Are you ready to start a YouTube channel?

A lot of people wait for the perfect time to start creating content on YouTube. However, there is no perfect time to start anything. Whether you feel like you're ready or not to dive into the process, I encourage you to just start. I've been a YouTuber for over 8 years now.

When I first started my YouTube channel I had no idea what I was doing. In the beginning, I was filming videos with my iPhone on a stack of books. I didn't have any fancy cameras or equipment, I just had a desire to share and serve. That was more than enough. At the time, I was in the early stages of my self-development journey.

I felt alive and excited for my future, in ways that I had never felt before. The life principles that I was learning and living by were transforming every area of my life. I wanted to inspire others to grow and evolve. That being said, I didn't start creating video content to make make money off of people.

However, fast forward to today and my YouTube channel has helped me build a multi-million dollar business doing work that I love. If you have the desire to impact millions of people through your content, YouTube is an amazing platform to do so.

Read on to get our advice on how to start a YouTube channel…

If you are just getting started, congratulations! This is an exciting journey. What we love about being YouTubers is that we get to add so much value to people all over the world. It also provides us with a unique opportunity to grow and develop ourselves.

As a result, we can add even more value to our audience. Before you get started, it's important to understand that building a YouTube channel is a journey. In the beginning, it can feel disheartening. You may not get any views from the videos that you publish. This is a part of the process.

YouTube rewards consistency. It's a game of momentum. If you are consistent, over time your channel will gain more subscribers and you will develop relationships with your viewers. It's all about figuring out what people want and what they respond to. Eventually, one of your videos will take off and your channel will grow exponentially.

In terms of the content itself, figure out what your niche is and what you are going to offer people. Keep your videos short. In the beginning stage of building your channel, people don't know you well enough yet. Thus, they don't want to give you 30 minutes of their time. Deliver on whatever the title of your videos is.

People appreciate it when you get straight to the point.

Before Tatiana and I create video content, we like to study other peoples' YouTube channels that are similar to our niche. Doing so allows us to determine the kinds of video topics that are performing well. Keep in mind that the goal isn't to copy other people's videos.

You're merely getting ideas. Every successful YouTube video starts with a great topic that others' are interested in. If you're putting out videos that people don't care about, you won't succeed on YouTube. It's not about you. Once you build up your audience you can create longer videos. At that point, your subscribers will have an interest in learning from YOU.

YouTube Tips and Tricks

First and foremost, we recommend that you film your videos in bulk. Once you record one video you will be in a state to record more. You will be more talkative and articulate. I like to take half a day to record a few different videos.

When it comes to your thumbnails, you want to make sure that they are high-quality. You could have the best video on YouTube, but if people aren't intrigued to click on your video, nobody will watch it. A great thumbnail entices people. Different thumbnails will convert differently on YouTube.

For example, a close-up thumbnail may work better versus one that is far away. Sometimes no text is better than text on the thumbnail image. You will figure out what is best through trial and error.

This is why we suggest that you create two thumbnails for each video and then split test them to determine which thumbnail is performing better. If you want to save time, you can hire a designer on Fiverr to design thumbnails for you relatively inexpensively.

The lighting is everything when it comes to creating videos. Natural light is the best for filming videos and taking thumbnail pictures. If you decide to film outside, be weary that noise can impact the quality of your videos, as well as the constantly-changing light.

Good quality audio is also crucial for engagement.

We use the Sennheiser EW 112 wireless microphone. Once you have the money to invest in a great quality camera, do it! We use a Panasonic GH5.

Finally, a powerful tool that we recommend that you use when creating your YouTube videos is TubeBuddy.

This is a great keyword research tool for determining which YouTube videos and their titles are performing the best. In turn, this will help you get your videos ranking higher in the search results, which will result in more views and subscribers over time.

Also, TubeBuddy helps you choose the best tags for your videos and allows you to split test your YouTube thumbnails. In my opinion, every new YouTuber should have this tool.

Make 2022 the year that you start your YouTube channel!

