over the long term.

How would your life change if you built a $10,000 per month Amazon book publishing business?

I'm going to show you how you can build an Amazon business from scratch, even if you're not a writer or have never sold anything online.

With the current state of the world, more and more people have been forced to shop online. This has made Amazon the go-to place for everyone’s buying needs.

Over a 3 month period during which time large parts of the US were quarantined due to COVID-19, Amazon sold more than $50 billion in products.

There is no better time to build an Amazon book publishing business. If you want my step-by-step system for how you can create a $10,00 per month business, keep reading…

I've been selling books on Amazon for over 9 years now.

I have been able to build a 7-figure Amazon book publishing business and have gone on to help thousands of people do the same. Imagine creating a business that allows you to make money while you sleep. A business that can help you quit your 9 to 5 job and create financial the freedom that you've always desired. That's what building an Amazon book publishing business can give you.

I wrote and published a book last year called, 67 Morning Ritual Habits For Your Body, Mind, and Spirit. The Kindle eBook version sells for $2.99 and I get a 70% royalty from it. I also have a paperback version of my book that sells for $10 and an audiobook version.

Amazon allows me to publish all three versions of my book on three different platforms. In turn, I make more money from that one book. If I decided to, I could publish many different books in one niche. If each book made me $1,000 per month, I could publish ten books, which would be $10,000 per month. Make sense?

Conversely, I could build a backend. Building a backend allows you to make a lot more money and sell higher ticket products.  Acquiring a customer for the first time is challenging because he/she doesn't yet know who you are or what your product is all about. However, once they've bought once from you and enjoyed what you have to offer, it will be easier for you to sell them on your next product. This is how you build long-term relationships with your customers.

Watch the video above where I walk you through a visual diagram that talks in-depth about strategies that you can adopt to create a $10,000 per month Amazon book publishing business!

I want to break this process down for you so that you understand how it works. If your goal is to make $10,000 per month, you have to know what you need to do to accomplish that. If you want to publish a book on Amazon you first need to identify what niche you want to publish your book in.

In my case, I chose a book in the self-development space that focused on morning rituals. However, I've published over 100 books in many different niches, some of which I wrote myself while others I hired writers for. I started with self-development because I had a passion for it. I've been improving my life since I was 17 years old. The first book that I ever published was a dating eBook for men.

I used to struggle a lot with social anxiety and confidence issues when it came to interacting with women. It was painful, but I did the inner work, took what I learned from my experiences, and packaged that into a book. As I was learning self-development, I soon realized that I could publish many books on many different topics, based on the research that I did on Amazon.

Let me give you an example to show you how selling a book on Amazon works.

Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) incentivizes you to publish a Kindle book for $2.99-$9.99 and they will pay you a 70% royalty for that. If you charge outside of that range, you will only get a 35% royalty.

Let's say that you sell 100 copies of a Kindle book that is priced at $2.99, which results in $207 per month in royalties. Similarly, let's say that you sell the same book as a paperback version which you price at $12.99. You sell 100 copies, which gives you $564 in royalties per month. Finally, you sell 100 copies of an audiobook version, priced at $6.95, which gives you $208 in royalties per month.

This means that you would make a total of $1,000 per month from three different versions of one book. You have the option of rinsing and repeating the same process by publishing a second book. I'm not saying that one book will make you that much money. That may be over-ambitious for you. However, it is possible. It all depends on what you want to accomplish in your Amazon book publishing business.

The question is, “Once you publish your book on Amazon, how do you market it?”

On Amazon, you can market your book in one of two ways – via Amazon search or by using Amazon ads. This is the approach that most people take. It's a great place to start. However, you can scale your business if you go outside of Amazon. How much your book is going to make through Amazon search and ads will be based on how big the market is.

This is why you want to think about how you can get traffic from outside of Amazon.

One way of doing this is by building a blog, similar to what I did with my brand, Project Life Mastery. This is what gives you a competitive advantage. I have used my books to build my blog and visa versa. Amazon wants you to promote your book to other places on the Internet to create more exposure to your book. This is what will help them acquire more customers and sales on their platform that they wouldn't normally get had you not promoted elsewhere.

In turn, they will reward you by bringing more traffic to your book. If you're not a fan of blogging, you could start a podcast or a YouTube channel. Even better, you could go on a media tour! This is a great way of leveraging yourself to promote your book. This is one of many strategies that you can use to promote your book outside of Amazon.

