One of the biggest mistakes that a lot of entrepreneurs face when growing their businesses is that they try to do everything themselves. From personal experience, this is the fastest way to burnout. Understand that you can't do everything by yourself, nor should you.

Successful business owners maximize their strengths and talents and hire people who are better at fulfilling the objectives they are weakest in. If you want to grow your business the right way, I encourage you to outsource your tedious, everyday tasks.

Some of these things may include answering emails, scheduling, research, and development, content writing, or graphic design. Yes, you could learn these skills on your own, but you've only got so much time in the day to work on your business. Outsourcing saves you time, energy, and money. You only want to focus on learning high-income generating skills.

On Fiverr, you can search for literally any task that you want to outsource to a freelancer. Some of the most popular services to outsource include web and mobile design, voice-over, WordPress setup, logo design, and dropshipping.

One thing that I love about Fiverr is that you're able to see how many reviews someone has. When you're outsourcing this gives you a level of certainty that you can expect something of quality. Every freelancer will charge a different rate for their services, based on their skills and number of reviews.

I've been using Fiverr for many years now. Below are the 7 best Fiverr gigs that I've paid for that have helped me grow my business. 

1. Protecting your brand with a U.S. Trademark application

In my business, I own a lot of different trademarks for different brand names that I have and use. I used to be able to file a trademark myself through the United States Patent and Trademark Office. However, they've changed the rules.

Today, you have to be a U.S. resident to be able to file your trademark. If you live outside of the U.S., which I do, you have to hire a trademark attorney to do it for you. I decided to hire a trademark attorney via Fiverr.

It cost me $300 and the lawyer that I hired delivered my trademark application in 7 days. This route was a lot cheaper than if I had found an attorney elsewhere.

2. Designing an eye-catching eBook or Kindle cover

You can hire high-quality designers on Fiverr to design a book cover fairly inexpensively. When I'm preparing to publish a book, I'll hire three different people to design the same cover for me.

This will allow me to determine who designs the cover that I like the most. It may cost me $30-40 total for the three covers, but it's worth it. I can test the covers on different platforms to see which one converts the best.

When it comes to designing a book cover, you don't want to be stingy. People judge your book based on the cover. It is the first thing that people see so you want it to be enticing. Make sure that you have an engaging title, clear text, a professional font, and a good choice of colors.

3. Formatting a Kindle, eBook, or paperback book

Formatting a book is a very tedious task. It requires a lot of trial and error until you finally get it right. When it comes to people reading your book, first impressions are everything.

The last thing that you want is bad reviews as a result of a book formatting issue. There are so many better things that you can be doing in your business that can make you more money.

4. Designing a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation

Putting together a high-quality PowerPoint can be a lot of work. Whenever I'm giving a speech I like to hire someone who can convert my presentation notes into a PowerPoint.

Outsourcing a task like this allows me to focus solely on my talk instead of worrying about the design component of the presentation.

5. Sharing your site to SEO bookmark sites

Getting bookmarks is beneficial for SEO so that your content and website rank better in the search results. 

Be mindful that there are some blackhat gigs on Fiverr that can get you into trouble, especially when it comes to SEO. If someone is using illegal software or blasting your website with thousands of unnatural backlinks, it can hurt your website.

Do your research and make sure that a freelancer is using whitehat SEO, meaning any practice that improves your search rankings on a search engine results page, while maintaining the integrity of your website and staying within the search engines' terms of service.

6. Writing a press release 

Creating a press release is a great way to build your brand's reputation or get media attention for a new product or service that you want to promote.

A press release can be very time-consuming to write. Hence, this is why it's great to leave this task to a content writer who specializes in helping businesses and entrepreneurs grow their brands.

7. Paying Instagram influencers to do a shout-out for you

Shout-outs are a smart influencer marketing strategy. This is a totally legit service. It doesn't involve buying followers. Basically, it's like getting promoted by a top Instagram user.

You can find people who have 500,000+ Instagram followers and pay them $5 or more to make a story about your content and tag your handle.

This is a great way to increase your following, boost your engagement, grow your brand, and inevitably make more money selling whatever it is that you're offering.

There are endless reasons why starting an online business will work, but the question is, “Are you letting fear hold you back from taking action?” If the only thing holding you back from building an online business is fear of failure, I want to dispel this fear once and for all. 

Fear of failure prevents a lot of people from taking the first step towards becoming an entrepreneur. Let's face it… nobody likes to fail. We are taught from a young age that failure is a bad thing, so much so that we run from anything that doesn't feel safe. Tony Robbins is known for stating that we will do more to avoid pain than we will to gain pleasure.

