What are your limiting beliefs?

I am not good enough. I'll never find love. I don't deserve success. Making money is difficult. It's too late to pursue my dreams.

We all have limiting beliefs – those nagging disempowering thoughts that creep up on us at the worst possible time. Their sole purpose is to create so much fear, to the point where we take no action and remain stuck in one place.

Limiting beliefs are thoughts, opinions that one believes to be the absolute truth. Here's the thing… a lot of your limiting beliefs aren't even yours. We create beliefs in our childhood, based on behaviors that we learn from our parents. As we get older, we take on these beliefs as our own. They become a part of our identity. As a result, we don't think to question whether or not these beliefs are true.

Just because you believe something doesn't necessarily mean that it's true. Unfortunately, a lot of people go to great lengths to convince themselves otherwise. In turn, their beliefs turn into self-fulfilling prophecies and impact how they think, act, and feel. When we experience painful events, we attach meanings to those events.

If those meanings are negative, so too will our beliefs about who we are and what is possible. In turn, we will create mental blocks that keep us stuck in the past.

Here's an example to prove this point.

If you believe that you'll never meet a partner because you have social anxiety, naturally you will be less inclined to go out and spark up conversations with new people. In turn, the fewer connections you make, the more you will self-isolate, and the worse your social anxiety will become. Limiting beliefs only serve to sabotage your well-being, making you feel like a victim of your circumstances.

This is why it's so important that you challenge your limiting beliefs. Be willing to look at your beliefs with an open mind. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is this belief true?
  • What evidence do I have that proves that this belief is false?
  • Have I always believed this?
  • What triggers prompt this belief to come up?
  • Who in my family also shares this belief?

Once you have enough evidence to prove that your limiting beliefs are not true, you can create more empowering beliefs that replace the disempowering ones. The best way to change negative thinking is to reframe how you think about something.

This is known as “cognitive reframing.”

The goal of this approach is to counter negative thoughts with positive thoughts using the “Yes, But” technique. For example, “Yes, it is true that I haven't found a partner yet, but I am currently doing the inner work to become the best version of myself so that I can call in my dream person.” The next step is to take action and start practicing your new beliefs.

If you avoid this step, you will only fall back into old patterns of negative thinking. Remember that what you focus on, grows.  If you want a life that is filled with abundance, happiness, and success, make sure that your thoughts are congruent with those desires.

This is how to eliminate your limiting beliefs and become truly free.

I believe that all breakthroughs in life start with a change in beliefs. When you change your beliefs, you change the course of your entire journey. Your psychology is the chokehold of your success. You can't take the next big step until you master your mindset and upgrade your thinking.

Tony Robbins once said: “The only thing that’s keeping you from getting what you want is the story you keep telling yourself.”

What belief are you telling yourself that is limiting you from becoming the person you desire to be? You have the opportunity to rewrite your story and reprogram your thoughts. Choose to be the hero of your life story. How will your first chapter read?

Let's talk about the psychology of success.

When you ask successful people what it takes to be successful they always talk about mindset. At the end of the day, mindset is everything. Your beliefs and values determine every single decision that you make in life.

If you think that you deserve success, then you will do whatever is necessary to become successful. Conversely, if you think that you're a failure, then you will create opportunities that set you up to fail.

What you focus on, expands. Where people get stuck is that they allow their limiting beliefs to determine who they are. In effect, they sabotage their success without even realizing it. If you depend on old patterns of thinking that disempower you, you will never be able to change your life.

You will be a victim of your mental programming. The first step in creating the life you desire is recognizing the power of your beliefs. The beliefs that shape your decisions, actions, and destiny. Once you have this awareness, you give yourself the power to reprogram disempowering beliefs into empowering ones.

Let me give you an example that reflects the power of beliefs.

Time and time again I see a lot of people pursuing success, with the intent to find the strategy that they can take action on. Unfortunately, many of them fail to take action because they are at the mercy of their limiting beliefs. Success is not an action that you take.

Success is an inner game.

Your psychology determines 80% of your success. Only 20% is a strategy. It doesn't matter what you want to accomplish in life. If the foundation is ridden with self-doubt and uncertainty, you're setting yourself up for failure.

You can have an unshakeable desire to be successful, but if you don't believe that success is possible for you, you won't take action. Even worse, you will find a million and one ways to self-sabotage your success.

Many of the success principles that I've applied in my life I've learned from my mentor, Tony Robbins. He has an incredible 6-day event called Date with Destiny which I've attended three times now.

Inside this blog, I am going to share with you some of the principles that he teaches at his event. If you have the desire to go deeper with this information, I highly recommend that you put it on your bucket list to attend his next event! I'm also going to share with you snippets of knowledge that I learned from the following books:

How To Master Your Inner Game

The following three factors make for success in whatever path you decide to embark on.

1. Values

Your values are what you believe is important to you and your life. Each of us values different things. Some examples of core values include security, family, growth, adventure, and community. What core values do you live by?