However, I want to show you the easier way to make $10,000 per month and build a sustainable Amazon book publishing business. The challenge with publishing books on Amazon is that you're dependent on Amazon. If Amazon makes a change, your income could be gone. I don't want you to just make $10,000 per month for 1-3 months. Rather, I want you to make this kind of money for as long as you want. This is what a lot of people might not teach you.

Building the backend is how you scale up your business.

Once you acquire a customer, you want to build a long-term relationship with him/her. In my book, I say, “If you enjoyed this book, I would like to give you a gift. I have an additional free cheatsheet that will go more in-depth on this topic. Click this link and check it out! All you need to do is put in your name and email to receive it.”

I would then send someone to an opt-in page where they would give me their name/email. By doing this, not only am I giving more value, but I'm also acquiring a lead and building my email list. Over some time, I can build and nurture relationships with people.

Once people opt-in, I send them an email with a link to my bonus cheatsheet. Inside this email, I can also mention and link to one of my courses that can help them get to where they want to go on a deeper level. People usually don't buy right away, which is why it's important to build relationships with people through emails. You can automate this entire email process using AWeber or ClickFunnels.

When it comes to publishing books on Amazon, the first thing you need to do is set up a free KDP account with Amazon.

Like I said above, you can publish three versions of your book – as a Kindle, a paperback, and an audiobook. If you want to turn your Kindle or paperback book into an audiobook that can be published on Amazon, Audible, and iTunes, I highly recommend using ACX.com. This is a great way to get more reach with your book.

When it comes to designing your book cover, check out Fiverr.com where you will find a lot of graphic designers who can do the work for you fairly inexpensively. When it comes to writing your book, if you don't want to write it yourself you can hire a freelance writer to do it for you via Upwork.com. Lastly, when it comes to researching which niches and markets are making the most money on Amazon, I recommend getting the software, Kindle Spy. This is a great way to leverage your success as an Amazon publisher.

Are you ready to create a $10,000 per month Amazon book publishing business?

I view a successful business as one that has many different streams of income. Building this type of business is what will allow you to achieve the financial freedom that you desire. This won't happen overnight. However, if you stick with it and are committed to building something sustainable, there is no limit to how successful you can be.

Amazon FBA or Amazon book publishing… which one is better?

Both business models are great. However, I want to compare them in detail so that you can decide which one is best for you to pursue.

Amazon sales are surging right now.

If you thought that you missed the boat to start making money on Amazon, don't worry. You didn't. Amazon's stock has remained resilient throughout the COVID-19 crisis since its core e-commerce and cloud businesses are separate from the pandemic.

More and more people are now shopping online, while a lot of retail stores are dying off. There has never been a better time to start selling on Amazon, as it presents a great opportunity to make money online. It's just a matter of deciding which model you want to pursue.

Amazon FBA stands for fulfillment by Amazon. It involves the process of private labeling a product and selling it on Amazon. Conversely, Amazon book publishing is the process of creating a Kindle, paperback, or audiobook and selling it on Amazon.

I started with Amazon book publishing nine years ago and transitioned to Amazon FBA five years ago. I've experienced a lot of success with both business models and I've coached thousands of people on how to make money on Amazon.

In this blog, I'm going to compare each of the business models in detail and explore their level of potential, competition, difficulty, as well as their start-up cost, the time frame that it will take to launch the business, and the level of risk involved. Let's dive in!

Potential

When you're publishing books on Amazon the one challenge that you will face is that you're selling low-ticket products. A Kindle book sells for $10 or less. You may sell a paperback book for $20, but it would have to be a best-seller book or have a lot of reviews. If you wanted to create a 7-figure business, you would need tens of thousands of customers to buy your books.

If you want to make some money on the side, Amazon book publishing is the best option. What a lot of people don't realize is that a book is just a means to an end. It's the backend that leads to more potential to make money. The goal is to funnel people from reading your books to subscribing to your email list.

This is what allows you to build long-term relationships with people, at which point you can start selling courses, doing affiliate marketing, or selling physical products.

Conversely, Amazon FBA has a lot more potential. There are more niches and types of products that you can sell. Not only can you charge more money for products, but there are a lot more buyers at your disposal. I can list hundreds of people who are making 6-7 figures with Amazon FBA.