This makes sense. Avoiding pain keeps you safe. However, while keeping you safe it will also prevent you from achieving your dreams. This is why I am a big believer in using pain as a motivator and catalyst for growth. It is near impossible to grow and expand if you stay inside your comfort zone.

I see failure as an essential stepping stone to success. I didn't build a 7-figure online business by playing it safe, and I definitely wouldn't be the person who I am today if I didn't experience failure. You may not believe it, but I've failed thousands of times and I plan on failing more in the future. I'm not scared of failing.

In fact, I embrace failure because it means that I am experimenting with life and figuring out what works and what doesn't. That is thinking smart. Almost every entrepreneur I know experiences moments of fear when they are first starting an online business. However, the ones who went on to achieve massive success never once allowed fear to derail their plans.

Their goals are bigger than their fear of failing.

They persevere and act, despite their fear. If you are new to the online business world, the most important thing that you can do is learn. Knowledge is power. However, if you don't do anything with it, it's pointless. The only way that you gain experience is by taking action and doing something.

If you try something and it doesn't work out, acknowledge what you learned from the experience before you move onto the next thing. Turn your mistakes into life lessons. That is the most valuable part of the learning process. In fact, adopting this mindset is what will allow you to prosper and succeed. The more you learn, the more you earn. 

For those of you who are patiently waiting for the perfect moment to build an online business, you're going to be waiting for a long time. Perfect doesn't exist. There are so many opportunities that exist online right now. Pick one and go all-in! If you change your mind and decide to change paths down the road, that's OK.

It won't mean that you wasted your time. Rather, you will have gained precious experience and knowledge that you can take with you into your next opportunity. When I first started my online business, I dabbled with a lot of different things. The process of taking messy action allowed me to gain valuable experience.

By the time I started Project Life Mastery in 2012, I had a world of knowledge at my disposal. However, it still took me 3 years before I started making money online. Some people may perceive this as a ‘failure' but in my eyes, it wasn't. Those 3 years set the foundation for the success that I have today.

Choose one online business model and go deep with it. I don't care what it is. Just commit and practice to learning anything and everything about that one thing. When you master a specific skill set, there is no limit to how successful you can be.

Regardless of your educational background, skillset, or age, you can get paid to work from home. The trick is knowing what the best money-making options are. Let's dive into 7 ways to make money while working from home during the quarantine.

1. Become A Tutor Online

A lot of schools are closing down and offering virtual classes to students. This has created a huge problem for parents. They either have to homeschool their children or hire someone who can tutor their children online. If you have a skill set that can help children with their education, like teaching English or Mathematics, you can earn up to $30 per hour doing online tutoring. 2. Become A Freelancer

Alternatively, you could become a customer service rep. A lot of companies like Amazon are currently hiring for a role like this. If you're a writer or editor, you could create content for bloggers online. Similarly, if you have social media marketing, graphic design, or video editing experience, there are a lot of companies who need these skills.

3. Amazon Book Publishing 

A lot of people are quarantined at home right now which means that they are consuming more content in the form of books. As a result, book sales are surging online. Amazon book publishing is an excellent opportunity to make money from home.

Publishing books is a recession-proof business. Low-ticket products will always sell regardless of how the economy is doing. On top of that, you don't need to invest a lot of money to get started selling books on Amazon. If you write your book, all you need to do is get a cover designed. This can cost as low as $5-10. If you don't want to write your book, you can hire a ghostwriter to do it for you.

Keep in mind that you don't need to write a lengthy book. Choose a book niche on a certain topic and write 40-50 pages worth of content. Within 24 hours, your book can be available on Amazon for purchase. I have a course called Mastering Book Publishing that teaches people how to create and publish their books on Amazon, even if they've never written a book or sold anything online.

4. Fulfillment By Amazon

Amazon FBA stands for fulfillment by Amazon. This is the process of private labeling someone else's product, putting your packaging and branding on it, and selling it on Amazon. If you go to Alibaba.com you can find a supplier anywhere in the world who can make a product for you.

You can order a certain number of units from them, ship your product to one of Amazon's fulfillment centers, and leverage the hundreds of millions of customers who buy products on Amazon. Right now Amazon is one of the best opportunities online.

More and more people are shopping online. Research shows that 14% of all new online grocery shoppers in March chose Amazon, which made it the second most popular option after Walmart. While they're grocery shopping many people are sure to do some online shopping as well.

5. Affiliate Marketing

This is one of my favorite ways to make money online. Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting someone else's product or service. There are many affiliate programs that you can choose from that are free for you to join. Amazon Associates is one that I recommend.

You can do affiliate marketing by building a blog or YouTube channel. The first step would be to create content online. You can review products that you're promoting and share the pros and cons of each of them. If people find your content online, and purchase a product through your affiliate link, you will get a commission for your efforts.

