Your purpose isn't something you find.

Rather, it's something that you uncover and build through a process of self-discovery. In effect, your purpose is calling on you to step into your power. However, here's the catch… you cannot ‘think' your purpose into existence. Your “why” is something that can only be felt with your heart.

Once you commit to self-expansion and growth, you open the door to new opportunities. That is the space wherein which you will find the thing that makes you come alive inside. Let's talk about 3 things that can give you clarity about what you want in life.

1. Release the expectation that you have to have it all figured out.

The career path that you've chosen isn't the one that you have to follow for the rest of your life. You're not expected to have everything figured out. It's naive to assume that. Nobody has it all figured out! It's just not realistic.

When life changes, you have to adapt and change with it. Unfortunately, our society puts a lot of pressure on us from an early age to know exactly what our career path is going to be. As a result, a lot of people feel rushed and choose something random for the sake of choosing. Even worse, they choose someone else's path, at the expense of their goals and dreams.

If you've hit a point in your career where you are no longer passionate about what you're doing, that's OK. Instead of putting your head in the sand and thinking that there's no way out, remember that these are golden opportunities to pivot. Take the time to reevaluate your strengths, interests, and skills.

A lot of people have been forced to make a shift in the direction of their careers as a result of the COVID pandemic. While it may feel uncomfortable and create some level of fear, it can also be exciting. It's all a matter of perspective.

As you get older and your life changes, so too will your needs, values, and priorities. In your 20s and 30s, you may be more driven by success and money, whereas in your 40s and 50s you may value your time and freedom more. A shift in values will always lead you down a different path in life. Embrace the shift.

2. Ask yourself questions and journal about what's important to you in a career.

What are your core life values? What is important to you? Freedom is important to me. In particular, to do what I want when I want. Other people don't necessarily value freedom. For them, it may be financial security. Having a consistent paycheck that they can rely on every two weeks makes them feel grounded.

When I was in my early 20s, I didn't have the fear of taking risks. I was willing to do whatever it took to create financial freedom, be my own boss, and build my dream lifestyle. This is why being an entrepreneur was so attractive to me. Take out a journal and reflect on what you want in life.

Connect with your mission and vision. Write it out, feel into it, and recite it out loud. Once you know where you want to go, you can start devising a plan for getting there. Too often, many people doubt themselves because they don’t think they’re ready to begin moving in the direction of what they want to accomplish.

News flash… “ready” is a lie. You'll never be ready for anything. There will never be a perfect time to start, so the best thing you can do is dive in, feel the fear, and do it anyway.

3. Try different things.

When was the last time that you tried something new? You won't achieve big things by playing small. It's a fact. You'll never know what your true path in life is until you get your feet wet and gain experience. The more things that you try, the closer that you'll get to your purpose.

It's only through trial and error do you figure out what you like and don't like. Yes, the act of stepping outside of your comfort zone can be terrifying. A lot of people allow their fear of the unknown to stop them from trying anything.

Trying new things and embracing failure is the very thing that will help you eliminate your fears altogether. More importantly, it will allow you to expand your mind and become a student of life.

Keep in mind that nobody is asking you to be perfect, so be willing to suck. When you experience the buffet of life, you will naturally grow into your purpose. Don't rush it. Trust the process, take action, and whatever you do, don't quit.

Are you ready to find your purpose in life?

If you want to live a life of happiness, success, and fulfillment you must live a purpose-driven life. Choose a path, give it a chance, and then decide if it aligns with who you are and what you value.

In the words of Dr. Steve Maraboli, “You were put on this earth to achieve your greatest self, to live out your purpose, and to do it courageously.” The world is waiting for your gifts. It's time to stop holding back and start stepping into your power.

If you want to accelerate your success, do work that you love.

If you are stuck in a job that you hate right now, I know that this may sound like annoying advice. Sometimes we get stuck on a path that wasn't even ours in the first place. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't believe that they have control over their own destiny. As a result, they end up living someone else's dreams.

Tony Gaskins Jr. said it best – “If you don’t build your dream, someone will hire you to help build theirs.” You may not believe it yet, but you have 100% control over your happiness and success in life. When your attitude shifts and you start seeing yourself as the driver of your own life, the game changes.

The first step to living in alignment with your truth is making a decision that you are ready to embrace your true self. This requires that you stop caring so much about what others think you should do or who you should be. A lot of people invest way too much time and energy trying to be accepted by others. From personal experience, this gets you nowhere. It is only when you decide that you are ready to discover your unique purpose that you step into your power.

The first way to accelerate your success is to figure out your ‘why.'

Your ‘why' is your purpose. If you don't know why you are here it can be hard to keep going when life knocks you down. The question is… how do you find it? Well, I know that your purpose won't magically fall into your lap. You've got to make figuring out your life purpose BE your sole purpose. Your purpose won't find you if you don't take action. You've got to be intentional about the decisions that you make on a daily basis.

Take a step back and ask yourself, “What do I want and why do I want it?” Answering this question is what will allow you to get to where you want to go so much faster. When you do work that you love, the world is your playground.

Imagine as if you are driving down a highway. There is a fast lane and a slow lane. When do you drive in the slow lane? Well, it's usually when you are looking for an exit. This is when you know that you are living a life of mediocrity. In my experience, this only results in a life of pain and suffering.

A study that analyzed the behavior of 30,000 bosses and managers found that 11,000 of the worst-performing of these managers displayed mediocre performances. They had become passive which, in turn, blocked them from higher levels of performance at work. If you want to accelerate your success in life, you must dare to be different.

The second way to accelerate your success is to model the habits of successful people.