What stops a lot of people from starting a YouTube channel is fear. Don't worry about being perfect. All that matters is that you just start. Take action, stay consistent, and focus on making progress with every video you publish.

YouTube has transformed mine and Tatiana's life in so many ways. If you want to learn more about Tatiana and her work, I encourage you to follow her YouTube channel and Instagram where she shares her best tips and strategies for success with eCommerce.

I believe that everyone can benefit from starting a YouTube channel, whether you have the desire to build a business, improve your speaking skills, build confidence, or create a community of like-minded people.

The question is… are you ready to ditch your fear and share your message?

Dan Lok knows how to grow with 0 views and 0 subscribers.

He recently hit 1 million subscribers on his channel. In total, his videos have been watched over 100 million times across his social media platforms, making him one of the most followed influencers of our time. In order to fully understand how Dan Lok achieved this feat, it's important to learn about his story. He comes from humble beginnings.

Born in Hong Kong, Dan and his family immigrated to Canada when he was 14 years old in the hopes that they could create a better life. He didn't speak a word of English when he arrived. When he was a teenager his father went bankrupt and was forced to move back to Hong Kong. Dan and his mother were left in Canada.

When his father wasn't able to send money anymore, Dan became the man of the house. Because his mother had a limited skill set, he became the sole income earner for the two of them. Dan quickly became disillusioned by the education system, so he decided to drop out of college. Shortly after, he pursued a copywriting job with his now mentor, Alan Jacques.

That job ended up becoming his “million-dollar” year.

He learned everything that he needed to know about the business world. After 13 failed business attempts and a sheer determination to succeed, he is now a multi-millionaire celebrity entrepreneur. In our interview together, I pick Dan's brain about how to grow with 0 views and 0 subscribers fast. Here is a sneak peek of our conversation.

Can you share how you started on YouTube and the process that you went through in order to get your first 1,000 subscribers?

I uploaded my first video in November 2015. In the beginning stages, it was a really difficult process because I didn't have a strategy or a blueprint that I could f0llow. I told all of my friends about my channel so that they would subscribe to it. That's how I got my first 20 subscribers.

In the beginning stages, it feels really discouraging because nobody is watching your videos. You may only get a few views and one or two likes, if any, on your videos. Before you can start growing your channel, you need to understand how YouTube thinks and works. YouTube makes money by having people advertise on their channel. That's their business model. The goal of their platform is to keep users on YouTube for as long as possible. It's all based on watch time. The more videos that people watch, the more opportunities that YouTube has to run ads and make money from them.

Once I hit 100,000 subscribers I started to take my YouTube channel seriously.

In the entrepreneurial space, there are only a handful of channels that have over 100,000 subscribers. I knew that once I hit 1 million subscribers, I would be able to take my business to a whole new level. That being said, you always need to make sure that you are publishing high-quality content, no matter how many subscribers you have. If your content connects with people, they will come back for more and more. More importantly, YouTube will reward you for it.

How do you define high-quality video content?

Watch time is extremely important. If you have 0 subscribers and o views, do not look at your subscribers as a number. It's a horrible thing to do. Look at each subscriber as a person who is sitting there investing their time and energy into watching your content. They are the people who will tell their friends about your channel. In the beginning stages of growing your channel, you need to interact with your viewers.

Even to this day, I look through people's comments and comment back.

I want to know what my viewers want. From a content point of view, my videos are very edgy. I'm blunt and direct. I like to do things like challenge the education system. This is my signature style and it resonates with a lot of people.

Can you share some strategies for how to grow from 0 views and 0 subscribers?

In the beginning stages of growing your YouTube channel, people don't know who you are. This is why you need to upload YouTube videos on a consistent basis. Stick to a schedule and commit to what you are comfortable with. If you don't want to publish three videos every week, commit to one video.

When it comes to YouTube, you always have to be thinking long-term. Don't give up after six months. Rather, commit to building your channel over one or two years. The snowball effect takes time.

