As I reflect upon where I am today, it's amazing to see how much I have changed. I'm so grateful for the lessons that I learned along the way because they made me who I am.

However, if I was given the opportunity to do my 20's all over again, there are things that I would have done differently.

I share my insights, in the hopes that it will prevent you from making the same mistakes that I did.

Are you ready to learn what I wish my 20-year-old self knew?

Let's be honest… your early 20's can be a tumultuous time.

It requires that you start evaluating where you currently are and make plans for where you want to be. Unfortunately, not every 20-year-old has it all figured out, nor should they.

Nevertheless, you are expected to start doing things like, go to school, find a real job, move out of your parent's house, and find your life purpose, all the while trying to figure out who you are. Stressful, right? It doesn't have to be.

I want to share with you 3 things that I wish I knew in my early 20's.

1. You Don't Have To Know All The Answers

If you are in your 20's and don't yet know what your career path should be, that's OK! It's easy to compare yourself to others and think, “I need to be doing what they are doing.” It can be frustrating when it seems like everyone around you is making progress, while you are still stuck in one place with no sense of direction.

However, comparing yourself to others is a losing battle. Research shows that the happiest people aren’t those who only make positive comparisons with others. They are those who don’t make any. Instead of feeling like you aren't measuring up to others, reframe how you feel. Use your comparisons as motivators that help you grow and improve yourself.

Nobody has everything figured out in their 20's. When you are that young, you don't have enough life experience and wisdom to have clarity around who you are and what you want to do with your life. When you are young, you can afford to experiment and make mistakes because you have your entire life ahead of you. This is how you will identify what your strengths, weaknesses, interests, and passions are.

2. Life Is A Journey, Not A Destination

It sounds cliché, but it's true. When I was in my early 20's, I had the illusion that, once I had a girlfriend, built a successful business, and became a millionaire, all of the sudden my life would be perfect. All that you get from accomplishing external events in life is a temporary moment of pleasure, satisfaction, and gratification.

However, trust me when I say that this high does not last. A new study reveals that thinking about whether you're happy or setting a lofty goal for your own happiness is a major buzzkill. Instead of planning your happiness, you need to embrace spontaneity.

Learn how to enjoy the journey and the process of becoming more. You don't have to ride the pain train as I did. I used to constantly beat myself up because I was never where I wanted to be. As a result, I wasn't able to be present. This is a horrible strategy for changing your life.

Soon enough, your brain thinks, “Why even bother?” This mindset is not sustainable. You need to understand that this moment is all that you have. If you can't enjoy today, you won't be able to experience fulfillment once you have all the things you want. Focus on what you already have because there are so many things to be grateful for.

3. You Have Your Whole Life Ahead Of You

Your youth is one of your biggest advantages in life. In your early 20's you have the opportunity to break bad habits and replace them with healthy ones. You are more moldable because you have yet to develop negative patterns of behaviors that have already been conditioned for many years.

As you age, you become more comfortable with a certain way of being. As a result, it becomes more challenging to shift your way of thinking and behaving. The beliefs and habits that you develop at a young age will support you later on in your life in incredible ways. The younger that you start, the sooner that you will receive the benefits.

This is why I encourage you to build the foundation for your life early on – commit to lifelong learning, take risks, and try everything. You've got your whole life ahead of you. Don't sweat it if you don't have it all figured out right away. All that matters is that you take action.

These are 3 things I wish I knew in my 20's.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that if you don't figure these things out that you are lost or not going in the right direction. Instead, if you are able to integrate and apply this wisdom into your own life, I believe that you will be in a better position to thrive.

I'm grateful for all of the lessons I've learned and so should you. The beauty of it all is that I’m still learning. We all are. In fact, I still add to my list, knowing that every day is an opportunity to become a better version of myself.

What is something that you wish you knew in your early 20's?

What is the best online business for you to start? I get asked this question all the time.

There are so many different online business models to choose from that it can get overwhelming to know which one is best. We are so blessed to be able to have all of the amazing opportunities that the Internet provides us with.

Technology has changed the business landscape, so much so that the traditional career paths that society has laid out for us have been challenged. Taking the road less traveled has started to become the norm for many people.

After reading Tim Ferriss' book, The 4-Hour Workweek, I discovered that I could build an online business and I was hooked. I knew that I had to do whatever it took in order to make my dream a reality. Did I encounter challenges and barriers along the way? Did I make mistakes and fail? Did I encounter limiting beliefs, fears and doubts? Yes, but it was all worth it.

Today, I've built a thriving online business and I am able to live my dream of financial freedom and abundance. Are you ready to figure out what is the best online business for you?

What is the best online business for you?

This is a challenging question to answer. As human beings, we don't really know what is going to be best for us until we try new things. Everyone has different interests and skill sets. The best online business for you may depend on how much experience you already have in the online business world, the amount of money that you have to invest, or the amount of time that you have to build your business.

