It's time to define success on your terms and live in alignment with your soul's mission.

In today's digital world, there is so much knowledge to consume. If you are looking for the answer to success, all you need to do is go online.

Learning is great, but a lot of people end up living their lives in pursuit of other people's definitions of success. It's time to start creating a version of success that is yours and yours alone.

Are you ready to create your success blueprint and build a life that you are proud to live?

What does success really mean to you?

If you have never taken the time to think about, now is the time to do so. In order to create your dream lifestyle, you need to know what is truly important to you.

Success is something that we all strive for in life. I know my definition of success, but that does not necessarily mean that you hold the same one. Life isn't a competition to see whose version is better. The meaning of success is unique to each of us. Do you associate success with money, power, recognition, stability, or happiness? The list goes on and on.

Your childhood experiences influence your perception of success as an adult. A lot of people assume that, in order to be deemed a “successful” person, they have to do something “extra special.” As a result, they live their lives based on widely accepted definitions of success.

Unfortunately, this decision comes with a cost. People end up sacrificing what is important to them and putting their dreams on the backburner. In my eyes, that is like playing Russian roulette with your life.

Is this a gamble that you are willing to take?

If you are having trouble defining success on your terms, the first step is to become aware of the areas of your life where you are living out of alignment. By doing so, you will become empowered to remove the roadblocks that are standing in your way of success. This will give you the freedom to pave the way for more joy and happiness into your life.

In their book, The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, Esther and Jerry Hicks suggest that “The achievement of anything that you desire must be considered success… but, if you will let your standard of success be your achievement of joy, everything else will fall easily into place.”

Think of life's roadblocks as opportunities to come back to your authentic self and to discover sides of yourself that you never knew existed. If you need support along the way, here are 5 ways for how to define success on your terms.

1. Decide What Is Important To You

It sounds like an easy thing to figure out, but that's not always the case. Have you ever stopped to really think about what is important to you? Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in our to-do lists, household chores and priorities that consume our daily schedule. As a result, you may have forgotten about the big things that really matter in life, like happiness and health.

One of the big reasons why a lot of people fail to achieve success in life is because they never decide what it is that they want. Instead, they just follow the crowd and wonder why they lack motivation and drive.

If you ask a young kid what he or she wants to be when they grow up, their answers can sometimes seem unrealistic. They may say something like, “I want to be a superhero.” They don't think twice about their answer because that is the only thing that is important to them. Their belief is so strong that nothing else matters, including others' opinions.

As a result of parental and societal conditioning, a lot of kids end up losing or suppressing the dreams that they had as children. Can you relate? If so, how do you figure out what is important to you?

Blogger and author Scott Berkun suggests that there are “three piles of life” that you need to pay attention to – things that are important, things that are unimportant, and things that are unimportant and distract you from what is important. By getting clear on what those piles look like, you can then shape your life into the experience that you desire.

2. Visualize Your Ideal Life

A lot of people have a burning desire to create the life of their dreams but they don't know how to get it. As a result, they may ruminate on all of the things that are holding them back, instead of focusing on what they can do to achieve success.

This is where visualization becomes a powerful tool to use. Visualization is a mental technique that uses the imagination to attract success into your life. You create your reality. As Albert Einstein once said, Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”

Once you know what is important to you, start to visualize what your ideal life looks like. Think about where you would want to live, what your days would look like, whom you would spend your time with, and what kind of work you would be doing. When you are visualizing, try to be as specific as possible.

The reality is that, if you can't picture yourself being successful, then chances are you never will be. I encourage you to create a habit of visualizing your future self every single day. Doing so has the power to catapult your level of success in life.

Are you ready to start moving towards the life that you've always dreamed of? Start imagining that you already have it. Seeing is believing.

3. Live Your Life On Purpose

The most important question to ask yourself is, “Why am I here?” Everything in life has a purpose and that includes YOU. I believe that each of us has a unique gift that we are meant to share with the world.

Living your purpose can be exciting and scary at the same time. However, once you have the courage to tap into it, it can bring the highest level of meaning and fulfillment to your life that you once only dreamed was possible.