Secondly, track your upload time. This will depend on your niche. The day and time that you upload a video make a difference. I've learned that I get more views in the morning, versus the afternoon or evening time. Test it and find what works for you.

Thirdly, when you are growing your channel, you have to tell people to subscribe. Don't just assume that people will do so. At the end of every single one of your videos say something like, “If you like my content, click on the bell and turn on the notification to subscribe. Leave a comment below or a thumbs up.” That call to action is a must.

Are you ready to build your YouTube channel?

If so, Dan and I are doing a FREE YouTube masterclass where we will dive a lot deeper into how you can build your YouTube channel from scratch. You will learn how to create your content, grow your subscriber list, and actually make money from YouTube.

Now is the time to grow your business by leveraging the power of YouTube. Online video is the future of content marketing. The question is… are you going to take advantage of it?

The message is loud and clear…sharing your story inspires others.

You have a message to share with the world that is unique to who you are.

When it comes to building your brand, storytelling is everything. Research shows that the human brain responds to the descriptive power of stories in deeply affecting ways, influencing both the sensory and motor cortex.

Sharing who you are and why you do what you do is a powerful way to develop a strong connection with your audience, which in turn, creates trust.

You might think that your story isn’t worth telling or that it won’t interest anyone. Trust me, it will.

Watch the video below where I talk about how to make money on YouTube while inspiring others:

What is the message of your story?

A photo can speak a thousand words, but a story can inspire a thousand lifetimes. When I think back to the most transformative moments in my life, a story seamlessly unfolds. I can see the opening scene where I had my bright idea, the plot where I put my plan into action, the life-changing characters I met along my journey, and the climax where I achieved my wildest dreams.

As you are reading this, you may be curious about which particular life event of mine I’m describing. It wouldn’t just be you who’s curious; humans love to tell stories and listen to the stories of others.

You may be wondering, “What does storytelling have to do with business?” It's literally the foundation of everything that you do. In my opinion, storytelling should be at the heart of every entrepreneur's content marketing efforts. If you are unable to sell yourself and your brand to your audience, your business won't survive.

In her book, The Story Factor: Inspiration, Influence, and Persuasion Through The Art of Storytelling, Annette Simmons talks about how storytelling can be used to persuade, motivate, and inspire in ways that cold facts, bullet points, and directives cannot. You cannot expect to influence anyone if you do not yet know what your story is. The beauty of sharing your story is that it can be integrated into many different forms of content, whether that's YouTube videos, blogs, training programs or eBooks. Entrepreneurs that master the storytelling process end up having customers for life.

By sharing your story, it entices people to keep coming back for more.

The Nike “Just Do It” campaign is a perfect example of masterful storytelling. Even though their campaign launched nearly thirty years ago, it is still going strong to this day. The one thing that many people have in common is the desire and drive to achieve the unthinkable and become the “it factor.” This is why Nike's story of the hero's journey appeals to so many people, and why Nike continues to be an iconic brand that other companies aspire to.

When it comes to making purchasing decisions, people buy based on emotion. This is supported by neuroscience that shows that the left side of our brain, where we think logically; and the right side, where we engage on an emotional level. Powerful stories evoke emotion in people. However, in order for this to happen, you have to tell your story in an authentic way. Authenticity always wins.

Unfortunately, a lot of people shy away from telling their story because they feel shame around it. Owning your story can be scary, but it can also be liberating. Sharing with the world the battles that you've had to overcome in order to get to where you are today shows strength. It also requires that you are willing to be vulnerable. It's a way of saying: “This is who I am and I’m damn proud of it.”

Your story is unique.

There are billions of people on Earth. No one has had the same exact experiences, the same exact hardships, or the same exact victories. Each of us has a complex life full of emotions, thoughts, goals, dreams, desires, downfalls, and peaks.

When I hear others share their life stories with me, it is how they came back from struggles and failures that have the most profound impact on me. In this constant maze of life, I believe that we are all searching for a deeper meaning. Because we’re all connected, the story that gives your life meaning can also give meaning to others' lives.