Also, if you want to build an asset that can be sold one day, Amazon FBA is the way to go. If you're interested in getting started selling on Amazon, I recommend that you check out my FREE Amazon FBA Training where I teach you, step-by-step, how to leverage the power of Amazon to generate financial wealth.

Winner: Amazon FBA

Competition

It doesn't matter which product or book you sell, both models are very competitive. Competition is actually a good thing. Part of what helps you identify what product you should sell on Amazon involves researching your competition and doing product research.

By looking at what products or books are selling well on Amazon, it helps lower your risk. If others are making money with a product or book, it's showing you that there is a high demand for it. I don't enter into any market if it doesn't have competition.

With Amazon book publishing, you have to market your book outside of Amazon if you want to get more sales. This is what will give you a competitive advantage. Book publishing has a lower barrier of entry, meaning that there's not a lot of money involved to get started. This means that there will always be more competition.

Conversely, because there is a higher barrier of entry with Amazon FBA, the competition is less. The mere fact that the physical product side of Amazon is so much bigger means that you can stand out and still do really well, despite the competition.

Winner: Amazon FBA

Difficulty

One of the reasons why I love Amazon book publishing so much is that it's newbie-friendly. If you are a complete beginner to the online world, this is a great business model to get started with. The process of publishing a book on Amazon is very simple.

You can set up a free account via Kindle Direct Publishing, upload a book file and cover, and have your book live on Amazon in less than 24 hours. However, the difficulty with this model comes with scaling your business. This is why I suggest that you invest in a great course that will give you a proven system for how to master the book publishing and marketing process.

I have recently created a new and improved Kindle book publishing course called Mastering Book Publishing, as well as a book marketing course called Mastering Book Marketing.

Amazon FBA is a more complex process than Amazon book publishing. When it comes to private labeling a product, you have to do research and find product opportunities that are high in demand on Amazon. Before you pursue a product, you have to determine what your costs and expenses will be in terms of manufacturing your product and what your profit margins will be.

All of the numbers need to make sense.

This means that you have to first reach out to suppliers and communicate back and forth with them. You will need samples so that you can determine the weight, size and shipping cost of your product. Lastly, the logistics of getting your product manufactured, getting your packaging done, and shipping your product from your supplier to an Amazon warehouse needs to be taken into account.

As you can tell, there are bigger decisions that need to be made when it comes to selling on Amazon FBA. In my experience, this is why it's so helpful to invest in an Amazon course, like Amazing Selling Machine. It will help you navigate all of the moving parts with an Amazon FBA business.

If you join the new Amazing Selling Machine, I'll personally give you $9,482 worth of bonuses, for FREE, at no additional cost.  If money is an issue, another great Amazon FBA course that I recommend which is slightly cheaper is called Marketplace Superheroes.

Tie: Amazon FBA & Amazon Book Publishing

Start-up Cost

The great thing about Amazon book publishing is that it doesn't cost a lot to get started. You can write your own book which won't cost you any money. However, it will cost you your time. Alternatively, you can hire a ghostwriter to write a book for you.

The cost depends on the level of quality that you want. What a lot of people don't realize is that a book doesn't have to be 300 pages. I recommend writing a book that is only 40-50 pages. Amazon has a category on its platform called, Kindle Short Reads, where people publish 20-30 page books and sell them at a lower price point.

The only other cost that you need to worry about is a book cover. You can get this created fairly inexpensively by a designer on Fiverr.com. I like to hire three different designers and choose the cover I like best.

With Amazon FBA, there is a greater start-up cost because you have to invest in inventory. It will cost you roughly $2,000. That will get you about 500-1,000 units. That cost doesn't include a course.

You will get a better price if you order a larger quantity. Every supplier will have a minimum order quantity. You want to make sure that you invest in enough stock so that you don't run out of it. You also don't want to have too much inventory so that if your product isn't selling well, you don't end up losing money.

As you can see, there are more costs involved with Amazon FBA when it comes to inventory, creating product packaging, shipping your product, and marketing.

Winner: Amazon Book Publishing

Time Frame

The great thing about Amazon book publishing is the speed at which everything can be done. Once you write your book, you can set up a Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) account, upload your book file, and publish it so that it's available for sale within 24-48 hours.

One the main reasons why it takes some people such a long time to write a book is that they are perfectionists. I believe that the way you perfect something is by putting it out there, getting feedback and then going back and making it better.

