These 21 habits will help you become the person that you've always desired to be.

We are creatures of habit. Most of our life is governed by unconscious patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving.

According to research conducted at Stanford University, a human being has approximately 60,000 thoughts per day. Here's the shocking part… 90% of these thoughts are repetitive. If your repetitive thoughts are negative, you'll have a rough day.

I want to help you overcome disempowering habits and take back control of your life.

Are you ready to create the habits of the most successful people in this world? Read this!

How are habits formed?

Neuroscientists have traced our habit-making behaviors to a part of the brain called the basal ganglia, which plays a key role in the development of emotions, memories, and pattern recognition. Everyone's brain circuitry is different.

When you repeat a habit or behavior, neural pathways are formed in your brain. The more that you do something, the more that those neural pathways get reinforced and habits become automatic. Most of us are living our lives on autopilot.

If you had to focus on and be aware of everything in your life, you would be overwhelmed. I'm going to guess that you don't focus on the fact that your heart beats one hundred thousand times per day? Or that blood is constantly rushing into your ears?

Your brain filters out distracting thoughts so that you are not overloaded with too much information. Think of your brain as if it were a computer that has an operating system. Inside of that operating system are software and apps, and some of which may be outdated or disempowering.

Here's the great news… YOU have the power to cultivate empowering ways of thinking and behaving. Once you start practicing these new habits, eventually they will become automatic.

How Long Does It Take To Build New Habits?

Your prefrontal cortex is the part of your brain that contributes to your discipline and willpower. For some people, it's easier to develop a new habit (less than two weeks), while for others it takes longer (30-90 days).

The same thing is true with breaking bad habits and addictions. Think about it… if you have an addiction to something and it's a behavior that you've engaged in for many years, neural pathways inside of your brain will be very strong.

When you try to stop destructive behaviors and cultivate more empowering behaviors, the neural wiring is still present. It's been set up in such a way that when you engage in a behavioral pattern, you receive a source of pleasure.

Kind of like a ‘familiar' friend who has always been there. However, deep down inside you know that he or she is not good for your life in the long term. The less that you indulge in destructive habits, the weaker those neural pathways will be in your brain.

Over time, you'll become less impulsive, have more self-control, and your cravings will go away.

Keep in mind that it will probably take 30-90 days for you to develop empowering habits.

You need to train your brain to create a new neural pathway.

On that note, I want to share 21 habits for your health, wealth, & happiness. These habits have personally enriched and empowered my life. Let's dive in!

1. Wake Up At The Same Time Every Morning

It's important for your mind/body to have consistency. When you disrupt your sleeping patterns, it can take a toll on your cognitive and mental health. If you want to test your sleep I highly recommend getting the Oura Ring.

It measures your sleep, activity, heart rate variability, and body temperature. It will even give you indicators on how you will perform for the day based on the measurements that it does for your body.

When you wake up is very important for your circadian rhythm. Pick a time when you want to wake up every day and stick with it. Typically, I like to wake up when the sun rises. Usually, around 6 am. I use a device called the Human Charger that emits blue light through ear pods. It helps with energy production and helps reset your circadian rhythm.

2. Practice Gratitude

If you're not already grateful for what you have, what is the point in attracting more? I always start my day with a grateful heart. I take out a journal and write down 10 things that I'm grateful for. More importantly, I reflect upon what those things mean to my life.

The more that you focus on gratitude, the more rich that your life will be. When I used to do one-on-one coaching a lot of my clients had programmed the habit of focusing on what was not working well in their life. I would ask them to email me 3 things that they were grateful for each morning and evening.

We must learn how to appreciate the small things in life. In the end, the small things become the big things. The happiest people find joy in the simplest of pleasures. Make it a priority to lose yourself in the magnificence of life. There is so much to be grateful for.

3. Cultivate Self-Awareness and Reflection

Self-awareness is the most important life skill. You can't change anything that you're not aware of. I am hyper-aware of anything that prevents me from being my best. I like to think and analyze why I behave and feel the way that I do.

Every morning I journal my thoughts. Through that process, I get altitude on my life. Also, I like to talk to myself. It's a way for me to collect my thoughts and release what no longer serves me.

In the words of Jim Rohn, “A life worth living is worth recording.” The more awareness that you can bring to different aspects of your life, the more likely you will be able to identify stuck points that need changing.

4. Be Positive and Optimistic

If you follow me you know that I'm a positive person. A lot of tragedies will take place in your lifetime. It's a reality that everyone has to face. People you love will die. You will die. Life is fleeting which is why we need to enjoy every moment while we are here.

Unfortunately, we are inundated with a lot of negativity on social media and the news. The news is not designed to inform you. Rather, it's designed to startle you. They are a business so they want to get your views.

They do this by inducing fear inside of you. People pay attention to fear to ensure their survival.

At the same time, there's a lot of joy and beauty in the world. People are achieving great things, babies are being born, people are falling in love and getting married. The list goes on and on!

What you feel is going to be based on what you focus on. If you focus on the positive, you'll attract more good things into your life. I believe that you can find the good in every situation, even the direst circumstances.