What you value will determine the kinds of decisions that you make. Knowing what you value means having an understanding of who you are and what you want. Not surprisingly, people with different values will see the world from a different lens.

To be successful in life you have to be someone who values success. There are two types of values – towards values and away from values. Towards values are the emotional states that you're trying to move towards.

Conversely, away from values are emotional states that you are trying to avoid, like rejection or loneliness. Each of us has a hierarchy of what is more important to us to avoid. Below is an example of someone's hierarchy of towards values and away from values.

Towards values:

  • Love
  • Security
  • Fun and adventure
  • Comfort
  • Success
  • Freedom
  • Happiness
  • Health
  • Honesty and integrity

What are the benefits of this person having values like these in this specific order? Well, someone who values love above all else will most likely have close connections with people. Also, this person will give love unconditionally and may feel less lonely because they will make friendships and romantic relationships a top priority.

Conversely, what are some of the conflicts that could arise if someone values love more than anything else?

When it comes to giving love, there is always a risk. You can get hurt by people. Also, this person may be someone who people pleases. They may sacrifice their security and health to make sure that others' feel loved by them.

If this person has the desire to create success but views security and comfort as higher up on their list of values, they will be less likely to take risks. If you want to grow and become more, you have to be willing to risk your security.

Early on in my entrepreneurial journey, I wanted success so badly that I was willing to sacrifice social time if it meant moving the needle forward in my business.

There was a time when I wasn't achieving the results I wanted, so I kept making success more and more important. It came with a huge cost to my social life, romantic relationships, and overall level of happiness.

However, I knew that it was necessary for that stage of my life.

I was willing to endure pain in the short-term because I had a clear vision for my life. Reflecting upon the above example, you can see how decisions are made subconsciously, based on the hierarchy of someone's values.

Away From Values:

  • Rejection
  • Unworthiness
  • Failure
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Depression
  • Humiliation
  • Anger
  • Loneliness
  • Shame and guilt

This person wants to be in love, above all else, but they are trying to avoid rejection. They are probably not going to be all-in when it comes to a romantic relationship. Their fear will overpower their desire for intimacy.

On the other hand, this person may stay in a toxic relationship for too long because they are afraid to be rejected by their partner. Also, their fear of failure and unworthiness will greatly reduce the likelihood that they achieve success in life. There is no success without failure.

This person may desire success and take action towards it when the circumstances are right (security and comfort), but they won't succeed on a big scale. Eventually, they will stop trying because the process will be too painful for them.

2. Beliefs

When it comes to your belief systems, there are two different types – global beliefs and rules. A global belief is a generalized belief. For example, “I am successful” “Americans are…” Life is”…

We have both empowering and disempowering beliefs. Empowering ones give you energy. They lead you to a better quality of life. Conversely, disempowering beliefs suck the energy from you and lead you to create even more disempowering beliefs.

For example, if you believe that life is constantly working against you, you will attract more bad experiences into your existence. Your global beliefs will determine your behavior and your success in life.

The second type of belief is rules. These are beliefs that you have about what has to happen for you to feel a certain way. Your values determine your rules.

One person may believe that they need to make millions of dollars every year and be respected by thousands of people to feel successful. The chances that this person will feel successful is not likely unless they meet each of their rules.

On the other hand, another person may say that all they need to feel successful is to reflect upon their resilience and the adversities in life that they've been able to overcome.

It will be a lot easier for this person to believe in their value versus someone who has unrealistic expectations of themselves. By making it easier for yourself to feel successful, you will naturally attract more success into your life.

3. Emotional State

A lot of people are victims of their emotions. They don't believe that they are in control of how they feel. In reality, you can be the master of your emotions. Even better, you change your emotional state instantly by focusing on something that you feel grateful for.

Whether or not this empowering state is sustainable will be based on your values and your beliefs. One of the best ways to condition your emotional state is by creating an empowering morning ritual. Your emotions are like muscles. The more that you challenge them, the stronger you feel, the more successful that you become.

If you can master the inner game, success is yours for the taking!

Get real with yourself and reflect upon where you're falling short in your life. Is your current model of the world serving your highest self? If not, it's time to take action to change what is no longer working. Everything starts and ends in your mind. When you change your beliefs, you change your life.

How do you stop comparing yourself to others?

This is a question that one of the members in my Life Mastery Accelerator program recently asked me.

The problem is that we live in a digital world where it's become the norm to become an observer of other peoples' lives.

A study found that Facebook use was associated with lower self-esteem, poorer mental health, and greater body shame. In fact, those that quit Facebook instantly experienced a boost in life satisfaction and positivity.

If you feel like your life isn't measuring up to your peers, keep reading! I'm going to show how to stop comparing yourself to others.

Comparing yourself to others is normal.

At some point in your life, you will compare yourself to other people. When it feels like you are farther behind others, it's easy to compare. However, you are wasting time if all you are doing is focusing on other people's lives at the expense of your own.

The trick is learning how to use comparison as a tool for growth and motivation. Comparing yourself to people whom you admire and aspire to become is a good thing.