The question remains, “What is the best way to share your story?” I believe that video should be a core part of every entrepreneur's content marketing strategy. In today's digital world, video is everywhere. Anyone can watch a video online, whenever and wherever they want. If you have a business, this offers a huge opportunity to get your message heard on a global scale.

Let's take YouTube as an example.

It is the second largest search engine in the world, next to Google. Almost 5 billion videos are watched on YouTube every single day. With numbers like these, imagine how many people you can reach and inspire. Do you have a YouTube channel? If not, I encourage you to start leveraging this platform. It's not too late to start on YouTube. In fact, there is no better time to do so.

Video marketing is powerful because it allows you to show emotion. As I mentioned above, emotion is one of the biggest drivers of consumer behavior. By telling your story through visual content, it helps people make connections with the purpose of your brand. Ultimately, when people watch your videos, you want them to feel inspired to take action. This could be in the form of purchasing one of your products or clicking on a link that takes them to your email list.

When it comes to video, there is no mask for you to hide behind. It's raw and real, and that's what people are looking for. They want to see and hear your emotions, your passion, and your truth. Don't overthink it. Just commit to making storytelling a part of your content marketing strategy.

The more videos that you create, the more you will discover your voice. Over time, sharing your story online will become a symbiotic relationship between you and your viewers. In this feedback loop, sharing your story will carry you and your viewers to heights that neither of you could have ever imagined. The message is loud and clear… sharing your story inspires others.

Are you ready to share your authentic story?

What you have to say is important. Your life is a work of art; it's a rich tapestry of experiences that have interwoven together to make you who you are. When you share your story, it causes a ripple effect and inspires others to do the same. In the words of Morgan Harper Nicholas, “Tell the story of the mountain you climbed. Your words could become a page in someone else's survival guide.”

Rob Burns' video marketing tips will help to skyrocket your online traffic.

Here is a sneak peek of my interview with him, where we talk about the power of video marketing for online businesses today.

Can you tell us a little bit about what you do?

A video, for the most part, is used by an agency or video team. Usually, they are one-off video projects. It takes a lot of time and money. We went and spoke to all of the main eCommerce folks and said, “What do you need, what isn't out there, and what do you wish you had?” We built a platform and systemized everything. Once you join our platform, there's a drop-down menu. You can pick your actor and watch a 15-second video so that you can hear them speak. By doing this, you know if it matches your communities.

You want your spokesperson to match your avatar.

You can choose your own custom backgrounds. If you don't like the ones that you have, you can send one to us and we will create it for you. Same thing with music, intros, and outros. If a customer has any extra product footage that they want us to integrate, there is a section where you can add and edit it in, at no extra charge.

A lot can be lost in a video as a result of the collaboration process.

Instead of having to communicate with multiple people at different times, whether that's with scriptwriters, editors or a customer support team, we have one place where you can talk to everybody. This is what makes our platform so unique. It ensures that nothing slips through the cracks or is missed. We set it up so that you can see when your video is ready to publish.

Why do you think that video is so important for eCommerce sellers? What kinds of results have you seen once your clients have started to use video?

Marketing and sales 101 would say that the best sale is made by shaking someone's hand. The next best thing would be to create a video. Some people are naturally visual and auditory. They don't want to read. People's attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. A video is a great way to make a quick and personal connection with somebody.

The main thing that you want to do from a marketing perspective is getting people to like and trust you. If you do it right, you can achieve that very quickly with video.

Do you mind sharing a little bit about the different ways that you can brand, communicate, and market your products via video?

The biggest mistakes that I see a lot of people make when they first do a video is that they focus too much on themselves and how awesome their product is. However, people don't really care about you. They care about themselves and finding a solution to their pain. With our product review video, its a third party person. It's almost as if someone is giving a review. This is really effective.

About 80% of viewers are mobile now.

We do a lot of social media ad type stuff, like Facebook ads. Some of our clients accidentally posted their Instagram ads on Facebook. They crushed the Facebook ad because an Instagram ad is limited to 59 seconds. It's also 1080 x 1080, meaning that it's square.