In his book Learned Optimism, Martin Seligman demonstrates how optimism enhances the quality of life. He talks about the difference between pessimists and optimists.

Pessimistic people tend to be more accurate about things, but they're also unhappy and less successful in life. On the other hand, optimists tend to be less accurate in how they see things but they are happier and more successful. It's important to be accurate obviously, but also see the good side of life!

5. Plan Your Day/Week/Life

A lot of happiness and joy comes from living in the present moment. However, if you only live in the present moment, you won't plan for your future. It's a balancing act. Thinking ahead allows you to get ahead.

Getting clear on your goals and the vision that you have for your life will give you a sense of direction. If you don't have a plan, you'll fall into someone else's plan. You don't just want to make a living. Rather, you want to design your life. Part of how you do that is through planning.

I like to plan out my week in advance and schedule things inside of my calendar. Every morning I get clear on 3 high-leverage activities that I want to accomplish. I do the best that I can to stick to that plan. However, a plan is not a prison. You can modify and adjust accordingly.

6. Commit to Never-ending Improvement

The most successful people in the world are obsessed with learning and growing. They believe that change is possible, which fuels their desire to become more.

In today's world, you must counteract the negative information that you consume on the news with positive information, which you can find in courses, books, or podcasts to name a few things.

We all learn differently. Find something that inspires you, go deep with it, and commit to learning something new every day. You can overcome any challenge in life with knowledge. However, it's up to you to get resourceful and take action.

7. Exercise

Moving your body is extremely important for your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. A lot of studies have shown that exercise has more benefits than antidepressants. Many of us live a very sedentary lifestyle.

We are meant to be active throughout the day. As an entrepreneur, I sit a lot. Once I purchased a LifeSpan Treadmill Desk the game changed. When I'm not traveling, I use my desk daily. It has radically shifted my energy levels, improved my mood, and my overall level of productivity.

8. Meditate

In this crazy world where we are overstimulated daily, learning how to calm our minds is a superpower. The more that you are in your head, the more suffering you will experience. Meditation is the antidote to stress and anxiety.

It allows you to develop your pre-frontal cortex which gives you more control over your thoughts. I like to meditate with the Muse headband which tracks the activity in your brain and measures your meditation session. Alternatively, I also like to meditate with the Calm or Headspace apps.

9. Review Your Goals and Vision

Your vision gives your life direction. You always need something to move towards. If you don't have a compelling future, you'll get lazy. Whenever you're experiencing challenges in life, review your goals and vision.

Doing so allows you to redirect your focus so that you don't lose touch with your why. Maybe this looks like reciting your goals out loud or looking at your vision board. The more you are aware of how you are showing up, the more that you will move in the direction of your dreams.

10. Recite Affirmations

Every day you want to speak out loud about who and what you want to become. Whatever you attach the words, “I AM”, to is what you become. The words you speak have power behind them.

I like to write out the beliefs that I want to cultivate on flashcards and then I express those beliefs using incantations. This means that I use my voice and body to embody the meaning behind the words.

When you do this enough times, you'll start to believe what you're saying and start adopting a more positive outlook. Over time, you will start to embody the person you've always desired to become.

11. Be Disciplined and A Person of Integrity

Being a person of integrity is doing what you say you're going to do. You want to make sure that you always honor your commitments to the best of your ability. When you don't do what you say you're going to do, you lose confidence and trust in yourself.

You may not feel like doing something, but I promise that you'll be proud of yourself for taking action. Start small. Whatever goal you set, make it attainable. Don't make a commitment that you can't keep.

As you get mentally stronger, you will do more because you will have made it a priority to flex your discipline muscle.

12. Do Health Testing

I'm a big fan of being proactive with my health. A lot of diseases and sicknesses can be prevented if people do their research and get health testing. Every year I get my blood work checked.

Also, I do the following tests – gut microbiome, stool, micronutrients, bone density, heavy metal, and hormones. The sooner that I know what I am deficient in, the sooner that I can supplement or change my lifestyle to ensure that I am in optimal health.

Yes, there are some expenses to doing testing, but that comes with the upkeep of having a body. Your health is your wealth. Don't take it for granted and do make it a habit of getting tested.

13. Detox and Cleanse

I like to give my body a rest from the lifestyle choices that I make. All of us are under a lot of stress. Your body is working non-stop. Every time that you eat a meal your body has to digest it. This requires a tremendous amount of energy.

Your body is constantly trying to detoxify and eliminate through your bowels and urinary tract. A lot of times your body can't cleanse itself because you're putting in more toxicity than your body can eliminate. A juice fast or a water fast is a great way to give your digestive system a break.

14. Get A High-Quality Sleep

A lot of people don't get enough sleep. In today's stress-induced world, sleep isn't a necessity. Rather, it's a priority. Sleep research suggests that 7-8 hours is what we need to wake up feeling refreshed. I'm a big proponent of having an evening ritual.