One of the most important factors at play in determining what is the best online business for you is to determine what your passion is. What makes you come alive inside? That is what you need to focus on. I speak from personal experience when I say that money alone will not sustain you, because it is only a short-term motivator.

This idea is supported by a study that interviewed 600 managers and found that 95% of them misunderstood what it was that motivated their employees. After analyzing over 12,000 employee diary entries, the number one work motivator was found to be emotion, not financial incentive. It was the feeling of making progress every day toward a meaningful goal that mattered most.

You may have to try out a few different business models in order to figure out what is the best one for you. Once you figure it out, you need to go all-in and commit to investing the time, energy, and hard work it takes to build a sustainable online business.

If you have a ‘get rich quick' mentality, you won't get far, because building a business requires that you fall in love with the process of doing it. Oftentimes, people get so caught up in the end result that they forget to enjoy themselves along the way.

It's important to understand that the end result of a successful business is the byproduct of your daily actions. Instead of aiming for your end goal, aim for the journey that it will take to get you there.

The best online business for you is the one that you BELIEVE you will excel at most.

If you aren't excited about something and don't buy into it, you won't do whatever it takes in order to be successful. Nothing will work unless YOU work. The fact of the matter is that every online business has its pros and cons, so you need to find the one that is the most aligned with your values.

I've got a free quiz that I created that will help you get clarity in terms of figuring out what is the best online business for you to start. Similarly, you can check out the free course that I offer, where I share the 7 online business models that have made me an Internet millionaire. Within that course, I share a ton of great resources that will help you to kickstart your online business.

At the end of the day, all of the online business models work. However, what will determine your success won't be your strategy, but rather the mindset that you adopt. Commit to mastery. Put in the hard work, take consistent action, and do whatever it takes to succeed.

In the words of Richard Branson, “There's no such thing as an accidental entrepreneur – it's deliberate, it's conscious, and it's hard work.” Are you ready to go all-in?

Here's how to focus on and enjoy the process of success.

Do you ever get so attached to something that it gets to the point where your desire to succeed becomes so overwhelming that it causes you to give up altogether? If so, you aren’t alone.

Many of us become so attached to the results that we desire, that we don’t learn how to focus on and enjoy the process of success.

Don’t get me wrong. Setting goals is great. However, setting goals and working towards the accomplishment of them are very different things. Do you measure your success by the outcome or by the process?

If it’s the former, you need to rethink your strategy.

In today’s digital world, our brains are in overdrive because we are constantly inundated with new information. It’s difficult to focus on and enjoy the process of success when we are experiencing information overload and trying to accomplish multiple tasks at once.

Are you reading this blog while responding to an email and making breakfast? If so, it’s time to slow down. Why? Research shows that multitasking is actually detrimental to cognitive performance, which has been referred to as “info-mania.” When it comes to doing a task properly, concentrate on one thing at a time. It's good for your brain, and it's better than multitasking.

The second challenge that people face is what to do with all of the information that they are given. In order to make any decision in life, you need to take action. When you are too focused on the end goal, it’s easier to become distracted by all of the steps that you need to take in order to get there.

Distractions prevent us from being productive and give us an excuse to dabble. As a result, no goal is ever achieved. Do you jump ship when things get tough? If so, your lack of patience, distractions, and “Shiny Object Syndrome” is killing your results.

You Need To Learn How To Focus And Enjoy The Process Of Success.

A great strategy for doing this is to learn things on a deeper level, and do it, multiple times. As I always say, repetition is the mother of mastery. For example, I will read the same book multiple times, or I will attend the same seminars again and again, in order to absorb the knowledge on a deeper level. Why? Because I want to master what I learn from an experience before I focus on something new.

Success is due, in part, to your ability to master boring and repetitive things in life. This is how we create habits that we desire. I do the same boring things, every day. But over time, they produce massive results. Another great strategy for enjoying the process is to do what you love. For myself, this has been through the process of creating inspiring content online, based on topics that I am passionate about.

The act of adding value and being of service to others means more to me than any amount of money that comes from it. As a result of simply helping people, I have been able to create a large following of subscribers who benefit from my work. I know that if I continue to add massive value, the money will come from that process alone.

Learn how to focus on and enjoy the process of success. This is where the magic lies. In the words of Eric Thomas, “Fall in love with the process, and the results will come.”

I’m here to tell you that if you master the process, the results will follow. Setting goals is critical for achieving success in life, however the process for getting there is equally as important.

You may be thinking, “But doesn’t this line of thinking defeat the purpose of setting a goal?” It may seem counterintuitive, but you will actually achieve your goals faster if you focus on the process, NOT the goal.