Not only that, but you need to surround yourself with these types of people. Who has the life that you want? Study this person's behaviors. Become obsessed with learning as much as you possibly can from him or her. If you want to be rich, you won't achieve this goal if you hang out with people that are broke. Similarly, if you want to be a happy person, but you surround yourself with negative energy, you will naturally fall into this state of being. It's fair to say that the people in your life influence who you become.

According to psychologists Elaine Hatfield and John Cacioppo, these effects are due to the concept of emotional contagion. As human beings, it is our natural tendency to mimic those around us. By nature, you will feel compelled to unconsciously copy whomever you are spending time with on a regular basis.

As Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the five people that you spend the most time with.” Look at your circle of friends. Are they lifting you up or holding you back? If it's the latter, it's time to find new friends. At the end of the day, it all comes down to how bad you want success.

If you do work that you love, I promise that success will follow.

Life is short. If you are not living in alignment with your purpose, today is the day to change that. The world is waiting for your gifts. Do work that makes you come alive inside. Doing so will allow you to discover things about yourself that you never knew existed. When you start seeing success as something you control and something you dictate, your entire outlook on life will change.

Are you ready to drive in the fast lane and create success, on your terms?

It's time to define success on your terms and live in alignment with your soul's mission.

In today's digital world, there is so much knowledge to consume. If you are looking for the answer to success, all you need to do is go online.

Learning is great, but a lot of people end up living their lives in pursuit of other people's definitions of success. It's time to start creating a version of success that is yours and yours alone.

Are you ready to create your success blueprint and build a life that you are proud to live?

What does success really mean to you?

If you have never taken the time to think about, now is the time to do so. In order to create your dream lifestyle, you need to know what is truly important to you.

Success is something that we all strive for in life. I know my definition of success, but that does not necessarily mean that you hold the same one. Life isn't a competition to see whose version is better. The meaning of success is unique to each of us. Do you associate success with money, power, recognition, stability, or happiness? The list goes on and on.

Your childhood experiences influence your perception of success as an adult. A lot of people assume that, in order to be deemed a “successful” person, they have to do something “extra special.” As a result, they live their lives based on widely accepted definitions of success.

Unfortunately, this decision comes with a cost. People end up sacrificing what is important to them and putting their dreams on the backburner. In my eyes, that is like playing Russian roulette with your life.

Is this a gamble that you are willing to take?

If you are having trouble defining success on your terms, the first step is to become aware of the areas of your life where you are living out of alignment. By doing so, you will become empowered to remove the roadblocks that are standing in your way of success. This will give you the freedom to pave the way for more joy and happiness into your life.

In their book, The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, Esther and Jerry Hicks suggest that “The achievement of anything that you desire must be considered success… but, if you will let your standard of success be your achievement of joy, everything else will fall easily into place.”

Think of life's roadblocks as opportunities to come back to your authentic self and to discover sides of yourself that you never knew existed. If you need support along the way, here are 5 ways for how to define success on your terms.

1. Decide What Is Important To You

It sounds like an easy thing to figure out, but that's not always the case. Have you ever stopped to really think about what is important to you? Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in our to-do lists, household chores and priorities that consume our daily schedule. As a result, you may have forgotten about the big things that really matter in life, like happiness and health.

One of the big reasons why a lot of people fail to achieve success in life is because they never decide what it is that they want. Instead, they just follow the crowd and wonder why they lack motivation and drive.

If you ask a young kid what he or she wants to be when they grow up, their answers can sometimes seem unrealistic. They may say something like, “I want to be a superhero.” They don't think twice about their answer because that is the only thing that is important to them. Their belief is so strong that nothing else matters, including others' opinions.

As a result of parental and societal conditioning, a lot of kids end up losing or suppressing the dreams that they had as children. Can you relate? If so, how do you figure out what is important to you?

Blogger and author Scott Berkun suggests that there are “three piles of life” that you need to pay attention to – things that are important, things that are unimportant, and things that are unimportant and distract you from what is important. By getting clear on what those piles look like, you can then shape your life into the experience that you desire.

2. Visualize Your Ideal Life

A lot of people have a burning desire to create the life of their dreams but they don't know how to get it. As a result, they may ruminate on all of the things that are holding them back, instead of focusing on what they can do to achieve success.

This is where visualization becomes a powerful tool to use. Visualization is a mental technique that uses the imagination to attract success into your life. You create your reality. As Albert Einstein once said, Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”

Once you know what is important to you, start to visualize what your ideal life looks like. Think about where you would want to live, what your days would look like, whom you would spend your time with, and what kind of work you would be doing. When you are visualizing, try to be as specific as possible.

The reality is that, if you can't picture yourself being successful, then chances are you never will be. I encourage you to create a habit of visualizing your future self every single day. Doing so has the power to catapult your level of success in life.

Are you ready to start moving towards the life that you've always dreamed of? Start imagining that you already have it. Seeing is believing.

3. Live Your Life On Purpose

The most important question to ask yourself is, “Why am I here?” Everything in life has a purpose and that includes YOU. I believe that each of us has a unique gift that we are meant to share with the world.

Living your purpose can be exciting and scary at the same time. However, once you have the courage to tap into it, it can bring the highest level of meaning and fulfillment to your life that you once only dreamed was possible.

Not only is finding your purpose good for your soul, but it's also good for your health. In a study that followed 6,000 individuals for 14 years, people who reported having a higher sense of purpose were more likely to live longer than their peers across all age groups. This included younger adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults.

Your purpose is your divine GPS; it guides your decisions and shapes the direction that your life will take. Who is directing your focus? If it isn't you that is doing it, then you may be living someone else's dream. Choose to be who you authentically are. Don't ever dim your light because you are scared of failing or letting other people down.