Not only is finding your purpose good for your soul, but it's also good for your health. In a study that followed 6,000 individuals for 14 years, people who reported having a higher sense of purpose were more likely to live longer than their peers across all age groups. This included younger adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults.

Your purpose is your divine GPS; it guides your decisions and shapes the direction that your life will take. Who is directing your focus? If it isn't you that is doing it, then you may be living someone else's dream. Choose to be who you authentically are. Don't ever dim your light because you are scared of failing or letting other people down.

Now is the time to give yourself permission to play big. You only have one life. Why not maximize it by living your life on purpose?  T. Alan Armstrong said it best – “If there is no passion in your life, then have you really lived? Find your passion, whatever it may be. Become it, and let it become you and you will find great things happen FOR you, TO you and BECAUSE of you.”

4. Don't Let Others' Opinions Of You Control Your Reality

I believe that there are two groups of people in this world – those who achieve true success and those who don't. The former are the ones who live out their version of success rather than someone else's.

Your dreams weren't given to you. They are yours and yours only. You may not believe that you can do something because somebody told you that can't. Trust me when I say that anything in life is possible if you believe that it is.

Who is impacting your decisions in life? Are these people uplifting you to greatness or limiting your potential? Do not let others' judgments and opinions of you control your reality. This is your life.

You should value others' opinions. However, don't allow those opinions to dictate your decisions and determine how you should live your life. The fact of the matter is, no matter what you do or say, there will always be haters out there that will try to put you down.

It's your job to silence this noise. Use their negativity as fuel for the fire. Their words are not your truth. Trust in yourself. The only person that you have to prove anything to is the image staring back at you in the mirror.

In the words of Marcus Aurelius, “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” If you no longer worried about what others thought of you, what would success look like to you?

5. View Success As A Journey, Not A Destination

Have you ever wondered why it is that some people are super successful in life while others are not? Successful people don't quit. Ever. They know that success is a journey of learning and unlearning everything about themselves and the world.

If you become too consumed with the end point of success, you will miss out on all of the beautiful moments that happen along the way. This is why it is so important that you celebrate all the small milestones that you achieve on the journey to fulfilling your dreams. It's your daily habits and choices that matter most.

Achieving success doesn't mean that you have to change something about yourself. Don't get attached to that story. The secret to success is being your authentic self and living out that truth every single day. Did you know that you are already a success? Having the perseverance to pursue what it is that makes you come alive inside is a huge success in and of itself.

Success isn't something that magically shows up at your doorstep one day. Similarly, when you achieve success, it is not the end of the road. Instead of thinking of achievement as something that is constantly out of arms reach, have gratitude for how far you've come and focus on what is already working well in your life.

Be brave enough to define success on your terms.

Take back your inner power and define success on your own terms. Live life for YOU. Go inward and figure out what makes you come alive inside. This is the most precious gift that you can give to yourself and the world. To succeed in life you need to be radically aligned with your true self.

When you claim your inner power you unlock your true potential in life.

A lot of people fear that, if they claim their power, others will assume that they will abuse it. As a result, they hide behind a shadow of their true self.

Inner power is a state of mind. It is the guiding force that helps you live a healthier, happier, and more successful life. When you align with your inner power, you give yourself permission to dream big.

Nobody is you and that is your greatest strength. Are you ready to claim your inner power so that you can create more of what you want in life?

If you want to claim your inner power you need to get out of your own way.

I believe that all of us have inner strength. Unfortunately, a lot of people are not activating it because they are living with a victim mentality. This “poor-me” attitude encourages the abandonment of responsibility. It feeds off of the deceitful belief that no one has control over their own life.

Research studying the psychology of victimhood suggests that individuals with a victim mentality have difficulty expressing and processing negative emotions, such as anger, fear, and disappointment. As a result, they often experience feelings of hopelessness and helplessness.

You are living with a victim mentality if you play the blame game, justify your bad behavior, and constantly complain why things aren't going your way. If you behave in this way on a consistent basis, learned helplessness may result.

