If you have been searching for an answer for how to find yourself, I'm here to support you through that process.

We've all experienced moments in our lives when nothing seems to make sense. However, it doesn't mean that your life is over. The key is to not get stuck in an emotional rut. What would happen if you shifted your mindset around what lost means?

Feeling lost is actually a good thing. It's a sign that you are ready for something to change. You may not know what it looks like yet, but a transformation is coming, in some shape or form.

Are you ready to learn 7 ways to find yourself when you're feeling lost?

If you want to learn how to find happiness, look inside of yourself.

Happiness is an inside job. It is the result of being present with ourselves. If we don't have a solid understanding of who we are, then we end up searching outside of ourselves for things or people that can fill that void.

In his book, Stumbling on Happiness, Dan Gilbert points out that we all have a primal brain mechanism to help us synthesize the same magnitude of happiness, no matter our experiences.

He says, “Our longings and our worries are both, to some degree largely overblown, because we have within us the capacity to manufacture the very commodity we are constantly chasing when we choose our experience.” Gilbert's research shows us that we have the ability to appreciate most things that happen in our lives if we choose to.

There are hundreds of self-help books that are written about “how to find yourself.” However, most of us don't know what that even looks like.

The mere phrase feels like such a daunting thing to achieve. As a result, a lot of people get frustrated and upset when they can't find the answer. However, we forget that finding yourself looks different for everyone. As such, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to it.

Life is all about rediscovering who YOU are and what YOU want. You aren't expected to have it all figured out, nor should you. The path to finding yourself requires that you commit to becoming a better version of yourself.

Personal growth isn't always fun.

It's not a linear process. There will be highs and lows. That's just how life works. As Oswald Chambers once said, “If you are going through a time of discouragement, there is a time of great personal growth ahead.”

People become so fixated on the final outcome that they forget to enjoy the journey of becoming. As a result, when they don't get to where they want to go, they lose faith. In order to continue leveling up our lives, it requires that we do a lot of inner work to uncover painful emotions and limiting beliefs that are holding us back in life.

If you are ready to engage in some deep soul work, you can expect to come across aspects of yourself that may be difficult to accept. However, it is during the dark times that we find our light. There is little progress that we can make in this life without a strong understanding of who we are.

Let's explore 7 ways for how you can find yourself when you feel lost in life.

1. Feel Everything

If you feel lost, have you ever sat back and observed what that feels like in your body? Everything lost is meant to be found, but it's our job to figure out what that looks like. How to find yourself when you lose yourself? Try feeling.

Sounds easier said than done, right? The natural response is to suppress negative emotions because they don't feel good. However, you can't climb out of a hole and find your light if you don't face the darkness first.

Your emotional state is your compass; it answer's life's most difficult questions and guides you in the direction of your dreams. If you feel lost, go inward and listen to your feelings. Your intuitive self never lies.

When you tune into what matters to you, you live in alignment with your soul's purpose. Make the effort to know yourself more and become comfortable enough to live as that person. It is enough. You are enough.

2. Unplug

Technology has offered us many opportunities. However, it has also disconnected us from ourselves and others. If you are constantly trolling on social media and focusing on other people's lives, you won't be staying in your own lane, so to speak. Technology can drain our energy and send our inner critic spiraling.

Platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram provide so many ways for us to compare ourselves to others. We forget that a lot of the images of so-called “perfect lives” and “happy faces” aren't always based in reality.

2016 study called, “Pinterest or Thinterest” found that fitness images on Pinterest contributed to upward social comparison issues and intentions to engage in extreme weight-loss behaviors. Sources like these only take people farther away from their own happiness.

Try taking a weekend and unplugging from social media and technology. Tap into your creativity, do things that make you happy and connect with people on a deeper level. You will be surprised what a powerful impact this can have on your emotional and mental state.

3. Meditate

This is one of the most powerful tools for learning how to find yourself. One way to fall in love with your essence is to join with it through the process of meditation. As you meditate, you clear your mind and are able to cleanse yourself of worry, doubt, and fear.

In this place, we are able to connect with the purest form of self-love. In the words of Yut, “Meditation is a way to know your true self. All you need to know is within yourself, seeking it externally in the world will only take you so far. You need to look within.”

Research shows that tapping into our ability to turn our attention inward has the ability to empower and heal us. In particular, it can help soothe anxiety and increase our overall well-being.

Oftentimes, when people feel lost, it's their mind that is telling them they're lost. This is why it's important to go inward and find stillness. Doing so allows you to separate fact from fiction.