The great thing about Amazon book publishing is that you can edit a book that you've already published. Depending on the length and quality of your book, it can take roughly 1-3 months to start making money with your books.

Conversely, selling a physical product on Amazon FBA takes longer. You may spend one-week doing research. If you use a tool like Jungle Scout the research process will be quicker. You will need to reach out to suppliers and get them to send you samples so that you can decide which one is best.

If your supplier is from China or somewhere overseas, it will take 1-2 weeks to receive a sample. After that, you will have to create the packaging for your product and then make an order with your supplier who will end up manufacturing your product.

The time you will have to wait for that depends on the nature of your product. Shipping your product to Amazon fulfillment centers by boat is slower, but cheaper. By plane, it will be faster, but more expensive. Once you set up your Amazon Seller Central account and get your Amazon listing published, you're ready to start selling! The entire process usually takes 3-6 months.

Winner: Amazon Book Publishing

Risk

The level of risk involved with Amazon book publishing is relatively low if you don't invest a lot of money and time into the writing of your book. I suggest that you start with writing a short book, see if it sells, and then go back and make the book longer.

With Amazon FBA there is more risk. If launch your product and it doesn't sell, you could potentially lose a lot of money. This will mean that you may have to sell off your product inventory, at cost, to get back your investment. This is why I think it's great to invest in a course because it mitigates your risk. You will know what to avoid and how to do things the right way.

Winner: Amazon Book Publishing

Amazon FBA & Amazon book publishing are great business models.

I know a lot of people who start publishing books on Amazon and then transition into selling physical products on Amazon FBA. The model you end up choosing will depend on how much money you have, which model interests you more, what your level of risk tolerance is, and whether or not you can invest in a course.

That being said, if you have the money and want to build a bigger, more sustainable business that you can eventually sell, I think the winning business model is Amazon FBA. At the end of the day, both models have potential but you have to decide which one excites you most. That is the model you will get the most results with.

Which business model will you choose?

Book publishing has become a booming industry.

I got started publishing books on Amazon over nine years ago. During that time, I was exploring different opportunities to make money online. One thing that really attracted me to publishing books on Amazon was the platform itself. Amazon is the biggest online retailer in the world.

Each month more than 197 million people around the world get on their devices and visit Amazon.com. Needless to say, the opportunity to sell on Amazon is better than ever because Amazon is bigger than ever. Imagine being able to tap into the hundreds of millions of customers that Amazon has!

If you don't have any previous experience selling online, book publishing is a great starting point. The ease and simplicity of this business model are incomparable to other models. Not only that, but it's relatively inexpensive to publish books on Amazon.

If you're looking to build a solid side hustle, this is the business model to take advantage of. If you want to be strategic, you can go one step further and use your books to build a successful brand. That's what I did with my brand, Project Life Mastery.

Book publishing is a recession-proof business model. No matter how bad the economy gets people will always want to buy and read books, simply because they are low-ticket products.

The Coronavirus has forced people around the world to self-quarantine. People are reading more books and consuming more knowledge than ever before because they have more free time on their hands.

As of late, Amazon sales have skyrocketed. The global Coronavirus pandemic has forced 250,000 US stores to close, clearing the way for Amazon’s dominance. This is why I believe that book publishing is one of the biggest opportunities that currently exist for people to make money online.

Keep in mind that book publishing is not a get-rich-quick business model.

It requires time, hard work, and creativity. More importantly, it requires that you learn core marketing skills. It's not enough to just write a book and publish it on Amazon. If you want your book to be seen online, you have to market it effectively. This is what my new course, Mastering Book Publishing will help you accomplish.

Mastering Book Publishing is replacing my old course, K Money Mastery which has helped tens of thousands of people from all over the world make money online. When it comes to creating new course content, I've committed to raising my standards. A lot of energy, effort, and attention went into making sure that my new course is the best that it could be.

Inside my course, you will learn how to become a master publisher and marketer. I will teach you how you can work with professional writers to write books for you so that you can focus on the marketing aspect of your business… and guess what? Right now, more writers than ever before are looking for work. The timing is perfect.

I would like to share 3 ways to successfully market your eBook. In today's digital world, Kindle publishing has become a growing trend.

Amazon is becoming a primary shopping search engine for the modern-day consumer, with 55% of searches beginning on the site. The Amazon Kindle platform has made it possible for nearly anyone to become a self-published author and create a successful eBook business.