In their book, Friend and Foe: When To Cooperate, When To Compete, and How To Succeed at Both, Adam Galinsky and Maurice Schweitzer suggest that social comparison is a natural human tendency. Rather than being hardwired to compete or cooperate, we have evolved to do both. The goal is to learn how to strike the right balance between these two forces so that you can get more of whatever it is that you want in life.

If you want to stop comparing yourself to others, the first thing you need to do is figure out the root cause of this behavior. Oftentimes, this comes from an over-valuing of the human need for significance. If the only way that you evaluate your worth is by way of social comparison, you are setting yourself up for a lifetime of disappointment.

There will always be someone that is farther ahead than you. In turn, this will cause you to feel like you are falling behind. With this mindset, you won't be able to move forward with life. You will always feel stuck in one place. I think we can all agree that this doesn't feel good.

The problem is that we live in a society that feeds off of our need for significance.

We are sold, and buy into the idea, that we aren't enough. In effect, we are programmed to be dissatisfied with who we are. Research has found that comparing breeds feelings of envy, low-self confidence, and depression.

The second best way to stop comparing yourself to others is to start giving more weight to other human needs. Focus on needs that have a bigger positive impact than negative. For example, there is no downside to focusing on the need for growth, contribution or love. In fact, by being a giver, people will make you significant without having to ask for it.

Lastly, you could always do a digital detox. I would argue that this is only a bandaid solution to a bigger problem. However, it will give you the space to start focusing on your own life instead of obsessing about the lives of others.

Are you ready to stop comparing yourself to others?

When you stop comparing yourself to others, you start focusing on what is working well in your life. In the words of Lecrae, “Stop comparing yourself to others. You have your own race to run. Finish well.” You are more than enough and you are doing the best that you can with what you have. Don't forget it.

Your model of the world guides your perceptions and behaviors.

In Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) the term, ‘model of the world’ means an individual’s beliefs and values, filters, desires, expectations, experiences, and learnings about the world. This is like a cognitive GPS from which you interpret situations and navigate your way throughout the world.

Have you ever had an experience with someone where you've have had a difference of opinion? This is because you have a different mental model of the world than others. Based on your experiences in life, you create belief systems about yourself and others. If those experiences are negative, this can result in overgeneralizing.

Psychologists use the term “cognitive distortions” to describe irrational, inflated thoughts, or beliefs that distort a person’s perception of reality, usually in a negative way. Naturally, you will feel inclined to trust what your brain tells you. However, there are some situations where you should second guess what it's telling you.

Your brain is a deletion tool. On a regular basis, it is deleting 99% of what you could be taking in around you. The brain can only focus on so many things at once. If you are unhappy with your life, it is most likely because you are fixating on one thing. By doing so, you are deleting all of the things that are happening in the present moment.

There are so many things to be grateful for.

Do you believe that you can choose to feel good at any moment? When you experience positive emotions, you create more positive generalizations that will serve your model of the world. Abraham Hicks said it best – “Let your dominant intent be to feel good… as you practice it, the Universe, who has been watching you practice, will give you constant opportunities to express it. So that your life just gets better and better and better.”

Unfortunately, we are conditioned to react to what's happening in a given moment. In turn, we end up associating with the feelings that accompany that experience. When these feelings aren't positive, it's easy to generate stories about ourselves and others.

How would it feel if you could choose to feel good, despite what is happening around and inside of you? This doesn't mean that you have to ignore your problems. Instead, you are choosing to consciously create a reality that you want. Make it a priority to continually challenge your belief systems.

If you allow a single worldview to dominate your thinking, you will become close-minded. This is a great way to distort your perception of reality and trap you in a perpetual state of indifference. As the common proverb says, “If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” However, when you make the effort to continuously update your mental models, you reprogram your mind for success.

Are you ready to take charge of your brain?

If your mental model of the world isn't serving you, it's time to make a change. All beliefs are learned, which means that they can be unlearned.

In the words of the late great, Wayne Dyer, “If you change the way that you look at things, the things you look at change. Are you ready to change your model of the world?

When you know how to stop negative thoughts, you feel more in control of every area of your life.

Do you ever feel as if something is holding you back in life? Almost as if there is an invisible weight that is getting in your way of success? Welcome to the power of negative thoughts.

Overcoming negative thoughts is one of the biggest challenges that people face. Limiting beliefs are the result of unconscious conditioning that usually manifests themselves at an early age. They are comprised of the assumptions that we make about ourselves, others and how the world should be.

Once you identify what your limiting beliefs are, you can then take charge to replace them with positive ones. Whether or not you believe it, you are in control of your thoughts. Thoughts become things, so you need to be conscious of what you think about on a daily basis.

In the words of Ann Bradford, “Tell the negative committee that meets inside your head to sit down and shut up.” Are you ready to learn how to stop negative thoughts from controlling your life?

In the video below I talk about the power of limiting beliefs and how to stop negative thoughts.

