I would like to share with you how to grow spiritually by expanding your consciousness. By definition, consciousness is the state or quality of awareness. It is what allows us to experience and react to the world.

For decades, philosophers and scientists have been trying to solve the mind-body problem of consciousness. Conscious awareness is one of the most puzzling facets of the human brain. In the words of David Chalmer, “Our consciousness is a fundamental aspect of our existence, but at the same time it’s the most mysterious phenomenon in the universe.”

As human beings, we have the power to expand our consciousness. This means opening ourselves to new possibilities, reconnecting with our inner selves, and freeing ourselves from limiting beliefs that have been holding us back from happiness and fulfillment.

Each of us moves through our own personal path to increased spiritual growth. Are you ready to grow spiritually by expanding your consciousness? This is the first step towards a brighter and more abundant life.

Rasheed Ogunlaru once said, “It’s not the world that needs to change – it’s our consciousness we must raise.” In order to understand how to grow spiritually by expanding your consciousness, you need to have an awareness of what the 4 levels of consciousness are:

1. Egocentric

The identity at the egocentric level is purely focused on the Self. When we are born, we are dependent on another human being for survival. Because of this, this identity does not notice other peoples’ needs. At this level, growth requires acknowledging oneself in relation to others. If one doesn’t make the next step, the result is a feeling of emptiness and lack of fulfillment.

2. Ethnocentric

At this level, the identity expands to a feeling of empathy and connection with others close to them. Although this identity is more selfless in its nature, care for others doesn’t expand beyond family and friends.

3. World-centric

At this level of consciousness, the identity cares about humanity at large, holding the belief that we are all the same. These types of people give back, because they are passionate about serving. These are the Mother Teresa’s and Nelson Mandela’s of the world. They know that if they want to evolve and grow, they have to grow and give to others.

4. Spirit-centric

This level of consciousness moves beyond about mere humanity and experiences a sense of responsibility and empathy for all living things.

Do you want to know how you can expand your consciousness? Care more. That is why I love business. It is a spiritual practice. To truly succeed in business, you need to raise your consciousness. You need to put others’ needs above your own.

When you care about something greater than yourself, you expand who you are, because it’s not about YOU anymore, Rather, it’s about serving the greater good.

For example, I have to take care of my mind and body, because I need to take into account my higher purpose, which is life mastery. I want to be a role model for others, so I need to be in alignment with my world-centric level of consciousness.

My greatest quality that has allowed me to achieve so much success in my life is my desire to care for and give to others. I wake up every day and ask myself, “How can I serve others and make a positive impact in the world?” In the words of Gary Zukav, “Spiritual growth requires the development of inner knowing. It requires the heart, not the intellect.” Drop our of your head and into your heart. Reconnect with your inner self and be open to life’s possibilities.

I challenge you to observe where your consciousness feels blocked or limited. The beauty of life is that, as human beings, we have the power to let go of disempowering beliefs at any moment, and replace them with more empowering ones. When you grow spiritually by expanding your consciousness, you raise your vibration, thereby awakening to a new, more fulfilled sense of reality.

I want to share with you 5 steps to setting life-changing intentions. Are you feeling stuck or not sure how to achieve what you desire in life? If so, you need to start harnessing the power of intentions. Everything that happens in life begins with an intention. It is the starting point of every goal or dream.

An intention is a mental state that reflects a commitment to achieving an action in the future. In essence, it is the creative fuel that satisfies every one of our desires; whether that is for a loving relationship, more money, spiritual guidance, or best of all self-love. When you set an intention, you are utilizing the power of the Law of Attraction so that the Universe can work its magic.

Everything you need and desire is inside of you. Get out of your own way and learn how to tap into the finite potential that resides in you. In the words of Wayne Dyer, “By banishing doubt and trusting your intuitive feelings, you clear a space for the power of intention to flow through.” Are you ready to create the reality that you desire?

By setting intentions, you pave the way for success and happiness in your life. Here are 5 steps to setting life-changing intentions:

1. Create a Morning Ritual

Morning rituals are an amazing way to connect to your inner self and set your intentions for the day. Someone once said, “Some days I feel like I can conquer the world. Other days it takes me 3 hours to convince myself to have a shower.” Can you relate? If so, you aren't alone. Bad habits are hard to break, but if you want to be successful in life, you need to be consistent, because we are defined by what we do every day.

If you don't wake up every day feeling energized, passionate, and excited about your life, it's time to create a ritual. I am living proof that a morning ritual is one of the most powerful ways to manifest your intentions and transform your life. Research shows your mood in the morning affects your productivity all day (Cooper, 2016). When I take time every morning to honour myself and my needs, it sets the tone for how I feel for the rest of the day.

2. Surrender to Resistance

Many people associate surrendering with giving up, but it's actually the opposite. Control is rooted in fear. Nothing positive grows in that space. If you want to manifest your intentions, you need to surrender to what is and let go of control. Always remember that whatever you resist, persists.