This is a mindset that results from repeated loss of control over the outcome of situations. When you lose your power enough times, you learn that, no matter what you do, you can't win.

At some point in life, we are all victimized. However, the only way that you can move forward in life is if you commit to stepping out of the victim role. The #1 way to claim your inner power is to take responsibility for everything – your results, behaviors and actions. This is what mentally strong people do.

The outside world does not dictate your inner world. You are the hero of your life which means that you need to take ownership of it. When something doesn't go your way, step back and ask yourself what role you played in the final outcome.

Did you know that you give your power away every time you negatively react to someone or something?

You created your reality, which means that YOU are the only person that has the power to change it. Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, trust that life is always happening for you. Once you begin to master your thoughts, emotions and beliefs, you will realize that this is the only power that you have and need.

Make an effort to align with your inner power every single day.

As the great Susan Polis Schutz once said, “This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well.” Isn't it a beautiful feeling to know that you have the power to create the life of your dreams? The world is waiting for your gift.

Never forget that you are powerful beyond measure. When you allow your light to shine you give others the permission to do the same. It's time to claim your power!

Relationship alignment should be a goal of any couple. Are you truly aligned with your partner?

A lot of people get swept away by passion. They use the feeling of love in order to determine the quality of their relationship with someone. This is where a lot of people run into trouble. I'm not a relationship expert, but I believe that love is a choice, more than it is a feeling.

Love is a commitment that two people make, to wake up every day and be the best that they can be, both for themselves and their partners. When it comes to being in a relationship, there is no room for selfishness.

In the words of Derek Rydall, “The work of emergence is all about becoming congruent. All of our problems come from being out of alignment.” Are you ready to learn how you can achieve relationship alignment with your partner?

Do you know what relationship alignment looks like?

When a relationship is in its beginning stages, it's a beautiful feeling. It's easy to get swept away by the love that you feel for someone and forget about where you connect and fail to connect with your partner. However, it soon becomes apparent how important alignment is once the honeymoon phase of your relationship subsides.

Falling in love is easy. However, staying in love takes work. Communicating with your lover and taking their needs and wants into consideration requires compromise.

Alignment in a relationship means that you are living and loving in the same direction as someone else. If you do not take the time and effort to align your vision, core values, and passions with your partner, it will slowly start to take a toll on your relationship.

Relationships should never feel difficult. If you feel like you need to be someone else in order to satisfy your partner's needs, or if you fight so much so that you are unhappy and frustrated all the time, it's time to rethink your relationship with someone.

Life is too short for that.

Love is meant to uplift and inspire you to become a better version of yourself. When you are aligned with your partner, there is an understanding between the two of you that you are going in the same direction. If this isn't happening, both people are wasting their time.

Achieving relationship alignment starts with knowing and understanding what your core relationship values are. This is how we achieve clarity about the type of person that we want to spend our lives with.

In her book, Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand says that “Love is our response to our highest values — and can be nothing else. Our love of ourselves is reflected in everything we do and everyone we choose to have in our life.  And the most intimate of our relationships tell us the most about how we think of ourselves and what we value.”

Sometimes people get too comfortable in a relationship, or worse, they get lost in it. They end up sacrificing their core values, which leads to resentment and anger.

Let's explore 3 things that you can do in order to become more aligned with your partner.

1. Know What Their Love Language Is

A love language is a language that we speak when we are expressing love. How do you show up and give love to your partner? If you don't already know what you or your partner's love language is, I encourage you to read Dr. Gary Chapman's book, The Five Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts. In his book, he says that problems can occur when your love language doesn't match up with your partner's.

You don't have to have the same love language as your partner in order to be aligned. However, it is important that you recognize and honor what their language is. Communication is the key to success in any relationship. At the end of the day, we all just want to be heard.

2. Show Compassion For Moments When They Seem Out Of Alignment

We all have bad days when we feel out of alignment. When this happens, sometimes we can project our insecurities and frustrations onto our partners. When it comes to relationships, I believe that understanding and compassion should always come before advice.

