Today I would like to walk you through my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity. This routine allows me to optimize my body, mind, and spirit so that I can perform at my best, every day.

I’m a big believer in the power of rituals. I’ve been doing them since I was 17 years old. I used to struggle with shyness, social anxiety, and depression.

By creating a morning ritual, I was able to recondition my beliefs and transform every area of my life.

The morning is the best time to condition your mindset. Research shows that your mood in the morning affects your productivity all day.

Are you ready to wake up every day, feeling more productive, energized, and happier? My morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity will allow you to make that happen.

Discipline is one of greatest barriers that prevent people from achieving success in life. If you want to build habits that stick, you need to be consistent with them. In the words of Tony Robbins says, “The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”

How you start the day is how you end the day. If you only engage in a habit once in a while, it won’t stick. It’s what you do consistently that makes the difference.

How do you start your mornings?

If you wake up in a reactive state, you will move throughout your entire day feeling stressed and anxious. A lot of people believe that they need a triple espresso as soon as they get out of bed. This way of thinking is counterintuitive.

My morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity provides me with a natural ‘buzz.' It makes me feel unstoppable, without the negative effects that come from over-use of stimulants.

Do you wake up every morning, feeling tired and sluggish, even though you slept for 8 hours? If so, it’s time to start a morning ritual.

If you want to maximize your productivity, you need to spend the first part of your morning taking care of YOU. If you make your job, your partner, or your friends a priority, then you need to commit to making yourself a priority as well.

Just like you train your body at the gym, you need to train your brain every day. I treat myself as if I am a high-performance athlete. I know that if I want to get the most out of myself, I have to create rituals that will allow me to do just that.

In order to make sure that I successfully complete my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity, I create a list and check-off each activity, as I complete it.

The purpose of a checklist is so that I can visually measure my progress as time goes on. If you don’t have a plan for your life and you just move throughout your day aimlessly, then you’re not going to get the most out of it.

Here is my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity:

1. Smile

The first thing that I do the moment that I wake up is smile. When you start your day with gratitude, it shifts your entire perspective. Every day that you are alive is a gift, and you need to treat it as such. Don’t ever take your life for granted.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t feel happy and positive 100% every morning, but by training myself to smile and start the day in an empowering way, I am setting myself up for success.

Research shows that when you smile, neurochemicals and peptides are released, which tricks your body into raising your dopamine; which in turn raises your spirits and calms your nervous system.

2. Drink Water

After you’ve been sleeping for 7-8 hours your body is dehydrated, and your cells crave water. I’ve got a water ionizer that I use which produces high quality, 9.5 alkaline water.

By drinking water first thing in the morning, you kick-start your metabolism, which will give you immediate energy and flush out toxins from your body.

3. Take Supplements

I start off by taking a shot of apple cider vinegar, which is a great bacteria killer. Then, on an empty stomach, I take a digestive enzyme supplement called, Masszymes. I also take a variety of other supplements, like B12 and Vitamin D3.

Supplements like these ensure that I have energy throughout the day, so that I never have to rely on caffeine or sugar. More importantly, engaging in this body ritual ensures that I will experience optimal health and performance, over the long-term.

4. Read A Book

I spend at least 10 minutes every morning reading an inspiring book on my Kindle reader. Don’t start your day by obsessing over social media, or reading negative things on the news. Instead, try feeding your mind with positive information and commit to learning something new.

5. Write in my Journals

After reading a book, I like to write in my Five Minute Journal, a simple exercise that allows me to focus on what is most important for me to accomplish throughout my day.

I also write in my Productivity Planner, which offers a similar process. I write down what my most important task for the day is, what my secondary tasks of importance are, and then determine what my daily productivity score is.

For those of you who are spiritual, I also write in my Christian gratitude journal.

6. Lie Down On My PEMF Mat

A PEMF mat is a portable mat that produces pulsed electromagnetic fields around an individual’s body. I lie on this mat every morning and do my meditation.

The health benefits of PEMF are amazing, some of which include regenerating nerves, reducing stress and fatigue, and eliminating bodily toxins.