I believe that Kindle publishing is one of the fastest and easiest ways to make money online. I have been able to build a successful six-figure passive income from Kindle publishing, and so can you, if you are willing to do the hard work.

Writing an eBook is a huge accomplishment, however, a lot of people forget how important it is to market an eBook once it has been written. You could have award-winning content that wows your target readers. But if you fail to create a great online marketing strategy, nobody will be lining up to buy it. Are you ready to create a successful Kindle publishing business?

Do you want my proven step-by-step system for publishing books on Amazon? CLICK HERE to purchase my new and improved Mastering Book Publishing course!

If you are reading this and you've already written your Kindle eBook, congrats! Now it's time to want to sell your eBook to a wide audience of people, you need to treat your eBook like a business.

Without marketing, your business will not survive. This is one of the biggest Kindle publishing mistakes. If you take the necessary steps in order to promote your eBook, your sales are guaranteed to skyrocket.

Below are 3 ways to successfully market your eBook:

1. Partner with eBook blogs

One of the best ways to market your eBook is to partner with a powerful community of fellow eBook lovers that can provide a platform for getting your content seen by a wider audience of prospective buyers.

There is a multitude of blogs, websites, and social media pages — like Goodreads, Kindle Nation, and InspiredReads — both free and paid, that are devoted to reviewing and promoting eBooks.

2. Give Your eBook Away For Free

If you are an up-and-coming author and are new to the Kindle game, experimentation is key. Giving your eBook away for free is a great marketing strategy to increase your credibility as an author and gain more readers. How?

When your book is free, it comes up in more searches on retailer sites. At first, this strategy may seem counterintuitive, but it's the best way to make your eBook stand out from the rest. I am a firm believer that if you aren't willing to give, you can't expect to receive it.

The more books that you give away for free, the more fans you gain, and the more sales you make. A great tool to use to start generating interest in your eBook is the creation of a powerful landing page.

3. Target Your Audience with Facebook Ads

Social media is one of the most effective marketing tools for promoting your eBook, and one of the best platforms for doing so is Facebook. In particular, utilizing Facebook Ads are a great way to target a specific audience of people who would be interested in the content of your book.

The first step is to create a business page on Facebook that is dedicated to your eBook, and then the goal is to get more fans, which is where the power of Facebook advertising comes into play.

Successful Facebook ads are specific and ask a question. If you want people to buy your eBook, you need your message to be perceived by readers as something of value. These are great strategies to draw readers in.

In the words of Alexis Ohanian, “At the end of the day, how many ads did it take to convince you to use Facebook or Twitter? It wasn't marketing or advertising that convinced you to use these services. It was their value.” These are 3 ways to successfully market your eBook. In order to get your eBook in the hands of as many people as possible, you need to promote your book in a creative and strategic way.

Are you ready to start publishing e-books and making passive income online? The world is waiting for your words.

I would like to share with you 4 ways to promote your eBook on a budget. Writing and publishing an eBook is a great way to share your expertise with the world, and it is one of the easiest ways to make passive income online.

Long gone are the days when people had to tirelessly search for a publishing company to accept their work for print. In today's digital world, anyone can publish almost any kind of book.

Amazon's Kindle publishing system has been a game changer for anyone who has dreams of becoming a best-selling, first-time author. Russ Grandinetti, VP of Kindle content for Amazon says, “I believe that we will look back in five years and realize that digital was one of the great expansions of the publishing business.”

It's one thing to write and publish an eBook, but it's another thing to find effective ways to get the word out and promote it. The modern buyer has access to more information than ever before, meaning that if you want people to purchase your eBook, it needs to stand out from the rest. Are you ready to share your eBook with the world?

Do you want my proven step-by-step system for publishing books on Amazon? CLICK HERE to purchase my new and improved Mastering Book Publishing course!

Below are 4 ways to promote your eBook on a budget:

1. Give Away A Chapter for Free

The reality is that everyone likes getting something for free. Giving away a chapter of your book, for free, may be one of the most effective marketing tools available to you. By allowing your readers to see a snapshot of your writing style and story, it will entice them into buying your book.

Furthermore, giving away free eBook content will allow you to receive more email list signups, and it gives you the opportunity to promote other products/services that you may be offering.