Now is the time to give yourself permission to play big. You only have one life. Why not maximize it by living your life on purpose? T. Alan Armstrong said it best – “If there is no passion in your life, then have you really lived? Find your passion, whatever it may be. Become it, and let it become you and you will find great things happen FOR you, TO you and BECAUSE of you.”

4. Don't Let Others' Opinions Of You Control Your Reality

I believe that there are two groups of people in this world – those who achieve true success and those who don't. The former are the ones who live out their version of success rather than someone else's.

Your dreams weren't given to you. They are yours and yours only. You may not believe that you can do something because somebody told you that can't. Trust me when I say that anything in life is possible if you believe that it is.

Who is impacting your decisions in life? Are these people uplifting you to greatness or limiting your potential? Do not let others' judgments and opinions of you control your reality. This is your life.

You should value others' opinions. However, don't allow those opinions to dictate your decisions and determine how you should live your life. The fact of the matter is, no matter what you do or say, there will always be haters out there that will try to put you down.

It's your job to silence this noise. Use their negativity as fuel for the fire. Their words are not your truth. Trust in yourself. The only person that you have to prove anything to is the image staring back at you in the mirror.

In the words of Marcus Aurelius, “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” If you no longer worried about what others thought of you, what would success look like to you?

5. View Success As A Journey, Not A Destination

Have you ever wondered why it is that some people are super successful in life while others are not? Successful people don't quit. Ever. They know that success is a journey of learning and unlearning everything about themselves and the world.

If you become too consumed with the end point of success, you will miss out on all of the beautiful moments that happen along the way. This is why it is so important that you celebrate all the small milestones that you achieve on the journey to fulfilling your dreams. It's your daily habits and choices that matter most.

Achieving success doesn't mean that you have to change something about yourself. Don't get attached to that story. The secret to success is being your authentic self and living out that truth every single day. Did you know that you are already a success? Having the perseverance to pursue what it is that makes you come alive inside is a huge success in and of itself.

Success isn't something that magically shows up at your doorstep one day. Similarly, when you achieve success, it is not the end of the road. Instead of thinking of achievement as something that is constantly out of arms reach, have gratitude for how far you've come and focus on what is already working well in your life.

Be brave enough to define success on your terms.

Take back your inner power and define success on your own terms. Live life for YOU. Go inward and figure out what makes you come alive inside. This is the most precious gift that you can give to yourself and the world. To succeed in life you need to be radically aligned with your true self.

The post Rock Bottom: The Foundation Upon Which You Can Rebuild Your Life appeared first on Project Life Mastery.

Rock bottom can be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Sometimes you need to hit your emotional threshold before you are truly ready to change your life. Research shows that bottoming out as a result of job loss can be necessary before finding the radical solution that will lead to a new work identity.

Sometimes you need to know what it feels like to lose everything so that you can let go of what no longer serves you and start fresh.

In the words of Pattie Mallette, “When you hit rock bottom, there is nowhere to go but up.” Are you ready to learn why rock bottom can be the foundation upon which you rebuild your life?

Watch the video below, where I talk about 3 reasons why you aren't winning at life:

Rock bottom isn't a place that anybody is proud of being in.

Let's face it… life can be a tough teacher and it doesn't always care about your master plan. Because of this, you need to adapt and be flexible. All of us fall down at some point in our lives. All that matters is how you respond and put the pieces in your life back together.

Have you ever hit rock bottom? Are you already there? Everyone has a different “bottom.” Maybe your relationship has fallen apart. Maybe your business has failed, or maybe you just aren't happy with your life. For whatever reason, sometimes you will find yourself in a place you could have never imagined.

However, nobody has to stay in a dark hole forever. Giving up is a choice, and it's one that you don't have to make.

I know what rock bottom feels like. When I hit it, it felt like a blow to my face. I was in my early 20's when I was at my lowest. I suffered crippling anxiety, extreme shyness, and depression. There is a stigma towards failing in life. It's considered a bad thing so nobody wants to talk about it, nor do they even know how to deal with it.

I soon realized that the only person that was going to save me was myself. It took me a while to accept this reality. For a while, I took zero action. I continued the repetitive cycle of self-sabotage because I believed that my failures were proof that there was no way out of my hole. I was wrong.

The one thing that kept me going was my willpower.

I was ready to try anything if it meant that it would get me one step closer to achieving my goals in life. The focus became approaching everything with an attitude of curiosity instead of self-judgment.

I realized that struggling in life is a choice. At any given moment, you have the power to change your life. One of my favorite rock bottom quotes is – “Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the right way.” – Justin Kanayurak

Life's greatest lessons afford you opportunities to grow, learn, and become more. You only improve when you encounter experiences that stretch you beyond your limits. That is exactly what rock bottom offers you the chance to do. The challenges that shake you to your very core are the ones that have the power to change your life for the better.

Here are 8 reasons why hitting rock bottom is the foundation upon which you can rebuild your life.

1. Your Disempowering Beliefs Become Apparent

Everyone struggles with limiting beliefs at some point in their lives. Your disempowering beliefs are there to keep you safe. They do this by keeping you locked inside your comfort zone. However, you only grow by finding your edge and risking everything.

When you hit rock bottom, your limiting beliefs come to the surface. If you don't face difficult emotions and decide to ignore them, you will only feel worse.

The only way that you can rise above your circumstances in life is by acknowledging the parts of yourself that you need to work on. This is when you start to become aware that you haven't been moving ahead in life because you've been repeating the same disempowering behaviors.