We also do retargeting ads. We have a funnel package where we will do the YouTube, Instagram, Facebook videos, and then we will have product videos. Let's say that someone goes from a Facebook ad to a product video, and then they bounce off of the product video page. We will have the exact same person and product in the retargeting ad.

We like to see people do a survey series. These are awesome because it puts clients back into a sales funnel. People are going to tell you why they didn't buy your product.

The more that you know about your client, the more that you can narrow down and figure out who your avatar is.

We are doing things like cinemagraphs. This is when you take 10 seconds of a video and you freeze everything, but leave one section animated. We are also experimenting with doing a survey funnel with video chatbox. Those are great videos for marketers that we've found them to be very effective.

Can you share a little bit about the work you do for crowdfunding campaigns?

By 2019, 80% of all internet content will be video. Crowdfunding videos are great because they are very effective at story selling. You can make connections with people. The best crowdfunding videos are with the founders of a product. You can tell a founder's story, but also put yourself in the viewer's place.

Crowdfunding is about solving someone else's problem. Those are the videos that do really well. It's all about the hero's journey.

When it comes to creating video content, could you share some tips about what someone should focus on?

The biggest mistake that people make is to talk about themselves and how awesome their product is. The sad truth is that people don't care. The second thing would be to solve a problem.

What is the pain point of the person in the video?

I always use the Star Wars analogy where the hero in the video is actually the person watching the video. That would be Luke Skywalker. When you think about it, Yoda has all the skills. He's the one that has the brain power to make things levitate and read people's minds. He's the guide.

If you can position yourself or your product as the skilled guide that's helping the hero, which is the viewer, then you are really going to see some good conversions.

Would you typically have a teleprompter or memorize the script?

Again, it depends. Our basic stuff has teleprompters. If it's a larger production then usually we are using professional actors, and that is when the script is memorized. A lot of times, for people who are shooting their own stuff, being natural and organic is key. Sometimes it can be more effective to take this route. If you are being raw and authentic, it will increase the trust factor with your audience. People are looking for real. You want your product videos to be more polished because you want people to have faith in you and your product. However, when it's just you in a video, being authentic is most important.

What other elements make for a good video?

It's about making a connection. Establish that you are similar to the community that is watching the video and then talk about people's pain points and the things that are going to make them happy.

It's either things that they want or its eliminating things that they don't want.

Lastly, if you do those things right, then the close can be quick. You can say, “Hey, if you are really interested, click here.” You would think that the back end would be much more loaded, in terms of closing someone. However, it's not. The front end is the place that matters most. It's all about creating trust.

Any general advice for someone that has a product, know's that they should do video, but they aren't doing it?

The #1 thing is to just do it, even if you fail.

How can people learn more about you guys?

If you go to videotelepathy.com/ecomm you can schedule a time to talk to somebody. Our whole sales process is about helping people. We never try to sell anything. We are all about answering questions. Even if you don't want to buy anything, schedule a time and we will be glad to help you out.

I hope these video marketing tips inspire you to start creating video content!

Like Brian said, the best thing that you can do is just start. Video marketing is the future. If you want to create engaging online marketing for your online business, a video is the best way to do it. In the words of Gary Vaynerchuk, “No matter what you do, your job is to tell your story.”

The Content Marketing Institute defines content marketing as, “A marketing technique of creating and distributing relevant and valuable content to attract, acquire, and engage a clearly defined and understood target audience, with the objective of driving profitable customer action”.

Content marketing is not a new concept, but it is more important than ever before. Content is king; it is one of the best ways to attract people to your brand online.

In my business, I spend the majority of my time creating content. This has been the most powerful way to attract traffic to my website and to add value to people.

It's never been easier to produce content online. The Internet affords anybody the opportunity to share content, anywhere in the world  You don’t have to be an expert to do so. When I started creating content in 2012, I had a small digital camera that I put on a stack of books, and I shared my journey, my daily rituals, and my goals with the world.