I hope you enjoyed learning about my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity! If you want the more in-depth version, that covers all of my rituals, then join my 7-day course, Morning Ritual Mastery.

Rituals have been the secret to my success, and have allowed me to become the person that I am today. Invest in yourself. Your body, mind, and spirit deserve it.

I want to share how you can be more grateful in life. Gratitude is the simple practice of observing and appreciating all of the amazing gifts and blessings in your life.

To have an attitude of gratitude means that you choose to focus on what you have, rather than dwell on what you don’t have. The result? It can improve your physical, mental, and emotional health.

Recent research shows that a daily gratitude practice can lead to increased concentration, optimism, improved sleep quality, and a greater sense of connection to others. Despite these benefits of practicing gratitude, many of us take so many things in our lives for granted.

In the words of William Arthur Mode, “Gratitude can turn common days into Thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” Are you ready to be more grateful in life?

In their search of experiencing the exciting highs of life, many people have lost sight of the reality. Most of life is comprised of a series of small moments.

Instead, they spend their lives pursuing goals like making more money, paying off bills, or attracting a partner. Some people believe that these things will make them feel happy. If you don’t already feel grateful for what you have, how do you expect that you will be happy with more?

If you want to experience true happiness, learn to appreciate the small moments, as they are the ones that will have a lasting impact on your life.

Gratitude is one of the most important rituals that I practice in my daily life. As part of my morning ritual I do a 5 Minute Journal exercise, which inspires me to start and end my day with gratitude. In this journal, there are 3 questions I ask myself every morning:

  1. “What am I grateful for?”
  2. “What would make today great?”
  3. “What is my daily affirmation?”

This exercise primes my brain for happiness. Research shows that a five-minute a day gratitude journal can increase your long-term well being by more than 10 percent, which is the same impact as doubling your income.

Spend a few minutes every morning feeling grateful. When you condition your mind to focus on the good every day, your entire perspective on the world around you will change. The simplest way to feel gratitude is to ask yourself empowering questions.

In his book, “Emotional Time: The Importance of Gratitude” Carl De Wet says that Practicing gratitude daily is important because the intentions you hold for your day influence your day.”

There are so many things to be grateful for every day of our lives. All you need to do is focus on it and feel it. In this moment, what are you grateful for? Life is a series of a thousand tiny miracles. Notice them. This is how to be more grateful in life.

I would like to share with you five techniques to master your monkey mind.

Zen Buddhists used the metaphor of a monkey mind to refer to the tendency for the mind to jump from thought to thought, constantly in motion, without conscious control.

Elizabeth Gilbert once said, “I am burdened with ‘the monkey mind’ – the thoughts that swing from limb to limb, stopping only to scratch themselves, spit, and howl.”

I think we can all agree that one of the most challenging things to master is our mind. A number of years ago the NSF estimated that our brains produce as many as 12,000-50,000 thoughts, per day. Ask yourself, “How many of those thoughts are positive, supportive, and inspiring?”

The mind can be a tool of transformation or destruction, depending on how you choose to use it. Learning how to master your monkey mind is the first step on the path towards life mastery. You need to remember that you have a mind, but YOU are not your mind.  You have the power to separate yourself from your thoughts.

We need to learn how to observe our thoughts but not get attached to them, because when you consciously control your thoughts, you consciously create the future that you desire.

How do we achieve this? A morning ritual is a great way to calm the persistent chatter in your mind, focus on the present, and ease yourself into the day with self-control. I challenge you to practice these five techniques to master your monkey mind:

1. Meditate

Meditation is the most effective technique you can use in order to calm your monkey mind. The latest neuroscience research proves that meditation techniques that have been around for thousands of years have beneficial effects on both your mind and your body (Ricard, Lutz, & Davidson, 2014).

Meditation does not mean that you are void of thoughts. That is merely impossible. Rather, meditation provides you with an opportunity to move beyond thought. When you are present and aware of your thoughts, you become an observer.

Exkhart Tolle once said, “When you recognize that there is a voice in your head that pretends to be you and never stops speaking, you are awakening out of your unconscious identification with the stream of thinking. When you notice the voice, you realize that who you are is not the voice – the thinker – but the one who is aware of it.”