It’s not until you break the negative cycle and start the journey back to your authentic self that you start creating a new chapter in your life, one that is more empowering.

2. You Start To Question Everything

When your entire world is turned upside down you start to question anything and everything about your life as you've known it. This allows you to get a much more vivid image of the reality that you have been living.

What many people fail to recognize is that a lot of what we learn and do are based on others' assumptions about the world and how we should operate in it.

The reason why people choose to not question things is that they are afraid to hear the truth. They don't want to know what might come, so they stay in the dark and assume that they have all the answers. This repetitive pattern of thinking makes it difficult to cope when adversity strikes.

When you learn to embrace new ways of thinking, you stretch yourself. In doing so, you are ready for whatever life may throw your way. In the words of Bryant McGill, “Revolution starts in the mind. Question everything.” From this place, you are able to rebuild your life and start anew.

3. You Realize That Failure Isn't Fatal

One of the most difficult parts of hitting rock bottom isn't failing. Rather, it's finding the strength to pick yourself back off the floor and keep going.

Your mind is the most powerful asset that you will ever have. If you can change your perspective of what failure is, you will become empowered to get yourself out of the funk that you are in. When you take time to learn from your mistakes, you start to recognize that the bad times are designed to make you a stronger person.

There are countless stories of successful business leaders and sports stars who have hit rock bottom and climbed their way back to success again. It's how they chose to approach the darkest times in their lives that gave them the resilience to thrive through challenges instead of merely survive.

In the words of Stephanie Moir, licensed mental health counselor and self-care coach,“Use your fear to help you pursue your future and do not let it defeat you.” Fail your way towards success.

4. You Take Responsibility For Your Life

Everything in life happens for a reason. If your life is falling apart, you've got to hold yourself accountable for why this is happening. When bad things happen it's easy to blame others or the world for your problems. You are where you are today because of the choices that you've made.

A lot of people struggle to accept this fact of life. However, when you hit rock bottom it forces you to accept full responsibility for everything that has happened in your life, to date.

In the book, Resilience: Hard-Won Wisdom for Living a Better Life, Eric Greitens says, “The first step to building resilience is to take responsibility for who you are and for your life… the essence of responsibility is the acceptance of the consequences — good and bad — of your actions.”

You realize that making excuses doesn't get you anywhere in life so you become more focused on being a solution-focused thinker. Doing so puts you in the driver's seat of your life and gives you back a sense of control that allows you to get out of the hole that you dug for yourself.

5. You Let Go Of The Past

Have you ever held onto something in your life because you didn't think that life would ever be the same if you gave it up? When nothing is working there is no better time to let go of all of the things that make you feel heavy.

Letting go of disempowering things creates space for new opportunities, beliefs, and values from which you can build your life around.

Rock bottom offers you the chance to start fresh and create a new chapter in your life, on your terms. It allows you to refill your cup of life. As J.K Rowling once said, “Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”

6. You Find Your Purpose

Before you hit rock bottom you naturally assume that where you are is where you are supposed to be in life. However, once you lose everything you are faced with a new reality.

This moment provides you with a unique opportunity to go inward and discover what is most important to you. This is because your soul has been stripped bare. You become more vulnerable, which makes you more open to feeling and receiving.

You decide that you never again want to make regret part of your life, so you become more aware of what it is that makes you come alive inside and live from that place. As a result, you surrender to your higher self and live in alignment with your purpose in life.

7. You Become Insanely Grateful

Difficult moments teach you to be grateful for what you already have, instead of dwelling on what you don't have. I am grateful for all of the challenges that I've gone through in my life. They have shaped me into the person that I am today.

Rock bottom was the place for which my life truly began. When you are in pain, the little things become big things. You start to notice places, people, or things that you didn't pay attention to before.

When you are at rock bottom, everything feels like it's moving slower. Sometimes that is exactly what you need in order to stay in the present moment and have gratitude for your life.

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's COO and author of Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy, said about the sudden death of her husband, “It's very counterintuitive to try to recover from tragedy by thinking about an even worse tragedy, but it's a very powerful lesson because it gets us to gratitude for what is still good in our lives.”

8. You Learn The Art of Humility

Sometimes it takes reaching rock-bottom to finally learn the true value of humility. Humility is about having an open mind and becoming a learner for life.

This is where people get into trouble. They assume that they've got it all figured out. However, when adversity strikes, they fall apart because nothing makes sense.

Humility can be an ego-killer, but it also makes you realize that life isn't black and white and nothing is really permanent. In the words of Marianne Williamson, “Something very beautiful happens to people when their world has fallen apart: a humility, a nobility, a higher intelligence emerges at just the point when our knees hit the floor.”

Life is so unpredictable. You don't know what could happen from one moment to the next. By constantly growing and learning, you will thrive through challenges.

If you hit rock bottom, the only way you should go is up.

Keep in mind that, how you deal with rock-bottom ends up determining how you live your life. You have two choices – you can either build a strong foundation from it or do nothing and dwell in self-pity.

Challenges are a guarantee in life so the best thing that you can do is embrace them. When you do, you become unbreakable.

As someone once said, “Sometimes it takes an overwhelming breakdown to have an undeniable breakthrough.” You are stronger than you think. Never forget it.

It took one change in my life in order for me to become a millionaire.

When I was in my early 20's I discovered that you could make money while you slept. Instantly, I was sold. My main motivation was getting rich. I did whatever it took to achieve financial wealth.

By the age of 24, I was making a 6-figure income. Earning that kind of money felt good. However, there was a problem. I wasn't fulfilled.