I have a few devices that help me fall asleep, one of which is a chili pad. This is a pad that regulates the temperate of your mattress so that you will never be too hot or too cold, thereby allowing you to have a deeper sleep.

I also like to wear Swannies blue-blocking glasses before I go to bed. These glasses help to block out blue light and help my brain to release melatonin which ensures I get high-quality sleep.

Lastly, I lay on a PEMF mat that produces pulsed electromagnetic fields around my body. This mat programs my body towards deep sleep.

15. Rest and Recover

If you don't take time to rest and recover, you will burn out. Stress is the worst thing for your health and well-being. Have a rest day every week or every month. Or maybe find a time where you can take one to two weeks off with a vacation.

Disconnect from everything. It allows you to get perspective on your life. As an overachiever, I'm always on the go. It's my nature. It is hard for me to take days off. However, over the years I've learned how important it is.

I'm OK with making less money for a specific period if it means that I can get refocused and re-energized. If I don't take care of myself, everyone suffers – myself, my team, my followers, and my business. Rest now leads to more success in the long term.

16. Develop Your Traits or Skills

You want to cultivate the habit of working on some aspect of yourself that can benefit your career or business.

Each of us has a money-making skill. What is yours? Discover what that is and master it. By cultivating this skill, over time it will help you develop your competence which will give you more confidence.

17. Manage Your Finances

All successful people are good with their money because they focus on it consistently. It's best to start cultivating this habit when you don't have a lot of money because it will benefit you down the road when you have more money.

Also, make sure that you get into the habit of saving money. Put 10% of what you make into a savings account for emergency or use that money to invest in your future or yourself. If you can save more than 10%, amazing.

18. Invest

You need to learn how to be an owner, not just a consumer. Most people only consume products. These are liabilities rather than assets. Conversely, an investor invests in assets that appreciate and grow in value over time.

Make it a priority to invest in yourself, your business, or the stock market every single month. Be proactive about your future and create a financial plan. Make sure that your finances are always growing so that you can comfortably retire.

19. Socialize and Network

We are social creatures. Socializing does amazing things for our mental and emotional well-being. As humans, we can't survive without it. Lack of connection can lead to things like isolation, depression, and anxiety.

Socializing allows you to sharpen your communication skills. Networking is a very important success skill. It allows you to build rapport with like-minded people who are doing great things in this world.

Having an empowering ecosystem will do wonders for your life. Make it a priority to meet new people you are in alignment with. Also, put yourself in proximity with successful people and learn from them. You are the 5 people you spend the most time with — make your 5 people the best group possible!

20. Give and Contribute

You want to strive to be a go-giver, not a go-getter. The act of giving to others does amazing things for you. Contribution makes you feel more connected to humanity. Moreover, it makes you more compassionate to others' experiences.

When you give selflessly you are training your brain to be abundant. You are caring about someone else, with no expectation of receiving anything in return. The fulfillment that comes from that is indescribable.

In the words of my mentor, Tony Robbins, “It is not what we get. But who we become, what we contribute… that gives meaning to our lives.”

21. Practice Your Faith

This means different things to different people. Whatever you're fearful of is just your imagination that is undirected. Conversely, faith is your imagination directed. To live a great life requires faith and believing that things will get better.

That is what allows you to get through the hardest of times. I believe that there is a purpose for everything. Whatever you believe in, practice it daily.

There's a lot of things in life that are out of your control. However, if you surrender and trust that the Universe has a bigger plan for you, you'll experience so much more peace in your life.

These are 21 habits for health, wealth & happiness.

Please don't feel that you have to implement all of these habits into your daily routine. Of the 21 habits that I talked about, what is one habit that you feel can enrich your life?

How often are you going to practice this habit? Daily, weekly or monthly? Focus on cultivating one habit and mastering it. You can build more over time. I challenge you to take action and do a 30-day challenge!

When you change your habits, you change your life. When you change your life, anything is possible.

Do you truly know how to love yourself unconditionally?

Love is the greatest force in the Universe. It is what we all yearn for. However, a lot of people find it easier to love others than to love themselves.

Being in a relationship and sharing your life with someone that you love is a beautiful feeling.

However, your relationship with yourself will always be the most important relationship of your life.

In the words of R.H. Sin, “Sometimes your soulmate is yourself. You have to be the love of your life until you discover that kind of love in someone else.”

If you're ready to cultivate a deep appreciation for all aspects of yourself, keep reading…

What did your parents teach you about love?

Your parent(s) and/or caretaker was the first relationship that you ever had. It set the tone for everything that you experienced in life.

Self-love is the greatest gift that parents can give their children. Ultimately, the goal of every parent should be giving children the means to know, learn and experience success and happiness. Self-love is at the root of those traits.

However, when one or both parents do not value self-love or neglect their children in some way, a child learns that love isn't safe. Even worse, a child may create the belief that he or she is not worthy of love.

Lack of parental involvement in childhood can negatively affect a child's self-esteem and create a breeding ground for an unstable self-concept in adulthood. Oftentimes, this is why adults become people-pleasers and spend their lives doing things to gain approval or validation from others.

