Life is short, which is why it is so important to enjoy every single moment. Are you living life to the fullest?

It's easy to lose sight of the big picture. Life gets in the way. To-do lists, responsibilities, errands. It isn't your fault. Most of us are pre-programmed to fall into the trap of a worry spiral. We obsess about things that, in the grand scheme of things, don't matter.

Research shows that the average adult spends the equivalent of an hour a day worrying, whether that's obsessing about an unpaid bill or fretting over whether you have locked the front door. Every moment matters. Worrying is a waste of time and energy.

Sometimes it takes adversity or challenges for us to realize how precious life is. Have you ever lost someone that you loved? It can feel like they were here one moment and then gone the next. These are the moments when we realize how short life can be.

There is no guarantee of tomorrow, and we can't hit replay or rewind. If there was ever a moment to do things that matter to you and have gratitude for your life, the time is now. Because life is short, we need to embrace it. In the words of Paulo Coehlo, “One day you will wake up and there won't be any more time to do the things you've always wanted. Do it now.”

Are you ready to learn 8 steps to make sure that you are living life to the fullest?

In the video below I talk about why people get caught up in the illusion of happiness:

Life is short. It is meant to be lived. Are you fully living it?

The sad reality is that a lot of people go through life having never really experienced everything that life has to offer. Why? Because they live in fear. The idea of taking a risk scares them, so instead, they stay in their comfort zones and ignore

If you feel as if you are sleepwalking throughout your life, it's time to wake up and make a change. When we have passed, and someone is speaking at our funeral, do you want to be remembered as someone who lived life to the fullest or someone that hid in the shadows?

Life is short. Let's explore 8 steps to make sure that you are living life to the fullest.

1. Embrace New Opportunities

Conquering fear of any kind requires that we embrace new opportunities and be open to change. Any new opportunity Change isn't easy for people. Staying in one's comfort zone feels a lot safer.

However, that's not where the magic happens.

How would your life change if you started to see problems as opportunities for learning and growth? If you want to experience life fully, you need to seize the day, as scary as it may be.

Opportunity looks and feels different for everyone. One thing that remains the same is that an opportunity provides a platform for us to try new things, test what works and what doesn't, and find ourselves in the process. Nobody wants to live with regret, so make a change, dive into life, and see the world with an open mind.

2. Be Present

When we look too far forward, we miss out on all of the amazing things that are standing in front of us. The present moment is all that we have, so why not slow down and fully embrace the present moment? Here's the problem. People either get stuck living in the past or obsess about the future. As a result, they are unable to focus on the here and now.

In the words of the late great Louise Hay, “The point of power is in the present moment.”

It all comes down to one's perspective on life. Many of us know how valuable it is to live in the present, but why is it so hard to do? Our world encourages to operate in autopilot mode. We may try to be present, but then we tend to fall back into non-stop distractions and stressors.

Neuroscientists have discovered that when we are young we have more novel experiences, which create more vivid memories. As we age, we have less “new” experiences, so it's harder for these memories to stand out in our minds.

I encourage you to try being present more often – with yourself and with others – and watch how your emotional state shifts.

3. Work Hard, Play Hard

In a world that is so focused on achievement, how is it possible to find work-life balance? Is it possible to work hard and play hard at the same time? Queen’s University biology professor Lonnie Aarssen came up with a possible reason for why people feel inclined to “work hard, play hard.”

According to Aarssen, humans experience a “legacy drive” – in which they want to leave their mark on the world – and a “leisure drive.” Both of these drives can help people cope with their own mortality by leaving behind something when we die.

The next time that life feels overwhelming, focus on doing little things that make you happy, whether that's working out, going for a walk in nature, or spending some time with friends. Drop the goals and find space to think less and just be. We all need to enjoy the small moments of life that we tend to take for granted.

4. Don't Take Life So Seriously

The world wants you to take life super seriously. Don't fall into the trap! Every day we are tested with something. However, we always have a choice how we are going to respond. We can either get stressed out, angry, or overwhelmed, or we can learn to be positive, laugh more, and relax into our struggles.