I was missing something in my life but I couldn't figure out what it was. After some serious soul-searching, I found the answer. Are you ready to learn what it was?

Does money drive you to become a millionaire?

If so, you aren't alone. A study by Workforce Purpose Index found that 72 percent of people are motivated by status, advancement, and income. A surprising finding is that the other 28 percent don't make less money than those who are money-motivated.

Don't get me wrong. Money is great, but it's not everything. Once I achieved financial success, I soon realized that money doesn't buy happiness. I had no motivation or passion to continue building my business. Doing so felt like a chore. To put it bluntly, I was bored. I thought to myself, “I don't have to work, so why should I?”

I'm a spiritual man. I believe in God and the Universe. At certain stages in our life, I think that we receive messages that are meant to teach us something about ourselves. I remember the day when I received a message that said, “Stefan, you are not living your purpose in life.”

That struck me hard. I did a lot of inner work to determine what my purpose was. At that stage of my life, I loved the world of self-development because it had changed my entire life.

The second message that came to me was that I really loved to serve people. In the process of helping others, I also bettered myself and achieved fulfillment from the process. That is the reason why I started Project Life Mastery when I was 25 years old. My intention was never to make money from it. Rather, I just wanted to share my story, grow, and inspire others to do the same.

I realized that, by chasing money, it disconnected me from the things that made me come alive inside. No amount of money is worth that loss. From that day forward, I decided to pursue my purpose in life. That was and still is my driving force.

Once I made this change in my life, I became a millionaire.

When you do what you love, you connect to your heart intelligence. Your heart is connected to your spirit, and your spirit is connected to the Universe. The moment that I started living my purpose in life, the Universe supported me. As a result, I was able to attract financial abundance into my life.

In the words of Tony Hsieh, Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion.” Chase whatever it is that makes you jump out of bed every morning. When you do that, I promise that the money will follow.

What makes you come alive inside?

Work Life Balance For Entrepreneurs: What It Actually Means & How To Make It Work For You https://projectlifemastery.com/work-life-balance/ https://projectlifemastery.com/work-life-balance/#respond Mon, 21 May 2018 14:00:06 +0000 https://projectlifemastery.com/?p=8277 Is work life balance realistic for entrepreneurs? It starts with debunking what it actually means. Learn 7 ways that you can redefine balance for yourself!

The post Work Life Balance For Entrepreneurs: What It Actually Means & How To Make It Work For You appeared first on Project Life Mastery.

]]>

Work life balance is a challenge that many entrepreneurs face. Knowing what it actually means & how to make it work for you is key.

When people think of an entrepreneur, the image that comes to mind is a super ambitious, Type A personality who works 24/7 to manage every aspect of his/her business. It's very rare that an entrepreneurs' personal life is talked about, but they matter.

There is a stigma in the entrepreneurial world that there is no way to maintain a sense of balance while running a business. This isn't necessarily true. Let's face it. Being an entrepreneur is no walk in the park. Oftentimes, it can feel like having a life doesn't come with the territory.

It begs the question… is a work life balance even possible for an entrepreneur?

It starts with debunking the work-life balance myth and finding what works for YOU. In the words of Zig Ziglar, “I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can’t truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles.”

In the video below I talk about how to stay healthy and fit while traveling:

As an entrepreneur, do you struggle with work life balance?

If so, join the club! Here lies the problem. I think people get caught up with the word, balance. In many ways, it feels like an unattainable standard to strive towards. When people can't achieve it, it can make them feel like a failure.

Everyone secretly craves work life balance, but not everyone knows what it looks like. It's important to realize that work life balance feels and looks different for everyone, based on one's personality type, commitments, careers, priorities, and goals.

When you are an entrepreneur, it can never feel like there is never enough time in the day to accomplish everything. Research shows that people at all career levels suffer from the emotional and physical damage of workaholic expectations; destructive, stifling management practices; and a lack of sufficient vacation and leisure time — all in the pursuit of “success.” Typically, we frame such damage as products of not having a balance between work and life.

Don't get me wrong, I know that running a business requires hustle and hard work, but it's also equally important to take care of yourself.

Gary Keller said it best, “Work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four balls—family, health, friends, integrity—are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered.”

The concept of work-balance implies that work is something external to our life. However, when it comes to being an entrepreneur, this is far from true. If you think about balance as a scale, eventually the pendulum needs to swing, and that's exactly how life works.

When you are first building a business, perfectly balancing every area of your life is not an option. In many ways, you may need to abandon the idea of work life balance altogether. I remember in the early days of my business. In the early stages of my business, I would work hours on end. I sacrificed time spent with friends and family. I didn't spend money on going out or buying things for myself. Everything I had was invested in my business.

I knew how much time, effort, persistence and hard work it was going to take in order to achieve success. However, I always knew that it was a short-term sacrifice that I was making, for the long-term vision that I wanted to create in my life. Once my business started to grow, I was able to devote more time to other areas of my life.

It comes down to finding OUR true balance and not feeling like we have to fit into a box of what everyone thinks balance looks like. I think that finding your flow is even more important than work-life balance. The goal of living in a state of flow – whether it's emotional, mental or physical – is acting in alignment with your true self.

When you find your flow, work life balance becomes less about getting everything “right”, and more about tapping into your unique rhythm that serves your work and life. By making this simple shift in perspective, I believe that our lives become happier and our businesses flourish.

Let's face it, we are all just trying to do our best.

When we put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect, we get stuck and feel more out of balance. The entrepreneurial journey is one that requires business owners to constantly evaluate and re-evaluate what is best, from one moment to the next. When the world changes, we need to change alongside it.