When you stay open to life’s possibilities, revise your goals along the way, and let events unfold naturally, it may surprise you what you discover.

In the words of Benjamin Zander “In the measurement world, we set a goal and strive to achieve it. In the universe of possibility, we set the context and let life unfold.”

If you master the process the results will follow. Are you ready to learn how?

Oftentimes people become so attached to the outcome that they fail to enjoy the journey. When they don’t achieve their goals, they end up getting frustrated and, angry and feel defeated.

When you first set a goal, you aren’t always sure what it is going to take in order to accomplish it. Oftentimes, people compare themselves to others and base their perceptions of what they think they can achieve, based on others’ results.

If you want to be successful in life, you need to stop comparing yourself to others. Rather, strive to set goals that embrace and your strengths.

When you actually enjoy the process and engage in something that you are passionate about, the results follow naturally. A great strategy for enjoying the process is to add value to people’s lives.

This is what I have dedicated my work to. My intention behind everything that I do in life is to create content that enriches and serves others. Zig Ziglar said it best –  “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”

No matter how focused you are on achieving specific goals that you set for yourself, the course of your life can change in a heartbeat, forcing you to redirect your focus.

In his book, The Slight Edge: Secret To A Successful Life, Jeff Olson states, “Here is the amazing thing – and I’ve seen this happen so many times, yet it never ceases to fill me with awe – when you set your goals, life has a way of rearranging itself, a series of events starts in motion that you could never have predicted or planned, to get you there.”

When you truly enjoy your life, allow your experiences to support your goals, and don’t become attached to the end result life unfolds beautifully before your eyes.

I would like to share with you 4 ways to build a motivation mindset. Motivation is the driving force that inspires people to take action in life. Think about a time when you felt really motivated to achieve a goal. How did it feel? How did that feeling fuel your desire to achieve it?

When it comes to making big changes in life, your desire must overrule your fear. It all comes down to your mindset. Simply expressing that you want to achieve a goal isn’t enough. Internal motivation is only one piece of the puzzle. You need to actually put in the effort, which requires mental strength.

Achieving anything of value requires hard work, perseverance, commitment, and energy. You can expect to experience setbacks and failures along your path to success. That is a normal part of life and an integral aspect of the learning process.

In the words of Joe DiMaggio,Motivation is something that nobody else can give you…it must come from inside you, and you must possess a constant desire to do your very best at all times and under any circumstance.”

Let’s explore 4 ways to build a motivation mindset:

1. Know Your Strengths

When you have an awareness of your strengths, it helps you make smarter choices in life because it equips you with the right resources and tools that will contribute to your success. When it comes to your goals, having knowledge of your strengths gives you the confidence and motivation to take action so that you can take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.

2. Find the “Why” Behind Your Goals

Before you set out to achieve your goals, you need an empowering “why”. Dig deep and ask yourself, “Why do I want to achieve this goal?” More importantly, what will be the consequence or pain that you will experience if you do not achieve this goal?”

In the process of constructing your dream life, the important thing to be aware of is not the goals you set, but rather what motivates you towards those goals. Are you chasing what it is that you really want in life? In the words of Henry David Thoreau, “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”

3. Enjoy the Process

Are you truly enjoying your life or do you find that you are constantly stressed out about everything? So many people are focused on the destination alone that they forget to enjoy the process of getting to where they want to go.

Goals aren’t all about the end result. If you want to be consistent over the long-term, you need to find ways to enjoy the process. In his book, The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines into Massive Success and Happiness, Jeff Olson says, “Here is the amazing thing—and I’ve seen this happen so many times, yet it never ceases to fill me with awe: when you set your goals, life has a way of rearranging itself, a series of events starts in motion that you could never have predicted or planned, to get you there.”

If you want to master your life, don’t attach yourself to outcomes. Slow down in order to achieve more. Ernest Hemingway said it best – “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”

4. Stay Hungry

Goals give us a sense of direction, but when life takes a turn, it may mean that your goals have to change with it. Willpower and the motivation to succeed are at their peak during the beginning stages of your journey towards the achievement of any pursuit.

The trick is to stay hungry and keep your momentum flowing. A great way to stay connected to your vision is to adopt a ritual that reminds you of why you set out to achieve a goal in the first place.

Take 5 minutes every day and journal about your goals. When you write your goals down, it’s like planting a seed. If you water that seed every day, you will be amazed at how quickly your dream life can manifest into your reality.

Building a motivation mindset is essential for achieving success in life. Become mindful of doing the very things that will support you in the achievement of your goals. Never forget that your mind is one of the most powerful tools at your disposal for supporting your highest aspirations in life.

Take it from Denise J. Hart, who said, “To get what you want in life you must develop the ability to think in the way that will support your goals and dreams.” When you master your mind, you master your life.
