What it’s REALY like to be a millionaire. Is this something you have ever thought about? Many people have an idealized notion of what it means to be a millionaire.

Just because someone is a millionaire, that doesn’t necessarily mean that their lifestyle aligns with their bank account.

Most successful millionaires do not live how you think they do. Not only that, but they set themselves apart from others by the skills that they have mastered; like confidence, discipline, emotional intelligence, and money management; to name a few.

Becoming a millionaire doesn’t happen overnight. I know that many of you have goals and aspirations of joining the ‘millionaire club’ one day, so I’m happy to share my story with you.

Are you ready to learn what it’s REALLY like to be a millionaire? You may be surprised by what I have to say.

Since I was 17 years old, becoming a millionaire was a goal of mine. I became a millionaire when I was 28 years old.  When I achieved the label of ‘millionaire', it didn’t mean that much to me, like I thought it would.

A more pivotal moment in my life was the point at which I was making a 6-figure salary. That is when my life transformed. I was able to travel, quit my 9-5 job, and I didn’t have to worry about money. I had finally achieved financial freedom.

This is what it’s REALLY like to be a millionaire.

A lot of people get consumed with the idea of making ‘big’ money, fast. Adopting this get rich quick mentality can be a form of ego gratification or an insecurity.

When you are obsessed with making a lot of money, it is easy to lose sight of what really matters most in life – happiness. The fact is that money does not buy happiness.

Research shows that wealth may make it harder for you to appreciate simple pleasures in life, and that’s bad news for your mindset, given that most of life is made up of simple moments that have a lasting impact on our lives.

Michael Norton, co-author of the book, Happy Money: The Science of Happier Spending, suggests that, while this is all well and good, the simple pleasures in life don’t seem as exciting as the extraordinary ones.

However, he points out that you can shift this perspective by giving up a simple pleasure for a period of time, which will allow you to savor it even more when you bring it back into your life.

Oftentimes our favorite moments in life don’t involve extravagant things. Rather, they are simple things, like a conversation that left you laughing for hours with people that you love.

This is what it’s REALLY like to be a millionaire.

As many of you know, I preach the value of life mastery. I believe that relationships, health, and positive emotions trump money. You can have all the money in the world, but still be depressed, lonely, and unhealthy. In my eyes, that’s not a definition of success. That’s failure.

I know that I said earlier that I don’t think that money can buy happiness, but there are some circumstances where I believe that it can.

Money allows you to travel the world and experience new and exciting things. Memories of places that I’ve gone and the people whom I’ve shared those experiences with have brought an abundance of joy and happiness to my life.

Money also allows you to invest in yourself. If you aren’t growing, you are dying. The more that you are progressing in life, the happier you will be. For example, I am able to purchase things like a PEMF EarthPulse mat for my bed, which improves my sleep, so that I can perform at my best, every day.

Lastly, one of the biggest things that money provides you with is time. When you leverage it correctly, you can use time to do more of what you really love.

To make a million dollars you need to become someone of value and develop incredible habits that translate to all areas of your life. That is what I am most proud of in my life. The money that I’ve made as a result of the work I’ve done is merely a secondary benefit.

This is what it’s REALLY like to be a millionaire.

Jim Rohn once said, “The greatest reward in becoming a millionaire is not the amount of money that you earn. It is the kind of person that you have to become to become a millionaire.”

Are you ready to upgrade your lifestyle? Be proactive and strive to become the best version of yourself. When you commit to life mastery, anything is possible.

I would like to answer a question that someone sent me recently, which was, “Stefan, what is the easiest and fastest way for me to make money online?” In essence, he is wondering, “How do I get rich quick?” This is the wrong question to be asking. It frustrates me because it reflects a dabbler mentality. I bare no judgment, because I used to adopt this mindset.