In his talk, Off Balance On Purpose: The Future of Engagement and Work-Life Balance, Dan Thurmon says that, “We beat ourselves up in the pursuit of this idea of balance, thinking if we work hard enough, or we are smart enough, or long enough, that we can get to this moment where it all evens out.”

Let's explore 7 ways that you can redefine what work life balance means to you and find your flow.

1. Determine What Success Means To You

Have you ever asked yourself what success means to you? If not, now is the time. Make a list of all of the things that make you happy and fulfilled. Success means different things to different people. When it comes to entrepreneurship, it is crucial that you define what is important to you and your business, and then act on it.

Is your work in alignment with your values?

It's possible that your values may shift over time, but make sure that you are always taking into account what matters to you. I believe that true fulfillment in life is achieved when we make the conscious decision to honor what matters to us and live and work in alignment with that truth.

2. Find Your Purpose

As challenging and difficult as your entrepreneurial journey may be, it should never feel like work. When you are living ON purpose, you are able to find meaning in everything that you do because you are passionate about it. You have a higher vision for your life, and that is what propels you forward.

Lori Greiner once said that “Entrepreneurs are willing to work 80 hours to avoid working 40 hours a week.” She couldn't be more spot on. As an entrepreneur, I resonate with this message. There were times in my life when family and friends didn't understand why I was working SO hard at something that I wasn't making any money from.

My purpose trumped any criticism or judgment because I believed so much in what I was creating. When you make your purpose your profession, you experience the ultimate form of balance. Your work simply becomes a natural part of who you are.

3. Build A Support Network

As an entrepreneur, it is so important that you have a solid support network, both at work and at home, who is committed the vision that you have for your business and your life. There were many times in my life when I may have derailed if I didn't have friends and family that there were to lift me up and remind me of my “why.”

This is why I highly recommend that all entrepreneurs find a mentor, a coach, or a mastermind group that can help them navigate the storms that entrepreneurship brings with it.

Business can be a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. You have to be ready and willing to strap yourself in be prepared for anything and everything. However, when you've got a team of people in your corner, cheering you on, it helps the ride feel a lot less bumpy.

4. Unplug

When you are constantly ON, you are never really OFF. It may feel like you are going above and beyond, but making the choice to never unplug from technology could actually be a detriment to your productivity.

Research suggests that being distracted by email and other messaging systems may functionally lower your IQ. Your judgment may become clouded, and you may switch to a more reactive approach to information.

How can you focus on anything else if you are constantly online? You may be sitting there thinking, “Stefan, how do you expect me to remove myself from technology?” As an entrepreneur, I agree that being online is a necessity. However, there comes a point when you need to walk away from it and take a break.

In order to unplug, you need to set boundaries for yourself. Determine how and when you will work and stick to that plan. Doing so will ensure that you live a happier and healthier way of life.

5. Become A Master Delegator

Sometimes it can be hard for entrepreneurs to delegate tasks to other people because they get stuck in the story that, “Nobody knows my business better than me.” While this may be true, it's not a working smart mentality. At all costs, avoid doing everything because it is the surefire way to experience burnout.

You are only setting yourself up for failure if you think that you are the only one that can achieve your business goals. Delegating work can significantly help you work on your business instead of in it. Successful entrepreneurs know what their weaknesses and they delegate accordingly.

When you hire the right people, it allows you to stop wearing so many hats, so that you can focus on what matters most to your business success.

6. Set Healthy Boundaries

When I first started my online business, I thought that success meant that I needed to be available 24/7, and I would feel guilty if I wasn't. Over time, I started to realize that this wasn't a healthy way to live.

In order to find your flow, you need to establish healthy boundaries so that you can stay on course with your business, while still feeling like you are taking care of yourself. Sometimes setting boundaries is about saying no when people want you to say yes. It comes down to knowing your limits; deciding what is acceptable for you and your business.

By communicating your boundaries to others, not only will you be respected, but it will also free up your time to do things that matter to you and your business.

7. Schedule YOU Time

We live in a world that encourages a work hard attitude, even if that means at a cost to our physical, mental and emotional health. People wake up, slam a coffee, rush to work, check their emails and live and work on autopilot. It has become normal, but it's killing people.

It may come as no surprise to you, but studies show that entrepreneurs are at a high risk for burnout.

Knowing this reality, I promised myself from an early age that I was going to do whatever it took in order to prevent against this, which is where my passion for morning rituals come in. I have been practicing them since I was 17 years old.

This is my time to find my center and get grounded for the day ahead. It is one of the reasons why I have been able to achieve so much success in my life. Creating a consistent morning routine, like meditating, reciting positive affirmations or going for a walk in nature, will ensure that you start your workday on a high vibe note. Trust me when I say that it works.

Work life balance is all about finding your flow.

Instead of obsessing over attaining work life balance, redefine what balance means to you and your life. What does that look like for you?

Tatiana and I recently conducted an Amazon Q&A about starting your online business with Amazon. A lot of great questions were asked, and I wanted to share it with you!

We are back to talk about our experience selling on Amazon, and to share insights on how you can build a successful online business.

Since launching our first Amazon FBA Q&A together, we've been blown away by the number of views that our video received, and the number of people who have been inspired to take action to start building their own online businesses.

Are you ready to learn what it takes in order to start building a profitable online business selling on Amazon?

For those of you who follow me, you may know that the Amazing Selling Machine (ASM) is opening its their doors again! ASM is the #1 online training course that teaches you how to build a profitable business selling on Amazon. Both Tatiana and I recommend this course. It has changed our lives and it can do the same for you.