Nobody wants to be preached to when they are feeling low, especially when it's their loved one. According to a new study published in the journal Emotioncompassion is the most important quality to have in a happy marriage.

My girlfriend and I love each other unconditionally. Sometimes our behavior shows otherwise, especially when we are stressed or overwhelmed with work. However, we never take it personally. You always need to be aware of your own ego when going through things with your partner.

It comes down to learning how to hold space for your partner when they are unable to do it for themselves. This is the purest form of unconditional love that will allow you and your partner to grow together. Nobody is perfect.

When you accept this and have compassion for someone else's feelings, it allows for more open communication and vulnerability to take place in your relationship.

3. Have an Agreement On Your Vision, Values and Core Beliefs

Our values shape our lives; they dictate how we speak, the decisions that we make, and inevitably, the people that we surround ourselves with. When you go against your values, every fiber of your being knows that you have. You only end up feeling unhappy and unfulfilled. This is no way to live.

If your vision in life is to be an Internet entrepreneur and travel the world, but your partner's vision is to become a lawyer, buy a house, and stay in one place, eventually, you will be pursuing two separate visions. This example reflects a clear misalignment of values between two people.

When it comes to your most important values, you need to be growing in the same direction as your partner. In the words of Abraham Hicks, “When you find alignment, the conditions won't matter.”

Relationship alignment is the foundation for long-term happiness and fulfillment.

Do the groundwork to make sure that you know what is important to you in a partner, and then commit to having an honest conversation with someone at the beginning of your relationship. Tell your lover what you need and ensure that you know what they need as well.

Understanding how your values align or don't align with someone will allow you to build a healthy and long-lasting relationship with them, or it will encourage you to move on and find someone who shares the same values as you do.

Introvert vs. Extrovert: Aligning Your Mission With Your Nature https://projectlifemastery.com/introvert-vs-extrovert/ https://projectlifemastery.com/introvert-vs-extrovert/#respond Fri, 10 Nov 2017 15:00:04 +0000 http://projectlifemastery.com/?p=7029 Are you ready to learn the difference between an introvert vs. extrovert, and how you can align your mission with your nature? The post Introvert vs. Extrovert: Aligning Your Mission With Your Nature appeared first on Project Life Mastery.

The secret to success is aligning your mission with your nature. Your nature is your “go to” disposition; it’s the skin that you are most comfortable in.

We tend to categorize ourselves as being either introverted or extroverted. In many ways, our fast-paced, social world was designed for extroverts to thrive, leaving introverts, who prefer solitude and quiet introspection, to fend for themselves.

In her book, The Introvert Advantage: How to Thrive in an Extrovert World, Marti Olsen Laney points out, “What's an introvert to do in such a hostile environment?”

What is your nature? One is not better than the other. It all comes down to your unique personality type. When you know where your strengths lie, aligning your mission with your nature is easy.

Watch the video below:

The reality is that few of us fit into either of these personality types. Yes, it is possible to be express qualities of both types, otherwise known as “ambiverts.”

Personality psychologist Brian Little, author of Me, Myself and Us: The Science of Personality and the Art of Well-Being argues that ambiverts are able to draw from the strengths of both personality types, and in doing so, have more freedom to shape their lives.

Each personality type has skills that anyone can learn. For example, by nature, I am an introvert, but I have learned extrovert skills.

However, if you take someone whose nature is not aligned with their mission, the likelihood of them sticking with it long-term is unlikely. Why? Because they will never be fulfilled in life.

For example, can an introvert be successful in a sales position? Of course. Anyone can do anything that they set their mind to, however, will they excel at it over the long-term? Probably not.

When it comes to a personal mission, some people are born knowing what it is that they are meant to do, while others figure it out over time. What is my mission in life? This is a question that we ask of ourselves in the process of discovering our ‘why’.

The first step in discovering your mission in life is to have an awareness of the characteristics that define your unique nature.

Each of us is different, based on our individual personalities. In order to thrive in your life and work, you need to tap into your strengths and find environments that allow you to leverage them.