I know how it feels to live in scarcity mode. I’ve been down that path, and trust me when I say that it’s not a path that you want to take.  You need to realize that there is no short-term fix for a long-term situation. Thinking to yourself, “How do I get rich quick?” presupposes that you are not doing what it takes in order to build a successful business that is profitable and sustainable, long-term. With this mentality, you are focusing on short cuts and gimmicks.

In the words of Steve Maraboli, “Get rich quick schemes are for the lazy and unambitious. Respect your dreams enough to pay the full price for them.”

Unfortunately, a lot of people choose to take the easy path, instead of the road that is less traveled. Even though this path may be more difficult, it leads you to a much higher level of success. Building a sustainable business that makes you passive income and that allows you to create a certain lifestyle requires blood, sweat, and tears. Anything of value requires determination, patience, risk, sacrifice, energy, and time. That is how you become a successful entrepreneur.

Yes, there will be obstacles and failures along the way, but that is how the path of success works.   It’s the thousands of hours that you practice in private that you get rewarded for in public. A lot of people don’t have the belief or the confidence in themselves to take massive action. You need to learn how to love the process because you may not see any results for months, maybe even years.

It’s like planting a seed in the ground. You need to water the seed consistently so that roots will grow in the ground. Don’t stop watering. When you keep watering, you will get rewarded for it. As long as you keep taking action, eventually the seed sprouts and it grows more and more. Before you know it, you will get excited, because you will start seeing the fruits of your labor. That is what a master does. Eventually, your business will become a secure, sustainable income source that provides a lifestyle for you and your family. That is how building a business works.

Don’t be a dabbler and give up when you don’t get results fast enough. I promise you that when you consistently take action towards something and you put in the work, you will succeed. Short-term money isn’t secure income. You need to diversify yourself and build multiple pillars in your business. I don’t want you to ask yourself, “How do I get rich quick?” Rather, ask yourself, “How can I build something of value that will provide me with sustainable income?” Even though it will take longer to achieve it, it’s worth it.

Get a job, be an employee, and build your business on the side. Get a part-time job; get two or three! If you are desperate, that is what a job is there for. Be resourceful. If you can’t be resourceful, then the world of business is not for you. Don’t ever put yourself in a place of desperation. Build something that you are proud of and that is something of quality, and over-deliver, time and time again. That is how you develop a raving fan culture, and that is what will allow you to build an amazing brand. Commit to mastery and do whatever it takes to achieve your dreams.

How bad do you want it? If you can’t find a way, make the way. When a dabbler hits a wall, they jump ship. When a master hits a wall, they break through the wall, no matter what, because they are committed to doing whatever it takes.

It’s time to get out of the dabbler mentality. I wish I had received this advice when I first started on my journey. I have a free course, where I share 7 different ways that I make money online. The model that you choose depends on your vision and what you want to create in life. Don’t base your criteria on the fastest way to make money. What are you passionate about? There are many paths that you can take, and they are all effective, but it is up to YOU to make them a reality.

My free course will provide you with some clarity with regards to the different directions that you can go with your business, based on what I’ve done. Whatever business model that you choose, make sure that you commit to mastery, and learn to fall in love with the process, without attaching yourself to the outcome. Robin Sharma said it best, “To arrive at a place called mastery, you must commit to daily and rigorous practice. Enjoy practicing your craft for its own sake, without turning your attention to your ultimate destination. Understand, once and for all, that the journey is as important as the destination.” I believe in you.

Video transcript

All right. What's up, guys? Stefan here from projectlifemastery.com and it is Q&A time. I've got a question here from someone that I'm going to answer in today's video. It's a question I get asked a lot, probably some variation of a few times a day to be honest with you, and it's a question that frustrates me a little bit because it's a dabbler-based question. The answer that I give to this question is probably the answer that I know a lot of people do not want to hear, but it's an answer that I believe that everybody needs to hear. I want to be a hundred percent honest in my response to this.

