Do you want to learn about the 5 areas of life where persistence pays off? If you want to master all areas of your life, you need to understand the value of persistence. However, it's not enough to know something. Life mastery requires that you actually live it, every day.

If you want to achieve anything in life it will require that you possess a killer combination of sheer willpower, determination, and desire.

When it comes to personal development and dating, I understand how important it is for men to develop the communication and confidence skills that are necessary in order to attract a partner into their lives.

When I was 21 years old I started a dating coaching business, that was designed to help men overcome the confidence challenges that I had faced in my own life.

That is why I wanted to invite Eddy Baller, a men's personal development and dating coach, to write a guest post to talk about 5 areas of life where persistence pays off.

Take it away Eddy!

I want to share with you 5 areas of life where persistence pays off. How many of us have embarked on a new journey to accomplish something big, only to become disillusioned and quit when it didn’t work out?

The human mind is notoriously bad at making time predictions for complicated goals. Even showing up on time seems to be a challenge for some people. “I have time, I’ll just finish a few emails…”

The biggest challenges in life usually require a lot of time, and it’s hard to predict how much time. The key ingredient which separates the cream of the crop is persistence – the raw determination and grit that comes from sticking to your goals.

Here are 5 areas of life where persistence pays off:

1. Dating

Anyone who’s ever gone on dates can attest to the fact that dating isn’t always easy. If you’re interested in finding the love of your life, it means going through a lot of ‘candidates’. Shyness and social anxiety can become a serious handicap for someone when it comes to dating.

Being successful in the dating world requires a number of skills, some of which include, learning how to approach women or men, conversational skills, body language, confidence, assertiveness, boundary setting, and more.

If you want to find a partner that is right for you, it will require persistence, in addition to mastering the above skills.

Action step: Get a dating coach or connect with someone who seems to have their dating life together. Learn how they’ve created an abundant love life and emulate their best practices.

2. Relationships

Dating skills are just the first part of our romantic journeys. Once we’ve found a long-term partner, we need a new tool box to keep the romance alive.

A lot of dating skills still apply; confidence, body language, boundaries to name a few, but now we have to learn how to share our space, grow together, and keep it exciting in the bedroom.

It also requires paying attention to our partner's communication style and learning their habits, so that we can avoid unnecessary clashes. This shows that we really understand them.

Action step: Dedicate at least one night per week as a ‘date night’. It’s too easy to get caught up in the business of life and family. Put aside time for a quality get together so that your bond continues to grow.

3. Business

Building a business is tough. There are a myriad of setbacks that are designed to test your ability to persist, which include lack of know how, lack of resources, not having the right people when you need them, bootstrapping, and more.

For those who stay in the fight, the turning point shows up as a change in focus, experience, and a new direction, which may not have been clear in the beginning stages.

Action step: Invest in business and marketing training. Too many people try winging it and end up quitting when it doesn’t work.

4. Mindset

At the age of 20, I was an extremely negative person and all of my friends were negative too. Every day I played the same record in my head. It was always, “people suck”, “rich people suck”, “everything is expensive”, “the weather is no good”, and on and on.

I became tired of my own attitude and wanted to change. I knew that if I kept hanging out with the same people I wouldn't be able to grow. So I decided to start from scratch and distance myself from my old friends.

I set out to learn better social skills to make friends, meet women, and change my mindset. It took years to make serious progress, but the alternative was unthinkable.

Action step: To create a more positive mindset, work on reframing negative thoughts on a daily basis. Just look for the positive angle to the thought you were in the middle of. Do this daily and soon you will start thinking in a different way.

5. Emotions (EQ)

Emotional intelligence, or EQ, has a huge effect on our social success. It allows us to read other people's feelings, understand ourselves, and communicate effectively. People that have a low EQ have weak connections with others.

On the other hand, people with a strong EQ have healthier friendships, romances, and business relationships. When you learn how to master your emotions, you master your life.

Action step: Start by learning more about your own habits and emotions. How do you react to different situations? What happens to your body language when you’re feeling positive or negative emotions?

These are 5 areas of life where persistence pays off! What is one area of your life where persistence has paid off for you? Comment below and let me know!

3 Ways To Hold Yourself Accountable To Your Goals https://projectlifemastery.com/accountable-to-your-goals/ https://projectlifemastery.com/accountable-to-your-goals/#respond Wed, 26 Jul 2017 00:28:07 +0000 http://projectlifemastery.com/?p=6543 Accountability is an inside job. Do you want to know 3 ways to hold yourself accountable to your goals? Click here to learn more!