Keep in mind that this business model will take more time and effort to build before you see results. However, once it's up and running, there is no limit to how much money you can make.

6. Building A YouTube Channel

If you have passion or knowledge in a given subject, building a YouTube channel is a great way to add value to people and build an audience. I've been a YouTuber for 8 years now. During the beginning of my YouTube journey, I was nervous to put myself out there.

However, I stuck with it and built up my audience to where it is today. I have over 950,000 subscribers. As of late, my YouTube channel is growing rapidly because more people are watching YouTube videos during the quarantine. Thus, if you're interested in building a YouTube channel, now is the best time to do so.

As a YouTuber, you can market other products or services that you want to sell on the backend. For example, if you do affiliate marketing, Amazon book publishing, or Amazon FBA, you can use your YouTube channel to promote other people's products, your books, or your physical products.

Even better, you can apply for monetization which means that YouTube will pay you money to have ads attached to your videos. In the last 28 days alone, my YouTube channel has earned me $25,000. The more consistent that you are, the better results you will get.

7. Coaching And Consulting 

If you have expertise in a given area that can add value to people's lives, you may want to consider coaching or consulting. There is a website called Coach.me where you can get paid to be an accountability coach for someone. Your sole responsibility is to hold someone accountable, via Skype or email, for following through on their goals.

Alternatively, you could package your expertise and create online course content to sell through the websites listed below. This is what I did. I started doing 1-on-1 coaching and transitioned to selling online courses. Doing so allowed me to scale my business to where it is today:

• Teachable
• Kajabi

Kindle publishing is still profitable in 2022.

I've been publishing books on Amazon for over 9 years. Over the years I've seen how Amazon has changed and evolved. I've had a lot of success on Amazon. I've created courses and programs that have helped tens of thousands of people make money publishing on Amazon.

I know what is working on Amazon right now and what will continue to work in the future. My goal is to help you build a sustainable Amazon business that lasts for years to come. Nine years ago I was trying to figure out how to make money online. Amazon really appealed to me. It made a lot of sense because it's the biggest online retailer in the world.

Who wouldn't want to be in alignment with a company like that?

Also, people love to buy and shop on Amazon. An Amazon publishing business is recession-proof. Regardless of what happens to the economy, people will continue to read books. On top of that, Amazon books are low-ticket products. People will always be able to afford to buy them.

Publishing on Amazon continues to be one of the best opportunities to get started making money online. I say that because it's a newbie-friendly business. Literally, anyone can do it. If you want to create a solid side income, publishing books is a great option. It also opens up the door to other business models.

A book is a front-end offer.

Every time you publish a book you want to have a marketing strategy in mind. If your customers receive value from your books, they will want to know how else you can help them. Your book is only one part of your business. The goal should be to funnel people into other parts of your business, which in turn, will make you more money.

Let's talk about the steps involved to make money publishing on Amazon in 2021.

Step 1: Identify Your Niche

The first step is to determine which niche you should publish your book on in Amazon. The biggest mistake that people make is that they write books based on what they are interested in, instead of figuring out where the demand is. They end up writing and publishing a book in a niche that has zero demand.

This is why I recommend that people do research and identify what people are searching for on Amazon, and then tailor their book to meet that demand. Go to Amazon and browse the various categories to see which books are selling. Ask yourself, “Are people already buying books on the topic that I'm interested in?”

Answering this question will help you determine the size of the market and how much money you can make. You don't want to spend time writing a book that doesn't sell. 

Step 2: Create Your Title 

Your title has to be enticing. It has to evoke emotion in people to the point where they want to buy your book. If you write a non-fiction book, you want it to provide a benefit to your readers. Examples of benefits that people are searching for online are things like: how to overcome procrastination, how to set goals, or how to manage your time.

The reason why people buy non-fiction books is they believe the book will help them solve a problem. Hence, your job is to help people solve problems at a profit. If you can effectively communicate a benefit, people will be more inclined to buy from you.

Fiction books are a different market altogether. People are buying these books for entertainment. They want to be transported to a different world. Regardless of the kind of book that you publish, strive to create a winning title. Research your competition in the niche that you choose, see what they are doing, and then figure out how you can make your book stand out.

Step 3: Create Your Cover

Your cover is even more important than your title. It is the first thing that people see when they are browsing on Amazon. Similar to YouTube, the first thing that you see is a thumbnail. It's a graphic that gets people's attention. That is what inspires people to watch a video in the first place.

Your book cover has to hook someone. The great thing about a cover is that you can get someone to create it for you relatively inexpensively. If you go to Fiverr.com you can hire a graphic designer to create a cover for you for as low as $5-10.