In his book, The Happiness Trap, author Russ Harris says that 80% of everyone's thoughts contain some sort of negative content.

The problem isn't that we have negative thoughts. Rather, it's that we actually believe that our thoughts are true. That's when we get into trouble, and why we need to learn how to stop negative thoughts.

Are your beliefs limiting you from living a happy and fulfilled life? If so, I've got great news. You can change your story at any moment.

We all have negative thoughts that pop into our heads from time to time. Here are some quotes about negative thoughts that highlight how powerful negativity can be.

“Your day was never bad. If you think you had a bad day, check your mindset!” ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

“When we allow negative messages to fester in our head, they take on a life of their own.” ~ Lolly Daskal,

“Believing in negative thoughts is the single greatest obstruction to success.” ~ Charles F. Glassman

Are you ready to stop intrusive thoughts from getting in your way of living up to your full potential?

When you know how to stop negative thoughts, your world becomes brighter.

You don't need to spend one more day allowing negative self-talk to dictate how you feel and move throughout your day.

What if I told you that you could actually stop your negative thoughts before they even happened?

Oftentimes, negative thinking comes with warning signs that take the form of quirky behaviors that we may not even be aware of. Take a moment and think about what happens to your mind and body when your inner critic starts to act up.

Do you start to binge eat? Do you fidget? Do you drink a lot of coffee? Do you get agitated or find that you are unable to concentrate?

Once you have an awareness of these behaviors and are able to identify when these triggers occur, you will know how to stop negative thoughts dead in their tracks and take back control of your day. When you change your thoughts, you change your life.

In the words of Tony Robbins, “Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.”

Let's explore 6 techniques for how to stop negative thoughts from occupying your mind and controlling your life.

1. Recite Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations are one of the most effective ways to improve your attitude by replacing a negative, intrusive thought with a more positive one. As part of my morning ritual, every day I recite affirmations out loud to myself, like “I am strong” or “I am in control of my life.”

The beauty of positive affirmations is that, when practiced on a consistent basis, they can counteract the negative thoughts that play out in your mind, thereby enabling you to feel more in control of your life.

You need to ensure that you choose the right affirmations for the intentions that you want to manifest. When practicing affirmations, I suggest that you look in the mirror and recite them out loud. By doing this, it's amazing how fast your mood can improve.

The next time that you feel an anxious thought coming your way, say an affirmation out loud to yourself. This is how to stop negative thoughts right away. By redirecting your thoughts and imprinting positive messages in your mind, over time those negative thoughts will become few and far between.

2. Express Your Negative Thoughts On Paper

Oftentimes we bottle up our emotions inside and don't express how we feel. Journaling is a great way to get your negative thoughts on paper and express how you feel.

Be specific. What emotions are you experiencing that is preventing you from living your best life? What actions do you need to take in order to release this negativity and feel more positive?

You can either keep your journal and reflect upon it, or you can destroy it, as a symbol of your commitment to removing negative thoughts from your mind once and for all.

This idea is supported by a recent Ohio State University study, where a group of people were asked to write down negative thoughts on slips of paper and then later throw the papers in the trash. Another group was asked to do the same thing, except keep the papers with them.

The results? Researchers discovered that throwing out a negative thought literally helps discard the thought mentally.

The point of writing down your negative thoughts on paper is to be a witness to them so that you can analyze why they are are coming up. Once you know why then you will feel empowered to take action.

3. Surround Yourself With Positive People

The reality is that who you spend time with is who you become. Based on this line of thinking, if you hang out with negative people who are drama queens and energy vampires, you will end up modeling their behavior.

Negative energy is draining. It affects every area of our lives. Research has shown that people who cultivate negative energy experience more stress, more sickness and experience less opportunity over the course of their lives than those who choose to live positively.

It is extremely difficult to become positive when the people around you don't operate in a high vibe state. Step back and ask yourself, “Are my friends uplifting me or bringing me down?” If it's the latter, it's time to find new friends.

Cutting out the negative people in your life is one of the most effective ways for how to stop negative thoughts before they even start. Make room for positivity. A solid group of positive friends can inspire you to achieve your goals and dreams.

4. Don't Play The Victim

When negative things happen it can be easy to fall into victim mode. When people play the victim game, they blame others and the world for their problems. When we engage in self-pity all we see are problems. From this place, negativity breeds like wildfire, and there is no hope of finding a silver lining.

Yes, life isn't always fair. Bad things happen, but it's our responsibility to rise above our circumstances and become the CEO of our lives. Do you want to be the victim or the hero of your story?

When you choose to take responsibility for your life, it immediately shifts your mindset from one that is disempowering to one that is empowering. You start looking for the positive, instead of dwelling on the negative.

In the words of Marcus Aurelius, “Reject your sense of injury and the injury itself disappears.”

5. Adopt An Attitude Of Gratitude

Adopting an attitude of gratitude is a great way to silence your inner critic. It forces you to focus on what you already have, instead of dwell on what you don't have.