The post 3 Ways To Hold Yourself Accountable To Your Goals appeared first on Project Life Mastery.

]]>
I would like to share 3 ways to hold yourself accountable to your goals. From time to time, all of us have struggled to stay consistent with the goals that we set for ourselves.

It's one thing to set goals, but actually accomplishing them takes commitment, energy, discipline, and hard work. When we don't see results fast enough, it is easy to lose our motivation and fall into a negative thinking trap.

All of us have personal goals that we want to master, but many people become easily distracted by shiny objects or new ideas. The result is that they end up jumping from opportunity to opportunity, without accomplishing anything.

Accountability is an inside job. If you want to create positive change in your life, you need to take responsibility for the decisions that you make. In the words of Stephen Covey, “Accountability breeds response-ability.”

Are you ready to learn 3 ways to hold yourself accountable to your goals?

Do you want to have the support of a mentor who will hold you accountable to your goals every month? CLICK HERE to join my Life Mastery Accelerator program!

1. Find An Accountability Partner

When you are accountable to others, you are more likely to follow-through on your goals. Conversely, when you don't have someone in your corner, cheering you on and checking-up on you, it is easy to make excuses for why you can't accomplish something.

The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) did a study on accountability and found that you if you have a specific accountability appointment with a person that you’ve committed to, you will increase your chance of success by up to 95%.

An accountability partner, like a coach or a mentor, can give you the motivation that you need in order to take action when you are not where you want to be in life.

George Matthew Adams said it best – ““There is no such thing as a ‘self-made’ man. We are made up of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the make-up of our character and of our thoughts, as well as our success.”

2. Develop Good Habits

If you want to achieve your goals, you need to commit to developing good habits. In doing so, it primes your brain for success. Research shows that the best way to improve your overall health and well-being is to start a new regular habit.

The most effective way to transform your goals into habits is to create a morning ritual. In the morning, you have the most willpower at your disposal, and so your motivation is at its peak.

Accountability is about willpower, and willpower is similar to a muscle. If it's possible for muscles to get stronger over time with training, willpower can do the same. In the words of Joshua Miller, “Personal accountability isn’t a trait that people are born with, it’s a way of living that you can learn.”

3. Find Your Purpose

Finding your purpose is a critical element to achieving your goals and experiencing fulfillment in life. By nature, having a purpose breeds accountability.

When you are living your purpose and doing what you love, you naturally want to be accountable to yourself and others because you are committed to something greater than yourself.

Write your purpose down, and read it out loud to yourself every day. When you do so, it will inspire you to stay committed to your goals and take action.

I challenge you to try out these 3 ways to hold yourself accountable to your goals. At the end of the day, mastering any goal in life requires that you make a conscious commitment to take action. It all starts and ends with you.

Are you living your life with purpose? Do you wake up every day with a sense of excitement and vitality, with the belief that you are capable of achieving anything you desire? If not, it’s time to make a change and I’m here to show you how. That is why I created Life Mastery Accelerator, which is a monthly mentoring program for those that are committed to mastering every area of their lives and that refuse to settle for anything less than an extraordinary quality of life.

This may come as a surprise to you, but people who do extraordinary things in life are no more extraordinary than you are. The only difference is that they have learned how to develop a mastery mindset. Your mindset is everything. It is the foundation for everything that happens in your life. If you aren’t happy with where you are in life, start with changing your beliefs. We see the world through our lens of perception, which is based on our belief systems.

One of the most basic beliefs we carry about ourselves has to do with how we view and inhabit what we consider to be our personality. If you want to be successful in life and in business, you need to adopt a “growth mindset.” This is a type of person that thrives on challenge and sees failure as an opportunity for growth. Stanford University psychologist, Carol Dweck explains, “For twenty years, my research has shown that the view you adopt for yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life. It can determine whether you become the person you want to be and whether you accomplish the things you value.”

Unfortunately, many people have limiting beliefs that inhibit their potential. If this rings true for you, you aren’t alone. Limiting beliefs are the words of your monkey mind that inhibit you from achieving your dreams. What do you tell yourself every day? In the words of Henry Ford, “If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” The reality is that you have the power to choose how you want to create your life.

Are you ready to receive cutting edge strategies for accelerating success and mastering every area of your life, every month, LIVE? CLICK HERE to join my Life Mastery Accelerator program!