Today I have a lot of fancy camera equipment, but the reality is that my most-watched YouTube video, to-date, was from back in 2012. There is a misconception that you cannot create content if you are not an expert, or if you are not a good writer. None of this matters.

All that matters is that you decide to get started.  If you are consistent with it, you will get better, as time goes on. Content comes in many different forms – video, article, images, quotes, etc., and there are many different free platforms available for you to create and publish content on – Facebook, Twitter, Periscope, Snapchat, YouTube, etc.

You have to identify the best type of content that will be the most relevant for the audience that you are trying to attract, based on the niche and market that you are in. Robert Rose, the Chief Strategist from The Content Marketing Institute once said, “Marketing is telling the world you are a rock star. Content marketing is showing the world that you are one”.

High-quality content is the key to marketing success.  If you create an amazing piece of content in your market or niche, and someone consumes it and receives value from it, then ideally, they will want to subscribe to you. This is what has allowed me to build my brand and become so successful online.   When I release or share a product, people know that they will receive value from me.

They trust me, and in turn, I am able to develop long-term relationships with them. When you are first starting out, Google analytics and YouTube statistics can help you determine which topics to focus on the most. In turn, you will be able to create more engaging content, and target your audience, in the niche or market that you are in.

Once you have a following, then you can listen to your subscribers and find out what they want. You can also research what other bloggers or You Tubers are doing, follow them, and look to see what topics their viewers are resonating with.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to be consistent with your content. It’s not enough to publish something one time. Once a week is great to start off with, but if you can do more, the better. In my business, I try to publish content 5 days a week.  If you can post every 3 hours on social media, you will have more organic reach.

It’s all about leveraging and repurposing yourself so that you can create more content on multiple different platforms. If you can create content around a niche or topic that you have a passion for, you will have an incredible advantage. The process of content creation is so enjoyable for me because it’s my passion. I get paid to journal online.

The process of sharing what I have learned and mastered, and create content out of it, has allowed me to integrate it much deeper in my life. Build your content marketing plan and watch your online business grow. Your audience is waiting for you!

Video transcript

Hey everyone!  This is Stefan, from ProjectLifeMastery.  In this video, I want to share with you about the power of content marketing – how to use it in your online business to attract people to you, get traffic, and build your brand.  I'm going to share a few tips with you that can help you utilize content marketing in a very effective way.

Content is one of the best ways to build your brand online. It's one of the best ways to attract people to you. In fact, if you look at Project Life Mastery, creating content is what I spend the majority of my time doing in my business.  It has been the most powerful way to get traffic to me, and also to add value to people as well.  Content comes in many different forms. Content can come in the form of a video, a piece of content that hopefully adds value to you and benefits you in some way.

It can come in the form of an article that someone might read on a blog. It can come in the form of an image that you might find on Facebook or Instagram, or a quote that is interesting or informative. There are many different types and forms of content. It could even be interviewing someone.

Identify the best type of content

I want you to understand there are many different types of content, and you've got to identify the best type of content that is going to be most relevant for your audience, for the market or niche that you're in, or the people that you're trying to attract.  Every niche or market is going to be totally different in terms of what they want and what kind of content that they're going to want to consume from you.  There are many different platforms available, for free, for you to be able to create and publish content on.

That's the amazing thing about the Internet. Facebook is free. Instagram is free. Twitter is free. Periscope, Snapchat, Pinterest, YouTube – they're all free. Anybody can sign up, set up an account, and start creating content.  These days, creating content has never been as easy.  To record a video, you can literally just do it with your iPhone, or any phone that you have.  Most phones now have cameras on them.  You can use that to record yourself and create content that you can then upload onto the Internet.

If you've got a laptop or a computer, most of them have webcams built into them or you can just find a webcam inexpensively and set that up with your computer and record videos that way. Anybody can write their own content these days.  The Internet is a place where anybody can share their experiences. You don't have to be an expert. You don't have to be a know-it-all, or an authority on a subject.