One of the reasons why I love book publishing is that it's fairly inexpensive compared to other business models. If you want to get started making money online and you don't have a lot of money to invest, publishing on Amazon is a great option.

I suggest that you hire three graphic designers. Give each person a design idea and see which one you like best. The more options, the better. Alternatively, you can test your different book covers on Amazon and see which one converts better.

Step 4: Write Your Book

The great thing about publishing on Amazon is that you don't have to be a professional writer. I've published hundreds of books on Amazon. I can write and I don't mind doing so, but it's not my core skillset. You can write your own books, but the real money in building an Amazon publishing business comes down to working smart, not hard. You want to work on your business, not in your business.

If you want to scale your business, I encourage you to work with other authors or hire ghostwriters to write books for you. Depending on the length of your book, they will give you a price and you will pay them for that service. 

What holds a lot of publishers back from writing is that they have a perfectionistic mentality. If you can relate, it's important that you know that nothing is ever perfect. In fact, the way that you perfect something is to put it out there, get feedback from people, and then improve the book over time.

Step 5: Publish Your Book

Amazon has a platform called, Kindle Direct Publishing. When you sign up for free, you can submit your book. I encourage you to publish a book as both a Kindle and a paperback version. A lot of people only publish Kindle books. In my opinion, this is a big mistake. You are leaving a lot of money on the table if you do this.

Once you have the title, cover and the content of your book, all you have to do is format your book into a different version. Kindle Direct Publishing has a formatting tool inside their platform that can help you get your book formatted properly.

Doing so will increase your reach and the amount of money that you can make from one book. I've published a lot of books that didn't make a lot of money on Kindle but that did really well on paperback.

Your book can be made available in every Amazon marketplace. Typically, a Kindle book sells for less than $10. Amazon will pay you a royalty on every sale. You can charge more money with a paperback book because it has a higher perceived value.

However, there is some expense involved with a paperback book because it's a print-on-demand service. Regardless of what platform you publish your book on, your book will be available for purchase on Amazon within 24 hours.

Step 6: Launch Your Book

A lot of people fail to create a marketing strategy for their book. Instead, they just hope for the best and then wonder why their book doesn't sell. What would happen if Apple came out with the newest iPhone but they didn't build any anticipation around it?

They wouldn't have a successful launch. The same thing goes with a book. You need to come up with a game plan to set yourself and your book up for success. I suggest having your book available for presale.

Get the word out to people early on about when your book will be launched. This is a great way to build up a list of people who want to buy it. Ask people if they will leave you a review. This will give you traction early on. Amazon loves this. In turn, Amazon will give you a boost on their platform because you will be driving a lot of sales to them.

Amazon has some great marketing tools for book publishers. They allow you to do a free promotion for Kindle books. That's very valuable for a few days.

Even though you're not making sales from that, you are getting downloads. These downloads will boost your book and possibly some reviews. Amazon also allows you to offer a limited time discount called a Kindle Countdown Deal on your books.

Step 7: Market Your Book

If you want your book to sell, you need to market and promote it. Today, Amazon has become more competitive. The two ways that publishers market and sell their books on Amazon are through Amazon search or to run Amazon ads. The problem with these two methods is that every other publisher is doing the exact same thing.

Hence, it's hard to stand out. Amazon has provided an opportunity for you to publish, for free, on their platform. They are doing this because they're hoping that you will promote and market your books. In turn, this will funnel more people back to their platform, which will give them more customers.

That's how Amazon makes their money. If you support Amazon, they will rank your books higher and recommend them to other people. I encourage you to learn marketing strategies and skills outside of Amazon. Maybe this means building a blog. If you think about it, people who read books enjoy reading. Those are the same people who read blogs.

This is a great way to get more sales to your Amazon books. This is one of the many marketing strategies that will give you a competitive advantage. Your goal should be to build a business that isn't solely dependent on Amazon. This is the long-term vision and mindset that you want to adopt.

However, they can be prevented if you know what to look for. Preparedness is the key to success. I want to be vulnerable with you and talk about the mistakes that I've made in the past. When I first discovered Internet marketing, I didn't care about doing what I loved or helping anyone. Rather, I merely wanted to get out of pain. I was willing to do anything to make money. I ended up learning from the wrong people. They tempted me with get-rich-quick schemes.

This is a very dangerous mentality to adopt because you risk compromising your values and what is ethical in order to make money. That's exactly what happened to me. I looked for loopholes, gimmicks and tricks. Thankfully, a lot of what I was doing didn't translate into success. When I look back, I realize how desperate I was. I didn't know who I was.