Your strengths are the things that you do effortlessly. If money didn’t matter, what would you do with your time? When you know what you excel at, it can help you create the most effective path to aligning your mission with your nature.

Instead of overwhelming yourself with the question, “Who am I?”, ask yourself, “Which environments bring out my best qualities?”

At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter if you’re an introvert, extrovert, or someone in-between. All that matters is that you are aligning your mission with your nature. In the words of Oprah Winfrey, “Align your personality with your purpose, and no one can touch you.”

Are you tired of living someone else's dream? If you've always had aspirations of being your own boss, and find yourself dreading going to work every day, it's time to start building your own dream.

Why? Because life is too short not to do what you love. You are meant to do great things in this world.

Oftentimes people get stuck in their 9-5 jobs because of fear that they will fail. Having a dream is great, but nothing will ever come of it if you don't create goals and take action.

How would it feel to wake up every day with a smile on your face, knowing that you are making a difference in the world AND living your passion?

In the words of Tony Gaskins, “If you don’t build your dream, someone will hire you to help build theirs.” If this is your reality, it's time to make a change, and start creating YOUR future today!

I'm not suggesting that you quit your day job today and start a business tomorrow. Building a business is a long-term investment that takes hard work, commitment, time, patience, and grit.

A lot of people give up in the beginning stages when they don't see an immediate reward from their efforts; but if you stick with it, the payoff is beautiful.

Entrepreneurship is the key to financial freedom and living the life of your dreams.

What are you waiting for?

Here are three warning signs that may be proof your dreams are not your own.

1. Your Job Doesn't Align With Your Core Values

If your job doesn't motivate you to get out of bed every morning, there is a chance that it isn't aligned with your core life values.

What do you value? Does your current job allow you to focus on your core values? If not, it's time to start rethinking what is most important to you.

When you are aligned with your work you are connected to something that is meaningful to you. Something that allows you to fulfill your heart's desire. When this happens, it doesn't feel like work, because you are doing what you love.

As author Dr Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic explains in his book, The Talent Delusion: Why Data, Not Intuition, Is the Key to Unlocking Human Potential, “When people pick jobs that fulfill basic psychological needs, motives, and values, they immerse themselves more in their work, experience higher levels of job satisfaction, and their productivity rises.”

This is the beauty of creating a business that is yours; it gives you the freedom to design your life in a way that aligns with your core values.

2. You Work Feels Meaningless

We spend a large portion of our lives working, so it is important that we engage in work that is meaningful. Unfortunately, for most, lack of meaning is the norm.

More than 40 years of research shows that people struggle to find meaning when they lack autonomy, variety, challenge, and the chance to work on a whole product or service from start to finish.

This is where the luxury of having your own business comes into play, in that you have the intellectual and emotional freedom to create meaning behind every product and service that you deliver.

When you do work that makes a difference in the lives of others, you experience a sense of fulfillment and happiness that far outweighs a paycheck. As Viktor Frankl wrote in his book, Man's Search For Meaning, “Suffering ceases to be suffering once it finds a meaning.”

The secret to true happiness and success in life is being able to wake up every day and live your purpose. If you haven't found it yet, don't stop. Are you tired of living someone else's dream? Don't just strive for a job. Dream bigger.

3. You Are Fearful Of Not Living Up To Others' Expectations

Whose life are you living? Is it one that you intentionally created for yourself, or is it based on the inflated expectations of others? If you follow someone else's path, you will end up living a life of regret. If you can relate to this, great!

This means that you have the awareness of what brought you to where you are now, and the courage to change it. If you have found yourself in someone else's story, it's time to re-write it.

Take responsibility for your life, stop seeking approval from others, and live your own dreams. There is great freedom in letting go of the expectations of others and living in alignment with who you are.

Are you tired of living someone else's dream? If so, it's time to stop and build your own! Write down your life's vision, purpose, and goals. Then start taking steps, every day, towards creating the life that you desire.

If you don’t have a plan for your life, you will be a part of someone else’s.