Recently I was coaching someone who struggles with self-love. They feel as if they aren't worthy or deserving of anything. As a result, they don't feel like they can fully receive love. I want you to take a moment and reflect upon a person in your life that you love unconditionally.

What would you do for that person? Probably anything, right?

Now, I want you to think about how often you show up for yourself in the same way that you show up for this person you love. The best way to truly love yourself is to value the relationship that you have with yourself above all else. Research shows self-acceptance is the key to a happier life, but it’s also the habit many people practice the least.

I believe that everyone should have a self-love ritual that they practice daily.

If you don't love yourself, you won't have any love to give to others. If you don't take the time to fill your cup up, it is impossible to show up for others. This is a recipe for feeling drained and undervalued.

Alternatively, when you fully embrace all aspects of yourself, your relationships with others deepen and are rooted in mutual love, understanding, and respect.

Eckhart Tolle believes that each person has two parts – a human and a being. Thus, we are human beings. Your conditioning, comprised of your personality, beliefs, and values belongs to the human dimension. Your being is your heart and soul; it is consciousness.

In the words of Eckhart, “Human is form. Being is formless. Human and Being are not separate but interwoven.”

It's useful to be able to separate the two. For example, you can feel guilty and have shame around some of your behaviors, but please understand that you are NOT your behavior. Your behavior doesn't define you. If you want to deepen your sense of self-love, I encourage you to start connecting with your being side.

It's all about learning how to be in the present moment with yourself, whether that's meditating, praying, journaling, reciting affirmations, or doing mirror work. If you have never done mirror work, I highly recommend reading Louise Hay's book, Mirror Work: 21 Days To Heal Your Life.

In her book, Louise talks about her Mirror Principle, which holds that our experience of life mirrors our relationship with ourselves; unless we see ourselves as loveable, the world can be a dark and lonely place. When you engage in self-love rituals, over time your self-esteem increases and you live a more joyous and fulfilling life.

This is how to love yourself unconditionally.

You are worthy of love and belonging. You wouldn't exist on this planet if you didn't. Make it a habit to show yourself love every single day. Be in awe of your existence because you are a gift to this world simply by being you.

THIS is the most important habit of your life.

Of all the habits that I've studied and applied in my life, this is the one habit that I put the majority of my attention towards.

Ultimately, the habits that you form determine the person you become. You must develop empowering habits to become your best self.

Ready to discover the one habit that has NOTHING to do with achieving success, but is still the most important habit to finding success? Read this!

Are you nurturing your inner home?

I don't care what your life looks like on the outside. It's not where you live physically that matters. Rather, it's where you live emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I believe that building your inner home of happiness should be your ultimate goal in life.

The problem is that we live in a society that overvalues success and views it as the end all be all. Don't get me wrong… achieving success is great! However, if you're under the illusion that success will lead to happiness and fulfillment you're setting yourself up for massive disappointment.

This is why so many people fall into the trap of chasing success, to the point of becoming a success addict. You can still experience excitement, passion, and joy as you're pursuing success. However, that's just a massive dopamine rush.

To a certain extent, praise stimulates the neurotransmitter dopamine, which is what makes all addictive behaviors addictive. If you choose to sacrifice your happiness for ‘hits' of success, over time you'll feel empty. You have to remember that you're not a human doing. Rather, you're a human being.

If you are constantly doing you are not truly living, which is why you must cultivate mindfulness. What you experience internally is the most important thing to master in life. As humans, we can achieve a state of self-actualization through the fulfillment of basic human needs.

Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five-tier model of human needs. From the bottom of the hierarchy upwards, the needs are:

  1. Physiological needs (food, water, and shelter)
  2. Safety needs (security)
  3. Love and belonging needs (romantic relationships and friendships)
  4. Esteem needs (self-worth)
  5. Self-actualization needs (achieving your potential)

Everyone is capable of reaching the level of self-actualization. It's the Holy Grail.

However, doing so will require that you put in the effort to meet the other 4 lower-level needs. At this stage in my life, I spend the majority of my time at the level of self-actualization. My top priority is mastering my inner world.

I still have financial goals that I want to attain, but they are not that important to me. There was a time in my life when achieving success and making money was everything to me. I had to be obsessed with achievement to get to where I am today. However, success didn't give me happiness.

I know a lot of people who have all the money in the world, but they're miserable on the inside. In my opinion, that's not living. Tony Robbins said it best – “Success without fulfillment is failure.” The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your emotions.

If you consistently feel disempowering emotions, like anger, sadness, frustration, shame, or guilt, you will never feel fulfilled. This is why I believe that the most important habit of your life is to take the time every day to experience positive emotions. This habit requires that you cultivate a high level of emotional self-awareness.

You have to intentionally tune in to how you feel and how your emotions impact your decisions in life. If you want to be happy you have to wake up every day and consciously choose to live in a beautiful state, regardless of what's going on in your external world.

How To Cultivate The Habit of Experiencing Positive Emotions

I don't care what your life looks like right now. There is always something to be grateful for IF you are willing to direct your focus towards what you love about your life.