If you are serious about achieving success and mastering every area of your life, it requires that you commit to the following:

1. A constant desire for learning new ideas, concepts, and strategies that can enhance every aspect of your life.

I am a firm believer that investing in your learning and education is the best gift that you can give yourself. Continuous learning is key to success in the 21st century. The most successful people in any industry spend a large percentage of their time working on their personal development. Jim Rohn said it best, “Work harder on yourself than you do on your job.” Learning is important, but even more important is applying what it is that you learn. So many people get stuck in “analysis paralysis”, where they overanalyze a situation so much so that they never end up making a decision or taking action. If you want to stay one step ahead of the game in life and in business, make it a priority to adopt a learner mentality.

2. An unrelenting commitment to mastery.

Mastery requires humility, depth, perseverance, and a commitment to yourself to take the action. Have you ever wondered why some people succeed while others fail? It comes down to making the choice between two opposing mindsets – the master or the dabbler. When a master commits to something, they are in it 100%. They don’t get distracted, but rather stay focused on one path until they have achieved their goals. The dabbler is someone who likes new and exciting things, but easily becomes bored, and starts the process all over again with something else. As a result, these people never fully invest or stay committed to anything in life. Are you the dabbler or the master?

It is easy to get caught in a dabbler mentality, but if you want to achieve any success in life, you need to commit to mastery. George Leonard summed it up best in his book, Mastery: The Keys to Success and Long-Term Fulfillment, when he said, “Mastery is the path of patient, dedicated effort, without attachment to immediate results.”

3. A caring and supportive mentor with a proven track record of success that inspires you, challenges you, and guides you to achieving success in ALL areas of your life.

People who are committed to a life of mastery are resourceful. They want to learn from the best, which means that they actively seek out mentors, coaches, and role models that help them to take action in order to achieve their goals. You aren’t expected to know all of the answers. It takes a certain level of courage to start a business. Even the most hard working, driven, and committed aspiring entrepreneurs can benefit from the wisdom of someone who has ‘been there, done that’. The best mentors will help you learn and grow by sharing their knowledge and wisdom with you. This is my commitment to you.

I recently attended the Tony Robbins National Achievers Conference, also featuring Gary Vaynerchuk, & Robert Herjavec.

I would like to share with you some lessons & insights that I took from my experience. Whenever I attend a seminar or an event, such as the Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress, I always take a lot of notes.

Within 24 hours of learning something new, I review those notes again in order to make sure that I have internalized the information. Make sure that you attend live events, such as the Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress. This is one of the best ways to learn and grow.

The information and the value that you consume from a live event is incomparable to reading a book or watching a video. I’m obsessed with investing in myself because I am committed to mastery.

The knowledge that I have learned from live events is one of the major reasons why I have achieved so much success in my life.

The three main speakers at the Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress also included Gary Vaynerchuk and Robert Herjavec. I was right in the front row, which cost me more money, but it was a way more powerful experience. Tony Robbins was standing right in front of me.

At various times throughout his 3-hour talk he would grab my head and kiss it, fist bump me, and then nearing the end of the event, he came over to me and he whispered in my ear, “Write to me.” After the event, there was a crowd surrounding him, and he took my hand, kissed it and for whatever reason said, “Amazing.”

I think that he recognized who I was. I’ve sent hundreds of people to Tony Robbins seminars and I’ve sent thousands of people to his website. I’ve always believed that the best way to attract a mentor is either to add massive value to them or by you becoming more valuable so that they seek YOU out.

I’ve always wanted to become valuable enough that my mentors know who I am and they view me as an expert in my field. I don’t just want to be a fan. As I grow my brand I know that I will attract more people that I look up to in my business and in my life.

Tony Robbins – Insights and Words of Wisdom

During the Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress, he shared some of the following insights: Condition yourself with the beliefs and emotions that you want to experience every day. Emotions are the ultimate resource. When you can tap into your commitment and determination on, that is what drives to achieve what you want in life.

Everyone has an emotional home that we consistently feel – recognize what they are and condition them. Either upgrade your home or move. If certain emotions are negative, remove them. People do a lot based on their feelings, but you need to do things even when you don’t feel like it. Push yourself in spite of comfort and convenience.

Putting yourself in a peak state every day is the most important thing you can do for your business, life, and relationships. When you are in a better state, you will take more action, because the best of you is showing up. Obsession is the first step in achieving anything. Make it so important that you think about it constantly.

Massive action is the cure-all. If you have limiting beliefs, take action and change your life. I always go back to the importance of morning rituals. This is the best time to put yourself in your peak state. Live from a place of gratitude because life is too short to suffer. Appreciate all the blessings in your life. This was one of the great takeaways from Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I was actually contacted by the Tony Robbins team to partner with them in their affiliate program, as well as to offer my subscribers a $20 off site-wide coupon on orders over $100. So if you want to purchase any Tony Robbins programs or products, use coupon code MASTERY on checkout to save $20. Please note that I am now an “affiliate” for Tony Robbins and benefit financially if you decide to purchase through my link.