When I started my brand, Project Life Mastery, 8 years ago my mindset shifted entirely. Instead of focusing on making money, I focused on serving, contributing, and adding value to people. When I made this change in my life, I became a millionaire because I made the choice to live on purpose. I continue to do so to this day.

Getting rich should never be your end goal.

Rather, your goal should be freedom; having the ability to do the things that bring your life the most value. Financial success is merely a byproduct of that. When you're starting an online business, you've got to clear on what your values are. More importantly, you can never compromise those values. Within my company, my staff and I engage in quarterly meetings.

We go through the values of the business and rates ourselves, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much we feel that we are living those values. He is an incredibly successful online marketer, online educator and the CEO of Increase Academy. In our interview, we talk about affiliate marketing, sales copy, and strategies that can help you grow your online business. Let's dive in!

Can you share your story with my audience?

In 2013, I learned about Lewis Howes. There is a picture of him on his Facebook page where he is sitting in an infinity pool. At the time, I was working 80 hours per week at a web design agency. Whatever he was doing, I wanted it. I figured that the best way to learn how to do it was to work for him.

At the time, I knew how to build things online but I had no concept of selling or marketing. I was a WordPress guy. That was cool but, long story short, I wasn't living the lifestyle that I wanted. I was dealing with clients non-stop. The overbearing client relationship story wasn't working for me anymore.

I started “stalking” Lewis and his business partner, in a good way.

My intention in doing so was to reach out and ask how I could help them with their website. I was building a base-level connection and adding value. One night his business partner called me. They were doing a launch with a product and everything fell apart. I was able to fix some of their database stuff and figured it out. Long story short, I worked with them for a few years. I also got hired by a few people in San Diego, in particular, Mike Filsaime & Andy Jenkins. These guys are old school marketers.

I learned how to do sales copy and build landing pages, on top of the backend side of marketing.

Eventually, I was able to transition into more of a brokerage standpoint. My niche was helping people who had a lot of distribution and finding great products for them to promote as affiliates. From there, I would come in, build the marketing parts that I learned from working with others, write all the copy and manage the whole thing.

Over the last few years, Ive worked with Tai Lopez and a few others in that world. Today, I'm working more towards monetizing the knowledge that I have, in the form of books and courses. I still do affiliate management but a lot of that is automated now. I've got a team to help me execute that. In hindsight, I did it the hardest way possible.

What would you say is the most important skill that an Internet marketer needs to have?

Copywriting is where 99% of my revenue comes from. I don't tell people that I'm a copywriter because I don't want to just be hired to write copy. My business is based on equity so I get paid when they get results. Writing is the same type of skill as drawing. You've got to practice. Over time, you will get better.

Copy is all about teaching.

Your gut may tell you that it's networkers and people who can work a room. These people are the second best. However, the best salespeople are those who teach. I've taken the principles of teaching and put it into my copy, so much so that eighty percent of my copy is teaching people why their perspective may be wrong.

What are some of the strategies inside your new book that may be helpful for people?

Have you ever gone to a bookstore, flipped through a book and thought, “Where are the steps?” I'm all for the story. Half of my book is about how to put good stories together for marketing. However, the big thing that I want out of the book is actionable information. My book is broken into 12 methods that you can follow to generate content for content marketing or sales page purposes.

What are the best ways to learn copywriting?

The first method in my book is about how to breakdown copy. I always tell people that if they want to learn what attracts people, the hook is the most important part of the copy. You need to learn how to build a connection with your audience and get their attention.

The best way to practice this is to look at people who are paid to do it well.

I will find the content that is getting the most interaction and I will pull out the headline and break it into parts. The beauty of this is that you will have your own format to use later. A headline example that I use in my book is “The man who perfected the laugh track.” If you break it down, it means “The (noun) who perfected the (topic).” The act of examining is all about actively participating and learning. It's about building a collection of data. As you continue up the ladder of mastery, you will get smarter with how you collect and organize the information.

What is your strategy when it comes to promoting an affiliate product?

It's different for every product. However, generally, I like to create five cornerstone pieces of content that are useful, persuasive, and call-to-action based. Usually, it starts off as an email, but then we will take that same email and turn it into a video. Eventually, we will turn it into a Facebook ad as well.

A lot of times we aren't selling something directly in the content.

Rather, we are convincing people to go watch either a sales webinar or a VSL that is designed to sell. We are trying to change a mindset on a topic while introducing the tactical steps for how something works and how someone can buy a product. Most people don't even know what you're selling when you do this until you make it to the last 10% of the VSL or webinar. That protects your brand a lot more because you're not coming across as a sales pitch person.

Do you have any networking tips?

If networking is challenging for you, learn the basics of what human interaction is all about. Go to places where you can be with the people that you want to connect with. Go to events, reach out online and add value. Lastly, become an affiliate for people! That's the easiest way to build connections.