In the words of the late Steve Jobs, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.

The challenge that many people face is that they try to find happiness, in the form of external circumstances or rewards. This form of happiness is only temporary.

This idea is supported by research that suggests that only 10 percent of our happiness comes from external factors. The rest of the happiness equation is made up of our genetics, the thoughts, and behaviors that we do deliberately, and our attitude.

People fail to realize that happiness comes from within, and the degree to which you experience it is entirely in your control. In the words of Many Hale, “Happiness is an inside job. Don’t assign anyone else that much power over your life.”

Want to be happy? Here’s the secret. It’s easier than you think.

Happiness flows more easily into our lives when we focus on the positive. Here’s where the problem lies. As human beings, we are hard wired to look for the negative.

This is supported by research that shows that the brain reacts more strongly to negative stimuli. Thus, our attitudes are more heavily influenced by bad news, rather than good news.

It’s easy to blame others for our downfalls, but ultimately we are the ones who are responsible for our lives. We can either rise up, take accountability and change what doesn’t feel good, or we can dwell in self-loathing and despair. Which sounds better to you?

Don’t dwell on the negative. Rather, wake up every day and ask yourself, “What is the good in this situation?” Doing so will allow you to train your brain to continually look for the positive and celebrate life to the fullest.

We all need to get out of our heads and into our hearts more. The head is great for processing information and breaking down thoughts, but our hearts are our compass, our seat of truth, and the place that we go to when we are seeking alignment.

A great way to strengthen the heart muscle is through adopting an attitude of gratitude. No matter what our circumstances are in life, we can all be grateful for something. What are you grateful for?

The feeling of happiness is a state that is achieved by way of being present with yourself and being grateful for what you have. If you actively look for the good, you will find it.

Gratitude has been shown to have countless benefits; some of which include health, happiness, satisfaction with life, and the way we relate to others.

Every single day, as part of my morning routine, I take part in a gratitude exercise in my 5-Minute Journal, which inspires me to start my day with a grateful heart. Take 5 minutes every day and write down what it is that you are grateful for. This is a simple, yet powerful exercise.

Do you want to be more happy? Here’s the secret. Let happiness find you by finding your flow and engaging in valued activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. These are the experiences that contribute to the feeling of happiness.

Happiness is a choice that we have to make every day. Create a morning ritual and engage in something every day that makes you happy. When you make this commitment to yourself, these healthy habits will shift your mindset, allowing you to see the good in everything.

Want to be happy? Here’s the secret. Make the decision to be happy NOW! Focus on it, feel it, and live it.

Take it from David Cuschieri, “Every morning I make the biggest decision of my life: To be happy today. All I know is the here and now. What happened yesterday and what may happen tomorrow is either gone or hasn’t happened yet.”

I would like to share with you 3 ways to find your flow in life. Can you remember a moment in your life when you experienced effortless focus while doing something that you loved, that time seemed to fade away?

Positive psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi describes this as flow, a mental state of complete absorption in one's current experience. In this state, you feel productive, happy, and 100% focused on the task at hand.

Oftentimes this experience is short-lived, but imagine how good it would feel if you could harness this feeling whenever your heart desired.

In the words of Csikszentmihalyi himself, “The flow experience has the potential to make life more rich, intense, and meaningful; it is good because it increases the strengths and complexity of the self.”

The question is, “How do you achieve this flow state?” It's a lot easier than you think. Are you ready to learn 3 ways to find your flow in life?

Activities that lead to a flow experience are called autotelic (from Greek: auto=self, telos=goal), because they are intrinsically motivated and gratifying. They also have an end in themselves, rather than in some other end product.

Finding your flow is about losing yourself in tasks that you are passionate about. It allows you to experience enjoyment in the progress of doing something challenging, yet rewarding.

Let's explore 3 ways to find your flow in life:

1. Calm Your Mental Chatter

Mental chatter is the inner noise that plays out in our brains every day. Before you attempt to go into a flow state, ask yourself what is going on in your mind that will prevent you from fully immersing yourself in a task.