Robert Herjavec – Insights and Words of Wisdom

Robert is a self-made millionaire. Originally from Croatia, he came to Canada, hustled, and created opportunities that have got him to where he is today. He was a great motivation during the Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress. He is worth over 100 million dollars.

One great thing that he shared during the event was a story of a conversation that he had with Mark Cuban, an American businessman, investor, author, television personality, and philanthropist. Mark said to Robert, “Do you know why you aren’t more successful than you already are? It’s because you don’t dream big enough.”

That is a great lesson for all of us. A lot of us are afraid to dream bigger and open up our eyes. Fears, limitations, and doubts hold us back from taking our lives to the next level.

When you think on a massive scale, anything is possible. You can have it all. Short-term goals are great, but long-term goals allow you to stretch yourself. During his talk, Robert shared the following insights:

You can be wrong thousands of times, but you only need to be right, just once. You can fail many times, but when you find one thing that works, it can change your entire life. Always be honest with yourself. Experience and knowledge are more valuable than money. My desire to do better every day is more important than sleep. When you are comfortable, make a change. Comfort is the beginning of the end.

A lot of people make comfort more important than hustling. You have to be willing to sacrifice short-term gratification for long-term results. The moment that you feel that you have made it, and you get content, that is when you lose your drive and stop improving yourself. Always be improving!

Gary Vaynerchuk – Insights and Words of Wisdom

Gary believes in the importance of self-awareness; knowing your strengths and deciding what you want to master in life. It was great to see him as a central part of Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress. For myself, I want to become a master of creating valuable content.

I want to share, teach, and learn. That is what fulfills me the most in life. During his talk, Gary shared the following insights: The most important thing online is to get attention through creating content. The single biggest reason why you are not putting out enough content is that you are a perfectionist.

I can relate to this. People think that their content has to be top production quality, which holds them back from taking action. Instead of viewing it as creating content, Gary suggests that you look at it as ‘documenting'. When you do so, it takes away the pressure and expectations. You are just sharing your journey and your process of mastery.

That is why my brand is called Project Life Mastery – it is a process that I am pursuing, every day. Gary also shared his principle called, '51/49′. He suggests that you ask yourself, “Are you giving more value to your employees and customers than they are giving to yourself?” Add value to your audience and the people in your life. That is the secret to success. The key to learning faster is involvement and participation. When you are involved and you show up for your life, you get more than when you are passive.

You can learn a vast amount of knowledge, but if you have the wrong mindset, none of that knowledge will work for you. Money is a result of the value that you add. Thoughts lead to your feelings, which lead to your actions, which lead to your results.

The first element of change is awareness – model the blueprint of successful people. Rich people believe that they create their life, whereas poor people believe that life happens to them. Find situations that make you uncomfortable and move into them.

Takeaways from Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress

What does it mean to be successful? What does it mean to achieve something and to allow this to guide you? During every speaker and the entire event, the speakers shared thousands of insights on what this meant. There wasn’t one takeaway from this event. There were hundreds of suggestions and ideas that I can start to practice and implement.

I think the most important part of this event was the consistency with the three speakers. Each of them provided insight into what it meant to achieve something. That had everything to do with what you think, respond or react to and how you decide to move forward.

The message about falling, getting back up and continuing to be successful was one key takeaway that I believe can help everyone. It offers a different level of insights that most don’t believe in. Often, we fall and stay there. Don’t allow that to be your destiny. Make it even greater.

I also enjoyed the continuous theme of breaking through limitations and believing in the impossible. I believe that this is the way to achieve anything.

Often, when we are looking at where we are in the moment, we are caught up in the ideas of failure. We create limitations and don’t allow ourselves to look past this because it is difficult to see.

Creating a balance with the possible and infinite beliefs in our minds, and working towards achieving this every day is one of the main takeaways that is important to practice. Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress was focused specifically on that.

What Do You Believe?

I want to challenge every individual to begin believing that they can achieve what they want. You can take any circumstance, believe in breaking through the limitations and achieve just that. During my time at Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress, I saw three successful individuals. They started out as you and I did.

They worked, they changed their mindset, continued to believe and worked toward the success that they wanted. They allowed themselves to be driven by desire and the lofty goals and ideas that we all want to achieve.