The more content that you give away, the more money that you will make. In the words of Gary Vaynerchuk, “Give value, and then ask for business.”

2. Start Blogging

When it comes to promoting yourself as an authority figure in the publishing world, blogging is an invaluable tool to use, and it's free! A blog is an integral piece of your online content marketing strategy.

When people visit my blog and receive value from my content, it entices them to want to learn more from me.  This is why Kindle publishing is so useful. It’s a product that you can sell to people that visit your blog.

The beauty of a blog is that you can start creating excitement about it before your eBook is even finished. Providing your readers with reliable, high-quality content establishes yourself as a credible authority in your industry.

A great way to promote your eBook within your blogs is to include a call to action at the bottom of your posts. This will inspire your readers to take action immediately after they have finished consuming your content.

3 Make a Video

The power of video is that it has the ability to engage with your audience in a way that written words cannot. If you want to promote anything to your audience, you need to connect with them on an emotional level.

YouTube receives almost 1 billion unique viewers every month. There is no better platform to inspire and promote your message to the world. In order to establish a connection with your audience, you need to research your market and understand who they are.

Personalization is the key to success. Once you know who your audience is, share your story in such a way that they are able to identify or relate to you. Doing so will help your eBook stand out, once you are ready to promote it. In the words of Confucius, “Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me, and I'll understand.”

4. Utilize Social Media

A great way to gain massive exposure and build relationships with your viewers is by promoting your eBook across multiple social media platforms. Social media is the most effective marketing tool in the world today.

You could pin a tweet, be a guest blogger on an influencer's website, create a Facebook fan page, or share an image or quote from your eBook on Instagram or Pinterest.

If it's in your budget, you can even use Facebook ads to promote your eBook, which will allow you to select a very specific target audience. There is a worldwide audience at your fingertips, ready to consume your valuable content.

These are 4 ways to promote your eBook on a budget. When you master the promotion of your eBook, not only will you build your brand, but you will also create raving fans, that come back, again and again.

I have built a successful eBook publishing business by following these 4 eBook promotion strategies. If I can do it, so can you. In the words of Andy Crestodina, “It's not the best content that wins, it's the best-promoted content.”

I have created a new and improved version of K Money Mastery which is called, Mastering Book Publishing!

I want to show you how to build a long-term, sustainable online publishing business on Amazon, through Kindle, paperback, and audiobooks that will make you money while you sleep.

In business, it is imperative that you have a strong foundation that allows you to scale, grow, and continuously make passive income in a long-term, sustainable way.

The big mistake that a lot of people make in building a publishing business is that they only build a one-legged stool.

This concept is based on marketing legend, Jay Abraham’s concept of a business Parthenon. Abraham believes that you need to build a business Parthenon, not a one-legged stool.

For a lot of publishers, the one-legged stool is representative of a Kindle book. They receive their traffic and their sales primarily from Amazon. That is the first step in publishing.

The mistake is that publishers make a little bit of money, but then they go and publish another book. They leverage Amazon again, make a little money from their second book, and then they rinse and repeat this process.

The problem with this model is that they don’t realize that Amazon changes – the Internet is constantly evolving and adapting. The book that you publish may make you $100/month, but 5-10 years from now, because it's only standing on one pillar, it can easily fall over.

Sure enough, the book that makes you $100/month now makes you $50/month because you didn’t invest the time to build a business Parthenon. The Parthenon method has different pillars, each of which is a revenue-generating activity. Let's break down this method using a real-life example.

Let's say you wrote a book on weight loss. One leg of your business Parthenon could be building a blog, based on weight loss, which attracts people to your book. A second leg could be YouTube, where you publish videos related to weight loss and use those videos to promote your book. A third leg could be press releases, a powerful strategy that allows you to promote your book, increases online exposure, and funnels traffic towards your book.

A fourth leg could be Facebook, where you can attract followers that are interested in weight loss. A fifth leg could be publishing books on Amazon and selling them, which allows you to funnel people back to your blog, website, YouTube channel, etc.

Now you are receiving traffic from Google, which is bigger than Amazon. You have an automated system of traffic that is funneling into your book and getting you sales. All of a sudden you’ve got five different legs. You have a business structure that is sustainable.

It takes time to do this, but now you’ve turned a book that was making $100/month into one that is making you $1000/month, just by being able to market and sell your book. People don’t realize that you have to market and sell your book. Publishing is only half the battle.