In order to experience true happiness, I think we need to throw our hair back once in awhile and remember how important it is to play and have fun. There is freedom in accepting things as they are and finding the good amidst the bad. Bad things happen, but that's just a part of life.

Elbert Hubbard said it best – “Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.”

5. Live for YOU

You are the author of your life story. Don't give somebody else that much power over your life. What are your dreams and goals? How do you want to be remembered? Every day that we wake up we have a choice – we can follow our hearts and make decisions from that place, or we can follow the crowd.

In his 2005 commencement address at Stanford University, Steve Jobs talked about his experience of being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. In this speech he reminded each of us that life is short:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Don't allow anyone to dim your light or let their opinions and judgments get you down. All that matters is that you can look in the mirror every day and be proud of the image that is staring back at you. That's true happiness.

6. Take Care Of Yourself

Taking the time to take care of your mind, body, and soul isn't selfish. It's necessary. Unfortunately, a lot of people think it is because our culture doesn't reward self-care. We are taught that, if we want to succeed in life, we need to ignore self-care.

In her new book, The Magic of Mojo: The Creative Power Behind Success, Ariana Ayu teaches entrepreneurs and other high-achieving individuals to tap into your mojo for greater personal AND professional success. She believes that the rule of thumb for achieving authentic success is to prioritize self-care.

We know that there is a strong connection between increased burnout and lowered productivity. Imagine how much more businesses would grow if they made it a priority to create a self-care culture, where people were encouraged to take time to nurture themselves.

If you don't honor what you need, how do you expect to live life to the fullest? Creating a ritual of daily self-care is necessary for your health and well-being. When life knocks us down, learning how to love and nurture yourself ourselves is one of the greatest gifts that we can give ourselves.

How do you take care of yourself so that you can experience life to the fullest? The beauty of self-care is that it gives you the opportunity to ask for what you need and do it on your terms.

7. Challenge Negative Self-Talk

Negative self-talk is designed for one purpose only – to prevent us from achieving happiness in life. Examples of negative thoughts include, “I am worthless” or “I'm a failure.” Don't allow that pesky voice inside of your head to tell you that you don't have what it takes to live your best life.

Research shows that we have over 50,000 thoughts per day – the majority of which are automatic and out of conscious awareness, proving that it is so important that we observe our self-talk.  This doesn't mean that we can stop our inner dialogue altogether. However, we can be more aware of what it is telling us so that we can take the steps to change our way of thinking.

The result? A happier and more satisfied life all around.

“Be mindful of your self-talk. It is a conversation with the universe. You are a being, full of infinite possibilities! Focus your mind with positivity and you will have dictated the direction of your journey, your soul, and your being, cascading in infinite abundance.” – Angie Karan

8. Worry Less

We all worry from time to time. However, when it starts to become a bad habit that takes over every decision that we make and prevents us from truly living our lives to the fullest, then we need to make a change. If you are prone to worrying, step back and ask yourself, “How does my worrying benefit my life?”

We need to start asking ourselves difficult questions that prompt us to shift our perspective and see life through a more empowering lens. Let's face it. What we focus on, we attract into our lives. If you are constantly ruminating and worrying about things that are out of your control, you are going to create MORE negative experiences into your life, further preventing you from being present and happy.

We can't take all of our problems away, but we can wake up every day with a grateful heart and look at the bigger picture. As Wayne Dyer said, “When you change the way you look at the things, the things you look at change.” Anyone can turn a negative situation into a positive one.

Life is short. Don't waste any time or energy on things that don't make you happy.

It is your right as a human being to live the life that you love. Don't wait for life to happen to you. Take action and do the things that make you come alive inside. In the words of A.R. Lucas, “If there’s even a slight chance at getting something that will make you happy, risk it. Life’s too short, and happiness is too rare.”

We've all got one life and one life only. At the end of the road, we want to say that we lived it our way. Are you ready to start living life to the fullest? The time is NOW!

Today I would like to walk you through my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity. This routine allows me to optimize my body, mind, and spirit so that I can perform at my best, every day.

I’m a big believer in the power of rituals. I’ve been doing them since I was 17 years old. I used to struggle with shyness, social anxiety, and depression.

By creating a morning ritual, I was able to recondition my beliefs and transform every area of my life.