I believe that anyone can achieve the status they want to in life. Even if your goals are different, it is possible to work toward achieving what you truly wish in life. The question is always what you want to achieve. I know that I have my goals for Project Life Mastery and I will continue to accelerate until I reach these goals. I believe that you can do the same thing with anything you are trying to do with your life.

I’m sending the same messages to you that I received from the Tony Robbins National Achievers Congress so you understand what it means to achieve your goals and to recognize what is next for you to reach the breakthroughs that you really want to.

The Tony Robbins National Achievers Conference, also featuring Gary Vaynerchuk, & Robert Herjavec was an experience that I will always remember. The lessons & insights that I learned from this event will allow me to take my business and my life to the next level.

Put yourself in environments that allow you to keep the momentum going so that you can master your life. When you attend live events you grow in ways that you didn't think were possible. Self-development is your ultimate power.

Attracting a mentor should be your #1 priority.

I am a big believer in the power of mentorship. It is one of the major reasons why I have been able to accomplish so much in my life at a relatively young age.

Don't learn from your own experience. That's far too painful.

By leveraging the expertise and knowledge of people who have been where you want to go, you can shortcut your learning curve and accelerate your results.

Are you ready to attract the mentor of your dreams?

A mentor doesn't give you all the answers to life's questions.

Rather, the job of a great mentor is to challenge and question your beliefs and views on life. They give you the space to decide who you really want to be, instead of being the person that you think you should be. By giving you their success strategies, it allows you to compress time. That is the smartest and most effective way of achieving anything in life.

Unfortunately, a lot of people stubbornly try to figure things out on their own. I hate to break it to you, but if you are doing this, you are wasting your time. The Mark Zuckerbergs and Steve Jobses of the world didn't reach their goals alone. A research study showed that 93 percent of startups admit that mentorship is instrumental to success.

The problem is that a lot of people misunderstand what it means to have a mentor and how to find one. Mentorship cannot be bought. Rather, it can only be earned. Here are 5 steps to attracting a mentor in your life. These strategies have worked for me since I first started working with mentors at the age of 20.

1. Make A List Of 3 People That You Want To Be Mentored By

Finding the right mentor is all about having the self-awareness of what it is that you want to learn. If you just ask someone to be your mentor without knowing your “why”, you are setting yourself up for failure.

I recommend that one of your mentors be a long-term goal, like a Bill Gates or a Warren Buffett. The other two mentors should be people that are more easily accessible to you, whether that's an author, an online influencer, or a successful person that you already know.

2. Focus On Adding Value To Mentors

In order to add value effectively, you need to learn more about the people that you want to be mentored by. Do your research and determine what their goals and values are. Think about how you can help to free up their time. You've got to put yourself in the shoes of the mentor.

If you try to take value from a mentor, they will resist. Mentors want to be surrounded by people that add value to them. Why will it be worthwhile for someone to mentor you? By overdelivering, you will instantly be on someone's radar.

3. Become A Person Of Value

Strive to become the kind of person that mentors want to spend time with. This will require that you build yourself up to the point where you are on the same level as your mentors. There is no way that mentors will know you as a person of value if you cannot prove that you are a valuable person.

Commit to your own personal growth and development. I promise that if you work on yourself and change your life, everything will change for you. In the words of Edgar Friedenbar, “What we must decide is perhaps how we are valuable, rather than how valuable we are.”

4. Put Yourself In Close Proximity To Your Mentors

Proximity is power. You need to put yourself in the environments where your mentors will be. You can't expect them to come to you. You've got to show up to their events, attend their seminars, or go to their mastermind events, wherever that may be in the world.

This is one of the ways that I've met a lot of my mentors and coaches. When you surround yourself with other like-minded people, it inspires you to achieve more in life. As the saying goes, “If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.” Step outside of your comfort zone, drop your ego and put yourself in environments where you know nothing. That's where the real learning happens.

5. Follow-Up With Your Mentors Consistently

Once you are on your mentor's radar, you want to stay on their radar. I have a Google spreadsheet where I make a list of all the people that I meet or want to be around. I consistently reach out to each of them. This ensures that I keep our relationship going strong. Having that consistent follow-up is key.

Your net worth is your network. It is your most important asset. When I meet people that I respect and admire, I strive to learn more about them. For example, if I know that they are into something, I'll send them a gift, without expecting anything in return. Doing so ensures that they are always seeing my name pop up, again and again.

Attracting a mentor is the first step to being successful at anything in life.