People think that the whole game is to get rich – the key is to get rich and STAY rich. Anybody can make a little bit of money, but you need to ask yourself if it is going to sustain you over the long-term. If you want to learn more about how to build your publishing Parthenon, I’ve got a great course called Mastering Book Publishing

This is an inexpensive course that teaches you about the first pillar of the business Parthenon – how to publish a book, leverage Amazon, and how to do marketing and promoting outside of that. I have another course called Full Disclosure, which will teach you how to build a business Parthenon, and how to successfully master blogging, email marketing, YouTube, press releases, Facebook, etc.

I also have a more in-depth course called, Affiliate Marketing Mastery, which will teach you how to build a successful business brand. I am living proof that you can make six-figures passive income with Kindle publishing.

My courses will help you to build your online business and make long-term, sustainable income. I have helped thousands of people build successful online publishing businesses. Are you ready to take your publishing business to the next level?

Video transcript

Hey, everyone!  This is Stefan, from ProjectLifeMastery.com. In this video, I'm going to show you how to build a long term and sustainable publishing business on Amazon through Kindle, through paperback, and through audio books.  I already did a lesson on my YouTube channel explaining what I'm going to show you guys in this video.

I did it more so for building an online business with affiliate marketing, but the same concept applies to a publishing business. I think this is the missing piece that a lot of people have in making long-term, sustainable income from publishing.

I've been through the many different changes of Amazon and the evolution of it.  I believe that, in business, you always have to evolve. You always have to stay with the trend. You have got to build an evergreen, a sustainable system in your business that has a strong foundation that is going to allow you to have infinite upside, to be able to scale, to grow, and to continuously make passive income in a long-term and sustainable way.

I'm going to show you guys this concept in this video. This is going to be a little bit different than what a lot of people teach but this is what I believe, this is what I teach, and this is what I've seen.  The people that have been able to grow and build a very successful online business are using the power of leverage.  This is what Im going to show you in this video.

The one-legged stool

The big mistake that a lot of people make when building a publishing business is that they only build a one-legged stool.  It's not really a mistake because everybody starts doing it this way, but the mistake is that they don't grow. They don't build what I'm going to show you guys.

I'm going to use an example of a business Parthenon. This is actually a concept from JD Abraham, who is a marketing genius. He says that you've got to build a business Parthenon, not a one legged stool. For a lot of people, the one-legged stool basically looks like this. It's kind of like a mini-Parthenon.

My drawing doesn't look that great, but hopefully you guys can see this. Basically, they have their book here, they publish a Kindle book, and they get their traffic and their sales primarily from Amazon. That's what most people do.  That's what most publishers do. I teach that. That's really the first step of building your business.

You have got to publish the book and then you have to leverage Amazon.  Amazon is great to leverage because they have millions of customers.  Customers are already familiar with buying on Amazon.  They might have a Kindle device where they can buy from. They already have trust with Amazon.  They have already got their credit card in Amazon, so you are going to get the majority of your sales from Amazon.

Amazon is an incredible gift, an incredible opportunity that is available to publishers as a way to make money from. Now, the mistakes and challenges that a lot of publishers make is that they only build a one-legged stool.  Their Parthenon is kind of flimsy. It's only got one pillar, so it can easily fall over.  It doesn't have a strong foundation.

They make some money from it, but then they go ahead and they publish another book, and their other book is like this. They leverage Amazon again, they publish their book, they make some money from it, and sure enough, they do it again.  They think, “If I just rinse and repeat this process and each book makes me a little bit of money, great. I'm going to make more money, and maybe it will scale up”.

The problem with this model

The mistake that a lot of publishers make is that they don't realize that Amazon changes.  The Internet changes. Things evolve and adapt. There might be competition that comes in. For example, the book you might publish, you could potentially make $100 a month from this book, 1, to 5, to 10 years from now, but because it's only standing on one pillar, it can easily fall over.

Not to say that it would, but in a lot of cases it has a high probability of falling over because, what are the chances that the weather's going to change? A disaster might happen or Amazon might change things in some way. Competition might come to that market and out-compete with your book.

Sure enough, they do this and they move on and create this little one-legged stool. What happens, is that this book that is making them $100 a month, is all of a sudden making them $10 a month. This one here is making $50 a month, and now it's making them nothing.