The morning is the best time to condition your mindset. Research shows that your mood in the morning affects your productivity all day.

Are you ready to wake up every day, feeling more productive, energized, and happier? My morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity will allow you to make that happen.

Discipline is one of greatest barriers that prevent people from achieving success in life. If you want to build habits that stick, you need to be consistent with them. In the words of Tony Robbins says, “The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”

How you start the day is how you end the day. If you only engage in a habit once in a while, it won’t stick. It’s what you do consistently that makes the difference.

How do you start your mornings?

If you wake up in a reactive state, you will move throughout your entire day feeling stressed and anxious. A lot of people believe that they need a triple espresso as soon as they get out of bed. This way of thinking is counterintuitive.

My morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity provides me with a natural ‘buzz.' It makes me feel unstoppable, without the negative effects that come from over-use of stimulants.

Do you wake up every morning, feeling tired and sluggish, even though you slept for 8 hours? If so, it’s time to start a morning ritual.

If you want to maximize your productivity, you need to spend the first part of your morning taking care of YOU. If you make your job, your partner, or your friends a priority, then you need to commit to making yourself a priority as well.

Just like you train your body at the gym, you need to train your brain every day. I treat myself as if I am a high-performance athlete. I know that if I want to get the most out of myself, I have to create rituals that will allow me to do just that.

In order to make sure that I successfully complete my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity, I create a list and check-off each activity, as I complete it.

The purpose of a checklist is so that I can visually measure my progress as time goes on. If you don’t have a plan for your life and you just move throughout your day aimlessly, then you’re not going to get the most out of it.

Here is my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity:

1. Smile

The first thing that I do the moment that I wake up is smile. When you start your day with gratitude, it shifts your entire perspective. Every day that you are alive is a gift, and you need to treat it as such. Don’t ever take your life for granted.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t feel happy and positive 100% every morning, but by training myself to smile and start the day in an empowering way, I am setting myself up for success.

Research shows that when you smile, neurochemicals and peptides are released, which tricks your body into raising your dopamine; which in turn raises your spirits and calms your nervous system.

2. Drink Water

After you’ve been sleeping for 7-8 hours your body is dehydrated, and your cells crave water. I’ve got a water ionizer that I use which produces high quality, 9.5 alkaline water.

By drinking water first thing in the morning, you kick-start your metabolism, which will give you immediate energy and flush out toxins from your body.

3. Take Supplements

I start off by taking a shot of apple cider vinegar, which is a great bacteria killer. Then, on an empty stomach, I take a digestive enzyme supplement called, Masszymes. I also take a variety of other supplements, like B12 and Vitamin D3.

Supplements like these ensure that I have energy throughout the day, so that I never have to rely on caffeine or sugar. More importantly, engaging in this body ritual ensures that I will experience optimal health and performance, over the long-term.

4. Read A Book

I spend at least 10 minutes every morning reading an inspiring book on my Kindle reader. Don’t start your day by obsessing over social media, or reading negative things on the news. Instead, try feeding your mind with positive information and commit to learning something new.

5. Write in my Journals

After reading a book, I like to write in my Five Minute Journal, a simple exercise that allows me to focus on what is most important for me to accomplish throughout my day.

I also write in my Productivity Planner, which offers a similar process. I write down what my most important task for the day is, what my secondary tasks of importance are, and then determine what my daily productivity score is.

For those of you who are spiritual, I also write in my Christian gratitude journal.

6. Lie Down On My PEMF Mat

A PEMF mat is a portable mat that produces pulsed electromagnetic fields around an individual’s body. I lie on this mat every morning and do my meditation.

The health benefits of PEMF are amazing, some of which include regenerating nerves, reducing stress and fatigue, and eliminating bodily toxins.

I hope you enjoyed learning about my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity! If you want the more in-depth version, that covers all of my rituals, then join my 7-day course, Morning Ritual Mastery.

Rituals have been the secret to my success, and have allowed me to become the person that I am today. Invest in yourself. Your body, mind, and spirit deserve it.