If you want to attract incredible mentors into your life, I encourage you to implement these strategies. I have been extremely fortunate to have attracted some amazing mentors in my life who have helped me achieve the success that I have today. If you put in the work and find mentors the right way, there is no limit to what you can do in this lifetime.

Renee Olstead said it best – “I encourage all of you to seek out teachers and mentors that challenge you to think for yourself and guide you to find your own voice.”

I have created a new and improved version of K Money Mastery which is called, Mastering Book Publishing!

If you're paying anyone or anything for its products or services, then you ALWAYS want to make sure that you're maximizing the value that you're getting from the experience.

If you hire a coach, mentor or invest in a training program, there is a RESPONSIBILITY on your end to ensure that you're getting value. The coach, mentor, and training program has a responsibility to deliver, as promised, and provide value, however, it's up to YOU to receive that and get the most out of it.

Being lazy, not showing up on time, not taking notes, not asking questions, not taking action – these are all things that are within YOUR control that will determine the results you get.

In this video blog, I share how you can get the most out of your life coach or mentor.

How to get the most out of your coach or your mentor. This is Stefan from ProjectLifeMastery.com coming to you from Phuket, Thailand, and in this episode of #AskStefan, I have a question from someone named Madein. The question is, “Hey Stefan, I just started a coaching program with a life coach. I have a call with him for every two weeks for 30 minutes. How do I make the most out of these coaching sessions? Thank you.”

Two different perspectives

Great question, and there's really two different ways I can answer this, two different perspectives. One as being a student myself, which I am. I'm always investing in myself. I'm always being coached. I'm always being mentored. I have coaches and mentors in my life. It's been that way since I was 18, 19 years old and I started heavily investing in myself. It paid off ever since. I think everybody should have a mentor or a coach. The best in the world have mentors and coaches. If you can't afford one, save your money, invest in it, it's always going to pay off.

The other perspective is from being a coach myself, because since I was 21 years old, I started coaching people first as a dating, confidence, and relationship coach with a company called Lifestyle Transformations, eventually getting into life coaching, and then eventually getting into also coaching people on how to build an online business. Throughout the years, I've coached hundreds of different people, so I have a lot of experience which can really help answer this question for you.

I think that, first and foremost, when you invest in anything, whether that's a coach, a mentor, a program, online training program, a seminar, you always have to accept full responsibility for getting maximum value out of whatever you invest in. You can't just invest in something and expect everything to be solved after that and not have to do any work.

If you invest in a coach or a mentor, first and foremost you have to make sure that you trust that person. You have to buy into whatever it is that they're going to be teaching you. That's very important, because if you have resistance and you're not being coachable, then you're not going to get anything from that.

My bet is that, if you've invested in a coach or a mentor, you trust that person, you've done some due diligence, you believe in them, maybe you follow them a little bit online first and foremost, and they're going to do their part. That's their profession. They have a lot of experience doing it, they have a lot of testimonials, clients they've worked with. They've had a lot of proven track record of success, and so you have to … That person's going to do their part. You have to do your part.

You have to play full out

The first and most important thing is you have to play full out. Meaning, whatever it is that you put into something is exactly what you're going to get out of it. You can't just expect that your coach is going to do everything for you.

Your coach is really there to help guide you, to help support you, to help challenge you, to help hold you accountable, to help you overcome some barriers, obstacles, blocks that might be getting in your way that you might not be seeing yourself because they have an outside perspective on you, to help provide the game plan, the step by step, and give you feedback on different things and help you make the right decisions, the right choices.

That's what they're there for, but ultimately it's up to you to do the work, which is really the hard part of anything. Grinding, hustling, putting your nose down and just doing the work that is necessary to get the value out of the coaching program. You could have the best coach in the world, he can give you all the best advice, the best information, but if you're not doing the work, if you're not applying yourself and taking action, then that's 100 percent your fault. That's your responsibility.

You can reach out to your coach and have your coach maybe help you to help find out why you're not taking action, what's stopping you, what are the obstacles, what are the roadblocks getting in the way that's preventing you from taking action and ultimately getting the results that you want. Your coach can be there for you for that as well, but again, ultimately it's up to you to make the changes necessary to get the results that you're after.

You have to make sure, first and foremost, that you play full out, you put everything in, you're taking massive action, you're being coachable, your coach says to do something, you do it. You don't question it, you don't argue it, you don't have resistance, you're just being coachable and you're trusting that person. If you don't trust them, then they're the wrong coach for you.

