Thailand is the 14th country that I've visited thus far. By the end of this year, I will have traveled to 16 countries.

I realize that this is a lot more than most people do in their entire lifetime.

In this blog, I want to share with you what it's really like to travel the world. In particular, what I love about traveling, as well as the challenges that come along with it.

Travel is the best form of education.

Traveling has always been a huge part of my personal growth. As many of you know who follow me, I'm a big fan of self-development. Traveling forces you to get outside your comfort zone and explore new cultures, languages, perspectives, and people. The entire experience of traveling allows you to see and appreciate different ways of living and being.

I've never met anyone in my life who said that they regret traveling. It's a win-win, even when you encounter challenges along the way. For this reason alone, I believe that traveling is one of the best things that you can do to get to know yourself, others, and the world at large on a deeper level.

The reason why I'm able to travel, work and make money is that I've built a successful online business. My business provides consistent passive income every single hour of the day. Hence, I'm not trading my time for money. This means that I can run and operate my business from anywhere in the world. All I really need is my camera, laptop, phone, and WiFi access.

From personal experience, I can say that having this kind of freedom has been life-changing. The beautiful part of it all is that ANYBODY can create a laptop lifestyle. Perhaps the most dominant influence of the evolution of the Internet has been the creation of new jobs and a change in the nature of jobs that already exist.

Today there are limitless opportunities for you to create life, on your terms.

You don't have to be confined to a 9-to-5 office job or be tied down to one location. You can be location independent. Imagine how your life would be if you could work from anywhere in the world, and make money doing it? If I did it, there's no reason why you can't do it too.

We are so blessed to live on this incredible planet. There is so much to see and do. I don't know about you, but I don't want to come to the end of my life and feel like I missed out. At the end of your life, you won't remember the days when all you did was go to work. Rather, you will remember the magic moments when you stepped outside of your comfort zone and took that epic trip that you always dreamed of.

I'm originally from Vancouver, B.C., Canada. There was a time in my life when I was living in downtown Vancouver in a beautiful penthouse, yet I still didn't feel fulfilled. Why? Well, eight months out of the year the weather was lousy. Don't get me wrong… Vancouver is amazing but a lot of the great stuff to do in that city is outdoors. When it's raining all of the time, people don't want to go outside and socialize.

This lifestyle felt really limiting. I was too comfortable. Can you relate?

I was craving an escape so I started traveling to tropical locations during the winter months. The biggest things that I love about traveling is the variety and adventure that it brings. It provides a huge amount of excitement and passion in my life. If I'm going to work, I may as well work poolside, looking out at the beach! There is so much more fun to be had in new destinations because everything is new.

However, there are some challenges that come with traveling the world. Firstly, when you travel to a new destination every week or month, you're constantly on the move which can cause you to feel ungrounded. There's always an adaptation phase that you need to go through. Although this can be exciting, it can also be exhausting.

Time zone changes and jetlag can negatively affect your daily routine. I've gotten a lot better at managing this, but it's still something I'm trying to master. In order to combat this challenge and connect back with comfort and familiarity, I travel back to my 3 home bases, which are Panama, LA, and Vancouver when I feel called to.

Another challenge with traveling is living out of a suitcase. When I travel I try to be a minimalist in terms of how much I bring. However, there are times when I wish that I had more at my disposal. I'm a big fan of biohacking so I really enjoy having my technology with me. However, I can't always bring those things with me. Also, if you are someone who loves to eat healthy and organic food, sometimes it takes time to find high vibe food options in certain countries. This is why I like to hire a chef or find meal delivery services when I visit a new place.

The last challenge of traveling is feeling disconnected from your social network.

When you travel consistently, it's hard to maintain solid friendships. Luckily, my  fiancée, Tatiana and I have one another when we travel, but we still miss our friends. You can still make new friends when you travel, but a lot of those friendships are short-term. Hence, you miss out on the depth of connection that comes with having your tribe. This is why traveling can feel lonely at times, especially if you work alone.