A great way to do this is through meditation. Consciously bring attention to your thoughts, without engaging with them. Doing so will allow you to become more aware of the conditions that allow you to enter into a calm state of mind so that the experience of flow occurs naturally.

2. Find Your Zone Of Focus

We all know how discouraging it can feel to sit down, with the intention of immersing ourselves in one task, only to jump onto the next thing.

Research shows that multitasking actually drains the energy reserves of your brain. If you want to find your flow, you need train your mind to become fully immersed in one task.

Turn off all distractions until you've done nothing but the thing you set out to accomplish, for at least 20 minutes. Once you hit that point, you will tap into your flow state.

3. Do Work That You Love

If you aren't passionate about the work that you do, you will have a difficult time losing yourself in it. The best way to find your flow is to find what it is that makes you come alive inside. Invest time and effort into it, and don't settle for less.

Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, said it best: “If you’re into kite-surfing and you want to become an entrepreneur, do it with kite-surfing.”

A growing body of scientific evidence indicates that flow is highly correlated with happiness, both subjective and psychological well-being. When you utilize your talents at work and accomplish challenging goals that are meaningful to you, the outcome is full alignment with your passion and purpose in life.

These are 3 ways to find your flow in life. Knowledge about flow is great, but it's not enough. It will do nothing for you unless you take action and find ways to implement more flow into your life.

Make the effort to find that state of effortless concentration and enjoyment that makes life worth living.

Do THIS every 90 days, then watch your life and business change. I would like to share a powerful self-improvement ritual that will ensure that your business consistently grows every year.

I am a big believer that, at the beginning of every year, you need to set goals for yourself and check in to ensure that you are making progress.

The ritual that I am going to share with you involves more than just setting goals. It’s about taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture of your business and your life.

If you want to achieve success, you need to assess the direction of your business and your life, in order to ensure that you are gaining ‘altitude’, as Eben Pagan says.

Are you ready to learn about a game-changing ritual for your business and your life? Do THIS every 90 days, then watch your life and business change.

Every 90 days I schedule a meeting with my team, and I create a specific format for it. If it’s only you in the meeting, schedule it in the same way.

Here is the meeting format that I recommend you follow. Do THIS every 90 days, then watch your life and business change:

1. Review The Vision For Your Business

A clear vision gives a business and a team a sense of direction and inspiration. In my business, I make an effort to ensure that everyone on my team is in alignment with my vision, and that we discuss what that vision is on a regular basis.

Not only that, but if the vision changes in any way, we talk about the ways in which we will need to adapt our business processes in order to ensure that we are constantly growing and expanding.

Keep in mind that it’s important that you continually check in with people to ensure that they are still on board with your vision.

2. Review The Values For Your Business And Your Life

Values are critically important for your business. Not only that, but you want to make sure that there is alignment between the values that you adhere to in your life and the ones that you promote in your business.

What does your business stand for? If you have a team, you need to communicate to them which values are most important to you.

3. Give And Receive Feedback

Feedback is a great way to develop a sense of awareness about where we can improve, so that we are consistently making progress. A lot of people forget this step in their business because they don’t create a ritual to assess themselves and their team.

There are three people on my leadership team, including myself. These are people that I trust and whose opinions I value. Like any relationship, disagreements can come up within a team, and if they aren’t expressed openly it can cause resentment amongst team members.

Each person in the team shares what he or she feels they believe that they are good at, and what they can improve. I then reflect upon what I believe that I need to improve upon, and then I allow the other members of my team to do the same.

My job is to shut up, listen, and take notes. I want my team to be honest with me. The goal is to help each other grow and improve. This is a great trust-building team exercise.

4. Analyze Your Business

As a group, my team and I then brainstorm the areas where we feel that our business has done well. We celebrate and acknowledge our accomplishments over the last 90 days, and the areas where we think we can make improvements.

We also talk about any ideas or suggestions that the team or myself may have for moving forward into the next quarter.