I can relate to this question because I used to think it. I got no judgment. I've been there. I've been the dabbler mentality. I've been in scarcity in my life when I was desperate, just getting started so I got no judgment of this, but I've also been on the other side. I've been through the path of where this question leads and gotten to that result and it's the wrong path. It's the path that you do not want to take. I've been through the ups and downs. I've built successful businesses now, and I'm more evolved that I can give you a much better answer today than I ever could five years ago.

Not only that, I've worked with thousands of entrepreneurs, and I've learned from their successes and also their failures, their mistakes. The question here is from John. John wants to know, “Stefan, what is the easiest and fastest way for me to make money online?” John wants to know, “How can I get rich quick? How can I make money in the shortest, easiest way with little effort and the shortest duration possible?” This, my friend, is the wrong question that you should be asking. This question has lead me down a path that you do not want to end up at, and I've been down that path.

The problem with the question is that it's a short-term thinking mentality, and the truth is, listen close, there is no short-term fix for a long-term situation. Thinking this mindset, “How can I get rich quick? How can I make money the easiest, fastest way?” It presupposes that you're not willing to do what it takes to really build a successful business that's profitable and sustainable long-term. With this thinking, with this mentality, you're focusing on shortcuts. You're focusing on the gimmick, the trick, the loophole. That's what's going to appeal to you. You're going to buy into that.

Often times, when you buy into that, it's depending on a strategy that's not going to work long-term. None of those tricks, loopholes, taking advantage of a certain situation, that's not going to lead to long-term wealth. That's not going to solve your problem. It's not going to create the life that you really want. In fact, in many cases, it's going to get you into trouble. It's going to maybe make you a little bit of money but it's not going to last. You're not building anything of value. You're not building an asset. You're not building a brand.

I see many people time and time again, they're just trying to solve a situation in life where they're totally desperate or they're looking to take the path of least resistance. They're looking for the shortcut. They don't want it … If there are two different paths, they want to take the path that is the easiest instead of the road that's less traveled. The road less traveled, even though it might be a lot more challenging, a lot more difficult, even though you might get some scrapes and bruises along the way, it leads you to a path, to the result of a much higher level of success than you ever could possibly imagine, a lot further than the other person that's taking the path of the shortcut.

The road less traveled is going to take you to that sense of pride, and wellbeing, and fulfillment, and making a difference, and adding value to people's lives, building something of meaning in your life that you can be proud of. That's what you want to build. That's what you want to do. That requires a longer term thinking. That requires you thinking it's a marathon. It's not a sprint.

Listen. To build a business, a real legitimate business that makes you money, that makes you passive income, that allows you to create a certain lifestyle that can allow you to create wealth in your life, that requires a lot of work because anything of value in life requires a lot of work, a lot of work, a lot of risks, a lot of sacrifices, a lot of just gritting it out, and persevering, and going through the trials and tribulations along the way, the obstacles, the failures, the ups, and downs. That is the path of success. You can't sugarcoat that.

I'm being a hundred percent honest with you guys. I've been through that path. I can tell you guys so many experiences and stories from my life that I don't publicly share because why bother? Times of hitting rock bottom, and adversity, and pulling all-nighters, and making sacrifices in other aspects of my life to get to where I'm at today, it's the thousands of hours that you practice in private that you get rewarded for in public. A lot of people, they don't want to hear that. They're intimidated by that. They're afraid of that. They don't have the confidence. They don't have the belief. They don't have the mindset.

They're caught up dabbling, looking for this shortcut opportunity where they can make some money from. What happens is they don't make money fast enough. They don't get rich in the next month. They don't get results in the next three months, and so they throw in the towel. They give up. They jump onto new opportunity, the new shiny object. Then they repeat the same cycle. They are looking for the short-term return from that. They think, “Hey, you know what? If I'm going to put 30 days into something or if I'm going to invest my time and money, that I better make money within 30 days. I better make money within the next three months.”

It doesn't work that way. That's not how business is. Business requires you sacrificing your time, effort, sweat, blood, money, whatever it takes to building something that you don't see any return from in some cases for a few months. That's the reality of it.