People that aren't able to appreciate all of the blessings that life brings aren't able to live from a place of abundance. If you feel as if you are constantly lacking something, your attitude will follow suit.

It is impossible to be grateful and negative at the same time. Gratitude is infectious, so once you start appreciating your life, people start to pick up on it, and it creates a beautiful synchronicity in your relationships with others.

I encourage you to practice gratitude on a daily basis. Wake up and think about how lucky you are to be alive, to breathe the fresh air, to walk, to see, to hear. It's the simple things that many of us take for granted that mean the most. Adopting this mindset will make your life more fulfilling and positive.

6. Don't Take Life So Seriously

Our busy lives, long to-do lists, and crazy work schedules can feel all-consuming at times, making us feel like we are on auto-pilot. Don't forget how important it is to relax, laugh, smile, and not take life so seriously.

Becoming more positive means giving yourself a break, celebrating your accomplishments on a regular basis, and letting yourself off the hook when you mess up. Mistakes happen.

Life is so short. Why spend it being serious all the time? Lighten up and enjoy every day to the fullest!

When you can learn how to laugh at yourself and not become so consumed with doing everything the right way, you will become lighter and happier. Work hard, but make sure that you play even harder.

These 6 techniques are the best ways for overcoming automatic negative thoughts.

Negative thinking can impact every effect on our lives if we allow it to. Are you ready to free yourself from negativity? If so, I encourage you to take action and commit to reconditioning your beliefs. Your thoughts create your reality, so focus your attention on the life that you want to create.

Lao Tzu said it best:

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habit.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

Keep in mind that none of us are superhuman, which means that there will be moments when our minds will get the best of us. When this happens, acknowledge your inner critic, thank it for stopping by and attempting to get you down, and then walk the other way. This is the best way

You are more than your thoughts. Within you resides a vortex of unlimited possibilities that are just waiting to be shared with the world. It's time to say no to negativity once and for all. Are you ready to put yourself in the driver's seat of your life?

Positive thinking has the power to transform your entire life.

The human mind is the most powerful tool for achieving your goals and dreams in life.  It can be your friend or your foe. Unfortunately, a lot of people fall into a negative thinking trap, which prevents them from achieving success.

Are your beliefs limiting you?

You are in control of what it is that you think about. This means that you have the ability to create your life, simply by thinking positive and empowering thoughts. Given that this is true, imagine how your life could change if you shifted your thinking?

The Dalai Lama said it best – “See the positive side, the potential, and make an effort.” When you think positively, you feel better and live a more stress-free life. It's a win-win. Are you ready to learn some powerful affirmations for positive thinking?

The best technique for harnessing the power of your mind is through affirmations of positive thinking. These high vibe mantras will help you eliminate and recondition negative thought patterns that are holding you back from experiencing a happy and fulfilling life.

Positive thinking is the key to success.

The most high-performing successful people all have one trait in common. They harness the power of positive thinking. Because they have positive self-concepts, they know who they are and what they are capable of achieving.

The question is, “What is positive thinking?”

Positive thinking is an attitude that looks for the possibilities in life. People that are positive believe in themselves and are always looking for the most favorable outcomes, even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Positive thoughts don't just make you feel happier, they also create real value in your life. The benefits of positive thinking have been supported by a growing body of research that shows practicing affirmations can actually bolster people’s feelings of self-worth and make them respond more constructively to threats. These findings prove that affirmations work.

I have been practicing affirmations for positive thinking as part of my morning ritual since I was 17 years old. They have helped me transform my belief system from one that was disempowering to one that is empowering. My morning ritual is my favorite part of the day.

Every day I write down positive thinking quotes, sayings, and affirmations on cards, and I say them out loud to myself. As part of this process, I really think about what these affirmations mean and I go deep with them. There is a lot of power that comes from speaking affirmations out loud to yourself.

Tony Robbins is a big believer in the power of incantations, which he says are even more powerful than affirmations. Incantations allow you to engage your physiology and harness the power of your emotions with each empowering phrase or quote that you say out loud.

Words are powerful. The things that you say to yourself have an emotional charge to them. How do you speak to yourself? Oftentimes, we get stuck in habitual negative phrases, whether that's internally or out loud, that end up affecting every area of our lives.

If we don't do the work to silence our inner self-critic, he or she will take over, thereby limiting us from fulfilling our potential.

Do you find it hard to be positive all the time? If so, you aren't alone. We all have bad days where we are in a negative mood or feeling down. I definitely have these moments. But when I pull upon my affirmations for positive thinking, I am able to snap out of this reactive state and train my brain to be more optimistic. When I do this, my entire day changes.

A Harvard research study found that people can increase their strength, just by thinking about doing something. When it comes to understanding the science behind our thoughts, these findings are hugely important. They prove that we have the power to change our lives, merely by changing our thoughts.

I would like to share with you some affirmations for positive thinking that can enhance your day. I like to jump up and down on my rebounder in the morning and say these things. When I've finished this part of my morning ritual, I feel more empowered, confident and unstoppable than ever before.