When I talk about the power of meditation a lot of people tell me, “Stefan, I can't shut my mind off.” That's how I felt when I first tried to meditate. However, it's not about ignoring your thoughts. Rather, it's about being present with yourself. When thoughts come up, notice them and then let them pass.

Since I started meditating I feel more empowered, on an emotional, mental, and spiritual level. More importantly, I feel more in control of my mind. This ensures that I don't ever feel lost because I know that I am connected to something greater than myself.

4. Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

If you are feeling lost there is a chance that you are looking for a change in life. It's easy to lose yourself when you feel bored and uninspired. When we stay inside our zone of comfort, we disconnect with what makes us come alive inside.

I encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and do something different. How can you modify your daily routine? Is there a new activity that you've been wanting to do or a new skill that you want to learn? Switch it up and reinvent yourself! You may learn something about yourself that you never knew before.

Don't be afraid to take some risks and do something that scares you. If you never try, you won't ever know how powerful you can be. I believe that we tap into our innate potential when we take risks. Doing the thing you think you cannot do is how you figure out what you are made of.

Every opportunity that I've been given in life has come as a result of getting out of my comfort zone and stepping into my fear. What would you do if you weren't afraid?

5. Embrace Alone Time

How does it feel to spend time alone with yourself? A lot of people cringe at the thought of doing this. There is a misconception that people that spend time alone are lonely. This is far from true.

Spending time alone means that you are enjoying being present with yourself. I believe that finding some quiet time for ourselves amidst the busyness of life isn't a luxury. Rather, it's a priority. Everything that you need is already inside of you. If you keep looking to others to fill a void, you are going to feel lost.

My morning ritual is my time to go inward and spend time alone engaging in activities that nourish my mind, body, and soul. This time of solitude allows me to reflect, recharge, and energize myself for the day ahead.

The relationship that you have with yourself is one of the most important relationships you will ever have. In the words of Paulo Coelho, “If you are never alone you cannot know yourself, and if you don’t know yourself, you will begin to fear the void.”

6. Seek Out A Passion

We all experience moments in life when we get down on ourselves or don't have the motivation to do something. If these feelings last long enough, they can wreak havoc on our self-esteem. The best way to counteract these negative emotions is to do something that you love.

What makes you come alive inside? When do you feel the happiest? It could be as simple as going for a run or reading a book. Tapping into your passion is all about getting in touch with your authentic self. Dr. Phil McGraw reminds us that, “Your authentic self is who you are when you have no fear of judgment, or before the world starts pushing you around and telling you who you’re supposed to be.”

Once you start to engage in activities that ignite a fire in your soul, not only will you feel happier and more confident, but you will also feel more in control of your world. In this place, there is no room for fear.

7. Ask For Help

If none of the above helps, remember that you aren't alone. There are so many people in the world who love you and that are here to help. Don't be afraid to reach out for support, whether that's in the form of a life coach, a mentor, a friend, or a counselor. Doing so will give you the tools that you need in order to move forward with your life in a positive direction.

Learning how to find yourself can transform every area of your life.

Sometimes we have to lose ourselves in order to find ourselves again. Don't get down on yourself if you don't know where you are going. Life has an interesting way of working itself out, even when it feels like we are going the wrong way.

The best thing that you can do is flow with life instead of against it. We can't always predict what is going to happen in our lives, but we always have a choice how we are going to respond. If you feel lost; or the next time that you do; remember that dark times don't last, but strong people do. That is what you are.

Don't ever forget, “Sometimes when things are falling apart, they may actually be falling into place.”

I hope my words have given you some comfort in knowing that feeling lost is a natural part of this wild and beautiful journey that we call, life. And I hope that I've provided you with some direction on how to find yourself.

Creating and building an online business changed our lives. Let me tell you how.

My girlfriend Tatiana and I simply cannot deny this fact. Creating and building an online business changed our lives.

There are multiple areas of life. Obviously, my online business has improved my work and financial situations in ways I could never have imagined. That was to be expected.

What wasn't expected is how my online business set me on a path to finding the love of my life, improving my confidence, and helping me change the world.

Tatiana and I recently held a live stream on my YouTube channel, where we discussed how creating and building an online business changed our lives.

We had a lot of fun doing it, and I think we provided a ton of value for you. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Creating An Online Business Changed Our Lives In More Ways Than We Thought Possible.

Tatiana and I were more than happy to let you know how an online business changed our lives during the 90-minute live stream. I would suggest watching the entire thing in the video above, but I'll share a highlight from it with you.

First of all, without my online business, my relationship with Tatiana would have never worked. Let me explain what I mean.