Directing your focus is a habit. By default, your mind will always search for the negative.

Your brain isn't designed to make you happy. Rather, it's designed to help you survive. Therefore, it is constantly looking for threats to your survival. While that's helpful for keeping you alive, it's detrimental to your happiness.

The next time that you catch yourself falling into a disempowering state, ask yourself the following questions – “What is this experience teaching me? How can I use this experience to become a better person?” Don't judge your thoughts and emotions. Rather, become an observer of them.

By doing this, you'll start to realize that YOU are not your thoughts. In fact, you'll come to find out that your thoughts were never yours, to begin with. Meditation is a powerful tool for practicing the art of non-attachment. It allows you to connect with the present moment and surrender to what is.

In this state of mind, you will experience an abundance of inner peace and joy. The more that you condition yourself to feel positive emotions, the more that those emotions will become automatic. When you adopt the belief that life is always happening for you, you start to embrace every experience in your life as a gift. This is when you become truly free.

Emotional mastery is the most important habit of your life.

Please don't spend your life chasing success. Your external accomplishments are not an indication of your happiness. Rather, strive for self-actualization. That is where you will find lasting fulfillment.

I'll leave you with these words from Steve Maraboli –“Many people strive for success to find happiness when, in fact, the inverse is true. Strive for happiness and you shall find success.”

How would it feel if you could be happy every single day?

I'm not saying that it's not okay to have bad days. Life happens. However, a lot of people struggle to find happiness.

Herein lies the problem. In today's world, happiness is marketed as a goal in and of itself. The line of thinking is, “If I buy this, I'll be happy.”

You can't buy happiness. Rather, happiness is something that you cultivate internally through daily practice. The ability to feel happy every day is a lot easier than you think.

Happiness is elusive.

It's an emotion that we may get a glimpse of at different times in our lives. However, it isn't necessarily something that we feel consistently. Inside this blog, I want to bring attention to why I think this happens. More importantly, I want to help you train your brain to feel more happiness daily, without having to do anything to access this emotion.

What if happiness wasn't something that you had to pursue, but rather, something that could follow you? The reason why people don't experience happiness is that they have rules about what has to happen for them to feel happy.

For example, some people will say, “I'll be happier if I start making $100,000 per year.” What tends to happen is that once this person gets closer to their desired target, they move that target further away. They'll say to themselves, “I'm making $100,000 yet I'm still not happy, so I have to hit 1 million dollars now.”

Other people experience happiness without having to work for it. There are no rules or conditions in place. If you ask this person what has to happen for them to hit the target of happiness, they might say, “I wake up and I realize that I'm alive! It's a waste to not enjoy and appreciate this incredible gift that I've been given.”

The latter person has beliefs that allow them to feel happy consistently.

The richness of what you focus on determines the richness with which you feel life. The way I see it is that, if we want to experience true happiness, we have to stop taking our lives for granted. Appreciation for the small things turns what we already have into enough.

Why is this way of thinking such a difficult concept for people to grasp and implement? Well, we are conditioned to expect something outside of us to make us happy – a fancy car, a new home, a high-paying job, a partner. If you wait for something or someone to make you happy, you're going to be miserable.

Nothing is ever going to be enough. Happiness is not outside of you. Rather, it's a state of mind, but you have to learn how to cultivate it. The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your beliefs. Check-in with yourself – do your current belief systems empower or disempower you?

If you're holding onto self-limiting beliefs that are preventing you from moving forward in life, my invitation to you is to do the work to reprogram your thoughts. Write a new list of rules of what has to happen for you to feel happy. For example, “I feel happiness anytime that I smile” or “I feel happiness anytime that I focus on the good in my life.”

Happiness isn't the reward for the sacrifices that you make to be successful. When you make it a priority to cultivate happiness, naturally you will have more energy, excitement, and passion to pursue your goals and dreams. You can't take action to change your life for the better if you feel miserable.

This is the TRUTH about how to be happy every day.

Commit to re-writing your happiness rules and give yourself permission to create a life of happiness, joy, and fulfillment. Happiness is always with you and it always follows you.

Regardless of whether or not you have achieved all of your goals, you still have so much to be happy about. Decide to be happy right now, no matter what. Give your life the gift of happiness, contentment, and inner peace.

Have you been chasing money and success? If so, stop.

When I first started my entrepreneurial journey, I was very money-focused. The more I chased money, the more unfulfilled I became.

It took me a long time to realize that money was never going to make me happy.

Research shows that those who pursue wealth and material possessions tend to be less satisfied and experience fewer positive emotions each day.

Don't get me wrong…. having a lot of money is great, but it's only a byproduct of success.

Chasing money and success is a losing battle.

I truly believe that all of us want to be happy and experience a sense of joy, meaning, and purpose. However, a lot of people have bought into the illusion of happiness. They think that happiness is something that is found outside of themselves. This is a lie.