This one here was making them $70 a month, and now it's only making them $5 a month. Right? It's because they didn't build the foundation, they didn't build the pillars, they didn't build a business Parthenon, which is what I'm going to show you guys in this video.

You've got to build a Parthenon

This is what I teach.  So, you've got a book, right? You've got a pillar. This pillar is Amazon. Great. Now, what a lot of people aren't teaching you, and the reason why you are not making sustainable, long-term income is because you've only got the one pillar.  You are not building another pillar. Your other pillar is basically another way for you to send traffic and get sales to your book.

For example, maybe that is building a blog. You've got a book, let's say it's a weight loss book. Why don't you build a weight loss blog? Publish articles and attract people to you from there.  By doing this, you are getting traffic from Google, which is much bigger than Amazon.  Now, you are getting traffic and sales that you are promoting your book with, because you are publishing articles that are linking to your book.

All of a sudden you've got another leg. You have got a more sustainable business that's now diversified so that if something happens and other people compete with you, it's okay, because you still have this automated system of traffic that's funneling into your book and getting you sales.

Then you are going to take it one step further, and you are going to build another leg. This one, for example, could be YouTube. You publish videos on YouTube related to weight loss and you use them to promote your book.  In your videos, you mention your book, you promote it, etc.

Now, you've got another leg, it's more sustainable of a business, it's more long term. If something happens here, you've still got the other two.  Then you enable another leg, and this could be a press release. A press release is a statement of news. For example, you can publish press releases about your book, the launch of a new book, if you've updated your book, or if your book becomes a best seller.  Any news around your book or the market.

You could do a press release about a new study on weight loss, or a new food.  Then, in the press release, you can promote your book. A press release is another leg, another powerful strategy that allows you to promote your book.

Then, you build another leg. Maybe your other leg is Facebook. Apologies for my drawing and writing, it's not that great. Now all of a sudden you've got five different legs.  You have a structure that has a foundation and that is sustainable. Of course, it takes time to do this but, hey, now you've turned a book that was once making $50 or $100, into something that's making you even more money.

Publishing is only half the battle

It could be making you $500 or $1,000 or $5,000 a month just by being able to market and sell your book. That's the mistake a lot of people make. They don't realize that you've got to market and sell your book. They think that “Hey, I published a book and because I built it, people will come”.

You've published a book, great, but everyone can do that. That's why people worry about competition and saturation because the only reason why competition matters is if you are doing a one legged stool. If you've only got one leg and you are only depending on Amazon, then you are competing with every other book on Amazon.

Maybe you have other books that you published that can cross-promote one another. Maybe you built an email list.  Maybe you are using Instagram, Pinterest or guest posting on other blogs, or submitting to article directories. There are so many ways that you can market and promote online.

Most people are looking for the short cut. If you are looking for the short cut, I'm not for you.  What I teach is not for you. Do not invest in any product that I have because I don't want to work with dabblers.  I only want to work with people that are committed, people that are going to be in it for the long-term, and that are serious about building a sustainable business.

If you are serious, I can help you. Sign up for my courses.  All of my courses will help you to be able to build up your business and actually make long term, sustainable income from it.

If you are looking to get rich quick, there are other people that are going to sell you that. I'm not going to sell you that. I'm going to sell you guys on why you should do things the right way, this way. The mistake that a lot of people make is they think the whole game is to get rich. That's not the key.

Get rich and stay rich

The key is to get rich and to stay rich, to make money and to keep making money. That's the flaw and the mistake that a lot of people make. Anybody can make a little bit of money for one month or three months or six months but is it going to be a long term and sustainable?

This is what I'm about.  I teach people how to create a long-term, sustainable online business. If you guys want to learn more about how to build your publishing Parthenon.  I'm going to coin that phrase, your publishing Parthenon. If you guys want to build that I've got a great course called Mastering Book Publishing.

Mastering Book Publishing is an inexpensive course that will teach you the first leg, the first pillar. It will teach you how to publish a book, how to leverage Amazon, and how to do some marketing, promoting outside of that. I've got another course called Full Disclosure. Full Disclosure will basically teach you how to build a Parthenon.

This is the long-term strategy

This is what I want for you. You don't need a course to do it, but a course is going to save you time because you've got a model from someone that's already done it and that has built up a successful online business and brand. It's going to save you a lot of money and time than having to try and figure it out on your own.