Here is a sneak peak of some of our answers to your burning questions:

How do you find manufacturers and/or suppliers for products, and how do you get samples?

You can either go to Google and search for suppliers, by typing in the keyword of the product that you are trying to produce, specify the area where you want to produce the product, and then once you get a list of suppliers, you can go ahead and email them. Alternatively, if you are sourcing overseas, especially China, I suggest that you go to Alibaba, type in your keyword and you will get a large list of manufacturers who you can contact.

These manufacturers have already been rated and reviewed by Alibaba. Look at the ones that have badges; this will tell you how long they've been selling on Alibaba. I suggest that you contact a lot of manufacturers. Collect 5-10 of the best ones (those that respond the quickest are preferred), and then get samples from them.

How much money do I need to start selling on Amazon?

Any business that you start will require some investment at the onset. one of the first things that we recommend for anyone that is interested in selling on Amazon is to find a high-quality training program that can help guide you, step-by-step, through the process to building your online business.

This is a business where you will get stuck and need answers. There are a lot of logistics involved in this business. Because you are investing inventory into it, you need to be armed with the right knowledge so that you don't end up wasting time and money. You can make some crucial mistakes if you don't know what you are doing. ASM is, by far, the best. Save your money, get an extra job, and make sure that you are financially ready to dive into this online business.

Don't treat this as a hobby. It's a business, so you need to take it seriously. You will need money to invest into your inventory, which will depend on the product that you want to sell. Tatiana started with less than $300 for her first product, however, I think that a $1000 is a good starting amount. You need to think about inventory, marketing, and shipping costs. The more money that you can invest into your Amazon business, the more that you can accelerate the process towards building it.

What are the legal aspects of branding? Do you need to register your brand as a trademark?

Eventually, you are going to want to protect your brand and your business. When you are first starting out, there isn't much to protect because it doesn't have value yet. However, once you start building your brand, you want to trademark it in the U.S. There are ways to do it yourself, or you can hire a trademark attorney, which is costly. One of the bonuses that I share is my process of how you can trademark your business yourself, inexpensively.

Should I start my business as a sole proprietor or as an LLC designation?

Given that Tatiana and I live in Canada, we don't have an LLC. That is more something that is done more in the U.S. This is a question to ask your accountant. We both started our Amazon businesses as sole proprietors, meaning that we set up our Amazon accounts in our own names, and receive all payments to our personal bank accounts. At the end of the year, we file our tax returns and it shows up as our self-employment income. However, in some cases, you might want to set up an LLC from the start. That is going to be based on liability and your personal tax situation.

When were you able to leave your job and solely devote your time to building your online business?

Don't rush into this business thinking that you can quit your job right away. Your job is important, in that you want to make sure that any money that you make from your Amazon business you are investing it back into your business.

If you quit your job and rely solely on having an income from your online business right away, this means that you will have less money to invest in inventory, marketing, branding etc. I would recommend that you keep your job for as long you can, grow your brand, and then once it's doing relatively well, and you can pay yourself an equal or higher salary than what you are currently making at your job, then quit.

Does ASM allow you to skip through the training modules?

ASM is an 8-week training program. Each module is released on a weekly basis because there's a large live training component to it. You won't be able to jump into other modules right out of the gate, because they have a certain structure with regards to how they teach the program. However, once the modules have been released, you have lifetime access to them, so at that point, you can go back through the modules at your leisure. Also, whenever ASM creates a new training program, as a member, you immediately gain access to that new training as well.

How do you grow your Instagram following?

Amazon is a great place to start building your online business, but one thing that we both recommend, as well as does ASM, is that you build a brand. Keep in mind that you aren't building an Amazon business. Rather, you are building a physical products brand.

A lot of people launch a product on Amazon and expect that Amazon will do everything for them. However, if you want to be successful over the long-term, you need to build your brand outside of Amazon, and learn how to do your own marketing, through social media, blogging, etc. In doing so, it will allow you to send traffic from all of these different places to your Amazon listing.

In addition to this, you are also going to eventually want to sell your product(s) outside of Amazon, like on your own e-commerce website or on Shopify. Build a diversified business that doesn't depend on Amazon. You need to really understand marketing because it's the most important thing, which is where training is helpful. You can have the best product out there, but if nobody knows about it, you won't make money.

Should I still buy ASM even though I don't have a product idea yet?

Yes. ASM is designed for those that just want to get started building an Amazon business. In the early modules of ASM, they teach you how to come up with product ideas. They have a process that has been proven to help thousands of people find profitable products. When you join the ASM, part of the bonuses that I provide to you involves access to a list of 100 that I've vetted and reviewed, that are profitable products that you can sell on Amazon. You can send me up to 10 products and I will help you pick the best one for you.

That is it for our live stream, starting your online business with Amazon Q&A with Stefan & Tatiana! We hope that we have provided you with some insightful, cutting-edge information that will support you in starting your online business selling on Amazon.

]]>

Are you tired of living someone else's dream? If you've always had aspirations of being your own boss, and find yourself dreading going to work every day, it's time to start building your own dream.

Why? Because life is too short not to do what you love. You are meant to do great things in this world.

Oftentimes people get stuck in their 9-5 jobs because of fear that they will fail. Having a dream is great, but nothing will ever come of it if you don't create goals and take action.

How would it feel to wake up every day with a smile on your face, knowing that you are making a difference in the world AND living your passion?

In the words of Tony Gaskins, “If you don’t build your dream, someone will hire you to help build theirs.” If this is your reality, it's time to make a change, and start creating YOUR future today!

Do you want to receive cutting-edge online business and marketing advice every month, live? CLICK HERE to join my Online Business Mastery Accelerator program!