Don't try to fight the Universe, because it always wins. Detach yourself from the outcome and find your flow in life. When you do, you will attract what you desire most. In the words of Mooji, “Surrender is not a weakness; it is a strength. It takes tremendous strength to surrender life to the supreme – to the cosmic unfolding.”

3. Think Less, Feel More

When you are too attached to your thoughts and ‘in your head', you aren't able to make authentic decisions from your heart. When you feel as if you have already manifested your intentions, that is when the real magic happens. Why? Because the Universe responds to your thoughts in conjunction with your feelings.

You will not experience true alignment until you listen to your heart. That is where the truth lies. Following your heart is the secret to a fulfilled life. In the words of Denise Linn, “Shift the focus from what you want to do, to how you want to feel.”

4. Get Clear and Be Specific

If you aren't clear and specific about what your intentions are, how do you expect to bring it into your reality? This is where a lot of people get stuck. Are you attracting what you want into your life? If not, you need to be more aware of your thoughts and tailor words in a more positive way. For example, the words, “I will” are more definite than “I hope to” (Schwartz, 2017). The first attracts what you will do, but the second keeps you hopeful.

Know what it is that you want and make a plan to achieve it. If you’re not attracting what you want into your life, you need to monitor your thoughts more and use more positive, affirming language. Clear intentions lead to clear results. The Universe responds the best to certainty.

5. Visualize

One of the best ways to manifest your intention is to visualize yourself actually already having what it is that you want. Psychologists and therapists highlight the importance of VAK — visuals, audio, and kinesthetic modalities — in shaping our mind (Nguyen, 2015). Visualization is a powerful intention-setting tool that helps us align with our purpose and create the life of our dreams. The power of the mind is beyond recognition. When you start to visualize what you want in your life, you begin to see the possibility of achieving it. It creates momentum and inspiration to take massive action. There is no better recipe for success.

I challenge you to follow these 5 steps to setting life-changing intentions. Anything of value in this world requires intention. Setting goals isn't enough. When you set intentions, it allows you to focus on and be in alignment with your values. Furthermore, it raises your emotional energy, which in turn raises your physical energy (Tabaka, 2016). If you want to master your life, commit to setting life-changing intentions. Your dreams will thank you for it.

Judging and criticizing others is the easiest way to destroy your own happiness. Can you imagine a world where everyone was accepting and loving towards one another? Despite our best efforts, we have all been guilty of judging and criticizing others at some point in our lives.

In the past, I indulged in these behaviours, which in turn, negatively impacted my happiness in life. Judgment and criticism is merely a projection of your own insecurity and lack of fulfillment in life. It wasn’t until I was 100% happy with whom I was that I no longer felt the need to judge others.

In the words of Carl Jung, “Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” How much time do you spend judging and criticizing others?

If you want to be treated with unconditional love, you need to give that love to others. Nobody is perfect, and that includes YOU. Would you want someone to do or say something that hurt you? I doubt it.

If you love and honour yourself, you won’t dishonour or show hatred towards others. Happy people never judge or criticize people. Rather, they focus their energy on lifting people up and serving the greater good. They want to create more happiness, because that is what brings them a sense of joy.

If you struggle with judging and criticizing others, I challenge you to look deep inside of yourself in order to determine why you are choosing to act in this way.

When you shift your thoughts from ones of judgment to acceptance, towards yourself and others, you will restore your sense of happiness and fulfillment in life.

Below are 3 strategies that will help you release your judgmental thoughts, so that you can live more in alignment, with yourself and others:

1. Be Mindful Of Your Thoughts

Learning how to become mindful is a critical step in the process of becoming free of judgment. The root cause of judgment and criticism is the ego. The ego compares the self with others, and puts others down in order to feel better about the self. This becomes a vicious cycle, with the end result being a lack of acceptance, love, and joy.

When you find yourself being judgmental, step back and monitor your thoughts. What can you learn about yourself, based on how you are acting towards others? In the words of Earl Nightingale, “When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.”

2. Practice Self-Love

The more that you judge yourself, the more that you will judge others. Showing love and compassion for yourself is the best recipe for a happy and fulfilled life. Discipline yourself to practice self-love, by thinking and acting with positivity and non-judgment.

In the words of Brene Brown, “Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love.” When you love yourself, you transmit that same loving energy to others as well.

3. Send Love To Others

Whenever someone is projecting criticism or judgment onto you, send him/her love. This is a ritual that I practice in my daily life. I think that compassion is the ultimate antidote for peace, harmony, happiness, and wellbeing. Nonjudgmental people possess an abundance mindset, which flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security.

These people exude happiness. They are compassionate for others’ misfortunes and show praise for their successes. When you show compassion and send love to others, you are committing to supporting the highest good of all mankind. Let go of your ego and stop judging and criticizing others.

Make it a priority for all of your intentions in life to be comprised of love and kindness. As the Golden Rule states, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I hope I have inspired you to make a shift towards living a more happy and fulfilled life. Are your actions contributing to more peace, love, and joy? If not, it’s time to make a change.

In the words of Sri Chinmoy, “Judge nothing, you will be happy. Forgive everything, you will be happier. Love everything, you will be happiest.”