You can be happy at this moment, regardless of your external circumstances. There are people in this world who have nothing, whether they are broke, in debt, alone, sick, or even dying. Yet, regardless of their circumstances, they have decided to find joy in life. Conversely, there are people who have all the money in the world. However, they aren't fulfilled. It may appear that they have it all on the outside, but deep down, they are miserable.

Why are so many successful people still unhappy? One researcher believes that it's because they go about measuring mastery in the wrong way. They use social comparisons to determine their level of accomplishment instead of doing the work to create inner happiness. Once they ‘make it' in the eyes of their peers, they continue putting everything that they can into that one area of their life, but neglect other areas in the process.

In my work, I believe that if you want to succeed in life, you have to give equal weight to each area of your life. This is how you will ensure that you are making progress and living a life of balance. I refer to this as the Life Mastery Blueprint.

These are the 10 most important areas of my life:

  1. Body (health and fitness)
  2. Mindset
  3. Emotions (psychology and beliefs)
  4. Relationships (intimate)
  5. Business/Career
  6. Money/Finances
  7. Family
  8. Social/friends/fun
  9. Contribution
  10. Spirituality (religion, meditation practice)

Each area influences one another. If you have an imbalance in one area, it will negatively affect another area. As an example, if you have all the money in the world it won't matter if you aren't healthy. Your health is the most valuable thing that you have. No amount of money can buy back health. I think we can all agree that the goal should never be about being the richest man or woman in the graveyard.

Instead of achieving happiness, what if you happily achieved? The most effective way to do this is by creating a powerful morning ritual that nourishes your mind, body, and soul. When you make your happiness a top priority, you will naturally create success in your life.

Don't forget to focus on what matters.

I encourage you to make happiness one of your top values in life. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that money will make you happy because success without fulfillment is failure.

Choose to be happy, regardless of what your outside world looks like. Everything that you've ever wanted is already inside of you. In the words of Marcus Aurelius, “Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.” When you master your mind, you master your life.

I believe that everyone has the desire to be happy. However, a lot of people end up losing themselves in the pursuit of happiness.

You will never find happiness if you tirelessly search for it, but you can shift your thinking so that being happy becomes your default emotion.

Happiness is a choice.

If you're not as happy as you would like to be, the good news is that you have the power to change your state of mind. We all have a mindset, otherwise known as a series of beliefs that determine our experience of life. Each person has a different perception of the world. These differences are rooted in how each person was conditioned to believe and behave during childhood.

At every given moment of your life, you choose a filter through which you see the world. That filter impacts the way in which you interact with yourself and others. If you want to experience more happiness in your life, you have to start observing the quality of your thoughts.

By bringing more awareness to your current filter selection and actively finding one that serves your highest self, you become a more positive person. I hold positive beliefs that affirm every experience has the potential to help me become a better person. As a result, I am better able to transform my challenges into opportunities for growth and find the silver lining.

Your reality is based on what you believe. Your beliefs will either empower or disempower you. If you draw inaccurate conclusions about who you are and what you're capable of, you will only end up limiting your potential and capacity to experience happiness.

A lot of people hold onto stories from their past that keep them feeling stuck. If you continue to accept these stories as truth, you will continue being a victim of your life. The moment that you take responsibility for your life, you give yourself permission to step into the role of a victor.

Did you know that many of your beliefs are conditioned?

This means that you adopt negative belief systems at an early age that become the foundation for your future thinking. Stop buying into stories that other people have created for you. If you want to change your life, start with changing the meaning behind your stories.

This doesn't mean that you have to forget about the past. Rather, it's about committing to rewriting your story in a more empowering way. Unfortunately, a lot of people create their life narratives based on past events. They aren’t conscious of the meaning-making process they instinctively go through in their day-to-day life.

Nothing has meaning unless you give it meaning. When you change the meaning of your past, you also change the narrative of your present. Whatever information you feed your mind on a regular basis is what you are going to experience in life.

This is why you need to be mindful of your thoughts and where you focus your attention. In the words of Jim Rohn, “Every day, stand guard at the door of your mind.” Don't allow negativity to seep into your mind and negatively affect your life. This is why it's crucial that you carefully choose who you surround yourself with.

It doesn't matter how disciplined you are. If you hang out with negative people who complain all of the time, you will be negatively influenced by their energy. If your environment isn't serving you, change it.

I have achieved the success that I have today in large part because I actively did the work to attract successful people into my life. These people inspired me to achieve greatness and instilled in me the belief that anything is possible.

This is how you retrain your mind for happiness.

Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Don't allow the past to dictate your present or future. You are the creator of your happiness. Give yourself permission to design a life that brings you a lifetime of abundance, joy, and fulfillment.

What are you grateful for?

If you're finding it hard to come up with something, it's okay. When times are tough, it can be difficult to adopt an attitude of gratitude.

No matter what you're going through in life, gratitude can make you a happier person.

Research shows that focusing on what you are grateful for releases dopamine and serotonin into your body, both of which are feel-good neurotransmitters in the brain.

Do you want some helpful tips for how to you can find the silver lining, even when everything sucks? Keep reading!

Gratitude can transform your life.

