It's easy to model the #1 success secret of wealthy people.

Commit to starting or joining a Mastermind Group. The most successful people in this world mastermind their way towards success. All in all, I have found masterminding to be one of the most powerful tools for achieving my goals. I have been able to become a multi-millionaire at a relatively young age. This is has been, in large part, due to my ability to attract high level, successful people into my life.

How did I do this? By ensuring that I am never the smartest person in a room. The reality is that who you surround yourself with is who you become. Your environment plays a huge role in the direction that your life will take. If you are struggling to make progress, ask yourself, “With whom do I spend the majority of my time with?”

For example, if you want to be a millionaire but you hang out with lazy people, you are not going to achieve your goals. End of story. In the words of the motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, “You are the average of the five people that you spend the most time with. Choose carefully.”

This is why I believe that everyone needs an empowering ecosystem. This is a group of successful individuals who are crushing their goals and living life at a high vibrational state. A study published in Psychological Science reports that when people are running low on self-control, they often seek out self-disciplined people to boost their willpower.

This is where the power of a Mastermind Group comes into play.

The concept of a Mastermind was first coined by Napoleon Hill. In his book, Think and Grow Rich Hill said that “a Mastermind Principle consists of an alliance of two or more minds working in perfect harmony for the attainment of a common definite objective. Success does not come without the cooperation of others.” 

When it comes to achieving your goals, accountability is a critical component of success. This is where a lot of people get stuck. It can be hard to hold yourself accountable. This is especially true when you have a lot going on in your business.

This is why social accountability is such a powerful tool. It outsources your willpower to follow through. More importantly, it uses the innate human desire for consistency to keep you moving forward towards your goals. In a Mastermind Group, members create an environment of accountability.

This can make all the difference, especially when you feel like giving up altogether. Those of you who are entrepreneurs know the realities that come with being an entrepreneur. In reality, it is a rollercoaster ride of intense highs and lows.

I have been in the entrepreneurial game for nine years now. In the beginning stages of my journey, I felt defeated. I dabbled in many different areas of business. Even though I was consuming a lot of content, I still wasn't getting any results.

Keep in mind that, as an entrepreneur, you are required to wear multiple hats. Literally, every decision that you make depends on you. In my experience, this can cause a lot of frustration and stress. Not surprisingly, this is why a lot of businesses fail. The world of entrepreneurship can be challenging terrain to navigate. This is why it's so important to surround yourself with people who motivate you.

Having a strong network of like-minded people is invaluable.

Imagine being a part of a Mastermind Group of 6 to 8 people who meet on a regular basis. The intention behind this group is to brainstorm, network, and hold each other accountable. How do you do market research on popular items for ecommerce?

For marketing research on Amazon I use Jungle Scout by my friend, Greg Mercer. You can do manual research, just by looking on Amazon and reviewing the best seller rankings and getting an idea of what the demand of products are, but the beauty of Jungle Scout is that it makes this whole process so much easier.

When you are deciding on a product, choose one that has the potential to develop future products with, that you can develop a brand out of, etc. When I’m deciding on a product I think to myself, “What strategies can I utilize that can really help me market this product?” I also see if there is an opportunity for me to do affiliate marketing with a product, create online courses, or find bonuses that are relevant to the product.

Can you still make money with Kindle publishing?

Of course! It is still one of the best ways for someone to make money online. Why? While it can take many months to launch a physical product on Amazon, the beauty of Kindle publishing is that it’s a much faster process. For example, if you’ve got an MS word document on your computer right now that is 5000 words, you can take that content, create a cover, launch your book, and tomorrow it will be on Amazon for sale, and you can start making money from it. It’s a newbie friendly, relatively quick way to launch something on Amazon. Sure, Kindle publishing is a competitive market, but you don’t have to worry about competition if you are utilizing good marketing strategies and are building a brand.

Do you invest your profits into hard assets, like real estate?

The money I make I use to invest in stocks, companies, and real estate. I like stocks that pay dividends so that I can get a passive income from that. I get taxed a lot less on dividends than I do on other sources of income. I also like real estate investment trusts, where I can still own real estate, without having to actively manage it. Some great advice from Warren Buffett is to make sure that whatever you invest in, the company is still around in 20 years.

How do you manage your time so that you are able to cover so many things?

The key is to learn how to master the concept of leverage because there is only so much time in one day. The greatest gift that money provides is that it gives you the ability to get more time in your life. At the end of the day, this is the most valuable asset that you have. I use money to have someone prepare all my meals for me during the week, to clean my apartment, to have a personal assistant, a fitness trainer, employees and teams that do a lot of things for me so that I don’t have to spend time on things that don’t matter.

At the end of the day, you can’t do it all. During the beginning stages, you may have to learn new skills, but you need to ask yourself, “Do you want to be good at 10 things or do you want to master 2-3 things?” Focus on doing a few tasks really well, rather than overwhelming yourself with a massive to-do list.

How do you know when to give up on a business idea and try another one?

Whenever I pursue a new idea, goal, or plan, I always give it a fair amount of time, like 6 months to a year before I expect to see any results. I know that, in order to succeed in business, you need to invest, long-term. It’s going to take about one year for your business to really take off and start doing well. If your business isn’t working in your favor, don’t be a dabbler and jump ship when things get tough. Rather, tweak and make adjustments to your business along the way. Experiment with different strategies, and commit to mastery.

Warren Buffet believes the single best investment that he ever made was a lifelong commitment and curiosity for learning. In his own words, “Invest in as much of yourself as you can, you are your own biggest asset by far.”

When Warren Buffett was young he was terrified of public speaking. He wanted to master this fear, so he attended a Dale Carnegie public speaking class that ended up changing his entire life. Even to this day, he has his public speaking diploma hanging on his wall in his office.

You never know how one book, course, or seminar can change your entire life. Live with that positive anticipation that there is always something good that will come from having an optimistic mindset.

Chris Munger, the Vice Chairman of the Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Corporation, once said this about his colleague:

“Warren Buffett has become one hell of a better investor since the day I met him, and so have I. If we had been frozen at any given stage, with the knowledge we had, the record would have been much worse than it is, so the game is to keep learning.”

If you want to become the best that you can be, you need to adopt the mindset of a lifelong learner. I attribute most of my success in life to my love of learning. It has brought so much joy to my life, and it has allowed me to grow and evolve my online business at a much greater speed. If you look at my May 2017 Monthly Goals Report, you will see how much I invest in myself.

Who I am today is vastly different from the person that I was many years ago. I was a shy, depressed, insecure teenager who was broke and struggling, BUT I was committed to investing in myself.

If I wanted to master all areas of my life, I knew that I had to stop doing what I had always done. I found mentors, read books, attended seminars, went to workshops, and created networking events, all with the purpose of learning. I realized that what one man can do, another man can do.

Finally, Warren Buffett also believes in the power of investing in an index fund, otherwise known as a type of mutual fund with a portfolio constructed to match or track the components of a market index, such as the Standard & Poor's 500 Index (S&P 500).

From a historical standpoint, the stock market has always gone up, no matter what is going on in the world. The beauty of index funds is that they allow you to own 500 of the biggest companies in the U.S. There is no better way to create a simple plan for building your retirement savings.

How much time and money do you invest in yourself? The reality is that the more you learn, the more you earn. When asked to reflect on Warren’s success, Charlie Munger said, “Warren is one of the best learning machines on this earth. The turtles who outrun the hares are learning machines. If you stop learning in this world, the world rushes right by you.”