Keep in mind that you don’t have to be a meditation master in order to reap the benefits. Take 5 minutes every day to quiet your mind. Lean into your monkey mind by welcoming the chatter.  Don’t try to block your thoughts, but rather notice them.

2. Express Incantations

What you think, you attract. Affirmations are an amazing way to train your brain for mastery and eliminate negative thinking. If you repeat positive, high vibrational statements on a daily basis, they become new beliefs. However, if you want to create real change in your life, affirmations aren’t enough.

Tony Robbins talks about incantations, which is where you engage your physiology and emotions along with the empowering phrase or affirmation. He states that, “With incantations, not only are you speaking words of empowerment, you are using your body and your voice. You are changing your physiology and changing your state, and this can change everything.”

Think about some affirmations and incantations that support you and your life, and practice them every day as part of your morning ritual.

3. Do Breathing Exercises

Research shows that the average person takes between 17,280 and 23,040 breaths per day (Brown, 2014). We all breathe, but are we doing it with intention? Breathing is something that we take for granted, even though oxygen is vital for our life.

As part of Tony Robbins’ morning ritual, he completes 3 sets of 30 Kapalabhati Pranayama breaths. This powerful and directed breathing centers him so that he is primed for whatever the day brings. Breathing exercises are a simple way to focus your mind, while at the same time achieving a calming sensation throughout your body.

I start my day with a breathing pattern, where I inhale at a count of 5 seconds, hold for the count of 20 seconds, and then exhale at a count of 10 seconds. In the words of Thich Nhat Hanh, “To master our breath is to be in control of our bodies and minds.”

4. Establish A Journaling Practice

Journaling is a great way to get your monkey mind under control. Set aside some time each morning and let it run wild. Express your thoughts and feelings on paper, and don’t hold back. The trick is to not let your thoughts control you. Honour and observe them. Become a voyeur, thank them for stopping by, and then let them go.

Tim Ferriss has an excellent podcast where he talks about learning “How To Cage the Monkey Mind.” He recommends journaling, which he describes as a “brain dump of thoughts, complaints, and insecurities so that it is not caught on repeat for the rest of the day.”

Kitty Klein, Ph.D. at North Carolina State, has done research on the memory benefits of journaling. She found when people journaled about negative things, their memory improved by 11%. Journaling about positive things brought a 4% increase, and general writing increased memory by 2.5% (Seth, 2009). In the words of Christina Baldwin, “Journal writing is a voyage to the interior.” Dive in.

5. Practice Gratitude

Starting your morning with gratitude will change the tune of your entire day. Ask yourself, “What are you grateful for?” Showing and feeling gratitude shifts your focus from a place of lack to one of abundance.

Robert A. Emmons, Ph.D., a leading gratitude researcher, has conducted multiple studies on the link between gratitude and wellbeing. His research confirms that gratitude effectively increases happiness and reduces depression (Morin, 2014).

The Five Minute Journal is a great tool to use to help you focus on the things that you are grateful for.

Take a few moments every day to give thanks for what you have.  Developing an attitude of gratitude will change your life for the better. When you master your monkey mind, you master your life.

I would like to share five ways to adopt an attitude of gratitude.

Gratitude is the key to living a happy and fulfilled life. It is one of the greatest gifts that we can give to ourselves and to others.

The Christmas holidays are synonymous with spending time with family and friends, but unfortunately it can be a very stressful time of year.

Many of us have been socialized to equate love with materialistic gifts, instead of showing gratitude by telling our loved ones how much we appreciate them.

William Ward once said, “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it”.

Unlike presents, gratitude is free, and it won’t drain your brank account.

Christmas only comes around once per year, but gratitude is something that you can experience every day of the year.

Gratitude is one of the most important rituals that I practice in my daily life.

As 2016 comes to a close, it is important that we all take some time to pause, reflect, and be grateful for what this year has taught us.

Here are five ways that you can adopt an attitude of gratitude:

1. Look For The Good

Complaining feels good because it provides us with an outlet to express our anger, but when it becomes a habit, it creates negative mindset.

Pastor Will Bowen wrote the book,  A Complaint Free World: How to Stop Complaining and Start Enjoying the Life You Always Wanted.