Anybody can share things they might have learned or things that they feel can help other people.  That's the beautiful thing about it. Anybody can do it, anywhere in the world and, of course, from there, you can attract people to you.

Just do it

When I started creating content in 2012 for Project Life Mastery, I just had a little digital camera that I put on a stack of books.  I didn't have any audio equipment or anything like that, and I just spoke in front of the camera.  I shared things that I learned; my journey, my goals, and my fitness progress.  I was able to attract people that way. In fact, today, I've got all this great camera equipment, but my most watched YouTube video is one from back in 2012 from that little digital camera that I had.

The camera even fell over in that video and I dropped my pen.  Sure enough, that's my most popular video.  I think there's a misconception from people who think, “I can't create content because I'm not an expert. I don't have the right camera equipment. I'm not the best writer”.  None of those things matter, guys. All that matters is that you just decide to get started and, ideally, the sooner the better.

The sooner that you start creating content and you're consistent with it, what is going to happen is that you are going to get better as time goes on.  I look back on the the content that I created back in 2012 and I'm like, “Oh my god. That content was horrible,” and that's only because I've gotten better. Anything that you do enough of you're going to get better at.  Nobody is great at something the first time they do it.

Everybody sucks the first time that they do something, but if you have a growth mentality and you're just committed to getting better and better at it as time goes on then, eventually, you're going to get much better at creating content.

Outsourcing your content

You can outsource content. I've got a friend, Caleb, who built a brand called Young and Raw, with his girlfriend Sheleana. It's all about raw food and healthy living. They built that brand by having guest contributors contribute content to their website.  They had health experts and nutritionists submit articles to their website. That's how they built their brand, and sure enough, they've been able to monetize that through affiliate marketing and through their own products.

You don't necessarily have to create content yourself. You could find other people that contribute to you. You can hire writers and content producers that can create content for you, and then you just have to provide the platform, where other people can submit their content to.  There are many ways of doing it, but content is by far one of the most powerful ways of getting exposure online. Content is also great, because if you create a piece of content in your market based on what people want and someone consumes that content, they receive some great value from that and they're like, “Wow.  You know what? This is great. I learned so much great information. I got some good tips,”.  Ideally, what's going to happen is they're going to want to subscribe to you. That's what has allowed me to build my brand.  Somebody might watch this video and be like, “Wow. You know what, this is really useful. I really enjoyed this video. I enjoy this person. He's got some great tips.  I'm going to subscribe to his YouTube channel or I'm going to subscribe to his email list or like him on Facebook,” or whatever it is so that I can receive more value from that person.  Quality content is key.

It has to be quality content

If you publish quality then people are going to like, follow you, and want more from that, which in turn gives you the ability to build a relationship with that person over time, to add more value to them, and strengthen that relationship. Also, what happens is that when someone receives benefit and value from you, then all of a sudden, they're going to develop a relationship with you.

They will trust you or develop some good will where they feel like, “Wow.  This is great. I owe you one. Thanks. That was a great tip”.  Sure enough, the law of reciprocity kicks in.  When you give to someone then they're going to want to give back to you.  I've found that, in doing so, I've actually had people that have offered to give me money, which I'm definitely very flattered.  If you have your own product or service or maybe you're doing affiliate marketing, then that person is going to be more likely to buy it from you, as opposed to from anyone else because they like, know, and trust you.

You've already given value to them and they're going to much rather do business with you, as opposed to someone that they don't even know.  That is the challenge with a lot of forms of marketing, is that when you're marketing to cold traffic, people that have no idea who you are, they're going to be a lot less likely to buy, as opposed to from someone that likes you, knows you and trusts you, because they've already received benefit and value from you.

That's what has really allowed me to do well online, because I've spent so much time providing content that a lot of people love, so that when I release a product, or I recommend or share a product, people know that they're going to receive value and benefit from me.  Maybe not everyone but, for the most part, my tribe and the followers have bought my products and done business with me, which is really great.