Gratitude is a state of mind that arises when you focus on and give thanks for the good. In effect, gratitude equates with abundance. I have found gratitude to be one of the most spiritual emotions. If practiced regularly, gratitude can transform difficult times into opportunities for growth and expansion.

Dr. Joe Dispenza explained gratitude best when he said, “… Instead of going on autopilot, a person experiencing gratitude will pause in the present moment, really feel the expansiveness of the emotion and follow it with a kind word or thought.”

We live in a world that praises achievement, so much so that we are conditioned to believe that, the more we have, the more successful we will be. As a result, people become addicted to attracting more things into their lives without stopping to appreciate what they already have.

Don't get me wrong… being an ambitious person is great. However, if you don't stop and smell the roses, what is the point of achieving more? In my experience, taking time to appreciate the meaningful things in life trumps any materialistic possession. When it comes to gratitude, it's easy to feel happy and joyful when life is going well. However, it's a lot harder to pull upon gratitude when everything sucks.

Life isn't always fair.

The Coronavirus pandemic proves this point. It has changed the world as we know it. The economy has taken a massive hit. People have lost their jobs and are fearful for their futures. Even worse, many are mourning the deaths of loved ones who have lost their lives to the virus. Uncertainty has become the new norm.

Even in the toughest of times, like the one we are currently facing, I believe that it's possible to find gratitude. Gratitude is a state of mind that focuses on growth and possibility. It has the power to bring hope to the darkest of days.

A powerful example of this is what you're seeing in cities around the world right now. At 7 pm every night, people open their windows or go on their balconies and cheer as a way of giving thanks to the nurses and doctors who are fighting the Coronavirus. It may not feel like it, but these simple acts of gratitude bring comfort and healing to everyone involved.

Gratitude is one of the most important rituals that I practice. In my experience, if you consistently practice gratitude every day, you naturally become a happier and more positive person. Anything that you want to achieve in life requires daily discipline and practice.

By choosing to focus on what is good in your life, you will grow stronger in the face of adversity.

However, before you practice gratitude it's important to reflect upon how you act and speak daily. Do you use language consistent with gratitude? Or do you find yourself consistently harping about the injustices we’re facing and complaining about the hardships in your life?

If your daily thoughts and actions are disempowering, adopting an attitude of gratitude will be near impossible. Only once you know your default way of being, will you feel empowered to change your life. If you don't already have one, I encourage you to create a morning ritual that is focused on gratitude and positivity.

Look for the good and give thanks for everything in your life. I like to do a 2-minute gratitude meditation every day. All it requires that you do is stop, close your eyes, put your hands over your heart and focus on your breath. You can do this at any point during the day. Tune in and feel the love and strength of your heart.

Take a deep breath in and out and ask yourself, “In this moment, what is something that I am grateful for?” Trust whatever comes up. This simple practice allows you to connect to your heart intelligence, which is your seat of intuition and all-knowing. Whereas your mind will try to analyze everything, your heart will guide you towards the truth. In turn, you will experience more joy, love, and fulfillment. Where there is love there cannot be fear.

This is how to become grateful when everything sucks.

Albert Einstein once said, “There are two ways to live your life: as though nothing is a miracle, or as though everything is a miracle.” The choice is yours. What are you grateful for? Make it a priority to practice gratitude every day. It has the power to change your life.

Are you having a bad day? We all have bad days from time to time, myself included.

If you woke up today, and for whatever reason, you're not feeling 100%, that's okay. It's proof that you're human.

You can't expect to be happy all of the time. It's not realistic. Stressors and challenges are a normal part of life.

However, I believe that it is possible to shift your state and turn your bad day around.

Ready to discover two approaches that you can take the next time that you're having a bad day?

Bad days suck.

I'm not going to sugar coat it. They can ruin your mood in a second, but they don't have to. When life gets messy, you can improve your state, almost instantly. Even better, there are ways that you can prevent the bad days from occurring in your life as often. I want to share with you two approaches that I take when I'm having a bad day.

Approach #1 – Change Your Day

Even though you may think you're having a bad day, sometimes it's just a bad moment. It doesn't have to dictate how the rest of your day will unfold. By cultivating the right mindset, you can recover from your bad days and transform them into great days.

These are the days that I am most proud of because I didn't give up on myself. Instead, I resolved my inner and external conflicts on my own. Below are three ways that you can change the course of your day when it feels like nothing is going right.

A) Change Your Physiology

Your state of mind is initimately connected to your physiology. When I'm not feeling good the first thing that I try to do is change my emotional state. When you're having a bad day, it's easy to spiral and have your emotions get the best of you. You can put yourself into a more positive state simply by changing your physiology.

Just getting out of your current environment and moving your body can immediately change how you feel. When you’re in control of your mind, you become the master of your emotions and you understand that life is happening for you, not to you.

B) Practice Mindfulness

I don't know about you, but when I'm stressed out, my breathing becomes more shallow. This is a recipe for anxiety and overwhelm. The next time that it feels like your emotions are getting the best of you, try closing your eyes and take a few deep diaphragmatic breaths. It will help to calm your mind and bring you back to the present moment.