When Tatiana and I met, there was instant chemistry. I knew what I was looking for in a woman, and Tatiana is it. She's beautiful, driven, and wants to make an impact on the world. Once I met her I knew I had to give our relationship a chance to work.

There was only one issue. Tatiana had an extended trip scheduled to Brazil almost right after our first date. She and I both knew the chemistry was there, but we also knew that we could drift apart if she's spending a few months in Brazil and I'm in Vancouver.

That's when I decided to take action. I picked up and joined Tatiana in Brazil to make this relationship work. It may sound crazy, but I knew she was someone special so I committed to action.

None of this would have been possible if I didn't have my online business.

Thanks to Project Life Mastery, I have the luxury of being able to just pick up and go wherever I want in the world, whenever I want. I'm not chained to my 9-5 job or have to lose vacation days if I want to visit someone special to me. I am my own boss. It's one of the most freeing feelings in the world.

Being able to travel is great, but I didn't want to travel without this amazing new woman. Tatiana felt the same way, so we both decided it was time for something new. If we both had online businesses we could travel the world together.

The question was where should we turn? Enter The Amazing Selling Machine.

Tatiana and I did the course separately, but we each launched our first product around the same time. I actually had to keep up with Tatiana, so it was great that she pushed me and kept me going along the way.

ASM opened up a brand new aspect of my online business and started Tatiana on her path to financial freedom.

An online business changed our lives.

In a relationship, you're either growing together or growing apart. Thanks to ASM, we were able to grow and have success together.

The Amazing Selling Machine is real. So are the results. The reason for the video above is to show you just that and hopefully remove any doubt you may have. I've had success in this space, and so can you.

What are you waiting for?

The post 5 Ways That Fitness Can Help You Master All Areas Of Life appeared first on Project Life Mastery.

]]>

Health and fitness have always been a top priority in my life. I believe that maintaining a healthy balanced life is essential for happiness and well-being. The best way to achieve balance is by mastering every area of your life.

That is why I wanted to invite Anand Jobanputra, a Strength and Fat Loss Coach, author, and Founder of Underdog Strength, a website dedicated to providing practical fitness, nutrition, and motivation tips, to write a guest post to talk about 5 ways that fitness can help you master all areas of life.

Take it away Anand!

I would like to share with you 5 ways that fitness can help you master all areas of life. You probably already know the importance and benefits of physical fitness for health and well-being. Given that we have become more sedentary over the years, taking care of our health has become more important than ever before.

An unhealthy body and a healthy mind simply do not go hand in hand.

Several research studies have shown that a sedentary lifestyle has been associated with mental health disorders. What most people fail to see is that the benefits of pursuing a fitness goal are beyond physical.

If the benefits of fitness are so far-reaching, then why is it that so many people today are unhealthy?

In my experience, one of the biggest reasons for this is that people don’t create short and long-term fitness goals. Simply going to the gym and working out, without any goals, is not a great motivator. On the other hand, if you set specific goals with regard to your fitness regime, you will be much more motivated to achieve them.

Watch the video below:

Take my example – I used to be morbidly obese growing up, weighing over 275 lbs. I used to work out here and there, but I never achieved any long-lasting results. When I decided to set a goal of losing 100 lbs in one year, that’s when I saw the real results. Not only did I achieve my goal, I actually exceeded it by losing over 125 lbs.

You can clearly see a physical transformation here, but what most people fail to see is the mental transformation that took place. I can say, without a doubt, that my mindset has completely changed by pursuing this goal. It has taught me some valuable life lessons, which I have been able to apply to other areas of my life. You can learn more about my transformation here.

Below are 5 ways that fitness can help you master every area of your life:

1. Fitness teaches You How To Embrace Failure

When pursuing your fitness goals, you will inevitably deal with failure along the way. Failure can be a great opportunity to learn and adjust.

For example, if your goal is to lose weight and to look a certain way, you will hit plateaus where you are not making progress. Maybe your weight has stalled. During these times, you can make adjustments to your diet and training in order to make further progress.

The same techniques can be used when you face failure and plateaus in life. When you view failure as an opportunity to grow is when you achieve mastery in all areas of your life. Michael Jordan said it best, “I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

2. Fitness inspires You To Set and Achieve Your Goals

Fitness has given me the confidence to set goals and achieve them. There are a lot of people who set goals, but fail to achieve them because they lack the confidence to achieve them. Almost anyone can achieve small fitness goals. These small victories can be a huge confidence booster and will give you the motivation to achieve even bigger goals.

The best goals are S.M.A.R.T. goals, which stand for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound goals.