Trust and the method to the madness

I always remind myself of the example from the Karate Kid, where Mr. Miyagi is trying to teach Daniel's son karate and stuff, and Daniel just wants to learn the karate moves but Mr. Miyagi has him paint the fence and wax the car and sand the floor, and Daniel doesn't understand any of that sort of stuff and he has some resistance, but ultimately he trusts his mentor and he does it regardless.

I think that's an important thing, because sometimes when you're working with someone and they're coaching you on something, you might not immediately see the benefit of it, but again, there's a method to the madness. You have to trust the person and ultimately believe that this is going to help you to get to where you want to be.

Take action, listen, and be coachable. Another advice that I have is making sure that you're prepared. Every coaching session that you have, you should be prepared for that session. If you have a 30-minute coaching session, you should be spending maybe 30 minutes preparing for that session and what that means is having maybe a list of questions that you can ask your coach, challenges, obstacles, really analyzing the actions that you took, the results that you might have gotten, and coming into your sessions prepared to get maximum value from that.

If you can provide information to your coach before each session, then that's going to also help your coach be able to coach you, because it's going to help save time in that session and they're going to be caught up to speed and know exactly where you're at and going to be able to help prepare for the session also.

With all the clients that I work with, I always make sure that they send me what is called a meeting prep form, which basically allows me to see exactly where they're at, what actions they took, what challenges they had, what successes they might have had, what they want to get from this session, maybe certain questions they might have of me as well.

My clients that always get the best results are the ones that are prepared, that send me all that information beforehand. Sometimes you work with people that aren't prepared. They show up late, they're not making progress and everything, and it's sometimes a challenge to really help that person because they're not able to focus on the real things that are going to get them the results.

Rather, you're more focusing on playing catch-up with that person and helping them to resolve some of the mental challenges and the habits that they might have that's stopping them from actually applying themselves. You can always fast-track it just by preparing and just taking massive action as much as you can.

At the end of each coaching session, as well, I always recommend to have an action plan, measurable actions that you can apply for yourself that can help you make progress, so whatever you discuss with your coach, try to make it into an actionable plan, some sort of practical way, certain steps or rituals or habits or actions that you can take to ensure that you're applying what you've learned.

Action is where you get the real results

Knowledge on its own is worthless. Knowledge is only potential power. The real power is the ability to take action, and so the action is where you get the real results. Not just by listening or taking notes, which is also what you should be doing as well.

Taking notes, writing things down so that you can really remember things as much as possible. So, listening to your coach, playing full-out, taking notes, massive action. Very, very important, and I think as long as you're doing that and you're taking action with things, and every time you show up for a meeting you're enthusiastic, you're open, you're being coachable, you're listening to your coach.

Coaches love that. Coaches love students that listen to them and take action. If you do that, your coach is going to be able to provide the next steps for you and take you to an even further level, and really fast-track the progress towards where you want to go.

If you're not taking action, if you're not showing up, you're wasting your time. You're wasting your money. I find sometimes, people will come to me for coaching, and they'll want help with building an online business, but they're not even capable of applying some of the basic simple steps that I might give them.

Most of the time that I might spend with that person is helping them to overcome the obstacles and barriers of their psychology to get themselves free from those so that they can finally make progress.

A lot of people, they have fears, they have doubts, they have uncertainty, they have some confidence challenges, they have some negative habits of laziness, procrastination, all those sorts of things, and I think a coach can help you overcome those things, and I think ultimately if you can be free from some of those barriers before hiring a coach, you're going to get so much more value out of it because they're not going to have to spend as much time working on those foundational things, those foundational elements.

Invest in the training program first

I think another way of looking at it as well, one other tip that I have is that, if your coach has online training programs already available, always invest in those first. Some people come to me, for example, with Kindle Publishing and they're brand new and they want to learn how to get started with it, and oftentimes a lot of what I'll teach you might already be available on my blog or my YouTube or on one of my online courses, like Mastering Book Publishing.

My favorite people to work with are actually people that have already been through some of the training that I have. They've already applied it, they're already getting some form of results, and then people come to me and they want to take things to the next level.

What I find is because they already have a foundation, you can really ramp things up in that position and help someone double their income or really scale up their business that much faster. Because they already have a foundation, they already have a business that's already being operated.

A lot of times, if they already have training programs available, I recommend investing in those things first. It's going to be a lot more inexpensive for you. Go through it, make sure you've been through all the training, all the lessons, because again, otherwise your coach is just going to teach you things that you could've already gotten at a much cheaper price.

That's another piece of advice that I have, is just really making sure that you've consumed as much as you can in your position where your coach can really help you the best and really help you maximize the results that you're after.