  • I can feel amazing, just by deciding to.
  • I don't need a reason to feel good.
  • Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.
  • This too shall pass.
  • Use me, Lord.
  • In order to earn more, I must learn more.
  • I control how I feel.
  • I always focus on and find the good in everything.
  • Life doesn't happen to me, it happens for me.
  • Everything happens for a reason and a purpose, and it serves me.
  • Strength doesn't come from physical capacity, it comes from an abdominal will.
  • At any moment I need to be willing to sacrifice what I am, for who I could become.
  • I would rather have a mind opened by wonder than one closed by belief.

There is so much wisdom that can be found in these positive thinking quotes, and that is why they are so valuable, especially when you speak them with passion. Words create your future.

You have the power to rewire your brain for positive thinking. The best place to start is by speaking up, eliminating negative thought patterns, and thinking positively every day!

Now that I've shared some of my favorite affirmations, let's dive into some other positive thinking exercises that you can implement into your daily life that will allow you to further level up your optimism.

If you struggle to stay positive on a consistent basis, these 4 exercises will help you stay on track when negative thoughts pop into your head.

1. Breathe Deeply

Have you ever thought about how you breathe? Most likely not, because breathing is something that we do unconsciously. Unfortunately, many people don't breathe properly.

Think about a time when you've felt stressed and you went into panic mode. In this state, it's easy to feel short of breath.  The key is to practice deep breathing. As you draw in a deep breath, expand your stomach. Doing so will allow the air to move all the way up your diaphragm.

There is an old adage that says, “Where the breath goes, the mind follows.” If your breath is shallow, you may be experiencing negative thoughts. When you focus more on the quality of your breath, you won't have time to focus on ruminative thoughts.

The next time that you are experiencing stress, I encourage you to try slowing your breath down, which will help to slow your mind down, resulting in a happier and calmer state of mind.

2. Be Grateful

Practicing gratitude is one of the most powerful and simple practices that you can engage in to boost your happiness and appreciate all of the amazing gifts that life brings with it.

It's easy to get lost in worry and forget about the big picture. Think about how lucky you are to be alive.

Even when life gets hard, do your best to find the silver lining. What are you grateful for? Start noticing life's miracles. They are everywhere.

When you adopt an attitude of gratitude, it means that you are making the choice to focus on what you already have, rather than dwell on what you don't have. This is the secret to creating a positive mindset.

3. Let Go Of The Past

The only way that you can truly embody positive thinking is by letting go of the negativity of the past. Pain and sadness can affect every fiber of our being, leaving us feeling depleted if we allow it to.

What are you holding onto that is preventing you from living in the present moment and feeling free to move forward with a positive outlook towards the future?

We can't change the past. All that we can do is forgive ourselves and others, learn from our mistakes, and let go of the negative emotions that are sucking away our energy. Letting go of the past will allow you to live a happier life that is free from negativity.

How would your life change if you were able to live in the present moment?

4. Celebrate Yourself

We tend to get so caught up in celebrating others, that we forget about ourselves. You deserve to be celebrated for all of your achievements, every single day.

How often do you do something nice for yourself?

We spend way too much time getting down on ourselves about the things that we could have done better, or the mistakes that we made. STOP.

Yes, life can be really challenging sometimes, leaving us feeling stressed and overwhelmed. However, during these times, you need to look out for #1 and take care of yourself. Not only will celebrating how far you have come make you feel more grateful, it will also elevate your positivity.

When you focus on the positive aspects of life, it trains your brain to look for the good, in yourself and in the world at large. This simple practice has the power to transform your entire life, so I encourage you to celebrate yourself more.

Take it from Oprah Winfrey, who said, “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.”

I hope these affirmations for positive thinking exercises instilled some love and happiness into your day. I encourage you to try these out or create your own. It's all about finding what resonates most with you. The key is repetition.

If you incorporate positive affirmations into your morning ritual, positive thinking will become your natural state of mind.

Positive thinking is a way of life. If you commit to adopting a positive mindset, you will manifest success, happiness, and abundance. When you look on the brighter side of life, everything becomes brighter as a result.

Someone once said that “A negative mind will never give you a positive life.” So, what are you waiting for? Start flooding your mind with positive thoughts today!

Are you ready to learn how to get out of depression and failure, then turn your life around?

Anyone that suffers from depression knows how debilitating it can be. The voice of depression tells people that life is meaningless and that there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

It whispers in your ear, “You are a failure and you will never be successful.”Can you relate? If so, you aren’t alone. There is a stigma towards depression, but it is actually a common experience among many people in today’s world.

I’ve experienced depression, but I was able to overcome it, and I want to share some strategies for how you can do the same. Are you ready to turn your life around and break free from the grips of depression?

The human mind is a powerful tool; it can be your best friend, or in the case of depression, your worst enemy. In order to conquer depression, I believe that you need to master your mindset. When you learn how to take control of your own thoughts, there is no room for negative feelings.