For example, if your goal is to ‘lose some weight’ then you will most likely not achieve anything significant. My personal S.M.A.R.T. goal was to lose 100 lbs. in a year. This meant that I had to lose roughly 2 lbs. per week to get there.

Let’s break it down:

Specific: The goal of losing 100 lbs. is a specific number

Measurable: I weighed myself using a weight a scale. I would also keep track of body measurements to make sure I was making progress towards my goal.

Achievable: Losing 100 lbs seems like a scary goal for most people. But if you break it down to 2 lbs. per week, it doesn’t seem that intimidating does it?

Relevant: Your goals have to be relevant to you. If you want to lose weight, you should do it because you want to, not because someone tells you to. If your goals are intrinsic, you are more likely to achieve them.

Time-Bound: Without a deadline, your goal is just a dream. A deadline not only creates a sense of urgency but it also gives you a date to look forward to.

Once you learn how to set S.M.A.R.T. goals and achieve them, you can easily apply the same goal setting process to other areas of your life.

3. Fitness Improves Your Work Ethic

Any goal that is worthwhile requires an insane amount of work ethic. Most people underestimate how much work it actually takes to achieve a significant goal.

With fitness, you may have the best coach, training program, and supplements to support you, but you have to put in the work. No one else can do it for you.

While it’s important to have long-term goals, you have to focus on the actual process that will get you there. The hard work that you put into your fitness goals will help you develop your work ethic for life.

4. Fitness Helps You Develop Good Habits

Habits are important because they lead to success in the long term. Motivation and willpower are limited resources, which run out pretty fast. Habit is what keeps you going when they run out.

In his book, The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business, author Charles Duhigg talks about how we program our minds and bodies with the actions that we take or do not take on a regular basis.

According to the book, exercising and tracking what you eat are two of the eight ‘Keystone Habits’. Keystone Habits are those habits that are more important than other habits. This is because these habits can cause a chain reaction of other good habits, which will ultimately lead to your success.

If you exercise regularly, you will find that you also eat better, drink less, go to bed early, and increase productivity. Improving one keystone habit can help improve multiple things at the same time.

When you are new to fitness, you need a lot of motivation to go to the gym and eat healthily. Over time, if you make it a habit, it gets so ingrained in you that it doesn’t take much motivation to workout at all. In fact, you may find that it takes you willpower, not to workout and eat healthily.

5. Fitness Teaches You To Have Patience

In this era of instant gratification, patience is more valuable than ever. Even when it comes to fitness, people look for shortcuts to reach their goals. If someone wants to lose weight, they try to look for secrets or the magic pill that will help them get their dream body. We all know that these things don’t work.

Once you’re no longer a beginner, progress slows down over time. This is where patience can help you win in the long term. Most people suffer from shiny object syndrome. If they don’t see results right away, they move on to the next thing and the cycle continues.

With any fitness goal, you learn to trust the process and know that the results will come if you put in the work, one rep at a time. In the words of George Savile, “The man who is a master of patience is a master of everything else.”

These are 5 ways that fitness can help you master your life. If you want to take your life to the next level but don’t know how fitness is a great place to start!

When you pursue and achieve your fitness goals, your success will carry over into all areas of your life.

Anand is a Strength & Fat Loss Coach, Powerlifter and Author. After going through a major physical transformation, he has dedicated his life to helping many others achieve the same. Do you want to be happier and live an extraordinary life? The recipe is quite simple. Life-altering, take-your-breath-away moments are great, but those aren’t the experiences that will bring you the most joy in life.

Happiness is a universal emotion. Unfortunately, a lot of people think that living an extraordinary life is a lofty, unachievable goal, but this is far from true. Financial wealth and materialistic possessions will not bring you happiness.

If you want to be happier and live an extraordinary life, you need to be grateful for the extraordinary things that already exist in your life. Sometimes it’s the small things that mean the most. The reason that something is extraordinary in your life is because of how you feel about it. What you feel, you attract.

In the words of Mandy Hale, “Happiness is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to look like, and celebrating it for everything it is.” What does happiness mean to you?

In Bonnie Ware’s book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying: A Life Transformed by the Dearly Departing, she found that one of the top regrets that people talked about before they died was that they didn’t allow themselves to experience more happiness.

New research suggests that capturing the mundane experiences is actually what may bring us unexpected happiness in the future (Zhang, Kim, & Brooks, 2014). Savour the small moments in life, because in the end they may be the experiences that you remember the most. Every day I focus on rituals that inspire me to live in a constant state of happiness.