Any general advice for someone who is new to the online marketing world?

If you're in the world of hustling and grinding, take a deep breath and be okay that it may take a little longer than next week to achieve your goal. Put in the work and don't be afraid of it. Hard work is the foundation of anything valuable. If you want to build a sculpture, you've got to chisel. That's the biggest mindset takeaway. Also, identify a skill that you enjoy doing and become an expert at it so that you can help people grow their businesses.

Chip Cooper is an FTC compliance expert.

He developed the FTC Guardian platform in order to help online marketers and entrepreneurs ensure that they are compliant with the ever-changing laws and regulations of the FTC. When you market and sell your products, you have to take into account the legal ramifications of doing so. This is why legal protection for your online business is a must.

I have been personally working with Chip Cooper for the last year now to ensure that my company, Project Life Mastery, is protected. I wanted to pick Chip's brain about the FTC and get the facts so that you know what the FTC policies and best practices are moving forward.

How did you become an Internet attorney?

I've been involved with software companies for years. Once companies started moving from the traditional model of delivering software to selling products and services online, I decided to get involved.

How long have you been working with online business owners?

Beginning in 2009, there was a tsunami of new laws and regulations and very aggressive enforcement of them. People started to listen to me once this happened. In 2014, I got together with Allyn Cutts to form FTC Guardian.

How is the Internet regulated and governed?

You need to understand that the vast majority of products and services marketed online are marketed to consumers. These are people like you and I. There is this underlying assumption by the Federal Trade Commission that the general population of consumers are basically ignorant and easily fooled by unsavoury advertisers.

Because of that concern, the FTC has the preeminent federal regulatory body to protect consumers against scam advertising. With the FTC, there are remedies that do not exist in the normal civil litigation realm. For example, the FTC can appoint a receiver to take over your business.

They can even freeze your bank account and assets.

In fact, it really doesn't matter where the marketer is physically located. As long as they are selling into the United States, they are regulated. It doesn't matter if a company is operating as a Corporate or LLC entity either. The FTC can pierce that entity to go after one's personal assets as well. Hence, there is no trick or silver bullet to avoid FTC regulation. Your only option is to become compliant. The FTC has a lot of power that you don't see in our legal system.

What are the biggest mistakes that you see online marketers make?

One mistake is missing documents that you typically see on a website. The most important one being the privacy policy. The other mistake would be strategies that the advertiser has used without understanding what the rules are.

Let's go back to the privacy policy. This is a very important document. Generally speaking, it's supposed to describe the personal information and other information you collect from people. In particular, why you collect it, how you use it, and how you make it available to others. An important point to take into consideration is that the FTC views the statements and assurances in the privacy policy.

The idea is that the consumer can click on a privacy policy link on a web page if they want to. If they decide that your sharing policies aren't satisfactory, they can decide not to do business with you. The FTC says that these statements and assurances are promises. If you violate those, it's considered to be a deceptive marketing practice.

There is a huge lack of understanding about the fundamentals of advertising.

A lot of people don't view themselves as advertisers. However, if they are making claims about what their products or services will do, they are an advertiser. These types of statements are ad claims.

When you combine expressed and implied claims together, its called the net impression that a consumer reaches. The marketer wants that net impression to say, “I'm in agreement with the call to action.”

However, that claim has to be substantiated by competent and reliable scientific evidence. That's a pretty significant burden. The real question is, “What are the ad claims or do you even know that you're making them?”

If you know what the ad claims are, then you need to know what your substantiation burdens are.

Moreover, what alternatives exist that may not have such a big risk involved in terms of substantiation. It's all about understanding the rules, options, and choices among the various levels of risk. That's what we try to teach our members.

If someone doesn’t have the money to hire a compliance lawyer, what do you suggest they do?

When you're just getting started, the general misconception is that you can fly under the radar. There may be some truth to that, but generally speaking, this isn't the case. In 2014, the FTC started to be less concerned with the big guys and started drilling down on small businesses.

For that reason, you need to protect yourself.

This means you get a lawyer, which can be fairly expensive. Conversely, you find another opportunity to acquire the knowledge, training and documents that you need. That's what FTC Guardian gives you.

If someone doesn’t have the money to hire a compliance lawyer, what do you suggest he/she do?

I highly recommend that someone does business in a corporation or LLC. Generally speaking, it will protect your personal assets from any type of lawsuit, except for the FTC. That is the exception. It's great advice but it's not the silver bullet with respect to the FTC. The corporation is usually the less expensive option.

Are there other agreements or contracts that people should have in place in order to protect themselves from being sued?