It's like planting a seed in the ground. You plant a seed in the ground and you come back and you water it. Two days later, you're not going to see anything there. There's going to be no visible immediate result that you see from that. A lot of people, they're like, “Oh, I haven't seen the result yet,” so they give up. They walk away from it. No, that's not how it works. You got to keep watering it. You got to keep fertilizing it. What happens is when you consistently take action towards something, and you sacrifice the short-term gain that you get from it, and you put in the hours, you put in the work, you're consistent with that, you're adopting the mastery mentality, then what happens is something magical that you can't even see, the beginnings of something that you have to trust and have faith is going to lead to something much bigger.

When you water that seed, there are roots that are being grown underground. You can't see it. It's invisible to your eye but it's happening. You got to keep watering it. You got to be consistent with that. When you water, you get rewarded for it. When you keep going, when other people would give up and throw in the towel, that's what's going to lead you getting the results that most people dream of. As long as you keep taking action, eventually that seed sprouts and it starts to grow. Before you know it, you get excited because now you see the result.

You see the fruits of your labor and you keep watering it and, sure enough, it grows and it grows and it grows. Eventually, it grows into something that you're proud of. It grows into something that's secure, something that's sustainable, something that can consistently produce rewards for you and your life and provide a certain lifestyle for you and your family. That's how success works. That's how building a business works. If you're thinking, “Hey, you know what? How can I just plant the seed and I water it for a little while?” You see nothing from it.

Or, “How can I shortcut that process?” It's not going to last. I see people, they make some money but for how long? They make some money for a month. Great. You can't quit your job off that. You can't live off that. That's not secure income. They make money for two months, or three months, or a little bit of money … That's not secure. That's not sustainable. Or, their entire business is dependent on one strategy. That's not a sustainable business you can quit your job off of.

If your entire business is dependent on one company, on Facebook, or Amazon, or Instagram, and you're totally dependent just on them, and you haven't diversified to build pillars in your business, that is not a sustainable business.

That is a risky business that's dependent on someone else. It's a one-legged stool, not a Parthenon, which is what I teach. That one legged stool can collapse. Then, poof, you're starting from zero. My answer to this question is I don't want you to ask that. I don't want you to ask yourself, “How can I get rich quick?

How can I make money short?” That's not how you want to be thinking, my friends. You want to be thinking, “How can I build something of value? How can I build an asset, a brand that has a long-term sustainable income?” Even though it's going to take longer, that's okay. You've got time. You've got time. If you need money, if you're desperate, if you're broke, then get a fucking job. Get a fucking job where you put in 40 hours. You get paid immediately from that and just be an employee and then build your business on the side. Maybe get a part-time job. Maybe you get two or three jobs.

I don't care what it takes. If you need money, you're desperate, then that's what a job is there for. There are many jobs that exist. You got to be resourceful in that way. If you can't be resourceful enough in that way, then business is definitely not for you. You don't want to approach building something, building a business from a state of desperation. You want to be in a place where you're making enough money that you can pay your bills and expenses, and then you also have some positive cash flow from that that you can then use to invest in your business and help nurture and grow it and making sure it's a quality product or business that adds value to people.

I'm not saying that you got to be a perfectionist in any way. I'm saying, “Hey, you know what? Let's try to make sure that what we're building is something we're proud of.” Let's make sure that we can publish something. You create something. It's something of quality. Again, maybe it's not perfect but you can improve it. You can make it better and better and better. You can continue to add value. You get feedback and you make it better and you turn it into a brand and you attract people to you. You build a relationship with people. You build trust. You deliver for them time and time again.

That's how you build a raving fan culture, a brand that people recognize and they respect and they associate a positive emotion and feeling to. That's what's going to give you a competitive advantage long-term. That's what's going to allow you to never have to worry about competition, about saturation, about things going away, about “Am I going to make some money, then I'm going to lose it?” You're building an actual brand and an actual asset. That's the path you want to take. That's the question you want to be asking yourself is how can I build that. You got to say, “I don't care how long it takes. I'm committed to mastery.