His book developed from an experiment where he asked his congregation to form a habit of gratitude by not complaining for 21 consecutive days.

When challenges arise and fear sets in, it can be hard to see the glass half full. However, these are the moments that offer the best opportunities to be grateful.

UC Davis researcher, Robert Emmons, PhD, in his book,  Thanks! How Practicing Gratitude Can Make You Happier says emphatically that being thankful actually amplifies the good.

Simply by reframing a negative situation as an opportunity to learn something new, it can change the way that you experience the world.

In the words of Dr. Wayne Dyer, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”.

2. Write It Down

Research by psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky and others suggests that journaling is more effective if you first make the conscious decision to become happier and more grateful.

Every day, Tony Robbins wakes up and spends 10 minutes in a gratitude ritual.

Every day, as part of my morning routine, I do an exercise called, The Five Minute Journal, designed to inspire the reader to start and end each day with gratitude.

Take five minutes every day to go inward, reflect and write down what you are grateful for.

3. Communicate Your Gratitude

Research indicates that people who express gratitude on a daily basis are generally happier and have an overall more positive sense of wellbeing.

Expressing gratitude is one of the most powerful communication tools at your disposal.

Because we are so consumed with our daily routines, it is easy to take people for granted.

Take a moment and think about the people who have shaped and changed your life for the better. Let them know how much you appreciate them.

This holiday season, start a new tradition.

Instead of giving thanks for someone in the form of a material possession, try communicating to your loved ones, in words, how grateful you are for them.

4. Celebrate the Small Things

Frank Clark once said, “Everyone is trying to accomplish something big, not realizing that life is made up of little things”.

So many people are too busy focusing on achieving and becoming successful, instead of putting things into perspective and realizing just how lucky they are.

Those who only celebrate the big things and the “highs” of life, tend to lose sight of the small things that bring the most joy.

Taking the time each day to reflect on all of the small moments that stood out for you is a ritual that will bring immense joy and fulfillment to your life.

The first thing that I do when I wake up is celebrate.  My entire morning ritual is an act of celebration.

I take the time to nurture my mind, body and soul, before I do anything else.

I show myself appreciation and gratitude by acknowledging the actions that I take that bring me closer to achieving my goals.

5. Surround Yourself with Positive People

Motivational speaker Jim Rohn says, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, including yourself.”

Energy is contagious. If you’re consistently surrounding yourself with people that are negative or have a bad outlook on life, you will begin to feel the same way.

Surround yourself with positive people, who not only help to propel you forward, but that also give you valuable information and feedback in order to help you reach your goals.

Don’t be afraid to invest money, in the form of a mentor or a coach, in order to learn from successful people who emulate qualities that you value.

The more grateful that you are, the happier you will be, and the more positive things that you will attract into your life.

I would like to share with you something that I’ve been doing every single day for the past two years, as part of my morning routine.  This exercise is called, “The Five Minute Journal”.

Using the science of positivity to improve happiness, this journal is structured in such a way that inspires you to start and end each day with gratitude.

You fill out one page/day. At the top of each page, there is an inspiring quote or some sort of action that you commit to doing at the start of each week.

In the journal, there are three questions that you ask yourself every morning: “What are you grateful for?” “What would make today great?” and“What is your daily affirmation?”

I would like to share with you my responses:

#1 “What are you grateful for?”

Today, I put that I am grateful for Gods unconditional love, the self-help industry, and NLP. Gratitude is so important. Every day you want to think about what you are grateful for. Life is a gift, and we need to focus on the good, and appreciate everything that we have.

# 2 – “What would make today great?”

I put recording videos, working-out at the gym, reading and learning, and setting results for the week.

#3 – “What is your daily affirmation?”

I said, “I love my life”, and I say it like I mean it. I force my brain to believe it. It is important that you repeat your affirmations with conviction, passion and emotion. In the evening, you write down three amazing things in the journal that happened during your day.

These are my responses:

  1. I had an awesome team meeting with Lynette and Tyrone
  2. I recorded videos
  3. I facilitated an awesome webinar for my affiliate marketing mastery customers

When you write down amazing things, you celebrate them, which forces you to focus on the good. Lastly, you ask yourself, “How could I have made today better?”  I responded with, “I could have woken up earlier today”. I am a strong believer in the power of rituals. This is another tool to help make your rituals a lot more effective.