5. Set Goals & Actions for Next 90 Days

Things change throughout the year, so you need to be flexible. In my team, we reassess the goals that we had during the previous quarter, and then for the next quarter we decide what we want to focus on.

I always try to make sure that my team and I have goals in multiple parts of our business, and that each individual has a goal that they are moving towards.

When everyone has a goal, it allows him or her to brainstorm creative ways that they can achieve it. I also make sure that there is always a reward for achieving a goal and make sure that the goal is S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely).

6. Inspire Personal Growth and Development

Every quarter I want to make sure that my team is learning and growing, whether that’s in the form of reading books, attending seminars, taking part in courses, etc.

These are things that I support my team with because I want to invest in them, like I invest in myself. By giving the people on my team the opportunity to develop new skills, that in turn supports the growth of my business as well.

My team then shares their ideas with the group, and then for the next quarter we determine how we are going to commit to learning. We make sure that everyone on my team has goals that they are moving towards.

I highly recommend this ritual. If you want to succeed in business, you need to work on it, not in it. Take it seriously and commit to mastery.

You need to be constantly checking-in, assessing, evaluating where you are at, and where you want to go. This is what the most successful companies in the world do.

Act as if you are bigger than you are. Do THIS every 90 days, then watch your life and business change.

Are you ready to take your life and your business to the next level? In the words of Frank Ocean, “Work hard in silence. Let your success be the noise.”

Are you someone that is stuck in the past? If so, it’s time to live in the now! This is the secret to a happier future.

We live in a world of distractions. We are bombarded with millions of things that take us away from the present moment, and thus diminish our ability to practice stillness.

Buddhist scholar B. Alan Wallace once said that, “We're living in a world that contributes in a major way to mental fragmentation, disintegration, distraction, de-coherence.” The good news is that you have the power to change.

Many people find themselves either obsessing about the future or dwelling in the past. This is a recipe for pain and suffering. Anything that has occurred in your life up to this point in time is ancient history. Your past does not determine or dictate your future in any way unless you allow it to.

What many of us forget is that our ability to create the future of our dreams hinges on our ability to enjoy the present moment. Don’t worry about tomorrow. It’s time to live in the now!

The world is ever-changing, and if you want to succeed you have to change with it. There is no way of knowing what your life will look like 50 years from now.

However, what you can do is take the steps necessary in order to craft the vision for your life, in the here and now. That vision may change and evolve over time, and that is OK. The important thing is that you set goals for yourself and work hard to achieve them.

The problem is that a lot of people are afraid to make any decision at all, for fear that it will be the wrong one. Instead, they prefer to live in their comfort zone because it feels safe. But there is nothing safe about this zone.

We need to examine our fears and make friends with them. Sure, some choices that we make may lead to more painful life lessons, but nothing hurts more than living in fear.

Oftentimes, what you fear most is the one that will bring you closer to living in alignment with your vision, and inevitably, what will set you free. In the words of Pema Chodron, “Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth.”

The best way to overcome fear is to adopt a growth mindset. These types of people thrive off of challenges and see failure not as evidence of their lack of intelligence, but rather as an opportunity for growth and expansion of their current strengths.

Growth and gratitude go hand in hand. By adopting an attitude of gratitude, we are able to move through life in a much more positive way, which contributes to greater happiness and fulfillment in all areas of life. When we are appreciative of what we already have and live in the now, it inspires us to grow and become more.

Oftentimes people get upset over the littlest things. Each day provides you with an opportunity to make new decisions and choices. If you take things for granted it means that you are too focused on yourself. Step outside of yourself and be more grateful for the blessings that already exist in your life. Live in the now!

The next time that you catch yourself in a negative spiral of complaining or expectation, step back and ask yourself, “In this moment, what am I am grateful for? How can I use this experience to better myself?”

What action will you take today in order to create the life that you desire? You have the choice of deciding who you want to be in this moment and what you want to create for your future.

Drop the past. The present moment is life itself. Live in the now! That is the secret to a happier future. In the words of Eckhart Tolle, “Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.” Being present is the only way to enjoy life to the fullest.