If you want to take it one step further, try meditating. This is one of the most powerful mindfulness-based practices. It teaches you how to bring more attention to the moment and the breath.

A lot of people live too much in the past or too much in the future. The spiritual author and teacher, Eckhart Tolle, attributes human suffering — depression, anxiety, guilt, worry, fear, and more — to our tendency to live in our minds instead of in the present. The present is all that matters. When you spend more time in this place, you will feel more connected to yourself and, in turn, more in control of your state.

C) Ask For Help

When you're having a bad day and nothing is going right it's easy to isolate yourself and be alone with your thoughts. A lot of people don't want to be a burden to others. I get it. However, isolation is not the answer. Talking to your friends or loved ones is sometimes all you need to feel better and turn your day around.

Approach #2 – Surrender To The Day

Sometimes you will try to turn your day around, but for whatever reason, nothing works. Your mind and body won't be having it. If this happens, I suggest you surrender to the day. Don't try to change anything. Rather, just feel whatever is coming up and accept your reality. Whatever you resist, persists.

Sometimes I have days when nothing is working for me because the Universe is telling me that I need to rest and recover. The beautiful thing about life is that every day is a new opportunity to start over. Bad days are temporary. They aren't permanent. Take comfort in knowing this.

To be honest, I don't even like to give a day a label like “bad.” The reason being is that labels are all a matter of interpretation. There have been many days that I perceived as being “bad” that turned out to be some of my best days.

Your rock bottom experiences can result in beautiful “aha” moments that you never would have discovered had you not experienced hardship. To give you an example, the darkest days in my life led to me starting my online business and wanting to improve every area of my life. The pain motivated me to grow and learn more about myself.

Now the question is, “How can you prevent bad days from happening altogether?”

How I start my day is how I end my day. Creating an empowering morning ritual is one of the best gifts that I've given to myself and my life. It's a preventative measure that I take to ensure that I'm at my best, every day.

Whether it's 15-30 minutes or one hour, I always engage in some activity in the morning that nurtures my mind, body, and soul. I do things like meditate, read, recite affirmations, practice gratitude, and exercise. By focusing on the good things in my life, I feel empowered and energized to master my day.

When you're starting the day at level 10, you will have a level 10 day. It's that simple. When challenges arise, you will be better able to deal with them because you made it a priority to master your mind and emotions.

If you're having a bad day, you have the power to change it.

I encourage you to try one of the approaches that I have shared with you. Not every day can be a great day. I believe that we are meant to have disempowering days so that we can appreciate the great days even more. Every day that you're here on Earth is something to cherish. Have gratitude for your life. It truly is a gift.

If you're an ambitious person but you feel like, deep down, you aren't fulfilled, this blog will benefit you.

Hopefully what I'm going to share with you will help you re-prioritize what matters in your life.

Most of us are living our lives like a donkey chasing a carrot. We have been conditioned to believe that happiness is something that we get. This is merely an illusion.

Nothing on the outside will ever complete you on the inside. Ready to figure out what may be truly missing in your life?

Are you living in the present moment?

Unfortunately, a lot of people ruminate about the past or worry too much about the future. True joy is only found in the here and now. Happiness isn't something that you acquire. Rather, it's something you cultivate from the inside out. If you are constantly searching for happiness outside of yourself, it will always feel like something is missing in your life.

Hence, you may find yourself working tirelessly to fill the void that you feel through things or people. Oftentimes, it is the feeling of insignificance and a sense of scarcity that motivates people to pursue happiness through external things.

I'm here to tell you that there is nothing on the outside that will fix what is happening for you on the inside. This is why I believe in the power of self-development. What is missing for a lot of people is self-care.

You can't just wake up and live your life reacting to everything and everyone. This is a recipe for disaster. How do you expect to show up for others if you don't show up for yourself first? We are creatures of habit. However, when those habits are negative, we fall into the trap of feeling stuck and disempowered.

If you wake up every day, throw on a pot of coffee, eat some unhealthy food and rush out the door to work, you are only setting yourself up to fail. Research shows that a lack of a routine leads to decision fatigue. You end up wasting willpower making hundreds of tiny decisions which have little to no impact on your daily goals. Not surprisingly, every area of your life ends up being affected by this.

In order to ensure that I don't ever fall into this trap, I engage in a daily morning ritual that nourishes my mind, body, and spirit. I've been doing this since I was 17 years old. When you spend some time every morning filling yourself up, it's a way of saying, “I'm worthy and deserving.” This is an act of self-love in and of itself.

Do you feel something is missing in your life?

If so, I encourage you to create a morning ritual and practice it for at least one hour every day. Whatever you do, make it a must. If you do, not only are you going to start feeling different, but other people are going to notice a shift in your state as well. Over time, a ripple effect will occur and every area of your life will change for the better.

When you heal yourself from the inside out you experience a feeling of aliveness that is unlike anything in this world. Give yourself this gift. You deserve it.