This isn't how I want to live for the rest of my life. Rather, it's just a stage and that' s great! I've been grinding and hustling for years now to build my 7-figure online business. Today, I'm in a stage of pleasure and enjoyment. I want to enjoy the freedom that comes with living a laptop lifestyle. I know that I'll look back at this time and have zero regrets. Trust me when I say that the advantages of traveling the world far exceed the challenges.

Living the laptop lifestyle changed my life forever.

However, I didn't become a successful digital nomad overnight. It took a lot of hard work, commitment and investment in myself to build a multi-millon dollar online business. When I was 23 years old, I traveled to Thailand to start building my online business. It allowed me to get a taste of the laptop lifestyle.

During that time, I was reading the book, The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich. That book completely shifted my mindset of what was possible. My entire life I was conditioned to believe that I had to go to school and find a 9-to-5 job until I was 65 years old, at which point I could retire and be “free.”

Tim Ferriss taught me that being chained to a desk isn’t the future of work. Once I knew that I could create a 4-hour workweek, I decided that I would do whatever it took to create that reality. I fully immersed myself in learning about Internet marketing.

Like I said, my success didn't happen overnight. In fact, I went through a period of my life where I was really struggling. I had a lot of limiting beliefs that were holding me back. In reality, I didn't take my business seriously enough. Once I decided to go all in and stop dabbling, that's when everything changed for me.

One of the first ways that I started to make money online was through affiliate marketing.

This is the process of promoting other people's products and earning a commission from doing so. I soon realized that I could create content on my blog and learn SEO, so that when people searched for products online, they would come to my blog and could purchase through my affiliate links.

That model started to provide some great income for me. It allowed me to accomplish my goal of making $300 per month while I was living in Thailand. However, at some point, Google changed their algorithms. Unfortunately, it wiped out my affiliate marketing business. I ended up losing all of the money that I was making and I went back to the drawing board.

This is when I got into Kindle publishing on Amazon. The more books that I published, the more money that I made. Soon thereafter, I realized that I didn't have to write books myself. I started to hire ghostwriters to write books for me and I focused on building a publishing and marketing company.

That was when I experienced my big break online. I was making $8,000-$10,000 per month online at 24 years of age. Once I made money like this, it made me think, “If I can achieve this, then what else is possible?” All of the sudden I was in a financial position where I no longer I had to work.

I thought that all I wanted was passive income.

While I enjoyed that lifestyle for a few months, I wasn't fulfilled. I started asking myself the question, “If money wasn't a factor, what would I want my legacy to be?” Coming from a place of abundance, I knew that my true passion was self-development. Ever since I was 17 years old, I've loved learning and growing, and in turn, sharing that knowledge with others. That is what makes me feel most fulfilled because I'm adding value to people's lives.

It was at this point that I decided to start Project Life Mastery. I was 25 years old. In the beginning, I had a YouTube channel and blog. Eventually, I started a podcast. I simply wanted to share with people what I was doing to improve each area of my life. Once I started to publish my content, a lot of people started to follow me.

They were curious about how I was able to make money online, so I started teaching people how to publish books on Amazon.  Eventually I created a Kindle publishing course, called Mastering Book Publishing. During this time, I was buying so many great products to further my personal development.

I started to find affiliate marketing opportunities and began the process of becoming an affiliate marketer. As my business started to grow, I created my own courses and training programs, coached people, and developed my own Mastermind events.

In 2014, I discovered that the big opportunity was selling physical products on Amazon.

I wanted to build multiple streams of income in my business so that I wasn't dependent on one stream. My fiancée and I bought a course called, The Amazing Selling Machine which taught us how to sell on Amazon. Soon thereafter, I launched a supplement brand and had some great success with that.

Eventually, I got out of that business because I was too busy to handle of the logistics. I started to partner with other e-commerce businesses and brands as an investor. This was a great way to work smarter instead of harder.

I want to emphasize that I started my journey with desire and grit. Slowly I found the strategies that helped me make money online. Over time, I grew and transitioned into other opportunites as they arose. Today, I'm 33 years old and I've built an incredible multi-million dollar online business that I'm proud of. My journey wasn't easy. I experienced a lot of failures along the way. What kept me going was the belief and faith of what was possible. I believe that if you are committed enough to something, you will find the way or make the way.