I would like to respond to a question that I recently received from one my followers who was brave enough to share his experience with depression. He wrote to me and said,

“Dear Stefan, I feel sick and depressed. I always fail at achieving my goal, which is succeeding at the Chartered Accounting exam in my country of Morocco. I can’t sustain any job opportunity. I either quit or get fired. How can you help me?”

The first thing that you need to do is change your belief around failure. Failure doesn't exist. There is only feedback. Every time you fail, you are actually one step closer towards where you want to be.

The most successful people throughout history have all failed. The only difference is that they don't let failure hold them back from achieving great things in life.

Take the story of Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb. Apparently it took him 1,000 tries before he developed a successful prototype. When asked how it felt to fail 1,000 times, he responded with, “I didn’t fail 1,0000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.”

If you want to achieve massive success in life, fail more, because that means that you are are willing to do things that other people aren't.

I fail every day. I've made so many mistakes in my life and in my business, but I refuse to get discouraged. It all comes down to your mindset.

I celebrate every result, good or bad, because I see it as a sign from the Universe that something better is coming my way. I believe that there is a purpose behind everything in life.

It is your job to learn from your mistakes, and improve upon them, so that you can make progress and achieve your goals. This is how to get out of depression and failure, then turn your life around.

Secondly, ask yourself, “Why is what I’m doing a must?” Ask questions and access the emotional states that you need in order to conquer the challenges that are holding you back.

Steve Quatrano, a member of the Right Question Institute, a nonprofit research group, explains that the act of formulating questions enables us “to organize our thinking around what we don’t know.” In order to make the right decisions in life, you need to go deep and ask questions that matter to you.

The best way to move forward in life is by setting a goal and having a vision. You need to have something that you are working towards. Write down your goal every day and remind yourself of it. Once you’ve set a goal, now you have to take action.

Create a plan and decide on the first step that you can take in order to bring you closer to achieving your goals and living your vision. I like to create what is called, “a could-do list”, which is all the things that you could do, which would allow you to achieve your goal.

Make sure that you keep updating your goals and your vision, and check-in with yourself regularly to make sure that you are making progress. It’s the small, mundane things that you do on a consistent basis that produce the biggest results over time.

Ask yourself, “How can I improve by 1% today?” Celebrate and reward yourself when you make improvements in your life, and keep moving forward, no matter what. This is my strategy for how to get out of depression and failure, then turn your life around.

Are you ready to turn your life around and take back control? Stop fighting a war inside of your head. When you change your beliefs, you change your life, giving you a more positive and brighter outlook. More importantly, by changing your beliefs, it will allow you to break free from the grips of depression, once and for all.

Today I would like to walk you through my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity. This routine allows me to optimize my body, mind, and spirit so that I can perform at my best, every day.

I’m a big believer in the power of rituals. I’ve been doing them since I was 17 years old. I used to struggle with shyness, social anxiety, and depression.

By creating a morning ritual, I was able to recondition my beliefs and transform every area of my life.

The morning is the best time to condition your mindset. Research shows that your mood in the morning affects your productivity all day.

Are you ready to wake up every day, feeling more productive, energized, and happier? My morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity will allow you to make that happen.

Discipline is one of greatest barriers that prevent people from achieving success in life. If you want to build habits that stick, you need to be consistent with them. In the words of Tony Robbins says, “The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”

How you start the day is how you end the day. If you only engage in a habit once in a while, it won’t stick. It’s what you do consistently that makes the difference.

How do you start your mornings?

If you wake up in a reactive state, you will move throughout your entire day feeling stressed and anxious. A lot of people believe that they need a triple espresso as soon as they get out of bed. This way of thinking is counterintuitive.

My morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity provides me with a natural ‘buzz.' It makes me feel unstoppable, without the negative effects that come from over-use of stimulants.

Do you wake up every morning, feeling tired and sluggish, even though you slept for 8 hours? If so, it’s time to start a morning ritual.

If you want to maximize your productivity, you need to spend the first part of your morning taking care of YOU. If you make your job, your partner, or your friends a priority, then you need to commit to making yourself a priority as well.

Just like you train your body at the gym, you need to train your brain every day. I treat myself as if I am a high-performance athlete. I know that if I want to get the most out of myself, I have to create rituals that will allow me to do just that.

In order to make sure that I successfully complete my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity, I create a list and check-off each activity, as I complete it.

The purpose of a checklist is so that I can visually measure my progress as time goes on. If you don’t have a plan for your life and you just move throughout your day aimlessly, then you’re not going to get the most out of it.

Here is my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity:

1. Smile

The first thing that I do the moment that I wake up is smile. When you start your day with gratitude, it shifts your entire perspective. Every day that you are alive is a gift, and you need to treat it as such. Don’t ever take your life for granted.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t feel happy and positive 100% every morning, but by training myself to smile and start the day in an empowering way, I am setting myself up for success.