The other document that you need to have is some kind of agreement that binds you with your customer. Your customer has various rights and you need to have this contract with them. Also, you need to do this to lock down your right to get paid and how you are supposed to get paid. If you are merely selling something with a shopping cart, that's not binding your customer to the terms and conditions.

It's got to be an enforceable contract.

A lot of people believe that the terms of use that you see linked at the bottom of a page is a binding contract but it's not. It may be clicked on by a visitor, but it probably won't be. There cannot be an enforceable agreement without both sides acknowledging acceptance of it. In the old fashioned non-digital world that action is the signature on a piece of paper. However, in the online world, it's a check box.

Is there anything else that people need to know in terms of being compliant online?

I think one of the biggest things is that there has to be a general understanding of what the FTC is all about and how it works. It starts with understanding an ad claim, what the requirements are, and how testimonials fit into that. Secondly, you need to have a resource that you can go back to so that you can find knowledge on new developments related to the FTC. This is how you will stay current. Once you understad these things, everything else starts making sense.

We tell our members that you can't learn it all in one month.

However, you can get started with the basics and then attend our hangouts. All of a sudden, you are now involved in the rules of the game that you play in. The idea is not to be knowledgeable at my level. Rather, it's about having working knowledge of how everything works.

Any final message that you want to share with people?

Things have changed a lot in the last 5-7 years. In particular, since 2009. This was a big date in regulation history on the Internet. If you are a small business, there appears to be barriers to entry now that didn't exist just a few years ago.

You really need a source to help you stay current and conversant with what is going on. It's happening at such a rapid rate. This is why we believe in our service. Our membership is reasonably priced. Once you're in, you have access to myself and my partner, Allyn Cutts.

Affiliate marketing is a lucrative way to make money online.

Technically speaking, it doesn't cost anything to get started with affiliate marketing. That's the beauty of this business model. First and foremost, affiliate programs are free to join. More importantly, there are so many free platforms that you can create content on, for the sole purpose of promoting your affiliate products. That being said, if you want to do affiliate marketing the right way, there are some expenses that you will need to invest in.

Ideal Assets

When you are first starting your business, I suggest that you take a cost-effective approach. Don't put a lot of money into expenses that won't make a big difference to your business growth at the onset. That being said, I believe that the below assets are ideal if you want to start your affiliate marketing business the right way.

1. Domain Name 

The easiest and most effective way to build a successful affiliate marketing business is to build a brand. A domain name is going to help establish who you are in the affiliate marketing niche.

Think of a website or blog like your very own piece of real estate. If you choose to go with GoDaddy, a domain name will cost you about $10 per year.

With any product that you're promoting, building trust with people is one of the most valuable commodities that you can have. The reality is that people who like, know and trust you will be more likely to buy whatever it is that you're selling or promoting.

2. Web Hosting 

Web hosting gives you the ability to create a blog or website for your affiliate marketing business. For my hosting, I use WordPress, which is a free platform where you can publish your content. The biggest companies in the world use it.

If you use Bluehost, which is what I recommend for beginners, it will cost you $3.95 per month. In addition, it gives you a free domain name for the first year. I use WP Engine, which is very expensive (roughly $1000 per month). However, it's great if you are looking to get a lot of traffic to your website fast.

If you are going to create your own website, you will need a logo. This will cost you anywhere between $5-10 by hiring a designer on Fiverr. I recommend that you order a logo from three different people so that you have options. If you want to spend more money, you can.

I also use a service called, 99 designs. This platform allows you to host a contest where multiple designers can submit their logo ideas to you. However, this will cost you about $300.

3. ClickFunnels 

This is an online sales funnel drop and drag builder that helps you market, sell and deliver your products to people online. ClickFunnels costs $97 per month. One of the great things about this tool is that it's super easy to use.

When it comes to building your business, it should always be your goal to get someone's contact information. It allows you to follow-up with people and builds long-term relationships.

3. AWeber

Your money is in the list. AWeber is one of the top email opt-in services and email marketing/broadcasting tools on the market. This is what I use to build my mailing list and newsletter.

With this tool, you can also build an auto-responder series so that when people opt-in, they are automatically added to a series of e-mails. A lot of people on my email list have bought my products and services multiple times because I did the work to build a raving fan culture.

Optional Assets

If you want to grow your affiliate marketing business faster, there are many optional assets that you can invest in.

Panasonic GH5

If you are publishing YouTube videos, I suggest that you start with whatever you have. Most computers have webcams built into them. I still record videos on my iPhone and the quality is awesome.

Keep in mind that, when it comes to creating content, what matters is you and the message that you're getting across, not the equipment that you use. That being said, a great camera can be worth investing in.