Hopefully, this video has been helpful for you in some way. I want to thank you guys for watching. Leave a comment below, like this video, and subscribe for more videos like this. I'll talk to you guys soon.

how to find expert adviceFinding experts, mentors and coaches has been a vital part of my success. I initially started through reading books, eventually attending seminars, and then working with mentors one-on-one. Everything that I know and teach today has been the result of what I've learned from someone else. Through finding expert advice and working with the guru's, I've been able to fast-track my success and results.

I was recently asked by a follower of PLM about how to find expert advice and mentors. In the world of the internet, it's easier than ever to connect and reach out to almost everyone out there. There's dozens of experts and guru's in every field, but how do you know if they're credible? How do you find them and reach out to these people? Check out the video blog below to find out.

How To Find A Expert, Mentor Or Guru

how to find a mentorWith the internet it can be extremely easy to find a expert, mentor or guru on a specific topic. You can not only easily find them, but you can also reach out to them and communicate with ease. There are now resources such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn that make almost everyone accessible. Almost every expert or guru has their own blog or website, either advertising their services or themselves. In my opinion, communicating with these people is as simple as taking the step to do so!

Using Social Media

Whenever I read a book or attend a seminar, I always make an effort to reach out to the author or speaker. I enjoy looking these people up online and either liking their Facebook page, adding them as a friend, following them on Twitter, or contacting them on LinkedIn. I always want to surround myself with success and high level people and social media is the easiest way. I know there may be a time, sometime in the future, where there may be potential to work with this person or I might need their expertise. By following them through social media, it makes it easy to reach out when that time comes.

I personally have people message me daily and add me to Facebook all the time. Most are people that have watched my videos on YouTube or follow my blog in some way. People ask me for advice ALL THE TIME… and I've had plenty of people request coaching or mentorship. I always make sure that I respond to e-mails and provide the best advice I can to people, which goes to show exactly how easy it can be to reach out to someone.

Some people are easier to reach out to than others, but for the most part, experts are LOOKING to interact with their potential customers and followers. They WANT to build a relationship with you, and they WANT to help you.

Using Search Engines To Find Experts

Google, Yahoo and Bing are all fantastic for finding experts and mentors. You can just search for whatever keywords you want and find someone on whatever topic you want. If you're looking for health or fitness advice, search for it. There will be millions of websites that show up of people offering health and fitness advice. These experts are usually very transparent about their services, what they offer, their results, etc… You can see whether or not they are the “real deal” or if it's just a bunch of B.S.

Websites To Find Experts

There are many websites you can visit to find experts in different fields, such as FindAnExpertOnline.com. I personally enjoy using message boards and forums as a way to get expert advice and reach out to people. A online marketing forum that I'm apart of is called Warrior Forum, where you can discuss online business strategies and get your questions answered. I've even found a coach that I've worked with through it. I've also met high level people through Meetup.com, where you can attend meetup events and meet experts in different fields.

How To Know If They Are Credible

In the world of the internet, it's easy for someone to be full of crap. You need to find out if someone is credible or not. If someone is offering a product online, and you're unsure if it's a scam or not, I recommend for people to do their due diligence and try to learn more about the product or expert. You can simply search up the product online and see what people are saying about it in the message boards. The good news is that nearly all products online offer money-back guarantees, so it's extremely easy to test-drive things. I personally use Clickbank to sell many of my products and I'm required to offer a 60-day money back guarantee. It's easy for people to get their money back if they're unhappy with something, and Clickbank handles all of that. This makes investing in a guru or expert very low-risk.

Apply What They Teach

The best way to find out if the person is credible or is offering good advice is to apply what they teach. This is the only way to know if it's right for you. Most experts offer free advice online which you can easily go through and apply to your own life. If it works, great, then it might be worthwhile to follow more of what this person is teaching. If not, then move on.

I personally started learning about Tony Robbins online years ago and it wasn't until I started applying what he was teaching to my life that I really became a fan. The same goes with other mentors that I follow. The more results I get from applying what the person teaches, the more associated I become to that guru.

Surround Yourself With Success

Finding experts, mentors and coaches is worth it. In my opinion, you are short-changing yourself if you're not actively looking for and working with experts. In my video blog The 7 Reasons Why You Need A Life Coach I talk about how I've cut off years of learning and fast-tracked my results with business, fitness, dating, and every other area of my life. I'm personally apart of mastermind groups of successful people, where I can easily get any question answered or receive support on any problem I'm facing. It's invaluable to have a network like that.

It all starts with reaching out to people and building relationships. You have to be proactive. Your net worth is your network!