I'm committed to do what it takes. I want it.” That's what it comes down to is how bad do you want it? If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way. If you can't find the way, you make the way. If there's a wall, the dabbler, they hit the wall. They give up. The master, when they see the wall, they hit the wall. They find a way over the wall, around the wall, under the wall. They break through the fucking wall. They're going to get over that wall because they're committed to the goals and the results that they're after.

Listen. It took me years before I started making money online. I was the dabbler for years. I've been there. Not pointing the finger. Man, I've been there before. Trust me. I've been there making some short-term money. I've been there. Hey, that loophole seems really attractive. Maybe I'm going to do that for a little while. Sure enough, I get involved in it. It leads me down a dark path. Sure enough, it doesn't last. It doesn't work.  It wasn't until I recognize this and I decided, “You know what? I've got to build something of value here. I've got to build a brand, a business that can really impact people's lives.”

That's how I started Project Life Mastery. Man, I started putting new content. I got nothing back. I'm putting up videos. Nobody cared. Nobody cared to watch my videos. No traction whatsoever. I had a shitty camera that I put up. It wasn't even as nice as an iPhone. It was one of those picture cameras that just happen to have a video feature. I just start recording. I had confidence. I had faith. I believed. I said, “You know what? I'm going to build something big.” I kept taking action towards it. It did not happen overnight. It did not happen after a month, two months or three months.

It was months after that before people really started to enjoy my content, and I started getting some subscribers. Then people that really benefited from it then asked me for some more help, and then commented and engaged with me. That was the beginnings of the business that I have today. It's not until I recognized that, everything changed for me. Everything. That's what I want for you. John, you got to get out of the dabbler mentality. You got to get out of the short-term thinking. You got to commit yourself to mastery. You got to commit yourself to going through the process, of working hard, creating that vision that excites you.

Take the road less traveled. I promise you it's going to lead to a much nicer view. It's going to lead to a much better result. It's going to lead to result that you're proud of, a result that's secure, that's sustainable. Eventually, you're going to have to take that path anyways. Might as well just take it from the start, from the beginning rather than learning the hard way like I did. Listen. I hope this video resonates with you. I wish I had this advice when I got started. I learned the hard way for sure. That's why I'm passionate about this. Hopefully, I can influence some of you.

I know some of you will still be in the mentality regardless and be attracted to the shiny objects that appear. Then others I know that this message will resonate with. They're open. They're ready for it and will make an impact for them. Listen. The other answer that I can give you is I've got a free course. The free course that I got is a seven-hour free training. In it, I share seven ways that I make money online, seven different business models because, listen, you're asking, “What is the best one to pursue?” It's an impossible question to answer. It depends on your vision, what you want to create.

Don't base your criteria on what's easier. Don't base your criteria on what is the fastest way I can make money. Don't base your criteria off of that. Base your criteria on choosing which path you're going to go, which is the vision that you have for your life. What is something you're going to be passionate about, excited for, a way you can add value to people's lives? Take that path. If that's a physical product business on Amazon, great. If that is a publishing business, great. If that is a blog and social media business, then awesome.

If that is a mobile app, if it's a software, I don't know whatever it is but pick a niche, a topic that you're passionate about and build a business around that. The course that I got will help you with that. It'll help you give some clarity on the different directions you can go by me transparently sharing the ways that I've done it. There's no right or wrong. They're all just many ways of taking that path to get to the destination you want to go. There are many models. They're all effective. You got to pick the best one for you.

The free course I got, if you go to projectlifemastery.com/freecourse, projectlifemastery.com/freecourse, you just got to put in your email address to get access to it. I go into each business model pretty in depth. There's like seven hours, a little bit too much content I probably gave in that, but I really wanted to over deliver and share my experiences with each one and what I think of each one. That can help you choose which direction you want to go because I provide resources that can help you get started in that direction.