Research shows that when you smile, neurochemicals and peptides are released, which tricks your body into raising your dopamine; which in turn raises your spirits and calms your nervous system.

2. Drink Water

After you’ve been sleeping for 7-8 hours your body is dehydrated, and your cells crave water. I’ve got a water ionizer that I use which produces high quality, 9.5 alkaline water.

By drinking water first thing in the morning, you kick-start your metabolism, which will give you immediate energy and flush out toxins from your body.

3. Take Supplements

I start off by taking a shot of apple cider vinegar, which is a great bacteria killer. Then, on an empty stomach, I take a digestive enzyme supplement called, Masszymes. I also take a variety of other supplements, like B12 and Vitamin D3.

Supplements like these ensure that I have energy throughout the day, so that I never have to rely on caffeine or sugar. More importantly, engaging in this body ritual ensures that I will experience optimal health and performance, over the long-term.

4. Read A Book

I spend at least 10 minutes every morning reading an inspiring book on my Kindle reader. Don’t start your day by obsessing over social media, or reading negative things on the news. Instead, try feeding your mind with positive information and commit to learning something new.

5. Write in my Journals

After reading a book, I like to write in my Five Minute Journal, a simple exercise that allows me to focus on what is most important for me to accomplish throughout my day.

I also write in my Productivity Planner, which offers a similar process. I write down what my most important task for the day is, what my secondary tasks of importance are, and then determine what my daily productivity score is.

For those of you who are spiritual, I also write in my Christian gratitude journal.

6. Lie Down On My PEMF Mat

A PEMF mat is a portable mat that produces pulsed electromagnetic fields around an individual’s body. I lie on this mat every morning and do my meditation.

The health benefits of PEMF are amazing, some of which include regenerating nerves, reducing stress and fatigue, and eliminating bodily toxins.

I hope you enjoyed learning about my morning ritual for daily success, motivation and productivity! If you want the more in-depth version, that covers all of my rituals, then join my 7-day course, Morning Ritual Mastery.

Rituals have been the secret to my success, and have allowed me to become the person that I am today. Invest in yourself. Your body, mind, and spirit deserve it.

Motivational Speech for Success: Step out of Your Comfort Zone https://projectlifemastery.com/powerful-motivational-speech/ https://projectlifemastery.com/powerful-motivational-speech/#respond Tue, 18 Jul 2017 01:09:11 +0000 http://projectlifemastery.com/?p=6513 A comfort zone is safe, but predictable. Do you want to learn why it's important to wake up and go beyond your comfort zone? Click here to learn more!

The post Motivational Speech for Success: Step out of Your Comfort Zone appeared first on Project Life Mastery.

]]>

Today, I have a powerful motivational speech for you. If you want to achieve your goals and dreams in life, you need to wake up and go beyond your comfort zone.

We all have a zone of comfort, which is comprised of a consistent set of beliefs and behaviours that we’ve grown accustomed to. According to Alan Henry, the editor in chief of Lifehacker“Your comfort zone is neither a good or bad thing. It's a natural state that most people trend towards.”

When we live in a comfort zone, we feel safe, but the problem with this place is that nothing ever grows here. Life becomes predictable. If you don’t go beyond your comfort zone, you will never be able to become the person that you aspire to be. Growth and comfort do not co-exist.

It’s time to wake up and go beyond your comfort zone. In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, “Do one thing every day that scares you.” What would you do if you weren’t afraid?

Watch the video below:

(Click here to watch on YouTube)

At one point in my life, I was stuck in my comfort zone. I always knew that the life that I desired was possible, but I didn’t take action. I was distracted, I was a dabbler, and I was fearful.

In order to find some clarity, I decided to write a letter to my future self about my goals, dreams, and aspirations. In that letter, I asked myself:

“Stefan, what are you afraid of? I’m your hopes and goals. I wanted you as much as you wanted me, but you left me with no choice. I simply must move on. Please do not attempt to talk your way out of this. The years of indecision and lack of discipline tells me everything that I need to know. If you really wanted me, you would have found a way for us to be together. I’m so tired of seeing my hopes soar so high, just to see them dashed. I simply must move on.”

This was a letter that changed my life. It really opened me up to doing what was necessary in order to change my life. Sometimes you need to look in the mirror and have an honest conversation with yourself.

Unfortunately, a lot of people tell themselves stories about why they can’t do something, and these negative beliefs keep them stuck in a cycle of despair.

Someone once said that, “The naked truth is always better than the best-dressed lie.” If you want to change your life, you need to get real with yourself. The truth will set you free.

If you want to have more, you need to become more, which is why you need to put yourself in challenging circumstances and get out of your comfort zone. There is no better way to conquer your fears. To this day, I am constantly pushing my limits and engaging in actions that allow me to grow.

In the words of Eddie Harris Jr., “The sooner that you step away from your comfort zone, the sooner you will realize that it really wasn’t all that comfortable.” Everything that you want in life is on the other side of fear. It's time to wake up and go beyond your comfort zone. Are you ready?