The Five Minute Journal is a simple and effective way of increasing your well-being and happiness every day.  Take five minutes every day to invest in yourself. As Neil Patel once said, “Its not about the time that you devote, but rather what you devote to that time that counts”.

Video transcript

Hey, everyone. Stefan here, from ProjectLifeMastery.com. In this video, I'm going to share with you guys something that I do every single day as part of my morning ritual. Something that has been a part of my morning ritual process now for about the last two years. Something that's really made a difference in my life. As you guys know, anything that's really helped me in my life, that's made an impact on me, enhanced my quality of life, I want to share that with you guys, that's my mission, that's what Project Life Mastery is about.

It's something that a lot of people have asked me about, because I've shared it a little bit on my social media, on my Snapchat. It's actually something that I have actually bought for my family as well, my girlfriend, my sister. They benefit and love it as well.  What it is, is called The Five Minute Journal. You might have seen this before, it's basically a journal. I know the founders of the company, they're in a mastermind group that I'm a part of, and it's a journal that basically helps you every single day, takes five minutes, for me, less than five minutes, and you basically fill out one page a day.

At the beginning of the book, it basically explains how it works. How it works, I'm not sure if you can see this, the different basic principles of it, the power of it. You don't need something like this, you could just have your own journal or do this in Evernote, but I like to have a physical journal like this. I use Evernote a lot for my planning and stuff like that. They actually have something called The Productivity Planner as well, I've got that in my office. I use both. I mean, I just like to have the physical version as well, as well as I do more in depth on my computer.

The Five Minute Journal – how I use it

Anyway, every single day you fill out the page, you put in the date. At the top, there's an inspiring quote or there's some sort of action that you'll do for the week. For example, the quote that I have here: “Society is always taken by surprise and any new example of common sense.” That's by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Here's one by Martin Luther King Jr.: “If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” Great quote.

You get a great quote every day, and then there are three questions here to put in what you're grateful for. Okay, three things what you're grateful for. Give you an example, today I put, “I'm grateful for God's love, God's unconditional love. I'm grateful for the self-help industry. I'm grateful for NLP Neuro-linguistic programming.” I actually put the NLP one because I was actually doing some research and catching up on some NLP stuff the other day.

Three things that I'm grateful for. I try to force myself every day to think of new things I'm grateful for. You guys know the power of gratitude. I've been sharing the power of this in my morning ritual videos, how important it is, and my morning ritual mastery program as well, the power of gratitude. Every day you want to think about what you're grateful for. You want to feel it, you want to associate with it. You want to think about the little things that you can be grateful for in your life. You can do this without a book.

I like to write it down and journal it. I remember Lady Gaga, she was on Oprah one time and she was sharing … Because Oprah's got … She writes down in a journal five things every day that she's grateful for. Lady Gaga does it. It's a life-changing thing. I love it for that reason. I just put in real quick three things every single day I'm grateful for.

The next part is, what would make today great? You put in three things. I like the simplicity of it because you don't need to have this big criteria for the day. All you need to just … What are the three top most important things that would make the day great for you? For me, I put today, “Recording videos”, which is what I'm doing right now. “To work out at the gym. To read and to learn.” I'm reading a lot of great books right now. Also, I actually put one more which was, “Set results for the week.” You could put four if you want.

The next part is putting in your daily affirmation. Every day you force yourself to create an affirmation. It could be an affirmation you already have or use every day, or it could be a new one. The one that I put in today was just, “I love my life. I love my life.” I'll usually say it a few times, so I write it in and then I'll say it a few times, and when I say it, I say it like I mean it, like, “I love my life. I love my life!” Like I really do love it.

Even if you don't love your life, say it like you mean it, right? Force your brain to believe it, that you actually love the life that you have. That's it. That's all you do for the morning. It's as simple as that. What you do in the evening time is, for your evening ritual. Here's for the daytime and then here is for the evening time. What you put in for the evening is three amazing things that happened today.