I use the Panasonic GH5 which gives you pro performance and cinematic video. This camera is expensive, valued at $2,200 with the lens. However, as I said, this is something that you could invest in down the road when you are making more money in your business.

Sennheiser EW 112

With a camera, you will need either a built-in microphone or a Lavelier. For recording my video content, I use a wireless mic setup called the Sennheiser EW 112. It costs about $600. This is probably the most flexible wireless microphone system available on the market.

Blue Yeti Microphone

If you don't want to film YouTube videos, but instead are interested in starting a podcast, you will need a microphone. I suggest that you invest in a Blue Yeti microphone. You will also need a platform to host your podcast. I use BuzzSprout which costs $12 per month.

This is how to start affiliate marketing the right way.

Keep in mind that investing more money can help accelerate your business. However, when you are first getting started, you don't need to invest a lot.

You could build a 6-figure affiliate business solely by investing in the ideal assets that I outlined above. This is why I believe that affiliate marketing is the best online business model to start with.

Here are 7 ways to make $10,000 per month online.

1. Create A YouTube Channel

As a YouTuber, I create content that adds value to people so that they can improve their lives. However, you can create a channel around whatever you are passionate about. I make money on YouTube by monetizing my videos.

I've been publishing videos for 7.5 years now. My channel has over 750,000 subscribers and 39 million views. In the last 28 days alone, I've had 7 million minutes of watch time and 900,000 views.

On average, I generate $12,000 per month in revenue from YouTube. However, I want to point out that it takes a lot of time and effort to make money from YouTube.

Having a backend is a much more effective way to make money online. This is why I use my YouTube videos to promote my products and services to people. This is how I make millions of dollars online through my business.

2. Affiliate Marketing 

This is the process by which you promote someone else's product or service and then earn a commission from it. Reviewing other people's products is one of the best ways to attract attention to you.

Going back the YouTube example, let me share a personal example with you. Years ago I reviewed the Vitamix blender as an affiliate product on my YouTube channel. This product is valued at almost $500.

I shared my honest experience of the product. In the description of my video, I provided an affiliate link. If someone wanted to buy it, they could click on the link and I would make a commission from the sale.

I have made over $100,000 dollars simply from promoting the Vitamix blender. How cool is that? This proves that you can actually make more money from promoting a product as an affiliate, versus making money from YouTube ad revenue.

3. Create and Sell Your Own Product

Creating and selling products is a great way to share your expertise and knowledge in a variety of different niches and markets. For example, I created a course called, Morning Ritual Mastery. This is a 7-day video training program that walks people through how to create a morning ritual.

Luckily, there is a huge demand in the marketplace when it comes to morning rituals. This is something to take into account when you are creating a course. Keep in mind that this business model takes a lot of time, energy and resources.

It requires that you first create a course in a secure members area where people can access it and then you need to create the funnel pages. It's a lot of work, but if you have a large audience, this is a great way to make money online.

4. E-commerce

This involves selling physical products on Amazon, Shopify, or on your own e-commerce store. The method for doing this is known as private labeling. The great thing about private labeling is that you don't have to create your own product.

Rather, all you do is find a supplier that is already making a product and you order a certain amount of inventory from that supplier. By putting your own packaging and branding on a product, it automatically makes it your own.

Amazon is one of the biggest online retailers in the world. They have hundreds of millions of customers. My fiancée, Tatiana sells waist trainers on Amazon. She does incredibly well, generating over $100,000 per month in sales.

Today, she primarily sells her products on her website, Luxx Curves. By selling on her own Shopify store, she has more control of her margins, the refund policy, and shipping, to name a few things. However, I encourage you to start selling on Amazon.

Once you have built up a solid brand and audience, then you can transition over to Shopify. That is how you will make a lot more money.

5. Book Publishing

This is an easy and simple way to make money online. Writing a book doesn't cost anything. If you don't want to do the actual writing, you can always hire a ghostwriter to write the book for you.

By doing this, you are merely handling the marketing and publishing side of things. I've published hundreds of books on Amazon. Most of my books are written under different pen names. I take this approach when I'm not the actual author of my books. This is a very common thing to do in the publishing industry.

You can publish books on Amazon via their free Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) account. On average, you will earn a 70% royalty for all Kindle books that you sell.

6. Coaching or Mastermind Events

Coaching is a great model if you aspire to make a direct impact on people's lives. In my own business, I have two coaching programs – Online Business Mastery Accelerator and Life Mastery Accelerator.

Within my programs, I coach and mentor people about how to build an online business and master every aspect of their lives. People may a monthly membership fee to be a part of these programs.

My brother and I created and developed web-based software for Kindle publishers called K Optimizer. Software sells itself because you are saving people time and money. There are also downloadable software and online apps.