How To Avoid Burnout And Overwhelm https://projectlifemastery.com/how-to-avoid-overwhelm/ https://projectlifemastery.com/how-to-avoid-overwhelm/#respond Mon, 14 Aug 2017 14:00:29 +0000 http://projectlifemastery.com/?p=6608 In today’s world, burnout has become the norm. Do you want to know how to avoid overwhelm so that you can master your life?

I would like to share with you how to avoid burnout and overwhelm. Do you ever feel chronically stressed by life’s demands and overwhelmed by the endless list of tasks on your to-do list? If so, you’re not alone.

In today’s demanding and challenging work environments, burnout and overwhelm have become the norm. According to a 2015 Regus Group survey of 22,000 business people across 100 countries, 53% reported that they are closer to burnout than they were just five years ago.

The negative effects of burnout can spill over into all areas of life, if you allow them to. The good news is that you have the power to choose how you will respond to stressors in your life. It all starts with your mindset.

In the words of Maureen Killman, “Stress is not what happens to us. It is our response to what happens, and a response is something that we can choose.” Are you ready to avoid burnout and overwhelm? Are you ready to take back control of your life?

Our attitude towards stress dictates how we respond to tasks, people, and events in our lives. Research shows that if you choose to adopt a chronically anxious, negative attitude, it will repeatedly activate your stress response system.

In short, what you think will happen may really affect you on a physical level. In the words of Norman Peale, “We tend to get what we expect.”

Below are 5 ways to avoid burnout and overwhelm:

1. Focus On Your Purpose

One of the major reasons why so many people burnout is because they aren’t living in alignment with their purpose in life. If you don’t have a strong ‘why’, your energy will dwindle. You need to dig down deep and figure out what it is that motivates you to wake up every day and do what you do.

When you put your purpose into focus and commit to mastering it, you will feel more balanced and fulfilled. I have a purpose behind every action that I take. I found that to be a critical piece in my ability to avoid burnout and overwhelm.

When you do something that you love, you are inspired to do more of it because it makes you feel happy.

2. Take Care of Yourself

In today’s busy world, it’s easy for anyone to become overwhelmed now and then. In order to effectively master the daily stressors of life, it is imperative that you make it a priority to take care of yourself, whether that’s in the form of exercise, meditation, hanging out with friends, meditating, reading, etc.

Stressful triggers occur when our specific needs are neglected on a regular basis. This is where the power of a morning ritual comes into play.

When you take time every morning to honour and cultivate things that bring joy to your life, you will feel calmer and more in control of your emotions. As a result, you will feel unstoppable and better able to take on any challenge that stands in your way success.

3. Do One Thing At A Time

It may seem counterintuitive, but in the midst of stressful experiences, we can actually achieve more by slowing down. When you are constantly in a rush, it is easier to make mistakes, which causes increased levels of stress, resulting in burnout and overwhelm.

Conversely, when we are hyper-focused on one thing at a time, we have more clarity, and in turn are more productive. The next time that you feel overwhelmed, take a step back and remember that speed doesn’t always equate with success. Learn to enjoy the process and be more mindful.

4. Ask For Help

In our desire to ‘do it all’, we end up overwhelming ourselves in the process. Research shows that the number of people who say they have no one with whom they can discuss important matters has nearly tripled in the past two and a half decades.

If you want to avoid burnout and overwhelm, it’s important to reach out for help from others — whether that’s from a spouse, a friend, a mentor, or a colleague. Doing so will provide you with a fresh perspective, and an ear to listen to when life’s stressors become too much to bear on your own.

In the words of Les Brown, “Ask for help. Not because you are weak, but because you want to remain strong.”

5. Adopt A Growth Mindset

If you want to master stress, you need to learn how to become friends with it. In her latest book, The Upside of Stress: Why Stress Is Good for You, and How to Get Good at It, Kelly McGonigal uses cutting-edge research on the correlation between resilience and mindset to challenge how we think about stress, and how we experience it.

The next time that you feel the physical sensations associated with burnout coming on, remind yourself that this is your body’s natural way of preparing for a challenge. You are more than capable of handling anything and everything.

I hope these insights on how to avoid burnout and overwhelm have inspired you to take back control of your life and rid yourself of burnout once and for all. What will you do today in order to avoid burnout?