The key to quality content and consistency

Make sure that the content that you're publishing is relevant to the market or the audience, that you're trying to attract.  You've got to make sure that you create content based on what other people want, rather than what you want.  When you're first starting out, you're going to try to get that data by looking at the analytics and the stats of Google, YouTube and some of these other platforms.  These platforms will tell you what people are searching for, which can give you ideas of what to create content on.

Once you get subscribers and followers, then you can listen to them. You can find out what they want. For me, people are always  asking me, “Stefan, can you share this? Can you share that?” That gives me great ideas that I can create content on that I know that people are interested in. You can also look to see what other bloggers or YouTuber's on social media in the niche or market that you're in are doing.  You could follow them and look to see what pieces of content or topics that people are resonating with.

That is a really great indicator for you of what you should create content on.  The other key to creating content is consistency. It's not enough just to publish something one time and then never publish anything ever again.  You want to have a consistent schedule of publishing. Whether that's once a week, once every three days, or every day. It doesn't matter.

If you could do once a week, I've found that to be key. I wouldn't do less than that.  Publish content once a week, whether that's a blog post, a video, or a podcast.  If you can do more, the better.  The more the better, because that will give you more exposure. For me, in my business, I try to publish at least five days a week, although sometimes I publish content every day.  Just try to make sure that you're as consistent as possible.

Social media content

When it comes to social media, you are going to want to post even more consistently. If you can  post every three hours on social media, like Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, the better, because the more frequent that you are, the more organic reach that you're going to have on those platforms.  You get rewarded for that, which is why consistency is very important.

You can do some of the social media stuff  yourself. You could outsource it.  I did a great video that went into my content creation machine.  Hopefully you watched that because it shares more about how I turn a ten-minute video into multiple sources of content that I publish online.  It's about leveraging and re-purposing yourself so that you can create more content on all of these different platforms.

If you can create content around a niche or a topic that you have an interest in, or even a passion for, you're going to have an incredible advantage.  For me, I don't have to spend time researching my content because my research involves reading books, going to seminars, having coaches, and going through courses and programs.

I'm learning so much because I stand on shoulders of giants.  I'm learning from other people, which allows me to share what it is that I'm learning and doing with you guys on my YouTube channel, in a blog post, or whatever it might be.  For me, the process of content creation is so enjoyable and fun, for me.  I basically get paid to journal online; to share things that I learn.  By sharing things that have benefited me in my life, it helps me learn it even more.

I think reading books is great, going to seminars is great, going through courses, and having coaches is great, but you've got to make sure that you master what it is that you learn. For me, the process of sharing this and being able to put it out there online and create content out of it, has helped me to integrate it much deeper in my life.  The process of creating content is something that I would do anyways. I think everybody should do it, because it is a very enjoyable and beneficial process.

Conclusion

To give you an idea, even seminars that I go to, at the end of that day, I'm writing out the things that I had learned from it, in order to reinforce and go over everything in my notes. It just so happens that I do that on my blog and on my videos, and it becomes content that I can share with other people as well. So, if you're in the fitness market, the self-development market, the gardening market, the spirituality market, the habit market, the dog training market, or whatever market that you're in, you should be interested in the topic that you're building your business around, so that you can research, learn and be able to have ideas that you can create content off of.

Those are some tips for you. I don't want to make this video too long, but hopefully you received some benefit and value from this. If you did, hit the thumbs up button. Make sure to subscribe for more videos like this, and leave a comment below. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this as well. I could talk all day and all night about content. It's one of my favorite subjects and it's been my favorite way to build my business.

It's free to do it. Anybody can sign up for Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. You can set up a website with a domain name for $10/year. Hosting is about $5/month.  It is very inexpensive to start a blog and a website to share that content on.  Just get started with it. If you want to know more information about how I've built my business, how I use content, how I make money from my content, and how I do affiliate marketing, then I've got a great course and a free video series on affiliate marketing mastery.

You can go to Affiliate Marketing Mastery, or click the link in the description below. Head on over there. You will receive four free videos from me. Check that out if you want to learn more. Thanks for watching.