Happiness is a daily practice. Once I made the decision to enjoy each day of my life to the fullest and conditioned my mind to experience extraordinary pleasure from the simple things, every area of my life transformed, and so can yours.

True happiness comes from within; it’s an inside job. I believe that we all have a higher self, otherwise known as the person that we aspire to be. Who do you aspire to be? Step into that role with confidence and determination. When you face obstacles or challenges in life, step back and ask yourself, “What would my highest self do?” When you do so, it allows you to be more self-aware and make more conscious decisions.

If you want to be happier and live an extraordinary life, you need to make it a priority to master every area of your life. That is the recipe for true happiness and fulfillment. I’m not perfect, but I do the work by way of making the commitment to continuously grow and evolve in all areas of my life.

In the words of T. Harv Eker, “How you do anything is how you do everything in life.” Do you want to be happier and live an extraordinary life? The truth is, that all you have to do is to act “as if” happiness is already your reality. Only YOU have the power to create it. It's time to take action!

The other day I had an intense experience.

My friend and life coach invited me to a spiritual ceremony that was taking place here in Vancouver, which I decided to check out. A shaman from Peru by the name Diego was in town for a few days hosting this event. The ceremony was based around the use of a ancient medicine called “Ayahuasca”, also known as the “teacher plant”, which has been used for thousands of years by the indigenous people of the Amazon for holistic healing, empowerment, and spiritual insight.

An active ingredient of the Ayahuasca brew is DMT, which is naturally produced in the human brain, known for causing psychological and neurological states. DMT is believed to play a role in the visual effects of natural dreaming, and also near-death experiences and other mystical states.

And so the purpose of Ayahuasca is to induce you into a full state of consciousness – a state where you lose total control, and every fear, insecurity, and your “inner demons” arise.

The experience can be so intense, as a lot of childhood traumas and past experiences which have been suppressed for years come up and you're faced to confront them. The process of “letting go” and surrendering to what you're facing has been proven to be transformative.

The taking of Ayahuasca has been associated with the cures of depression, addictions, cancers, and is known for many other spontaneous remissions. For others, it is used to clear emotional blocks and to gain a sense of peace.

ayahuasca brewIt is said that many notable celebrities have publicly discussed their use of Ayahuasca, such as Sting, Tori Amos, and Paul Simon.

For myself, I don't have anything serious going on in my life or anything needing to “cure.” My intent with Ayahuasca was to destroy any fear, anxiety or limitations that have been holding me back – and to take the level of love I have for myself and others to another level. And in my ceremony, I feel I accomplished that.

The experience I went through is impossible to describe.

It was intense. When I was at the peak of it, I felt the most pain I've ever been through in my life. It was a near-death experience. My life flashed before my eyes and it seems as though I felt what it was like to be dead.

Everyone is given a bucket at the ceremony, as a way of purging yourself of your “inner demons” is through vomiting.

As a fear or inner demon would arise, I had to eventually learn to surrender to it. The more I'd fight it or resist, the stronger and more painful it'd get. When I'd finally surrender, I'd end up vomiting into the bucket and it was like I was shooting the fear and anxiety into the bucket. It was out.

I can relate to this other persons experience with Ayahuasca:

But after forcing down the foul-tasting brew, she was catapulted to a place so dark her husband feared he had ‘lost his wife to the world of spirits'. Her life flashed before her as the hallucinogen took hold. She faced demons, saw herself as a terrified four-year-old and curled up on the floor, shivering, retching and muttering for two days.

‘I think I went through an experience of death at a certain point, when I was no longer a body or a soul or a spirit or anything,' Allende says matter-of-factly. ‘There was just a total, absolute void that you cannot even describe because you are not. And I think that's death.'

Nevertheless, the process proved transformative. Allende emerged aching but lucid and was able to complete [a trilogy she was writing], now being adapted for film by the co-producers of The Chronicles of Narnia.

When I finally “let go” and surrendered to the fears, I felt more and more at peace. Eventually, I was euphoric. I had never felt that way in my entire life. I felt happy. I felt excited. I was in this loving state. I loved myself, my creator, and everyone around me. I felt this sense of joy and love for everyone that I know.

As I laid there in this state of joy and happiness recovering from the experience, all of a sudden someone started playing music. We all begun singing. The songs were all about love and peace. It was the most incredible experience I've ever had.

I left the ceremony better off. I'm happy I went through it. In many ways, I feel like a different person. As if I purged a lot of negative energy and tension that was built up through childhood and was free from much of my past.

For anyone interested in learning more about Ayahuasca, I recommend googling it.