You've got to be grateful for the days that you have

What are three amazing things?  I'm going to fill it out right now. Right now it's getting to evening time, so I'll fill it out. Three amazing things for me that happened today was, I had an awesome team meeting with my operations manager, Lynette, as well as Tyrone. “Awesome team meeting.” It is a really good team meeting because we did a lot of brainstorming. It was actually a lot longer than we normally have it every week too, so we went really deep into some great stuff. I'm really proud of that, happy for that.

Another great thing is just recording the videos. Today I spent the day just recording a bunch of videos which are really good, I think are really going to benefit you guys. I might have already released some that you guys have seen as well, but I always enjoy this and making a difference in this way. “I recorded awesome videos.”  Third thing was, I had an awesome webinar today, that I did for my Affiliate Marketing Mastery members. It was great. We had an awesome turnout for it. It was about over two hours.

Tons of great questions and people shared a lot of gratitude with me as well, and it was just a really great moment to be able to connect and engage with my customers and hear their feedback and their compliments and their praise is always great as well. That was a really great moment that happened today. I'm going to write, “MM webinar.” You're putting those three things, and when you put them in, the amazing things, you actually celebrate it. I'm like, “Wow, that's amazing. I had an amazing day.”

I'm forcing myself to come up with the good for the day that happened. Because every day, no matter how bad you think it is, it's always just your perception, it's only how you're interpreting the events of the day. You might think, “I didn't do anything today, it was a horrible day.” No, there's still great positive things that happened throughout the day that you've got to be grateful for and appreciate. You've got to be grateful for the days that you have.

The last question is, how could I have made today better? How can you make today better? For me, let's see, what could I have done? I think I could have woken up a little bit earlier today. I'm going to put that in, “Wake up a bit earlier.” Yeah, I mean, if there's anything you also want to add to it, you could put that in. It forces you to also think about how you can improve your future days as well. Great process that you go through. I enjoy it. Less than five minutes a day.

Everybody has five minutes for their ritual

You don't need this book. You don't need a journal like this. You can do it in your own journal, but this is only twenty bucks. Twenty bucks for this. It's really high quality too. It's really good. They ship to Canada. They ship, I think, almost everywhere. A lot of people that I know use it as well. If you guys want to check it out as well as The Productivity Planner, I've got a link below that you guys can click on in the description, or you can go to ProjectLifeMastery.com/fiveminutejournal.

Five as in F-I-V-E minute journal. I'm an affiliate for this, so if you decide to purchase through my affiliate link I earn a commission for it. Some people think that I just do this like I'm sharing these things just to make commissions and stuff like that. It's not. The reason why I do this is because people ask me constantly, for me to share these things with people. If you look at my Snapchat, all the messages that I have, people are just constantly asking me, “What are you using? Where can I get this” Or, “Where can I get that?”

That's why I do these videos. I want to share with you guys the things that have benefited me and helped me in my life. I'm not sharing these things just to make a profit. If I can make some money through an affiliate link, you want to support me through that way and buy through a link, great, I appreciate it. It helps support me, it helps support my business, pay my team, and be able to add more value to you guys as well, but that's not the reason why I do it. The reason why I do it is because people ask me constantly for it.

There's always some people that complain and say, “Oh Stefan, you're just trying to make some money off of people.” No, these are things that I legitimately use every day. You come over to my house, if you were to follow me with my rituals, you see it every day on my Snapchat, all that sort of stuff, I use these things every day. I benefit from them, and I don't share anything that I don't personally benefit from and that I don't believe would benefit you as well.

You don't have to, you can use your own journal if you want, but I just wanted to share this with you guys, because I think it will help some of you and just help make the process a little bit easier. If you guys want to check it out, again, there's a link below. If not, that's totally fine as well. I just wanted to share that with you guys because I think it can help some of you, and if not, just remind yourself to be grateful every day and to plan out your day and to have rituals.

You guys know I'm big on rituals. Morning ritual mastery. I really believe in the power of it, guys. The more that you can spend in your rituals, the more it's going to enhance your life. This has just been another tool that you can integrate to help make your rituals a lot better, along with some of the other things that I recommend, these are all things that have helped me and I think will help you as well.