I'm not suggesting that you quit your day job today and start a business tomorrow. Building a business is a long-term investment that takes hard work, commitment, time, patience, and grit.

A lot of people give up in the beginning stages when they don't see an immediate reward from their efforts; but if you stick with it, the payoff is beautiful.

Entrepreneurship is the key to financial freedom and living the life of your dreams.

What are you waiting for?

Here are three warning signs that may be proof your dreams are not your own.

1. Your Job Doesn't Align With Your Core Values

If your job doesn't motivate you to get out of bed every morning, there is a chance that it isn't aligned with your core life values.

What do you value? Does your current job allow you to focus on your core values? If not, it's time to start rethinking what is most important to you.

When you are aligned with your work you are connected to something that is meaningful to you. Something that allows you to fulfill your heart's desire. When this happens, it doesn't feel like work, because you are doing what you love.

As author Dr Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic explains in his book, The Talent Delusion: Why Data, Not Intuition, Is the Key to Unlocking Human Potential, “When people pick jobs that fulfill basic psychological needs, motives, and values, they immerse themselves more in their work, experience higher levels of job satisfaction, and their productivity rises.”

This is the beauty of creating a business that is yours; it gives you the freedom to design your life in a way that aligns with your core values.

2. You Work Feels Meaningless

We spend a large portion of our lives working, so it is important that we engage in work that is meaningful. Unfortunately, for most, lack of meaning is the norm.

More than 40 years of research shows that people struggle to find meaning when they lack autonomy, variety, challenge, and the chance to work on a whole product or service from start to finish.

This is where the luxury of having your own business comes into play, in that you have the intellectual and emotional freedom to create meaning behind every product and service that you deliver.

When you do work that makes a difference in the lives of others, you experience a sense of fulfillment and happiness that far outweighs a paycheck. As Viktor Frankl wrote in his book, Man's Search For Meaning, “Suffering ceases to be suffering once it finds a meaning.”

The secret to true happiness and success in life is being able to wake up every day and live your purpose. If you haven't found it yet, don't stop. Are you tired of living someone else's dream? Don't just strive for a job. Dream bigger.

3. You Are Fearful Of Not Living Up To Others' Expectations

Whose life are you living? Is it one that you intentionally created for yourself, or is it based on the inflated expectations of others? If you follow someone else's path, you will end up living a life of regret. If you can relate to this, great!

This means that you have the awareness of what brought you to where you are now, and the courage to change it. If you have found yourself in someone else's story, it's time to re-write it.

Take responsibility for your life, stop seeking approval from others, and live your own dreams. There is great freedom in letting go of the expectations of others and living in alignment with who you are.

Are you tired of living someone else's dream? If so, it's time to stop and build your own! Write down your life's vision, purpose, and goals. Then start taking steps, every day, towards creating the life that you desire.

If you don’t have a plan for your life, you will be a part of someone else’s.

In the words of the late Steve Jobs, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.

I would like to share with you 3 ways to find your flow in life. Can you remember a moment in your life when you experienced effortless focus while doing something that you loved, that time seemed to fade away?

Positive psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi describes this as flow, a mental state of complete absorption in one's current experience. In this state, you feel productive, happy, and 100% focused on the task at hand.

Oftentimes this experience is short-lived, but imagine how good it would feel if you could harness this feeling whenever your heart desired.

In the words of Csikszentmihalyi himself, “The flow experience has the potential to make life more rich, intense, and meaningful; it is good because it increases the strengths and complexity of the self.”

The question is, “How do you achieve this flow state?” It's a lot easier than you think. Are you ready to learn 3 ways to find your flow in life?

Activities that lead to a flow experience are called autotelic (from Greek: auto=self, telos=goal), because they are intrinsically motivated and gratifying. They also have an end in themselves, rather than in some other end product.

Finding your flow is about losing yourself in tasks that you are passionate about. It allows you to experience enjoyment in the progress of doing something challenging, yet rewarding.

Let's explore 3 ways to find your flow in life:

1. Calm Your Mental Chatter

Mental chatter is the inner noise that plays out in our brains every day. Before you attempt to go into a flow state, ask yourself what is going on in your mind that will prevent you from fully immersing yourself in a task.

A great way to do this is through meditation. Consciously bring attention to your thoughts, without engaging with them. Doing so will allow you to become more aware of the conditions that allow you to enter into a calm state of mind so that the experience of flow occurs naturally.

2. Find Your Zone Of Focus

We all know how discouraging it can feel to sit down, with the intention of immersing ourselves in one task, only to jump onto the next thing.

Research shows that multitasking actually drains the energy reserves of your brain. If you want to find your flow, you need train your mind to become fully immersed in one task.

Turn off all distractions until you've done nothing but the thing you set out to accomplish, for at least 20 minutes. Once you hit that point, you will tap into your flow state.

3. Do Work That You Love

If you aren't passionate about the work that you do, you will have a difficult time losing yourself in it. The best way to find your flow is to find what it is that makes you come alive inside. Invest time and effort into it, and don't settle for less.

Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, said it best: “If you’re into kite-surfing and you want to become an entrepreneur, do it with kite-surfing.”

A growing body of scientific evidence indicates that flow is highly correlated with happiness, both subjective and psychological well-being. When you utilize your talents at work and accomplish challenging goals that are meaningful to you, the outcome is full alignment with your passion and purpose in life.

These are 3 ways to find your flow in life. Knowledge about flow is great, but it's not enough. It will do nothing for you unless you take action and find ways to implement more flow into your life.

Make the effort to find that state of effortless concentration and enjoyment that makes life worth living.