I would start there. Pick one. Whatever you pick, commit to it long-term. Take massive action with it. Then, soon enough, it'll be where you want to go. All right. Thanks for watching the video. Talk to you soon.

The book How To Get Rich by Donald Trump is a book that I enjoyed so much that I finished it within 2 and a half days.  I couldn't put it down!  The crazy thing is, I found this book a few years ago at a used bookstore and had it lying around on my bookshelf.  For whatever reason, I decided to pick it up and go through it finally.

I'm a big fan of Donald Trump.  I watch the Celebrity Apprentice and love the show.  I also enjoy Donald's personality and pearls of wisdom, as I've often watched videos of him on YouTube and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.  He's direct-style of communication really bodes well with me and his book How To Get Rich was very easy to go through and absorb.

Donald Trump wrote the book How To Get Rich simply because the number one question people ask him whenever they meet him is, “How do I get rich?”  And, who better to answer that question than a multi-billionaire.  As stated in the book, there are 5 billion reasons why you need to read this book.  Anytime a billionaire has advice to share, you better listen up.

Each chapter is only a few pages long and focused on a specific lesson or success principle.  Trump focuses on important lessons such as how to be focused, the power of momentum, managing a team, decision-making, how to get a raise, public speaking, negotiation, and the list continues.  Donald shares many stories of his life and how many of the lessons applied throughout achieving his own personal success.  He shares stories of certain deals that he made and about his employees or specific situations throughout his life.  This made it much easier to understand the concepts.

I learned a lot of interesting things about Donald Trump that really inspired me.  For one, the man works 7 days a week and absolutely loves what he does.  He enjoys the art and the process of everything he does, he gets a kick out of it.  He doesn't make deals because he needs the money, but because it's a thrill for him.  He really stresses the importance of how you really need to love what you do and have a passion for it if you want to be successful.

Donald Trump MelaniaIn one of the chapters of How To Get Rich, you get a glimpse in a week in the life of Donald Trump.  He shares everything from what he does the moment he's in the office, the phone calls he's making, the meetings he has, what he has for lunch, and his social activities in the evening.  This really revealed his work ethic and how he uses momentum throughout the day to be productive.

Another fascinating thing about Donald Trump I learned is how much he values learning and education.  I was amazed that he spends about 3 hours a day reading.  He usually wakes up at 5AM and begins reading newspapers and current events, along with self-help books and psychology.  He talks about how Carl Jung is a psychologist that everyone needs to read and how it will help your success.  Another book he recommends his The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale.  In the evenings, he usually reads biographies of successful or inspirational figures.

The man is go-go-go non-stop.  It's amazing how he has that level of energy and motivation.  It doesn't seem like he takes much time to relax, but I suppose that's the power of having a mission and passion – it excites you to keep going.

Donald Trump How To Get Rich ReviewA big lesson that Donald Trump shares in the book, that he learned from his father, is how important it is to really understand what you do.  Whatever career path or business you choose, you need to know everything about it.  You need to know the ins and outs.  You need to do your homework.  And you need to know it better than anyone else.  Donald shares how well he understands the real estate development business.  He knows almost every process of what goes on in his hotels, along with the construction process that is done to develop them.  He shares a story of how he calls up a company that has these cool trees and spends time just asking questions and learning about them, because he wants to use them for one of his developments.  I found that really fascinating.

While there were a lot of pearls of wisdom in this book, a lot of it as well had stuff that was mainly self-promotion for Trump.  There is no surprise there.  Part of the book shares the process of his hit TV show The Apprentice, and he promotes it quite a bit there.  Along with often talking about his many hotels and developments that he has, again, promoting the brand of Trump.  Beyond that, he goes into a lot of personal stuff, such as his relationships with certain people, along with even discussing his hair style.

Overall, How To Get Rich by Donald Trump was a good read and I recommend it to anyone on their path towards success.  I'll be reading his follow-up book, Think Like A Billionaire sometime soon in the future, as I have that lying around on my bookshelf too. 🙂
